I just got back from lunch at Brimont and really enjoyed it. I'd love to give this 4.5 stars because it is quite great. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the food is is spot on. I ordered the Northport Delight (honey maple turkey, swiss cheese, bacon, tomato, and homemade coleslaw on a hard roll) which was delicious and filling. The only reason why I wouldn't offer 5 stars was that the food took a while to come out. I'd still highly recommend checking it out, either for a longer lunch or I'm certain dinner would be just as exceptional. read more

Have lived in Webster for 3 years and never heard of Brimont Bistro. My boyfriend and I wanted to do a "date night" during this pandemic. We asked for suggestions from family and friends on FB for different local takeout places and we had a couple of different people recommend them. I am SOOOO happy they did. Everything was delicious. We wanted to try a little bit of everything-got 3 entrees, 2 desserts, and the sangria. We are soooooo excited we tried this hidden gem. We really enjoyed everything about this place. I would suggest to make reservation before you come. We, however, came here without making reservation so had to wait for 20 min. One of Rochester's best kept secrets. Greg is a master chef and this is a dining experience. In addition to outstanding culinary the Bistro leverages its relationships to bring some unique and fine wines and beers from Long Island New York. You must try them. The menu items are Wonderful from vodka sauce, steaks and seafoods to ironically their selection of gourmet burgers. My wife and I shared tonight's butternut squash soup special which was amazing. She had the pan seared scallops with risotto which was cooked to perfection. I ordered the special which was cod fish with a vegetable cream sauce that included avocado over potatoes. It actually tasted like lobster. I have never had anything like it. Truly amazing. This is the perfect place to go with friends or take a date if your tired of the same old thing and want a great dining experience at a fair price. Cute place. Came for lunch today. Food was pretty decent and I really enjoyed the outdoor patio. I arrived early in the lunch hour and it started picking up quickly. The only negative was that due to having only 1 server on, she had to take on all patrons which appeared to slow down service a touch. A gem where you least expect it. All the food is fresh and freshly prepared. French style cooking done as well as anything in Paris. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had. Caesar salad, soup du jour (chicken corn chowder seasoned just right), Chicken French (a Rochester specialty) with penne and creme brûlée. Patio dining on a nice day adds to the ambiance. I have tried to like this place, because Webster is SERIOUSLY lacking good restaurants, but it just isn't happening for me. I know this guy is a great cook, but somehow it just doesn't translate to this restaurant. The atmosphere is nonexistent really. Upstairs it is too bright and there's nothing to look at. Downstairs needs tablecloths or something, and the bar is uninteresting. I've eaten dinner there three times (and a couple of lunches) but the service has always been lacking. This most recent time things were going okay until it came time to get the check - honestly, I thought we were going to have to sleep over. The food is often a problem. One of the gouda salads I ordered had no gouda - apparently it was forgotten. My partner's steak was overcooked, my penne vodka lacked flavor. We ordered dessert and it was never delivered. The cocktail I ordered was skimpy and not cold. See what I mean? read more

Wow, how quickly a good place can lose it's luster. The first time we went to Brimont it was a wonderful experience. We were there on a weeknight, we were the only ones in the place, and the food and service were excellent. We went this past Saturday evening with friends, at my suggestion and I bristle now that I suggested that, for a very mediocre, even poor food experience (service was still excellent, thank you Mary). One of my tablemates and I ordered the soup. Last evening it was a rich pork broth with large chunks of pork and fresh vegetables. Very good, but nowhere near approaching the wonderfully thick and tasty mushroom soup I had before. Nonetheless, a nice start for a cool fall evening. No comments from my tablemate who also had the soup. He's vocal when he likes something, so this was clearly not a home run in his book either. For appetizers, one of my other tablemates had the gouda cheese and apple salad, my wife once again had the goat cheese Napoleon and I tried the duck confit. Stick with the goat cheese Napoleon. It's sweet, almost like dessert, and oh so wonderful. The duck confit was, in my opinion, a mess. The taste was strong of duck but nothing else. The small pastry and crème that it was served within added nothing. My advice on this dish. Just throw it out and start over. I don't think it will ever be improved by tinkering with it. Oh, I so debated on having the beef bourguinon again. I thought it would be best to try something new rather than play it safe. Big mistake. Big mistake. I tried the seared duck breast., Frankly, if I had not been out with others, I would have sent it back the minute it hit the table. It was significantly overcooked. Grey with barely a touch of pink. I should have known when I was told that they prepare it medium rare by the waitress. A kitchen should not tell me how my duck is to be prepared. If I want it bloody rare as it should be served, then that's the way it should come. Not grey, weathery, leathery, and without any taste whatsoever. The brown sauce it came in added nothing to the dish. A complete and utter disaster in my opinion. One of our dining partners had the chicken Statler breast. She didn't comment on it, but the chicken, just like my duck, looked dry. She didn't finish. My wife and our other tablemate had the portabella mushroom crusted salmon. It looked so good on the plate of two ladies dining next to us. I should have noted that they left a good portion each of their salmon on the plate. I thought they were being dainty. Perhaps like ours it was barely lukewarm and without flavor. What in the heck happened to the kitchen here!! The peanut butter cheesecake for dessert was very light and very good, even for someone such as myself who although I like peanut butter, don't care to see it employed in a food mix. I would recommend it. But overall, a most disappointing experience. Our friends are foodies and when the food is good, they talk about it and comment about it. There was not a word said last evening. We might as well have been at Applebee's. And my gosh Greg, turn the lights down. It's dinner, it's not midday sun. The restaurant needs some atmosphere, not the ambience of a tanning salon. For apparently paying attention to details such as this, Greg hasn't hit it on the wine selection. I sampled both chardonnays by the glass and a cabernet by the Glass and found them to be lacking. They aren't priced expensively, but they can do better. Overall, I would give the place a rating of 2 stars if I hadn't had such a good experience before and truly wanted them to succeed like other reviewers. Several times in writing this review I changed my rating back and forth from 2 stars to 3 and back to 2 and then to 3. My wife wants me to be kind. She suggested I not even write a review but how is a restaurant to get better if they don't know how poorly they are doing. Webster needs a restaurant like this but they really need to step up their game for the kitchen failed miserably last evening. It was so nice to see the place relatively busy and I do hope they succeed but if other diners had the same experience we did, then they just shot a very big hole in their foot. We'll be back, but not as quickly as we might have before and perhaps a bit grudgingly. Brimont has one more chance to redeem itself in my eyes. I hope it does. read more

