Maria put together a party for my mom which I will never forget. If you are looking for a truly superior environment for your loved one to spend their remaining years, this is as good as it gets.

The amazing views, even from her small, but very comfortable private room, were spectacular, and with gracious covered patios on three sides of the home, she spent a great deal of time out in the fresh air, watching all the birds that flocked to the many bird feeders, enjoying the vast vistas (you can see for 20 miles in every direction), and doing activities on the large outdoor table. Maria and her staff always celebrated birthdays and holidays with lots of fanfare, and my mom received personal attention, like getting her nails painted or makeup done. Visiting her there was always comfortable and inviting. We were very lucky to find such a loving and beautiful place for my mother, once we could no longer care for her ourselves.

This place is truly awful. My mom has been here quite…read moresometime. I am being told by caregivers that she we should remove her immediately. That she doesn't receive adequate care here. That they are extremely understaffed. That there has even come a time when 1 caregiver had to work a whole floor themselves during the morning and evening shift. So therefore how is one person giving showers, feeding them , changing them and caring for them. I am being told my mom is sometimes not fed because they forget to feed her. They use the supplies that I buy for her like combs, socks and shirts and use them for other residents. They use my mom's wipes and briefs for other residents. That the staff does not use hoyer as they should be and sometimes one caregiver is transferring my mom who is not that skinny or lightweight onto the wheel chair and back for meals. I didn't think much because I barely am able to visit with my work schedule and so a I was told this by caregivers Mike the director is apparently cheap and does not provide enough supplies that even caregivers have to go without wipes or gloves. I will be calling the state licensing and have them come in the specific days and times the caregivers have explained to me so that they could see what's really going on.

Marie, Rosa, Loucinda, Jennifer, Amanda, Summer, Erick, William, Raven, Antonio, and so many others (I'm sorry to not remember everyone's names right now... and yes I mean you), I am truly grateful for how well you care for my aunts, Irene and Karol, as part of your family too. Beyond that, the large outdoor patio space is park-like toward the back, and perfect for our weekly get-togethers, EVERY time we are there, more than one of the staff will help us, or stop by to say hello. Since Loucinda has been MCD the building has improved tremendously. My experience at Vista del Lago has truly been beautiful and inspiring. I first started off as a caregiver but almost immediately was promoted to Med-tech. Being med tech and lead has made me realize my dream is to become a nurse because I love helping others. I applaud Loucinda and Marie because I know that being on the floor is already so difficulty and I can only imagine what goes on behind the scenes. Not only do they both work hard to ensure staff and residents are taken care of but they continually help on the floor when needed. I appreciate Loucinda for allowing me to grow as much as I have and continue to do so. I have learned so many lessons and skills I will carry for years to come in next opportunities. Although some days are very difficult, most days are very rewarding. Working in a setting like this it's almost as if you have 50 grandmas and 50 grandpas and that is truly incredible but challenging at the same time. You can tell all staff in the building truly care for the residents with there whole heart. Working with dementia definitely comes with its difficulties mentally and physically but our directors ensure staff are always cared for. Whether that's leaving their offices open with open ears and arms or buying staff coffee, boba or meals.

Needless to say, she did not really want to move from her home that she's been in for a very long time. I've contacted and visited 6 places and Atria meets all of her needs. Her memory is not as good as it used to be and she needs extra help. This location has services that allow her to remain if her memory continues to diminish. Atria's staff has been wonderful, patient and caring. I've been trying to convince my mom to move for the past 4 years and she literally told me today that she is so happy she made the move. These are words that I thought I'd never hear from her. Thank you to everyone at Atria for making my mom feel at home and removing all her anxiety over making the move.

And then moving your loved one, in our case, our Mom did not want to go and was very difficult. However, Atria could not have been more helpful. The entire staff aided in the transition, Glen, Darla, Sophia and Kimi. And now, Mom is happy and we feel comforted knowing she has care 24/7 if needed. I recently spent 3 days at Atria sitting with my Mom for 4-5 hours each day and was able to see how the staff interacts with all residents. They have so much patience and always a kind word but also are obviously well schooled in the services they provided. If Atria has availability, I'd recommend not looking anywhere else to place a member of your family.

I really didn't want to write this review, but I don't want others to experience what we did…read more Shores was recommended by the facility where my parents live, and when my dad was ready to begin hospice Shores responded quickly and kindly. One of the most appealing reasons we went with Shores is that they offer 7-day a week caregiver visits. We agreed to start at 5 days a week, and I was told I could always move to 7 days when ready. They assigned a fabulous caregiver who came Monday thru Friday. She communicated well, sent photos of my father and explained what she did on the visit (showers, bed changes, nail care, room organizing, etc). On many occasions I walked in to find her simply sitting with dad, holding his hand and talking to him. She dealt with his dementia and lack of energy with kindness and dignity. However, when she had to take a day off there was no one to fill in for her. The nurse was communicative and explained medication changes, Dad's condition changes, etc. This was the hospice we dreamed of and I felt so supported. So much so that I recommended them to a friend who used them as well. Unfortunately that caregiver left the company, our nurse was assigned to another area, and the service went down hill from there. As dad declined we requested the offered 7 days per week of caregiving. After 6 weeks and several requests we were still at a scheduled 5 days per week, but ended up with weeks where visits were as little as 2 times a week. I went out of town for three weeks only to return to find dad had not had a shower in 9 days. Communication with his facility was low, and communication with me was even less. We had caregivers who told me they rushed dad when changing him by telling him (lying) that I was coming for a doctor's appointment and he needed to go quick quick! I had a caregiver call and tell me that my dad had thrown her phone as she was "showering him" and that the facility staff had told her to charge me for it - her story changed a few times in the ensuing days. I had caregivers tell me they couldn't work with dad because he refused to shower or change his clothes. While I'm guessing dad did refuse, I would hope that a hospice who agrees to work with dying dementia patients would have caregivers who were indeed experienced with dementia (the staff at his facility did not had trouble showering him or changing him). On one of the last visits I witnessed a caregiver arrive and leave within 6 minutes - I changed the bed. I had a nurse make medication changes, that I agreed to, but didn't fully understand. That's on me for not asking enough questions. However, I would have hoped that an experienced hospice nurse would have understood I did not actually understand the ramifications, and would have made certain the family fully understood the changes before making them. We had mistakes in medication orders to the facility that weren't discovered until my dad suffered the symptoms of the medication error. That said, as dad's days neared the end, we got the original nurse back and she made frequent visits to see dad. She helped me even on her days off, and she called after each visit. She made an extra effort to ease dad's discomfort, and I'm certain his last two weeks were made easier because of her. She is indeed a hospice angel. Dad died last Tuesday, today is Sunday and the medical equipment is still sitting in his room - even after multiple request to pick it up. While we did have some good experiences and met some very lovely people through the care of my dad with Shores, my overall experience leaves me wondering if I could have made my dad's last six months easier and more comfortable if I had gone with another company. I many times found myself apologizing for bothering them when we had requests for communication. Shores seems to be under staffed and staffed with some personnel who don't seem to have the patience to deal with dementia patients.

I cannot give enough praise to the outstanding service we were provided by Shores.
