I was helping a friend find a mover when I came across the Brickhouse Moving Company. And I'm grateful to have found them! Joe P was beyond pleasant, helpful, and flexible with scheduling (and patient with some necessary rescheduling). Brickhouse provided quality service all the way, from scheduling with Joe to the actual move by him and his team of two equally pleasant young men. I would be remiss if I didn't give one example of how Joe went the extra mile. To assist my friend with coordinating this move, which had a few moving parts involving third and fourth parties, Joe picked up his bed in advance of the move and held it until the day of the move. He noticed there was no box spring with this bed, so before the day of the move, he'd taken a large piece of plywood he had and cut it to fit the bed frame, and created an extra piece for the center of the platform for added strength, making a temporary mattress platform. That was a godsend. Then the cherry on top: After moving all the belongings inside, his team went on to the next job while Joe stayed behind and put the bed together! In my experience, such outstanding customer service is rare these days. Brickhouse gets five stars for that alone. I'd give ten, if I could, for the entire moving process which went so smoothly, thanks to Joe. The initial quote was very reasonable but Joe never charged a cent more than he initially quoted, even though he provided additional services. I can't say he'd be able to do something similar for every other client in every other situation, but I can say this: Joe is a stand-up guy. Moved in July 2023 and I'm extremely upset with the amount of damage done to my belongings. The movers took twice as long to move the same exact belongings from the year prior which made the cost double. I'm pretty sure after I left the apartment to come to the house I was moving to, the movers sat around to make more money because they barely had much more to move when I left. Here is a list of damages: two broken light bulbs from my vanity, my desk is chipped, they moved my BB gun from under the bed to the closet and I guess pulled the trigger so now there is a bullet in the floor of my closet! We moved our apartment about 2 months ago with them. We had hired them just for moving. They came on time. They dismantled the big furniture and wrapped it carefully. Really meticulous and friendly !!! They were unbelievably fast. They started at 8 and by 11, they were done moving as well as assembling the furniture. No damages, no problems with money. We had talked with other movers too, but the price they charged was way below what others had quoted. I would definitely go with them for next move. read more

I used Brick House twice, shame on me. My first move from Salem to Danvers the guys were very nice and polite but slow and talked too much and took too many breaks for cigarettes, but did handle my things well. One year later I needed to move again, I called the owner and expressed my concerns about the guys not being efficient enough. He assured me he would put his best guys on my move if I chose to use them again so we did. This time we were going from Danvers to Peabody. I had a storage unit to be emptied and an apartment to be moved all to my new location. We started at the storage unit, I made it very clear that every box in the storage unit was fragile and very breakable. It was a very hot day so while they started to move things I went down the street to get cold water for the guys. When I got back 2 of the 3 guys that were there when I left had been replaced by two other guys plus an additional one for a total of 4 now with no additional cost. They were packing the truck, they finished and we moved to the apartment. The guys seemed to be careful and organized. When we were all packed off to the final destination. I bought pizza for the crew, took a short break and began to unpack the truck. It started out really well, things coming upstairs and being put in the proper locations. Then it started rain, this is when it got a bit side unorganized. The guys unloading the truck were pushing things off so fast that the guys on the receiving end were moving faster and while I was dealing with the cable guy things just started being stacked in any room there was space, including all those fragile boxes. There were items that were to be unloaded into the garage and that was the final step. I was told about a handle that came off of a tool box in the garage and I had no problem with that and that's all that was reported to me. I paid and they went on their way. I work quiet a bit so everything was not unpacked all at once. The handle to a wardrobe was broken off and the door to an antique was broken down the middle but pushed back into place so it looked okay. About 3 weeks later I went to go organize what was in the garage and I found a draw that went to a side table was in pieces put in a bucket along with a sliding door to one of my book cases and the leg was broken on my smoker. In my guest room where most of the fragile boxes where placed I found boxes of books put on top of them and some of them were crushed. As I unpacked these boxes many of my items where broken some of them collectables. The last move took place at the end of July 2018 and I sent an email to Brick House Movers in September 2018 stating the circumstances and included pictures of the broken items, I never got a response. As I recently have unpacked the last few boxes almost a year later more broken items. I used Brickhouse for my move from Peabody to Beverly in March 2020. I would not recommend them at all. I am missing 2 boxes of collectible memorabilia such as books, magazines and photo's that cannot be replaced. I was promised 3 guys and only 2 showed up. On top of that once the truck was loaded from the storage unit it disappeared for 2 hours! When I finally got a phone call I was told they had to stop at the