After all of the great reviews, I finally decided to try brightwok kitchen. This is a chipotle type of restaurant where the fresh ingredients are chosen, and then made to order on the grill top. I ordered the earth, curry and fire and added chicken. I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately it wasn't my cup of tea. My dish had a bit too many carrots and not enough chicken or tofu.

The earth, curry, and fire with steak came out great. It was delicious and I got 2 sweet potato fritters with it. The flavors worked really well together. I could probably eat 20 sweet potato fritters. The girl working today was very helpful with my buddies getting them samples of the different sauces to try. Everyone enjoyed our food. It was a bit cold and we had the dining area to ourselves. It was clean and neat. The kitchen area is kept very clean as well! She had the stove pulled out and I took a picture. That's always a good feeling when you see the restaurant doesn't neglect cleaning.

I love places that are "make your own" like this concept but I didn't really enjoy Brightwork. The food took awhile and once it came out it all kind of tasted the same.

Amazing! I was blown away by the umami mushroom bowl with steak. Full of flavor and the steak was so tender, it pairs with the umami flavor nicely. Love that this places emphasizes healthy alternatives.

Brightwok kitchen is easily one of my favorite places to grab lunch in the city! I've tried multiple sauces over the past few visits and everything has been so tasty and fast:) my favorite one is probably the Thai basil but tbh you can't go wrong with any of them! The staff are all very kind and knowledgeable and the restaurant is very well maintained! I can't wait to come again soon

My go-to takeout is Earth, Curry & Fire w/ Tofu. It has the right balance of spiciness and good protein-veggie-rice ratio. You can customize it (e.g. as-is or steamed with less sauce). The staff is always welcoming and the place is cute! I have never eaten it but groups frequent this place. Many large tables for work lunch groups!

Love their panang; and the ingredients are very fresh. I'll definitely come back on my next Chicago visit!

Everything was very well seasoned and the flavors really popped out of each dish! The spicy sausage was very similar to other Chinese sausages but less sweet and added a serious heat. It was a great way to start the meal. The scallion pancakes were flakey and crispy and seemed to be homemade. The soup dumplings had an incredible amount of soup inside and the flavors were better than even Din Tai Fong! The skins were just thick enough to hold the soup in but thin enough to be enjoyable and not overwhelm the meat and soup inside. The dry chili chicken was amazingly spicy and flavorful! Be aware that if you have difficulty with spice that you might want to order a lower level of heat! it was too spicy for a couple of us! The Dan-Dan noodles were everybody's favorites, flavorful, with a little bit of earth and a decent amount of heat. The restaurant was cute and clean, very well lit as well. The service was quick and while not overly chatty, was efficient and friendly. We'll be back!

Disclaimer, I'm an East Asian and I didn't grow up eating Indian or Nepali food so take my comments with a grain of salt. Lamb curry My friend and I enjoyed it. I bit into some star anise in the dish, and I wished they gave the star anise more time to incorporate into the curry (sauteing longer and toasting it before), as the star anise flavor wasn't really there. I had to bite into the star anise with the sauce to learn about the flavor profile. Eggplant curry I wasn't a big fan of the dish, as it felt a little astringent and bitter at times. I wasn't sure what it was going for, and I wished it utilized more of that umami flavor from the eggplant to elevate the curry. The curry felt a little overpowering. Fish curry As a seafood lover, this was one of the most special curries I have had. The fish was delicate and soft, which was paired well with the sauce. I would get this again. Chicken Biryani We increased the spice for this dish. The portions were huge and we liked it as a base to the other curries and something to eat with the naan. It was not bad. Mutton Momo (Soup) As a mutton/lamb lover, the momos were flavorful and hearty. They were paired with a spicy tomato soup, which felt different but familiar. We loved it. Mutton Momo (Chillied) The momo was sauted and fried at the bottom. It was paired with some bell peppers. This is the kind of dish where you wouldn't be able to stop eating. Loved it. Garlic Naan Hot, thin, crispy. Even though we wished the garlic was more pungent, the texture was great. Gulab Jamun (Fried Ball Dessert) It was our favorite. The syrup was gingery and had a subtle hint of saffron, and it blended well with the fried balls. This hit home. Overall, the food was decent. We will definitely be back for the momo and to try the different curries and biryani.

We kept it simple with water for drinks and ordered the chili chicken as an appetizer. It leaned more tomatoey than spicy, with a mild heat level, but still really tasty. For mains, we got the Chicken Madras and Khasi ko maasu (Nepali goat curry), both served with white basmati rice. We also ordered the bread basket, which came with naan, garlic naan, and onion naan. Everything paired really well together, super satisfying with both the rice and naan. The server asked about our preferred spice level for the goat curry, and we chose regular. It actually wasn't spicy at all, which worked perfectly for us. Our total came out to around $80, which felt like a great deal considering how much food we had left over, we packed everything up and basically got dinner out of it too. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for something flavorful but still relaxed. Would definitely come back!
