So I went to the children's museum out in Bridgehampton and saw this place along the way. It looked super cute and had decent reviews for ice cream. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch - it's cash only. I was going to order a quesadilla but it only came with chicken and cheese, nothing else, and was $18+. I guess you're in the Hamptons, so it's expensive, but I just couldn't see myself spending this kind of money on a quesadilla. We ordered 1 scoop of chocolate with m&ms for my daughter and I got a 2 scoop with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry. My bill was $28. I find this insane. I get that we're in the Hamptons but the ice cream wasn't even that good, mediocre at best. The place also had a horrible smell to it. Old, dingy and smelled like a public restroom.

Enjoyed lunch in this venue from yesteryear, with legit counter service. Comfortable booth, seated promptly, and friendly greeting from Mauricio, a fantastic server (see photo) -- who made excellent recommendations. Souvlaki in a pita was fresh tasting, loaded with tender, well-seasoned chicken, and a greek salad with soft feta cheese. I also had lentil soup, served at a proper (hot) temperature. Yum! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Coffee chip ice cream cone for desert was homemade deliciousness in a sugar cone. And, one of my friends had a root beer float that looked fantastic, and he really enjoyed it. Wonderful lunch. Ignore the grumpy and negative reviews. Good value for the Hamptons in my opinion.

I had the Candy Kitchen Salad and enjoyed it very much. I needed something light and if it the spot. I also had the strawberry milk shake but had it with skim milk and it was amazing. Tasty and the strawberry ice cream was delicious. My friend had the banana shake with skim milk and fresh bananas. That was really really good!!!

Pistachio ice cream. Wow. That was a small for like $5. Yummmmm.

Perfect place for a bite, but more importantly for the ice cream. It was up there, top three ever for me. You can dine in with warm and patient service. They have enough staff, and are very nice to you. Having left Montauk where it seems the town gave up, it was a pleasure and a joy to have such a perfect experience at Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton.

It was pretty good. I had peppermint and it was very tasty, though a little icy. I'll cut them some slack since it's not only the off-season, but middle of winter too. It's an adorable place, olde-timey with a soda fountain counter and charming walk-up window. I'll definitely come back when the weather is warmer and try again.

Solid diner experience at the Candy Kitchen. Noticed at least a few regulars come through, so nice to see it's a spot that locals enjoy as well as tourists. The coffee was hot, the BLT was crunchy, and the sundae was lovely in its old-fashioned sundae glass.

4 stars for the lovely staff and delicious house made Ice cream! But sadly 3 stars for the food... So really a 3.5 for my overall experience. Food is mediocre so don't bother thinking you'll have lunch here and then the ice cream... Just go with the ice cream.

Topping Rose House, Bridgehampton: Culinary Highs and Service Lows…read moreRating: (Food: 9.5 | Service: 6) Topping Rose House remains a bit of a Bridgehampton enigma. As a spot we find ourselves returning to a couple of times a year, the kitchen continues to operate at a gold standard, even when the front-of-house seems to be stuck in a bit of a fog. The Food: A Seasonal Symphony If you are coming strictly for the palate, you will not be disappointed. The freshness of the ingredients is palpable: * Oysters: These were pristine--served icy cold and exceptionally fresh. The mignonette was the standout here; perfectly balanced and bright, it elevated the oysters rather than masking them. * Pea Soup: This was a revelation. It tasted as if the peas had been picked just yesterday; it was vibrant, "green," and utterly delightful. * Lobster Roll: While it was admittedly small in stature (especially for the price point), the execution was flawless. It was bright, crunchy, and avoided the heavy mayo-trap that many local spots fall into. The Service: A Comedy of Errors Unfortunately, the gap between the kitchen and the dining room was wide during this visit. While our waitress was personally lovely, the actual mechanics of the service were incredibly frustrated: * Timing Issues: We were offered bread at the start of the meal, yet it didn't grace the table until we were finished eating. * The Water Gap: Our sparkling water sat empty for far too long. Refills were offered, but like the bread, they arrived only after the meal had concluded. * Lack of Proactivity: There was no offer for drink refills throughout the courses. * Accountability: Most disappointing was the lack of acknowledgment. Mistakes happen, but a simple "I'm so sorry for the delay" goes a long way. Instead, the lapses were never addressed or accounted for. The Verdict: Topping Rose House serves some of the most phenomenal, fresh food in the Hamptons. However, when you're paying Bridgehampton prices, you expect the service to match the caliber of the kitchen. We'll likely be back because the pea soup and oysters are hard to quit, but we'll be crossing our fingers for a more attentive experience next time. mi

