When my 102-year-old mother came to San Diego in December 2025 for her winter stay, we realized…read morethat she had declined significantly from the previous year. While still able to get around with her walker, she needed assistance for many of her daily functions. As we are both in our late 70's, we determined that some in-home weekly assistance would be needed. Relying on Yelp reviews we contacted San Diego Home Caregivers and met with the owner Sterling Miles. It was clear from the start that finding the right caregiver and meeting all of Mom's needs was his top priority. He even gave us information on other options in case his services might not meet our needs. He is genuine in his concern and commitment to providing top level care. We could not have been more impressed when we met Mom's new caregiver Jasmine. Her cheerful, warm personality was a perfect fit, and Mom was immediately comfortable with her. She went out of her way to not only care for Mom but to also help us in any way she could. Unfortunately, by the end of January Mom was at the end stage of her life. Because she was so comfortable with Jasmine, we had her continue to come even though Mom also had Hospice care by that time. As 20 family members came to say their goodbyes over the final two weeks, they were also very impressed with how caring Jasmine was and how much Mom appreciated having her there. We highly recommend Sterling and San Diego Home Caregivers.

I saw the great reviews for San Diego Home Caregivers and reached out to them. They set up a quick home evaluation and Sterling came out to the house. My mom told me that he was so kind, gentle, and full of compassion. He then called me to fill me in on a plan to get them help. Sterling went above and beyond to provide us help. It was clear to me that Sterling is in this business because he cares more about people than simply making a dollar. If you are looking for a company that cares about those you care about, I highly recommend San Diego Home Caregivers. You will be as thoroughly impressed as us when you meet Sterling at the free home evaluation. Hope this review is helpful to you in choosing the right caregiver company!

Avocado Creek is a board & care facility. Our uncle suddenly became very ill & couldn't live…read moreindependently. We placed him in this home also with hospice care. The owner, Maya, takes great pride in the facility & the care of the residents. The employees are very kind & take excellent care of the people in the facility. It is very clean & they keep the people in there bathed & well fed. We looked at other facilities & none of them were as clean. We bought special things that my uncle liked to eat & they made sure to serve him whatever we brought for him. They really care about people in the home & were a great comfort to me & my husband. I highly recommend this facility!

In July of 2021, my 94 year old mom fell and broke her hip. She recovered well from her surgery,…read morethen was transferred to a skilled nursing facility in Escondido. When skilled nursing was ready to release her, my sister and I knew she would not be able to return home immediately and would need more care until she got stronger and more self sufficient. The staff at the skilled nursing facility gave us 5 Board & Care facilities in Escondido for us to visit so she could have the additional care she needed as she recovered. We spent the next few days visiting each facility and interviewing the owners of each of the 5 businesses. Avocado Creek was our first stop. Maya, the owner, spent time with us and explained how Board & Care worked; she answered all of our questions, proudly showed us around, talked about the current availability, and the approximate costs. The house was clean and the residents we saw that day appeared well cared for. My sister and I were both immediately impressed with Maya. She made us very comfortable. She appeared to be very caring and was not only understanding of our mom's needs but ours as well. Throughout that week, we went to each of the other 4 places that were recommenced to us. Each of the facilities had its own characteristics and all seemed to be able to care for our mom. But no one sounded as caring as Maya. So, after a brief discussion between the two of us, we put our mom at Avocado Creek. It was the best decision we could have made. Our mom was there for the first month and did great. The care and attention she received was wonderful. She was getting stronger and was pretty much healed from her fall. But our mom started to fail mentally. Maya and the staff were very attentive to all her needs as she became more and more confused and simple daily living tasks became harder for her. In early December she was diagnosed with Alzheimers. Maya, Marisa, Dana and Brenda cared for her like mom was part of their own family. My sister and I visited multiple times a week and could tell that our mom was being well cared for in every manner. We were so pleased that we chose Avocado Creek to care for her. Unfortunately, what we thought was going to be a one or two month recovery turned into the place our mom lived until the end of her life. My sister and I NEVER worried that she wasn't getting the attention she needed. As our mom got worse, Maya and her staff did everything imaginable to make her life as good as possible. There is nothing I can say to express our gratitude for all that Maya, Marisa, Dana and Brenda did for our mom right to the end. My sister and I were there on the afternoon in September that our mom passed away. That night was hard for us. Maya, Marisa and Dana, being such caring people, even gave us the emotional support we needed on that last night. I still stay in touch with Maya. I will occasionally stop by Avocado Creek just to say "Hi". There are always hugs and lots of catching up on current events in our lives. Losing my mom was one of the saddest days in my life. Having Maya and her staff care for her was one of the best decisions my sister and I ever made.
