Scallops with brie, peaches, and arugula (special)

Bridget's is a lovely steakhouse on the corner of the block, right in the heart of Ambler. I went with a girlfriend and we shared a bunch of things. It was very crowded for a Tuesday, I was surprised. I suggest making a reservation, regardless of the day. There are two rooms that you can dine in, one is in the back of the restaurant and the other is out front and surrounded by windows. I personally like the room by the windows so you can people watch! You can also sit in the bar area, that sits in the middle of the two dining rooms. The ambiance in the back dining room was fine, but a little bit noisy. I think this is likely a result of the bar being right next to the dining room without a wall separating the rooms. Our server was friendly and attentive too. The food was quite good. We ordered an appetizer that was on special: scallops with peaches and brie. The scallops were a tiny bit undercooked, but super flavorful and I loves the presentation with the peaches, Brie and arugula. We also shared a salad which they graciously split for us. For our entrees, I got the rack of lamb. It was EXCELLENT. It was cooked perfectly and crusted with pesto and panko. Just delicious! My friend got the ribeye on special and she also loved it. My main complaint with Bridget's was the timing of the food and drinks coming out. We wanted to start with cocktails, and our appetizer came out before our cocktails. The cocktails seemed to take a very long time. After the appetizer came out, we also ordered the salad to share which came out almost immediately, before we'd even started our cocktails or our appetizer. We waited to order our entrees because we didn't want them to come out before we had finished our cocktails. Overall Bridget's was good, but seeing as they're an upscale and expensive restaurant, I think certain elements of the experience could be improved upon, specifically the timing of the food. The staff was very friendly, but they need to coordinate better with each other on timing.

We have been to Bridget's a few times but this was the first time for restaurant week. The menu was very good with something for everyone. The staff is really professional and nice. Our server, Matt, was great! He explained the specials and had a wonderful sense of humor. After dinner we grabbed a drink at the bar. The bartenders were nice, and chatted with us. The drinks were great! The whole place is very inviting,

My girlfriend and I came on Valentine's Day with no reservations it was packed so we went to the upstairs bar to sit and luckily there were seats open! Both bartenders were lovely and took our food and drink orders. They gave us great food recommendations and were very nice! For our appetizers we got the caesar salad and tuna poke crunch. Caesar salad had such good flavor and crunch with the crumbles of crouton one of the best Caesar salads I've eaten. Tuna was so fresh, great quality and taste. For dinner we had the filet mignon, we ordered rare and it was a little too rare lol but quality of the meat was great and it tasted really good so we didn't have a huge issue with it! We finished every bite! For dessert our bar tender recommend the chocolate chip bread pudding and it did not disappoint! Warm and great taste! Definitely would go back soon if I lived closer!

Bridget's Steakhouse on Butler in downtown Ambler, PA, is a lovely smaller beef shop. It is dressed in dark tones with attractive horseshoe bar and three dining rooms on different levels. We took over one of them for our office anniversary celebration. 35 of us in the one room was a bit tight, but we managed. Service was excellent with Victor handling everything from wine service to order taking and table delivery and our individual needs throughout the evening with only a little help from his friends. He is a master in the service game and deserves a big shoutout. We ordered dinner off a limited menu. Our table of four went three for the Bridget's Filet Mignon and one for the Atlantic Salmon (moi). I loved the fish, especially the over the top glaze and mushrooms underneath. Exquisite. My mates wolfed down the filet like there was no tomorrow, so it's safe to say they were tre satisfied. Each entre came with salad and choice of dessert. Mixed Greens and Vanilla Ice Cream were good, if not stars in their own right. I do have three nits to pick. First, the acoustics in our room were awful. We are a very chatty bunch and I could not hear the people sitting right next to me without leaning in and concentrating. The room needs some sound sculpting . Second, the room became colder during the evening. Perhaps they were encouraging us to leave, but my table was shivering by 9:00. Third, our event began at 6, but we weren't served until nearly 8. That's too long for drinks and conversation. We were hungry when we arrived, drank on empty stomachs, and needed to sit down with chow much sooner than we did. The banquet manager really needed to have that worked out before we arrived. This all made for a disjointed party. I imagine that Bridget's is a perfect spot for a steak dinner date, but it needs some attention to larger gatherings. Perhaps our folks continued to talk too much while standing around, but someone needed to have a better handle on the logistics. 3.75 Beefy Stars

