We took my out-of-town Midwestern parents here for dinner tonight. So great!!! I wish I knew the name of my server but she was fabulous! We had excellent service, without a doubt the best I've had post Covid... and the food was deeeeelish!! The small plate apps were great to share and everything was tasty. We sat on the patio and it overlooked the entrance to the IB Beach and it was so nice! They had heaters out there which made it the perfect temp post sunset. I definitely recommend! We weren't able to make reservations (I'm not exactly sure why but they told us to just come on in) but we decided to chance going without resos and it was a good decision! One of the best kept secrets is how much the scene in IB has improved and continues to get better. A recent addition I noticed was the Brigantine and although it's an established eatery, opening up in Imperial Beach never crossed my mind. But there I was on a Saturday afternoon and there were tables open and I was thirsty and hungry and more or less wanted to try something else than Sea 180. We opted for the Chardonnay to pair with the crab and shrimp fondue and the side ceasar salad. We were starving when we got there but the small plates were perfect for sharing this spring day. The staff there was so polite and accommodating too! Our server noticed that our garlic toast was barely a smidge toasty and gave us a whole new order! This is a total jewel in IB and although it's a little smaller than any other Brigantine, it'll make you feel special. read more

The Brigantine brand rarely disappoints, and this location was no exception. I wasn't even looking for it, just wanted to enjoy the SDSU game somewhere along the beach, and I happened upon this spot. My mom took me to lunch here today for my birthday. I asked for bread and they brought out croutons with cheese on them even though we asked for a baguette since they were out of their signature bread. Those went untouched. They didn't look Appetizing at all. I ordered the macadamia coconut shrimp and I did not taste one iota of coconut or macadamia flavor. They were breaded fried shrimp, nothing beyond that. Quite plain. My mom got the fish tacos and her dish looked quite good and I know she enjoyed it. The "coconut macadamia" shrimp left a lot to be desired, though. Wow, just finished my prebirthday brunch: We started with a shrimp and crab fondue. I ordered Ribeye steak and eggs with asparagus and grilled onions and a pomagranite sangria. My wife had a shrimp and crab louie salad. Our server Tara was very cool. The beach atmosphere is awsome, the music was at an appropriate level. All in all a super experience. One thing, parking can be a bear. I parked about 3 blocks away, but you might get lucky. Personally I don't like to waste time, gas or pollute the atmosphere. read more

My only gripe today was when I ordered a happy hour Moscow mule-- I asked if I could sub the vodka for well tequila(I'm allergic to vodka) and they said no, they'd have to charge me for a full price mule... ok... weird. I am a frequent visitor to this restaurant. Had some margaritas. I loved my bartenders Tara and Kat they have always given amazing suggestions. Unfortunately, me and my partner had to see a male employee yelling at one of our bartenders. Unprofessional to see a male employee yelling at another female employee in that manner. Food here is incredible. It has some dishes that seem Michelin star to me. The first night I ate here I had macadamia crusted mahi mahi with an amazing risotto. My husband had their steak with truffles. We ate it all up which we rarely do. Service was enthusiastic and friendly and seemed proud to work here. We went back and I had the most amazing miso salmon with a cauliflower purée with mushrooms, carrots and Edamame. It was SO GOOD. Our waitress told us they refine and improve dishes frequently. I sure loved this place and I am a foodie and decent cook. The location is great right near the pier at Imperial Beach. Parking is easily found on the street. read more

Let me explain my 1 star rating. Staff is great, location and food are great (although we didn't eat this time) but they have a HUUUUUUGGGE bar gnat problem. Tonight with the sun shining through the bar, these little fuckers were everywhere. And by everywhere, they were starting from the tops of all of their liquor bottles in their well, but I'm sure some have made the journey into the bottles and well, you're drinking them. We had beers, but we kept our glasses covered the entire time. Waited forever for water to get refilled Oysters were probably the worst I've ever tasted not fresh at all and this is a seafood restaurant Soup never came We complain to one of the employees and told them to cancel our whole order and we just left still got charged for the oysters and the one margarita. Visited recently on 10/23 and have been to this location 4x over the last 12 mos. The place is lovely and looks out at the pier in IB so that's all top notch. They've got a good selection of beer & wine and drinks are reasonably priced. Regardless, their fare always manages to be a few levels below their sister locations. Oysters always seem to have a few with shell in them, the tender items (like octopus) are just over cooked and the fish tacos are not just forgettable but actually regrettable. Brigantine has been a favorite of mine for some time now. Having them close to home is awesome. Staff has always been super friendly and they have a good selection of beer and liquor. We moved to IB a little over a year ago and this quickly became our go to restaurant. The staff is super friendly and the food is delish! My favorite meal is the Cesar salad, 6 oysters, and a gin and tonic (or two). The happy hour prices really make this easy to repeat week after week. read more
