Cup of Clam Chowder
Cindy O.

Stopped in for a light lunch. On nice afternoon, sitting on the patio waa so nice. Great view of the water across street! Service was great from the start, friendly young lady working the front. Our server, Steven F, very friendly and helpful. Our food came out pretty quick as well! We all ordered cups of Clam Chowder, split a Brigitine Salad, and Soft Pretzels. Chowder was very good along with the salad. Pretzels were a bit too doughy and soft (reminded us of mall pretzels) and dipping sauces just okay, mustard(s) would be a better choice. Overall a good experience and woukd recommend.

Brunch Date at @brigantineseafood - Imperial Beach We parked right across the street for just $2 (win!) and walked in around noon on Sunday. You guys, the weather was chef's kiss: sunny with a light breeze. We grabbed a table at the bar and in the sun and honestly... perfection. The macadamia nut + coconut-crusted French toast immediately caught my eye so I paired it with scrambled eggs. Hubby went for the skirt steak chilaquiles and said it was fire. This spot is our go-to when we want beach vibes without fighting the crowds. They also accept OpenTable reservations, so if you're coming during peak brunch hours, book ahead. And for my drinkers... when I was still drinking, I always loved their Brig Margarita, and the Brig Mule was another fave. Imperial Beach + brunch + breeze = always a good idea.

This is a biased review as not only was I relatively intoxicated here and potentially made some friends, but this is also waaayy too close to my new apartment, and I will certainly end up here again. And I didn't even drink that much.....in my opinion. The drinks here are REALLY strong. Like, I get an old fashioned fairly often, and I've almost never gotten one this strong. I was practically in Narnia prancing with fauns after the first glass. One of these cocktails is like........five cocktails on Coronado. Lol. I also got a chowder and fish tacos with coleslaw and chips. But since I was already on drugs, I don't want to review them in detail except to say that they were all good.

Visited this location for happy hour and it was delicious and perfect. The service was fenomenal and the happy hour food was beyond amazing! Will return many more times. The ambiance was chill and loved that it was pet friendly!

This was supposed to be an update. I went out of my way to come to this restaurant. I had been here previously and had a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and the service was excellent. There's an area for people with dogs. It is a welcome place with comfortable seating.

First off, I lived say our waitress was absolutely fantastic! She was very upfront about all the service and the food options. Very attentive check on this multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed as well. Kat has been here 8yrs

Half Dozen Oysters

They claim to be an oyster bar while serving small little peanut sized dishes. I was in shock when I saw the size of my meal I needed to order another half dozen just to feel like I had an appetizer. There's way better places to spend your money. Very disappointed

Been here a couple of times when visiting SD and always an excellent time. Service is great, food is wonderful, happy hour specials lovely, and location across the street to walk off at the pier, perfection. Parking is a little crazy but you do what you gotta do.

BRIG CLASSIC CALAMARI STRIPS
Clay T.

In town visiting and decided to check out the Pier. Brigantine is right at the start of it with some lovely outdoor seating and big doors opening to the inside. Was sat very quickly on a Monday afternoon. A little confusion between who was our server or not, but drinks and food came quick. Oysters were all very good for the happy hour price as well as some calamari and salads on the side. Overall a nice joint for some quick eats before walking around!

I wish there was a way to make a 3.5 stars. For happy hour, they have an amazing menu with great prices. The service was pretty friendly, but my food wasn't the best. I ordered the limp calamari sticks and it came with some weird cheese sauce that I didn't care for. The ahi slider was trash, but the table next ours looked delicious and totally different. After I complained, they insisted to remove it from my bill. Of course any place you eat with a beach scene is always gonna have great ambiance.

First time experiencing this restaurant in IB and they did not disappoint. From service to flavor everything was spot on! Heard they have a great happy hour so will be coming back

Fried artichokes

Absolutely amazing dishes. Fried fish was gold and tasty, the octopus is served on such a nice mix of caramelized onion, kale, chickpeas and chorizo, the macadamia crusted Mahi was such a generous portion and served with such a good risotto. And the French 75 drink is superb! Everything was excellent, my favorite restaurant.

Brig Margarita and water. Water is good for more Margarita :).

