Just had my second visit and my first cleaning here. I was greeted by Araceli who is so friendly and helpful. It was a brief wait before I was seated in a dental chair. Lorena was the dental asst who started my cleaning and she was gentle and very committed to the task (yikes to the buildup). She was also easy to talk to and funny! Dr. Hou, who finished my cleaning, was quick and gentle. Lorena assisted with suctioning and continued to ask if I was doing okay. It was, honestly, the best cleaning I've had. My first visit was for X-rays and a consultation with Dr. Hou. She was very professional and informative. I do need some work but the office manager and other staff have been helpful and transparent with respect to cost and insurance, which I really appreciate. I've been very wary of the dentist because I was afraid of the condition my teeth were in after avoiding the dentist for a few years, but I'm looking forward to making them my permanent dentist and will be getting future work done here. :) read more

Dr. Kim and her staff are just wonderful! I came in about a month ago for a check up after not seeing a dentist for a very long time and everyone there made me feel welcome and comfortable. I was nervous about being guilted for not seeing a dentist in while, but they did not do that. Lorena, the hygienist, was super sweet and reassured me the whole time. I also went in to inquire about Invisalign. That day I was already getting my impressions done! I had been thinking about it for a while! After the checkup they let me know I would need to return for two crowns, a deep cleaning, a filling, and of course to return for my new aligners. I went back today for one of the crowns, the filling, and the deep cleaning. The procedure was virtually painless, minus the numbing! And my new crown looks flawless. I will need to return to finish the rest, but overall I'm super satisfied. Thank you to all the staff, Denise included, for being patient and so friendly. It definitely makes the whole going to the dentist experience much more enjoyable! Can't wait to return and get my aligners. I was a patient at Bright Smile for approximately 5 years. I found Dr. Kim to be too aggressive. I don't like being manhandled. However her fillings and inlays were quality. Dr. Lee was less aggressive in style but her filling cracked after just 4 months. When I returned to have it fixed, the office was going to charge me $200 because now my tooth required an inlay. I refused to pay. I felt they should honor work done on a tooth so recently. Someone made a reference to tires. "Teeth are like tires, they wear out". I told her, "If I buy a new tire and 4 months later it explodes, I'd bet the tire shop would give me a new free tire". read more

I had just joined delta dental. I needed a check-up and cleaning. I was given a treatment plan that said I had 2 cavities and needed to have a crown removed and a root canal done. For example to have a cleaning I needed $600 for novocaine shots. Way over priced. I went to my old dentist to have the treatment plan evaluated. The 2 cavities were just stains. The crown was fine. So I went to my periodontist for the cleaning for $160. Bright smile total was $1267. It appears that Bright smile will charge as much as they can. You would be better served elsewhere. read more

I had a terrible experience here with my Invisalign and a crown. Not only did they add extra time to how long I was supposed to have on my Invisalign, but my bite is so much worse and they aren't doing anything to help me fix it. They also charged double for the crown and I didn't find out until my insurance let me know how much they should have charged me - which of course they didn't flag to me until I called them out on it. I began using my Invisalign when Dr. Kim was at the location in Pico Rivera. Then, without any notice, the location was moved to Pasadena so I had to travel an extra 25 minutes. I didn't even find out until I had an appointment scheduled and they just happened to mention the new location address. Once I stopped using the Invisalign liners, my bite was ruined. My back molars don't touch which is really strange. My bottom incisors were supposed to be tucked behind my top incisors and instead they lie right underneath (which is horrible as that was one of the reason why I got the Invisalign). I expressed this to Dr. Kim's staff and they said that my retainers would help after a month of wearing them, but it's been 4-5 months and my teeth have not gotten better. I even called them again last week to see what they could do to help, they said the doctor would call me back and I never heard back. To make a long story short, I Don't recommend this office as they did nothing but overcharge me, make my bite worse and aren't helping me fix their mistake. read more

I have been going to bright smile dental for years! One of my favorite things about this office is that they have appointment times that can work with almost anyone's schedule. I typically start work at 8 and 2 days out of the week they open at 6:00 am. It's early but it works with my schedule and I don't have to take additional time off of work to make my dental appointments. Dr. Michelle Kim and associates are honest and do amazing work. They have squeezed me in at the last minute when I have had a dental concern. They are passionate about their patients and take their time with you. They answer any questions you may have and you never feel like they are trying to rush you out. This last visit I had on July 1st went really well. I had 2 cavities filled and got the best care possible. My teeth look great astheticly especially when I smile, nobody would ever know I had a cavity filled. Lastly Denise is a great office manager. She calls to remind you of your appointments, provides payment options, and is very knowledgeable about what your insurance covers. She is so friendly and easy to talk too! This review is long overdue, but I feel it is important as I nearly got conned into some unnecessary and expensive work. I went to Bright Smile as a new patient and had my x-rays and everything done. The assistants, to their credit, were patient and kind. Then came time for the dentist, Dr. Kim, to do her work. She had barely finished saying her name before aggressively digging into my teeth. My comfort seemed to be a nonfactor for her. She then pronounced that my teeth/gums were in terrible shape and that I had multiple cavities which needed immediate work as well as a costly deep cleaning. I had been to another dentist months before and I keep fairly good hygiene so I was not convinced. Nevertheless, Dr. Kim repeatedly tried to pressure me into receiving these treatments. Instead, I went to see another dentist for a second opinion. I did not have cavities, nor did I need a deep cleaning; I have been to other dentists multiple times since this visit and my teeth are in fine shape. The dental group I visit now has a far more modern and clean office, gentle dentists, and free beverages in the waiting area, and most importantly, doesn't try to pressure me into unnecessary treatment.
