Came here for lunch - cute French place! It's hard to get in during weeknights I hear. Loved their lunch special. It was a little on the higher side price wise but the flavors were perfect! I had a bisque that was amazing! The flatbread was pretty tasty too. The only dish that I didn't love were the crepes. But it's worth dining here for sure.

Holy Diamond in the Rough! Was traveling with my Manager to check out the hotel our event was going to be held at, and we got hungry, asked Julianna at the hotel for a recommendation and without hesitation told us to come here and ask for Julie. A short 1 minute walk away we found it and Julie was the one to meet us at the door, super kind, super attentive, and just absolutely friendly! Cute little space with an upstairs area, and the bathroom was quite the experience. The menu looked incredible and I had a hard time choosing and asked her to help. Her lunch special had a main, a compliment, and Fries (if you wanted). I ended up getting the smoked salmon flatbread (from her recommendation), the lobster bisque, and truffle Fries. Wow, just wow! The French influence from Julie was very present and the food was INCREDIBLE! My manager and I were absolutely amazed. We walked out and then realized we should return with the rest of our team when we have our conference, and got her information to book! 10/10 hidden gem!

First time visit to San Diego (August, sister trip), and we decided to grab lunch here. Wow! This place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food was delicious! First, the owner promptly greeted us and took our order. We started with the baguette, and then onto our main meals. My sister went for the Chicken Pesto Sandwich while I went for the Seafood Paella. Everything was amazing! The canned alcoholic beverages were ok - not what I had expected. We did leave room for dessert - went for the Crème Brulée (superb) and also opted to bring back a box of their macarons to the hotel (perfect for late night snacks). Overall pleasant experience, and worth the stop if you're visiting.

A slice of tapas heaven in downtown. Truly the best dinner we have had in San Diego in a long time. The garlic shrimp with baguette was divine, so succulent and the bread that comes with it is expertly executed, crispy on the outside soft on the inside. It soaks up the broth so perfectly. I consider myself a lobster bisque aficionado and this was the most flavorful one I've had in years. The service was impeccable. Julie was fantastic. She is a powerhouse, she zipped around the early evening rush and made sure everything was as it should be. The food is made fresh to order and truly nothing disappointed us. From start to finish our meal was highly enjoyable. I can't wait to go back.

I just love this place!! The food is excellent.. through my multiple visits over a couple years, I probably tried most items on the menu: the flatbreads, salads, baked brie, pasta, mussels, French burger - OMG - that one was insanely good - I had it yesterday... with Brie, avocado, and truffle fries!!! To die for! Julie - the owner - is awesome - very sweet and bubbly, always welcoming, and with such a great sense of humor!! The ambience is cool: urban and modern, with a French twist that shows in every detail... I also appreciate that they utilize modern technology and make it so easy to pay or split the bill just using your phone. TBH, this review is really overdue... not only I enjoy having lunch or dinner at the place, but through the years, I also held a couple of Christmas parties at their upstairs loft, and these were also amazing! Thanks so much Julie and the team!!! I truly appreciate you and all your hard work!!

What a spot! The food was delicious!!! We had everything from sausage to soup to flatbread and it was all delicious. The service was beyond words. A full house with only 2 servers and they still were clearing tables. They receive a lot of traffic right before the plays at both theaters here downtown. The outside is fantastic with the heaters and the inside also seems nice with a blend between industrial and comfortable. The baguette and the baked brie are a must!

Decided to check it out since I was downtown. Food is very delicious and just right. Had the lunch special and salmon flatbread with dill and cream cheese spread and the Peqch Burrqta salad and water. Also tasted the truffle fries. Service was excellent and you can pay by card or phone. Not crowded and we could converse without issue. Ambiance is casual but classy. All high top tables inside, regular tables up front for the wheelchair accessible. Highly recommend if it is in your budget. Enough television screens for sports events.

Great place downtown. Rustic interior. Good happy hour. Amazing service. Very friendly. Good selection of beer and wine. Salads, appetizers and seafood and desserts.