Sevilla Valentine's Day Edition:…read more Pardon the delay, amigos! It's been a lengthy week! But I digress! You're here for the deets! Like every boyfriend who wants to show his adoration for his gorgeous girlfriend, I planned this event a few weeks ago. Commitment & dedication are key. Flamenco Show, 3 course dinner for two, AND dancing after?! Yeah, your amigo has it covered! This package is available on their website, and not only on Valentine's. But this day does make it more romantic! A minor 5-10 minute wait as we stepped out of our Uber to the front entrance of the club adjacent to the restaurant. Our lovely hostess greeted us & escorted us downstairs to pick our table. There were no specific table reservations, but all seats are good, as it's a small venue. The Love Gods smiled upon us and granted a table close to the front with an awesome view of the stage. Perfect table for the perfect date! Starters set the tone. What's this? A Welcome Charcuterie Platter?! It appears out of nowhere as our server takes our drink orders. The service here is impeccable! Impressive spread of cheesy, meaty goodness! The Shaved Jamón Serrano Ensalada Sevillana has a wonderfully zesty citrus vinaigrette that makes you clack your castanets! Ole!! Cocktails for the cute couple! A Oaxacan Flower for my Monterrey Mami! My gal loves her some mezcal! I opted for El Matador Margarita, because I know what I want...tequila! Plus the cucumber counts as healthy! I will die on this hill! The Main Course is the star of the show. And in full diva fashion, the Lobster Paella Valenciana stole the spotlight! A masterfully, monstrous mix of meat & seafood, all on top of some bomb-a** Saffron Bomba Rice! There's even a lobster tail in case you're still hungry! Queue the Flamenco show. The two dancers were elegant, the music was powerful, the singer sublime! Enjoy your dinner to a phenomenal 2 part show put on by very talented artists! We got to meet them after the show, as they personally thanked practically every guest! Elegant as their artform! Lest we forget the dessert! The Flourless Chocolate Cake was just the right amount of sweetness to cap off the dinner & show, as we shared our own sweet nothings. Love & Chocolate, a perfect combo, just like my beloved beauty & her humble narrator. As the performers were packing up & saying their final goodbyes, the staff was clearing the space for the last part of our adventure...dancing! A brief 15ish minute wait back outside & back inside we went! Got a great spot up front by the stage, but be aware the only sitting will be done by the VIP section. I believe it's bottle service only, but you can ask. We didn't, as we did not intend to sit at all! We boogied down, baby! The DJ did a great job keeping the vibe alive. Perfect ending to a perfect night. *Caveat - The dinner menu has other options & several a la carte items, if you so choose. Check their website for specific package info. You cannot go wrong. TL:DR - Never give up on love!

The general manager came over and chitchatted with our table. I was the one who called the meeting, I chose the place via Yelp reviews. However, when the GM found out it was all three of our first time he proceeded to hand out his card. The guy that met me there was handed one, then my son who lives in Irvine was handed one. However, when I reached my hand out, he hesitated. I told him we don't live together (speaking of my son who was sitting next to me) and he started to hand it to me, but then pulled it back. He informed me it's in case we come back... funny, our topic of conversation that day was how hard it was for women growing up in my era and working their way up the ladder... how times have changed. Upon leaving, my guest laughed and said his wife would've gone ballistic at how the only woman at the table was treated. The GM appeared to look like we were the same age. I was quite insulted by his behavior. I hope something can be learned for my honest review. I did get a card, but I don't think I'll be back.

I really enjoyed the thoughtfulness. Everything about this place was great for us. I like that their menu is on the simpler side, especially the drinks. They added their own flare, but didn't go crazy like many places do nowadays. I had a simple Veranda Bell to start, which was lovely and refreshing. My guy got the Diablita, which was also very tasty and a great choice. For our meals, we got the Spanish Octopus and the Pork Shank. The octopus flavors were very enjoyable, especially the chimichurri. The popcorn was an interesting change, but I do think it would've been better without it since some pieces were very hard and took away from the overall dish. The pork shank was cooked perfectly and fell off the bone like butter. They gave a nice amount of polenta and mushrooms with the dish. I don't think they needed as much sauce as they put, but it didn't take away from the overall dish.

I ordered the brussels sprouts and the paella, and both were outstanding. The brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, crispy where they should be, with a sauce that I'm still thinking about. The paella? Let's just say I have zero regrets eating every last bite. Zero. But honestly, the food almost plays second fiddle to the owner, Julie. She was running the show (the front of the house) solo while I was there, managing the business and somehow still being the most attentive and present host I've encountered in a long time. She's warm, funny, completely down to earth, and had stories that made the whole meal feel like a dinner party rather than a restaurant visit. It's rare to meet a business owner so genuinely personable and connected to her guests. Tapas & Beers is a family-owned French and Spanish gem tucked into a historic downtown building, and it absolutely deserves your visit. If you're in San Diego and this is on your radar, stop hesitating and just go. You'll leave full, happy, and probably already planning your next trip back.

I had sort of been to Monkeybar several years back when I used Resort Pass to spend a day lounging by the pool. At that time, I had walked up to the bar several times for mimosas, but mainly spent time at the pool rather than in the bar. This time, it was a chilly January evening and we walked in to find that there was a convention at the hotel, so it was pretty packed. The decor was modern, but the bar itself was really just a hotel lobby bar. I was hoping it would have a bit more character. There was a DJ playing, which was cool, but it also was pretty loud making it difficult to catch up with my friend. We struggled as the indoor area was loud and the outdoor area was really cold. The couple of outdoor tables that had fire pits were already taken by convention-goers. Finally, we chose to sit on the outside area of the bar, which was still chilly, but was quiet enough so that we could chat. Anyway, I was a bit hungry, and had been hoping for a salad, but there were none on the menu. We chose to share the edamame hummus. They did have some decent sounding cocktails on the menu, but we were in the mood for wine. We both chose glasses of Malbec. The Malbec was decent, so I had a second glass. Our bartender was friendly, but out hummus was forgotten. After I asked, he expedited our order. I enjoyed the hummus and the variety of veggies. As it got colder, we moved inside when the DJ ended. Parking is free with validation, however mine did not get validated correctly by the bartender. I explained to the parking attendant and he let me go. All in all, it was a decent place to talk with a friend over a glass of wine. I think it would be a nice bar if I were staying in the hotel, but not special enough to make the trip. I do think the atmosphere might be much more lovely on a summer weekend, as sitting outside by the pool would be very nice.
