I went for an oil change and to have my brakes looked at (they were squeaking) and rather than replacing them and charging me and arm and a leg, the mechanic was honest and said that although they're "noisy," they have over half of the pads left on them. Treated me ok for a while then totally screwed me. Asked for them to adjust one of the brakes. Rear left to be specific. They did something to the front brake and removed all my locking wheel lugs and replaced with regular ones. Totally unnecessary. Had to force out the locking nuts even tho the tool was in the car and had just been used. Charged me for everything. When I got the car it still had the same squirrelly brake as before I couldn't believe it. All that extra work for nothing. Should've been cheap and quick instead I had to bring it twice and pay 5x the cost. Also was not ready when I was told to pick it up real fun walking to the mechanic on foot and it's not ready and posting for bs. I say they knew what they were doing. I made an appointment for a 4-wheel alignment, rotation, and a diagnostic on my power steering system and engine, as I knew there were some potential issues. I dropped my car off an hour after they opened, expecting to pick it up sometime after noon. They didn't end up even starting my alignment until 4:30pm, an hour before they close. Fine, I get that a shop like this can be busy. When I came to pick up my car, the price of the alignment was $50 more than what was listed on the website. Also, they didn't rotate my tires or check my power steering or engine. Guy at the counter said "We were so busy today, you're lucky we even got to your car!" As if I hadn't made an appointment two days prior! Anyone with half a mechanical mind knows a tire rotation takes 5 minutes on a lift. These guys are at best overworked, and frankly dishonest and lazy at worst. Don't waste your time or money. How they have such good reviews is beyond me. read more

$60 for an oil change. This is pretty much the high extreme of what you can charge for the service, which gives me a pretty good sense that this mechanic is a rip off. There are many many places to get cheaper service than this. I'll probably only go there in the future if I have some kind of emergency in the neighborhood. This place is awesome and the customer service is fantastic! The mechanics here took great care of me. I found myself in quite the bind as I'm about to do a bunch of cross country driving, needed some repairs beforehand, and was under a crazy time crunch. Not to mention my old mechanic whom was very trustworthy left the shop I used to go to (i.e. Pleasant Car Care in Watertown - DO NOT GO THERE EVER!!!) and the other mechanics in his absence attempted to charge me parts and service fees three times or more the standard cost for what I needed done. The mechanic had even got defensive and mad at me when I called him out on the blatant ridiculousness of their overall estimate to repair my car. Fortunately, the guys at Brighton Auto Service were trustworthy and not only charged me reasonable (i.e. standard) fees, they fit me in during a morning where someone had called out and were super swamped and backed up. They really helped me out!!! I highly recommend Brighton Auto Service! Particularly for the female population as a lot of mechanics really try to screw you and overcharge unnecessarily, as was the case at Pleasant Car Care in Watertown. read more

I asked you to call me and give me a status update (which you/your shop said you would) as to how the repair was coming, to which you did not do, I had to chase you. I asked if this job could be done in 4 days before the Holidays because I needed to plan my holiday travels accordingly. You obviously could give a rat's a$$ about your customer's needs and it shows in your post here. It's funny, but you also make it sound like you never have had to tow a vehicle into one of your repair bays from your driveway? YOU OWN A REPAIR SHOP! OF COURSE YOU HAVE! CARS COME IN DOA ALL THE TIME. And your mentioning of a MAP sensor is false as well - nobody mentioned a MAP sensor when I called to pay for it, or to bring the truck back on the following Monday, so i don't know where you got that from. And I am happy to post photos of the lower dashboard assembly that was removed on the passenger side of the truck by your shop, they were sent to the BBB in my complaint. Seems like Becky L's review was spot on as well. You guys must make a living off naive college kids and their parents $$$, and with the turnover on that neighborhood i'm sure its a good racket.. Stop your complaining you got me for $180 bucks. Brought my truck there on a Friday morning @ 730AM to be looked at, was told they couldn't see it until Monday AM. OK. Monday AM, drop off the truck and await for the phone call for the estimate. No call Monday, no call Tuesday, I call Tues afternoon, they have not even looked at it yet. Wed comes, they don't know whats wrong but proceed to perform $180.00 worth of work without authorization. I tell them to stop i will pick up the truck. I need to pay by phone since they will be closed by the time i get out of work. The lock it up, but fail to reassemble the dash panel assemblies and lose all screws to re-assemble. Very unprofessional scam artists. WIll never recommend or return for business, and am seeking a refund for unauthorized work. read more

