Unlike our previous experience where we were able to book ahead of time and plan for our pup's passing, this was a circumstance where our baby needed immediate services -- his body was failing. Once I saw our senior 13-yr old pup was telling me it was okay, I called Dr. Gonzalez at 7pm. She was at our home by 10pm. Our pup had been sick for several years, and in that last week, our primary vet had already told us his health was declining, so we at least knew the end was near. And I had already mentally prepared to be strong and let him go when he needed to -- so I had Dr. Gonzalez's number on hand. We live in an apartment building, so we reserved a spot for her in our lot as close as possible to an exit. She came upstairs to our home, and she had brought all her equipment. I had already imagined how I wanted this experience to go for my once in a lifetime soul pup. I sat on his favorite place on the sofa, and I had him in my lap. Dr. Gonzalez gave me a pee pad to wrap around him within the blanket understanding there could be an accident in the process as his body released his spirit. I had a candle lit. I had soft music playing. We had low lighting on to honor what was about to happen. Dr. Gonzalez was also super accommodating to our 2nd puppy who was curious about her and wondering what was happening to his big brother. She didn't shoo him away -- she invited us to keep the puppy around so he can know his big brother was about to pass on. She gave us time to speak to Nuxx, love on him, and then let him go. Then, it finally happened. And Dr. Gonzalez stepped out of our apartment for awhile, giving our little family time to grieve, sob, and hold our baby close. Our puppy sniffed him too and said his goodbyes. Then she came back, and she asked us if we wanted to be the ones to carry him out or she was happy to do so. My husband carried him, myself and our puppy followed along -- felt like a procession down our apartment hallway. We got to Dr. Gonzalez's car, and we gently placed our baby's body in her car, and said our goodbyes again. Then...it was done. Throughout the experience, Dr. Gonzalez was so incredibly supportive, gentle, understanding, and patient. What else can you ask for when such a heartbreaking thing is occurring? When a spirit is literally fading in your arms? I am still not over losing him, but at least I know we gave him the most peaceful send-off we could: in his own home, in our arms, surrounded by so much love. If / when we need to go through again, I will continue to call on Dr. Gonzalez. RIP Nuxx.

My most recent experience, however, was extremely disappointing. I was about 15 minutes late to my appointment and was told they wanted to cancel it because of the delay. The problem is that when the appointment was scheduled, I was never told that being 15 minutes late could result in cancellation. What makes this even more frustrating is that almost every time I've come here, I've personally had to wait 30-45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. The bigger issue was the pricing. When I scheduled the appointment two weeks in advance, I was told that because my dog is now 10 years old, a veterinarian examination was required. I was quoted $75 for the exam, plus approximately $60-$70 for the vaccines and anal gland expression. We discussed the pricing over the phone, so I arrived expecting that approximate total. Instead, I was given a bill of approximately $230 for the exam, vaccines, and anal gland expression. In previous years, I had paid around $63 for the same routine services. When I questioned the significant price difference, I was given explanations about increased costs and expenses. I completely understand that prices can increase, but the customer should be informed of the actual price before the appointment, especially when I specifically called two weeks in advance to ask about the cost. What happened next was even more disappointing. I decided to move my dog to another veterinarian and asked for her medical records. Instead of simply helping me with the transfer, I was questioned and accused of potentially altering the records using AI. I was honestly shocked by that accusation. After being a loyal customer for years, this experience completely changed my opinion of the practice. I'm not upset that prices can increase. I'm upset about the lack of transparency, the inconsistent communication, and the way I was treated when I questioned the charges and requested my dog's records. I'm now looking for a new veterinarian where I can feel that transparency, honesty, and trust come before making a sale.

Dr. Linda Jackson went above and beyond to save my cat last week…read more I had brought Roo into the hospital on a Saturday night and my cat is semi feral, so although she's sweet and gentle with me, not so much with anyone else. Roo was extremely dehydrated from throwing up and diarrhea, which had gone on for a few days. She was so weak that it wasn't difficult to get her into the carrier, but I knew examining her, much less giving much needed fluids and an anti vomiting shot would be a challenge, to say the least. No disrespect to the crew on Saturday night, but the doctor on call was young and admitted he had not had experience handling a semi feral cat. We tried explaining the way we had seen her examined in the past (through the top of the carrier with a towel over her head), but he ended up having to anesthetize her because she tried to run away when they were examining her. They administered fluids, clipped her nails, and did bloodwork - which showed she most likely had Pancreatitis. We took her home and hoped for the best. She did not however, improve and it took her over 24 hours to come out of sedation. She was crawling around on her belly crying and I thought for sure she was dying, having not eaten in almost 4 days at that point. I rushed her back to the hospital and hit the jackpot - Dr. Jackson was there. She is the medical director of the hospital, and had been highly recommended to us in the waiting room the first time we were there by other patrons. I was so happy that she would be the doctor examining Roo. Dr. Jackson came into the room I had been waiting in, sat down next to me and her warmth and empathy were extremely appreciated - and needed at that point. She discussed a plan with me: to try and give more fluids and an anti nausea shot. She explained that the shot Roo had previously been given was an anti vomiting shot, but that an anti nausea shot would help Roo get her appetite back and get her on the path of recovery faster. Dr. J said she was going to attempt to get the fluids into Roo without sedation?! She said she thought we could do it with the help of a technician, and with me being in the room to stand in front of Roo, petting her and talking to her to reassure her. With the help of Isaiah, Dr. J got a shot in AND fluids under Roo's skin -- without sedation! It was incredible to witness and be a part of. I've never been allowed in the room with any of my rescues when they are receiving medical attention, this was a first - and it was incredibly moving. Dr. J was so gentle - and she insisted the fluids were warm before giving them - that was also something I had never seen. She explained that receiving cold fluids, especially to an animal already in pain/frightened was jarring, while warm fluids were soothing. Dr. Jackson was so kind and wise and gentle - this is/was the best experience I have ever had with a vet - and I have rescued many dogs and cats over the last 20 years. Dr. Jackson has made this crazy, and mostly cruel world a bit warmer, a bit softer and definitely brighter.

I felt like their priority was my dog's health and well-being, not making assumptions about my finances or immediately focusing on money before even examining him. After my previous experience, it was such a relief to be treated with compassion and respect and, most importantly, to see my dog receive the care and attention he deserved. This experience confirmed why I was so disappointed with my visits here. Pet owners should never feel judged based on their appearance or perceived financial situation. Our pets are family, and when we bring them in because something is wrong, we expect them to actually be examined and cared for. I'm very grateful that I found another veterinary office that showed genuine concern for both me and my dog. The difference was not about the cost--it was about the care. I really wish I would have cared enough to remember the two names of the vet and vet tech that cared more about my finances and what they assumed I could or could not afford, guess what ladies I managed to pay the vet bill just fine.