bank and get gas...seriously? It does not take 2 hrs to go from Peabody to Beverly even with the 2 stops! I tried contacting the owner who was one of the movers that day and i have had no response whatsoever. When I needed a mover, I made a few calls and also was inundated with calls from movers who somehow found out I was moving. Only Joe came to my home to give me an estimate. He was thorough and honest. I went through another quote, which was twice the price, and decided to go with Joe. At the last minute, I found out I couldn't close on my new home so my belongings had to be moved from my old house and put into storage for a few days. Joe helped me deal with the storage issues and arranged to move me in a few days later. He brought extra help to move me in because he was running late and didn't charge me for it. I used Brickhouse Movers for a move - It was a small one bedroom being moved to a larger one bedroom. The owner Joe Provencher came out to asses what I had and gave me a quote - I got my quote and Joe said that it would not go over the quoted price even if it takes longer then thought. When we met he also gave me a folder of helpful things - and brochures to help with the move. The move went seamlessly and fast. They arrived on time. In total there were four men (Inlcuding Joe)- all polite. They put things exactly where I wanted them and were extremely helpful. I think they did a Fantastic Job. ABSOLUTLY WONDERFUL JOB. I trusted them, the cost was good and they did a fantastic job . They also offer another wonderful service. Joe is going to come out and hang all my pictures/art on my walls. And put up my curtains when everything is ready to go up. I am for certain taking advantage of that option - which is a fantastic price. Used brick house movers for a recent move they were OK showed up on time broke a couple of my mirrors and then some of the furniture they reassembled at my new location haphazardly and not really thrilled with the service. Charged an additional $100. To wrap a couple tv's in blankets. Isn't that the minimum you'd expect to move a tv? Then they broke mirror anyway. My positive review begins from the estimate and goes right up through the truck pulling away. Joe (the owner) personally handled all of my calls, and would apologize for "not getting back to me sooner" even though he ALWAYS called back within 24 hours. I provided him with a list of what I would need moved, and when I quoted me the price per hour I knew I had to go with them. On move in day the three workers (Adam, Joe, and Chris, if I remember correctly) were quick, careful, and efficient. They showed up right on time. They were very polite and made sure to discuss a game plan before moving the larger items so nothing took too long or was damaged; they checked both entrances to see which would be the best for them. They were friendly to be around and if need be they would ask me to clarify where I wanted something before moving it. They did not dilly-dally or waste time, and took pride in their efficiency. I also appreciated their willingness to remove a couch and a love seat off of a second floor porch, and also stopping at a local organization where I was donating them en-route to my new place. We used Brickhouse twice and they were a hard-working team and fairly priced. We had four guys for the move-out/move-in. Joe, the owner, was very easy to work with, and even after the team broke a carpet cleaner, he was very accommodating. One thing that I didn't appreciate was that when the carpet cleaner was broken, no one from the crew came to me or my wife to make us aware of it. I had some valuables missing and they would not take responsibility for it then sent me an outrageous bill. Will never use them again! We used Brickhouse Movers for a local move from a condo to a house and it couldn't have gone better. Joe and his team arrived on time and worked all morning to get everything organized and safe in the truck and then moved over to the house and moved everything in rather quickly. During the move in portion of the move it started to drizzle so Joe and the other movers covered everything with blankets to keep it dry as they walked it across the lawn. In addition, Joe came in during the move to sweep up the steps as there was some dirt that had been tracked in during all the trips in and out. What a disaster! The owner came to our house weeks before the move, saw everything we had to move, wrote it down dutifully and gave us an estimate. We cautioned him that we might have a few extra boxes to add to our load and he bent over backwards to reassure us. "We'll have a very large truck!," he said. "It doesn't matter to us whether you move a lot or a little." We decided to go with him precisely because of his reassuring attitude. Well, imagine our surprise when moving day came and a tiny 16-foot truck drove up our driveway - not nearly large enough to move what we'd shown him. We showed the job to the movers and they quickly got the look of a bunch of guys who saw problems coming - familiar problems. But when we called the owner, he told us there was no problem at all - the truck would just have to make two trips, which we, of course, would have to pay for. The movers were terribly apologetic and seemed to know, from bitter experience, that their boss often said one thing and did another. We argued with the boss for all of five minutes and when he ran out of arguments, he simply told us he wouldn't move us. The movers departed with deep apologies and that was that. I had an appointment with a moving company (not Brickhouse) for 8am on Monday. At 9am, I was informed they had made a mistake with scheduling and they were not coming to move me. In a panic, I called Brickhouse to see if they could do it that same day. They were great - made the appointment for later that afternoon and stayed in communication to let me know exactly when they'd be arriving. All my