Dry rose - amazing and crisp. And watermelon white sangria

The service by the owner was impeccable, she was so very sweet and knowledgeable and guided us so well. We ordered the sausage sampler, mushroom and Brie bites, the caprese, garlic shrimp, and fresh bread and all items were GREAT. Highly recommend the bread with fresh French butter and the mushroom Brie bites which had complex flavors. We also ordered the white sangria, but it was a little watermelon heavy for me- but it was FRESH - it was just my preference. We sat outside, nothing fancy but it was a gorgeous day. Definitely recommend this good spot.

Mushrooms and brie on baguette, so good with a honey drizzle.

Ended up in this place after going to the theatre. It was very good and the owners take pride in their work and they make sure to serve you well. If you are in downtown make sure to check it out! They also have happy hour all week. I hope to come back soon

This time around, it was just the 3 of us, to chat over some wine and apps. Had their April featured Pinot, which was amazing (had 2 glasses). It's good to keep in mind that they only sell their flatbreads on certain days and unfortunately, they didn't serve it when we went. So, instead we had the crostinis, which is perfect if you want a little bit of everything, but not sure what to get. My friend got the chicken Caesar wrap, and it was a lot bigger than expected. As far as the ambience, there's seating all around the bar that's located in the middle. So it's convenient to just walk up to the bar to place your order. Servers and bartenders were friendly and quick. Overall this is a great laid-back place for small or large groups.

First, I still really enjoy the Carruth Wine Garden. It is nice to have an outdoor space to drink wine right in the center of the city. In general there plenty of parking ,and it is dog friendly. As far as the wine, it is very good. I like some more than others. More recently, I have enjoyed the Unicorn Red Blend ( a longtime favorite) and the Syrah. I love that it is dog friendly, inside and out. My dog loves going there and she makes friends each time. A change that they made recently is that the main garden area is now child-free, which was a positive change in my options, as it had gotten a bit chaotic in the past with children not being very well supervised. The still have a family-friendly outdoor space. In the past, there was always live music when I came. I was there most recently on a Saturday evening and was disappointed that there was no music. Also, the prices have gone up ($18 per glass). Unfortunately, I found the pours to be somewhat inadequate, though it depended which staff member was pouring the wine. They do not allow for outside food, and only make certain dishes certain days of the week, which unfortunately doesn't allow for many options if you are hungry. Water is readily available inside and outside. All in all, it is a lovely place with good wine to come with friends and your 4-legged friends. It has gotten a bit pricey, and I do wish we could bring out own snacks, but I still enjoy going and am sure that I will be back.

So I turned around and stopped in. What I found was a quaint, tucked-away, almost inconspicuous spot delivering food and hospitality at a level that honestly borders on absurd for how unassuming it appears from the outside. The service was warm, polished, and intuitive without ever feeling pretentious. Hats off to both chefs, Christi and Mark for making me feel welcome. The wine pairings? Thoughtful, balanced, and exactly what you hope for from a restaurant that actually respects food. And then there's the burger. This thing reads like poetry: Ribeye and NY strip trim blend, cooked like a proper steak (medium rare, the only correct answer here), melted gouda, a soft house potato roll, all resting in a luxurious bordelaise sauce that would make a French chef nod in approval. Seriously. This is not a "burger joint burger." This is a chef-driven, butcher-minded expression of beef. Every bite tastes intentional. The bordelaise underneath ties the entire thing together with this deep, glossy richness that elevates it from comfort food into something bordering on fine dining. Places like this are why I still love discovering restaurants organically. No hype machine. No gimmicks. Just confidence, technique, restraint, and execution. This very unassuming little spot has Michelin written all over it.

There's literally more dogs than people. They have sketchy chairs outside for you to wait until their heart desires. One tip for this desperate little place: time your tables to 90 mins max. You don't have the square footage nor the grit to keep it up. I do not recommend this place to myself nor anyone else. I am banning myself indefinitely from Juan Jaspar. Trust your gut people.