Called at noon for an update and was told "we haven't looked at it yet". When I asked if they would get to it later in the day I was told "not likely". Okay. Picked it up 10 hours after dropping it off. The $1,000 worth of needed work hadn't been done. It hadn't even been moved from where I parked it in the morning. When I started to walk over to talk with the guy about it he yelled over to me, "the keys are in it", and walked away. I am a pretty understanding person and it was obvious they were busy and backed up with work, which can't always be helped. However, appallingly rude and inconsiderate customer service is a choice that these guys make and it is something that really shouldn't be reward with your business. read more

If you think you paid too much, then you really don't know what kind of deal you got. My boyfriend's family has been going to them for years and I never feel stressed out when I drop off a car like I do at BMW. 3. They don't repair BMW. This is a good place to take any kind of car. The guys here are fast, efficient and honest. They'll take a look at your car, charge you the hour of labor, write you the parts and labor list and let you take care of it yourself. As someone who prefers to do their own work, I wanted a second opinion on a car that belongs to my boyfriend. I could tell looking at the serpentine belt that something was wrong, but I wanted to be sure there wasn't something else in need of replacing. Brighton Auto took a look at the car immediately and reaffirmed my suspicions - the tensioner and belt need to be replaced, along with the fan belt and the oil pan. These are all incredibly easy fixes and I'm well acquainted with how to do them myself, so I thanked them for the time and took the car home. They did an itemized list and recommended a couple of places to get parts on the cheap. The guys here are definitely worth the labor charge and get the job done fast. These guys are honest, easy to work with, the best. A few years back when I drove a lemon VW (all college aged girls have one, it seems) i got so frustrated with it, i told them to "keep it as long as they wanted, and work on it LAST". They obliged and kept it for a good month. Now that I am a working woman, and have a decent car, they service it quickly and for a fair price. I had a 60,000 maintenance check up and blew one of the brand new tires they gave me within a week. Here is my experience with them: - I dropped off my car for repairs necessary to pass inspection - QUOTED $600* and 3 days - After calling to check on the car after 4 days, I was told 8 days. I figured it seemed long, but I am understanding, and what am I going to say, really. - On the 10th day, my car was finally finished - $990 BILL!!! No call, no voicemail. I told the owner that this was ridiculous and that I am also in the service industry, and I would never do any work over the estimate without personally speaking with a client. This has been my shop since I moved to Boston 4 years ago. They are an auto shop, so maybe a little rough around the edges in the style of their customer service - but they are fantastic as far as fixing my car. They get it done in the amount of time they say it will take and they check with me before doing anything costly. I have also brought my car to them with it making noises, me being concerned about the brakes. They could easily have done lots of expensive work and charged me, but they were very honest and did the minor repair I needed instead. I go in for something they fix it and then I have to go back in a few weeks later and I would say I was just here for whatever and no one saw this and the technician would say well that's not you came in for. I think if you know something is wrong call a person up and say I noticed xyz and your going to need it fixed. I just had my car inspected why am I getting emergency messages. I went here because I had a rattling of my car. They said it was due to a shock absorber was blown and that it would cost $500 to replace but the other side needed to be replaced as well in order to balance the car so the cost was a total of $1000. Maybe that's true about the balancing part but I went to the Toyota dealership to get a second opinion and they said that nothing was wrong with the shock absorbers. They said there were some serious issues with the brakes and they fixed a couple issues with the brakes and charged $350. read more

I was very pleased with the honest, simple service I received here today. I brought my car in this morning before work as a family friend had warned me he thought my tires were wearing due to a misalignment. I asked the gentleman at the garage if he would take a look at the tire alignment and he took the time to explain to me what signs/symptoms I should be looking for in the car to see if there's an issue. We resolved that he would examine the car and take it for a ride to see if realignment was necessary. He called me a short time ago and said, after test-driving my car, that he recommended I do nothing on the car for now. This type of honesty in business is often lacking and I appreciate not paying for unnecessary repairs. I will be bringing my business here in the future. read more

We took our car here last Saturday for two reasons 1. We read good reviews here that said to ask for George 2. It's one of the few places open on a Saturday evening. When we got there we asked for George and everyone there was so nice. They immediately took a look at our car, diagnosed the problem, and gave us an estimate. They told us we could bring the car back whenever that week and it would only take a few hours and in the meantime George gave us a bottle of power steering fluid to get us through a longer trip we had that weekend without making us pay anything at this point. I thought this showed really good faith. When diagnosing the power steering issue he also said he to do some "artwork" to fix the issue and we really liked that comment, especially since my boyfriend works in the medical field and felt it was similar to surgery. We took the car back that Tuesday and George fixed the car really quickly and stayed later for us to get it after work. The price was almost exactly what he quoted plus tax so no surprises. With a nice handshake we were off. Well definetly come back for an oil change and if we need more work. It was a blessing in disguise that day that they were one of the few options because we found a great business. Thanks George and team! read more