Short ribs & mashed potatoes & green beans w garlic butter

AMAZING!! If you love food w seasoning & flavor come here. I had multiple items for my sisters bridal shower party. Everything was cooked to perfection & tasted absolutely amazing. They started us off w these chicken bites w some type of drizzled sauce & scallions on top. Also tomato & mozzarella w a balsamic glaze of a stick. The real food came my niece got the salmon. I could not believe the size of this salmon I looked at others plates & they got the same huge size as her. I got the short ribs w green beans & mashed potatoes. Again another hefty size of meat & potatoes too. Dessert time. Chocolate chip bread pudding w a sauce over top. Holy Hannah amazing. The cheese cake was delicious too. If I had to knock this place I would probably only have to say the Caesar salad the lettuce was fresh the bread as the crouton was good but the actual dressing was a little on the blah side it wasn't potent in flavor. Also, there was a pasta w lobster dish that was served & very very little lobster in it. I did not have that dish but heard a few others make mention of that. We only had one server for the party she was quick, friendly & accurate. Sorry I didn't get her name. Also, not sure who made the drinks ( also didn't have one) but I heard they were heavy handed w the liquor. I think that is a plus if you ask me. This place is handicap accessible. Note there are 4 steps to get to the bathroom. Clean well kept building. Plenty of space. We had the entire left side of the restaurant w about 35 people & it didn't feel crowded at all. Also, the area we sat had huge windows from the front to the back to let in sun. I enjoyed that. I am definitely returning to this location & hope I enjoy it as much as the first go round.

Fancy steakhouse dining. Delicious food. Steak could be charred a little less, but overall cooked well. There is a variety of meat choices. Appetizers were phenomenal, especially the calamari. And desserts were icing on the cake. The restaurant is large and has many tables available for seating and huge bar area. The ambience is very social. Attire is casual to semi-formal. The service of the place was great. Waitresses and waiters were very friendly and accommodating with our needs. Parking can be tough, but there is a large parking lot (for the train) nearby. Overall, highly recommend trying this restaurant!

Solid dinner option in downtown Ambler with a good menu selection that offers something for everyone. It's not an "old school" steakhouse with monstrous sized steaks like you would get at a Smith & Wollensky but the food is solid and the servers are very friendly. This is definitely a local destination and many of the patrons seemed to know each other and the servers, which is always nice to see. A few highlights: 1. Lobster risotto: This is a must-try and the portion size is small enough to whet your appetite as a starter. The risotto is creamy, accented with parmesan, and comes with plenty of lobster meat. It's decadent yet still light. 2. Tuna duet: It's a solid duo of seared ahi and a tuna tartare which has a creamy, mayo base. 3. Ribeye: Solid but the cut is on the thin side - it's decent but not a match for the cajun ribeye from Smith & Wollensky's. This one is a respectable 14-16 oz vs a 20-24 oz bone-in. 4. Short ribs: Solid short rib served over a creamy, horseradish mashed potato base. 5. Jambalaya: Solid with a nice kick and plenty of jumbo shrimp. It's good but the flavors are not as complex as I have had at Creole venues - it will satisfy a craving in a pinch (and to be fair, there is NOT a plethora of jambalaya options in the area...). 6. Seafood Fra Diavolo: This was probably my favorite dish of the night with plenty of fresh JUMBO scallops and shrimp in a spicy tomato-based jus. The linguini itself was more cooked than my personal preference (which is more on the al dente side) but the overall dish was quite good. 7. Truffle fries: Solid fries with just a hint of truffle - don't use the ketchup as that will easily overpower the light truffle. 8. Brussels sprouts: A solid take on a classic with a sweet maple glaze. It's a good option for a group dinner close to home with a neighborhood vibe and great service.

Good service and ambience! Filet was good but a little overcooked. The sauce was not what I was expecting, but it was good. Mashed potatoes and green beans had good flavor but they were cold :( My husband got the cheesesteak, which he said was very peppery to the point it was not that enjoyable. 4 stars still because I'd def go back and try again! Seems like a great place.

Unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the reputation. We ordered Philly cheesesteaks, and while I was ready to taste something iconic, what I got was a black pepper overload. The seasoning completely overpowered the meat, which was disappointing. Even worse, the bread-to-meat ratio was way off. My roll was soggy, and no amount of mayonnaise or ketchup could save it. We also ordered onion rings and chicken tenders for our toddler. The onion rings were fried to the point of being rock hard. Not crispy, just tough. The chicken tenders were dry and flavorless. Our toddler ate some and said they were "good," but even she didn't want the leftovers the next day and neither did we. Hubby said to be fair, the staff was sweet and very accommodating, which we appreciated. However great service can't cover up subpar food. Sadly, High Steaks missed the mark for us, and in a city known for doing cheesesteaks right, that's a big letdown.