things were moved safely and quickly and for a reasonable price. I really appreciated their availability to jump right in to get the job done when I had been abandoned by the other moving company! I wouldn't use anyone else for a large or small move. Extremely professional and very capable. My move was tricky as some furniture pieces were larger than the opening to the room it was going to, plus I live on the 2nd floor. Somehow, maybe even magically, they got this furniture in the room without damage to the furniture or the house. They definitely know what they're doing. Helped family members who used Brickhouse for a move this week from Danvers to Groveland and was thoroughly unimpressed with this company and their crew. We should have read the other reviews before hiring them! A crew of 3 workers moved so slowly - I could have moved the stuff faster myself- in addition to standing around watching each other - or talking half the time. THEN, just before finishing packing the truck hours after they started - they realized that there was one large piece that wouldn't fit in the truck and we ended up paying for an hour of time during which we all stood around waiting for a 2nd truck - and I note one of the earlier reviewers warned about that trick too! In the end the whole thing took THREE hours longer than the quote given by the owner and one of our party spent 15 minutes arguing with the owner on the phone about the bill and excess time - after which he tweaked the total down a little. Still way over the original quote and we ended up unpacking in the middle of the night because they didn't get done til 6:00 PM. Terrible experience! read more

I originally spoke with the owner Joe, who was more than happy to answer my questions and listen to my concerns. I only needed the truck packed as I rented a UHAUL and would be driving it myself. The rate was more reasonable than most companies. On moving day I was ready to go earlier than usual, and I called the owner and he sent a crew within 30 mins. The crew (Miguel and Tony) arrived on time to pack the truck. Miguel noticed that the inside of the rental truck was dirty and reccommended that I bag some mattresses; I did not have any bags but he did, and they were sold to me at a really reasonable price. The truck was packed tightly and securely, they even tied my belongings down at no extra charge. Everything arrived at my destination 500 miles later completely intact. I used Brickhouse b/c I have items stored with them and figured it would be easier to use them since the storage unit was with them. I met Joe, the owner. He came to my home to estimate what the move would cost. He also said that he was one of the movers. Even though he was the most expensive at $145 an hr. I was impressed that he came to the house beforehand and what better way to move than to actually have the owner present. The verbal estimate was around $600, the email estimate was $700-900 and the actual move came in at $1232!!!!!! I have moved many time in my life and that was the most expensive move and off base estimate I have ever received. He even charged me $70 for their half hour lunch and no one has ever charged me for their lunch break. At the end Joe did knock off the $32 but I am extremely unhappy and feel taken. I am reporting them to BBB and AMSA. This was a disgrace and I will never ever be inclined to do something so foolish again in my life. My daughter moved yesterday and she used Two Men Moving. They did a great job, never charged her for lunch and it cost her all of $480 for an 8 hr move. read more

He seemed very nice and patient and explained everything in detail and was very kind i decided to pick his company for my move and it was the biggest mistake of my life! Joe and his company ruined my life! I lost my home too foreclosure and i am disabled and Homeless this has been the worst year of my life i'm hardly able to function. I explained to Joe my things are going into a storage unit until i get into housing but we need it done properly and we need access to the storage unit so my brother can get in and get the things i need when i need them so Joe assured me there was no problem and all would be fine and i told them where i wanted my things and personal items like clothing,coats,shoes,scarves,pocket books etc i needed up front so when the seasons change my brother could get in there and get what i need! The next day not only was i charged much more than the estimate when we went too look at my storage unit we were mortified with the mess that was there and how badly the work was done and we couldn't even get into the unit the things are piled up to the door with no walkway and no room for a person to enter the storage unit and we cannot find anything because we cannot get in there and move and walk around like Joe promised we would be able to do the boxes i asked for in the front are nowhere too be found! My brother said too call him and tell him this is unacceptable and i paid $2,000 thousand dollars to have my beautiful things thrown in like junk and not arranged neatly like promised so we could have access too my things i called Joe and told him i was very upset this was unacceptable for $2,000 thousand dollars and we cannot enter the unit he was completely mean,disagreeable and unprofessional and i said we need this fixed he said he could see where this was going and he was NOT going too help me and Slammed the phone in my face! This was in June and i am still Homeless and distraught and i have no winter clothes or coats or gloves or scarves or anything warm too wear i am freezing in spring clothes when i desperately need my winter things and i'm suffering terribly because of Joe and this moving company i cannot get to my personal things or my household things so my life is totally ruined because of Brickhouse movers i have never encountered anything this bad and life altering from a professional business!