I couldn't believe he was only 19 years old, very professional. I ordered the Cucumber Fizz, which I honestly hated. I don't think I've sent a cocktail back in years, but it wasn't a proper gin fizz at all. It just tasted really muddy and was missing some citrus. My girlfriend got a glass of Whispering Angel which came out very cold and she enjoyed. We ordered the 30 grams of caviar for $148. The caviar itself was very tasty and came on ice. I didn't love the crème fraîche, it was missing some onion or chive on the side (granted, that wasn't stated on the menu, so that's okay because it came how it was intended). However, I was NOT happy with the blinis. They weren't tasty, they were all different shapes and sizes, some had crusty edges, some had curled-up edges. They just didn't look like there was much care put into them, especially for the price. We also shared the lamb- ordered it medium. Two of the pieces came out well done, and one medium. Yes, the sauce was tasty, but the meat, again, for the price, was just not cooked correctly. I was starving at that point, so I told him not to worry about it and that they didn't have to make it again. Our waiter was great though, offered to send out a new one but we declined because we needed to get going. Also shared the squash blossom quesadilla which I was psyched for. I love squash blossoms, but there was just wayyyy too much cheese in it, not enough seasoning. I get that it's a quesadilla, but the cheese was overwhelming. The jalapeño sauce also didn't really go with it for my preference. Overall, this experience just did not even come close to being what we thought it would be. They did take 2 drinks off the bill to offset the well-done lamb, very nice and for sure appreciated it. But overall, I would never come back. Made sure I tipped our waiter 30% because none of the issues were with service. But blah! The ambiance is pretty both inside & outside but absolutely skip this place. Every dish was missing something. Expected more from a JG spot....

The service was ok--not great. We waited a long time to get out check and became more tired than we were motivated to order dessert...so we gave our credit card as soon as we got the check and hightailed out of there. The escargot was not our cup of tea--they had anise and cheese in the l recipe and we just did not like it. We complained and they magnanimously took them off the check. the baked clams were very good. They had just the right amount of herbs and seasoning and were of perfect consistency. I could have eaten a dozen myself! That said just be aware that they come in an order of three (3) so if you are coming with a larger party it might be a good idea to take a count of whoever wants it over parentheses (n) and then multiply by 2 and divide by three so you order enough orders. Orders = (nx2)/3 The crab Caroline salad was a show stopper--absolutely delicious. It's a huge bowl portion that's very sharable. Tasty dressing and substantial lump crab with fresh and crispy greens. The bacon was a bit dry and under seasoned but holy cow was the slab thick and big! If I come back I might ask them to chop it up and put it in the Caroline crab salad--if I can remember! The sirloin steak was very good. I asked the for a "char of all chars" and they did not disappoint! It was seasoned just fine, and tender enough when I cut thinner slices. It was quite good. I'd get it again. The BV potatoes looked great and had a very nice crisp to them. They really could have used a ton less oil and a bit more seasoning. Way too oily from a technical point of view. Not sure if they used butter or not. The creamed spinach was excellent. Perfect amount of cream and steaming hot---might have been helped with a hair more garlic. So, the food was a solid 4 besides the potatoes, escargot and bacon which were between 2, 2 and 3 respectively. The service, lighting and acoustics fell short but were not bad--just not good and probably not average. Overall I'd give them a solid 3+. I go back year after year so suggest people go! Try it!