I loved the calamari too... especially the spicy dipping sauce! Since we did a few courses, I ended with a half portion of the summer cavatelli, which was one of my favorite pasta dishes I have ever had! It had corn, truffle, and goat cheese. We even got into a conversation about her trip to Peru, which was a really cool touch it felt natural, not forced, and made the whole experience better. We started with the Leche de Tigre, and it was a perfect opener, fresh, citrusy, and packed with flavor. You get that brightness from the lime with just the right kick, plus the calamari added a nice texture. We also tried one of the specials, the causa, which was light but still full of flavor and a great way to start. For the mains, we went all in. The Cowboy Steak (18 oz bone-in ribeye) was easily the highlight, cooked right, super flavorful, and paired with the huancaína risotto and that huacatay butter... yeah, that combo is no joke. We also had the pollo a la brasa (special, marinated 24 hours), and you can tell it was super juicy, well-seasoned, and done right. We also had the pasta con mariscos, and this one deserves its own mention. Homemade pasta with shrimp, calamari, and mussels in a chupe-style tomato broth rich, flavorful, and comforting without feeling too heavy. Definitely one of those dishes you keep going back to. And I'm not even exaggerating... the table bread with the butter? We were eating like it was part of the main course. That butter is ridiculously good. Dessert sealed it. The lava cake with lucuma ice cream was warm, rich, and balanced out perfectly by the ice cream. We also tried the house-made guanábana sorbet, which was light, refreshing, and the perfect way to finish after a heavy meal. The vibe is what really ties it all together. It's casual enough to hang out with friends and talk, but still nice enough for a date night or bringing family. It doesn't try too hard, and that's exactly why it works. The husband, Manuel (from Spain), is the head chef, and you can absolutely taste the care and authenticity in every dish. Cindy, who is from Panama, brings so much heart to the restaurant as well. We started with Prince Edward Island oysters and the crab salad, which had crispy bacon pieces for a great touch of texture and the crab was incredibly fresh -- such a perfect balance of flavors and crunch. It had been awhile since we dined there last. The problem, service. We arrived a bit early, but were sat right away. The server, Delroy had 5 tables, and we watched as he went back and forth to each table, being jovial and asking each table how was everything. He then came towards our table, and took a swift turn to give more water to the table next to us. He could have at least acknowledged us during his many table visits to every other table, but chose not to. After about 10-15 minutes of waiting he finally decided to greet us. My wife and I do not drink alcohol and the look of disgust on his face when he was removing the wine glasses from our table was quite obvious. At that point he figured a low check amount without selling a bottle of wine, so the effort to give a great dining experience went to zero immediately. He told us the specials and disappeared for another 15 mins. He came back to take our order, and that was the last time he visited our table! We never saw him again. The non alcoholic drinks were delivered by the back waiter, and may I say she was incredibly attentive to us. We were delighted by the appetizer, shrimp and crabmeat in a garlic sauce. Then the entrees came out. We actually enjoyed the appetizer so much, had Delroy decided to visit our table again, or bother to check how everything came out, we would have ordered another one. I wanted another drink, but was unable to get one because he was making multiple table visits to all the other tables, telling stories about his wine experiences, but again, never returned to our table, not even once! We really wanted to order the crème brûlée for dessert as it was my wife's favorite and we were celebrating her birthday, but he refused to come to our table. At this point, we just wanted to pay the check and leave, go somewhere to get dessert and celebrate her birthday. We finished our meal, and I actually had to call out to him as he passed our table to get his attention for the check, he glanced over and said, "one minute" and kept walking. Then he starting walking our way and just passed our table again, and went to water the table next to us for the fourth time, before turning around, staring at me, without a word, as I asked for the check. He said, "no dessert"? I said no, just the check. He sent the back waiter with the check, then picked it up from the table, after processing it, dropped it on our table without a word, and walked away. Against my better judgement, I still left him a 20% gratuity. We left and went elsewhere to celebrate.

There are no words to describe what an experience this was; yet, I will attempt to do so anyway…read more The first thing that should've been a sign to leave was the sheer amount of Eiffel Tower commodities plastered all over the restaurant. The second thing happened a few minutes after being seated. We sat down in our uneven chairs, at our uneven table, when we were suddenly overwhelmed by a pungent smell. We look to our left and see that the table next to us had ordered what seemed to be a salt-baked fish. I cannot describe this smell faithfully, I can only ask you to imagine the oldest, almost completely rotted seafood odor you've ever smelled. It was 100x worse. I honestly don't know if our neighbors next to our table even survived after eating... there's truly no way to tell. At this point we had received our food. My poor mother ordered Steak frites. What arrived was the flesh of a corpse of road-kill, probably a poor unassuming deer hit by oncoming traffic. My father ordered Coq au Vin, which ended up being bare chicken on a plate with no trace of red wine whatsoever. Genuinely why does this restaurant have such success when they serve old/nearly rotted food; one can only wonder...