Went to the Brimont Bistro on their opening day for lunch, and it was amazing. All the ingredients were fresh, and so was the homemade peanut butter cheesecake. Prices are very reasonable and the portions are excellent. The service was great and so is the atmosphere, making you feel right at home. I'm excited to go back for one of their dinner services. I'm a little surprised this place has such high reviews. I've been here for lunch at least three times now and each time, no one greets you at the door. Today, we walked into an empty room, sat ourselves. Somehow, there was just one poor guy waiting for the entire inside/outside. Took a long time to get drinks, asked for refills again BEFORE the meal came, but finished our meals and had to remind again that we needed refills. Food is okay. They serve sandwiches, but somehow do not serve chips or fries. Definitely nothing special. Took a very long time to get the check. I don't think I'll give it a fourth try. read more

We had enjoyed the catering from Brimont's chef at a prior event, and were very much looking forward to a visit to the Bistro. We reserved a table for five and were seated promptly by the friendly staff. Right away I knew we were in good hands, as one of the draft beer selections that evening was Burning River Pale Ale from the Great Lakes Brewery. Sure, its just beer, but it is one of my personal all-time favorites, and here it was on draft in Webster, NY. We ordered two appetizers and a salad to begin, and shared around the table. The duck confit was simply delicious, and the goat cheese napolean was deemed "almost too pretty to eat," though it also quickly fell to the forks. The gouda cheese and apple salad was just the right mix of greens, apple and cheese, and there was some surreptitious dipping into the dressing as it was ordered on the side. Entrees ran the spectrum, as we ordered the penne vodka with chicken, chicken statler breast, coq au vin, beef bourguignon, and sea scallops. It's easy to confirm acceptance by the silence that descends when the food arrives, and then the frenzy of sharing ( "you HAVE to try this!" ). The portions were well-suited to our appetites, and the only leftover was from the ample serving of coq au vin. All other plates went empty back to the kitchen. The chef has struck the right balance between sauces, meats and grains, particularly with the scallops; there's not too much of anything, and plenty of everything. At other establishments we've occasionally encountered huge portions that overwhelm, or had to hunt for the proteins among piles of pasta - that is certainly not the case here, as the presentation and balance appeal to both the eye and the palate. Dessert was difficult decision, as there was much discussion amongst the options. We settled on a creme brulee and the flourless chocolate cake, again passing the plates around the table, much to the delight of all. Again, well-balanced portions, the cake was a small work of art, almost too pretty to eat. Chef Greg came out to speak with us briefly just as we were finishing dessert, and we had a short conversation about the history of the bistro (opened in Feb this year) and the work done to prepare the patio (it was just a bit cool this evening, though on warmer nights it would be welcome to be outside). It is good to see a real dining experience is finally available in Webster, and I look forward to returning to Brimont Bistro again. read more

Went here for lunch with two coworkers, I got the Greek Salad, another got the Swiss Burger , and the third got the Sante Fe wrap. My salad was great and it's always nice to see a place make their own dressings. My coworker with his burger liked his but one one with the sante fe wrap said he wasn't impressed especially considering and overly positive review somebody else wrote. I would absolutely come here again, definitely a gem of the Webster area. The prices for lunch are good considering the quality of the food, which is better than many places. I would like to try their dinner, which is a completely different menu, where as most places merely add dishes and take the lunch dishes and charge more for them. read more

We stopped at Brimont Bistro to get lunch on Saturday, considering that it was almost 3pm there were very few customers. Our order arrived quickly and was well prepared. I had Chicken BLT and my husband had Northport Delight sandwich. Both items tasted really good, also we selected coleslaw as additional side item and that was delicious too. We will be returning from time to time for lunch and dinner options. Always support local businesses! The owner was really helpful and friendly. The food and presentation are excellent. There is a lovely patio in the back to have lunch and dinner in the nicer weather. Great catering. I successfully has dinner for 30 at my home and the food was outstanding! The guests included many Italian people used to eating home made Italian food, and they were absolutely impressed with the Sherry Chicken (like chicken French with mushrooms and wine sauce) and the Pork Tenderloin, Vodka sauce and the Grilled Vegetable platter. After the second time coming to this establishment, I felt it necessary to give this place a mediocre 2 star review. Both times I've gone it was lunch time and no one was in there when I arrived. The one and only waitress seemed overwhelmed with a drink order and took an oddly long time to just get a couple iced teas. The food is not terrible, but not amazing either. The weirdest thing is that they don't have a fryer, so no fries are possible to have with your burger or hot sandwich. You can still make baked fries or offer some other hot side besides being killed with mayo with the potato salad, mac salad or coleslaw options. I felt as though I was inconveniencing this small town eatery with my presence. After receiving our meal, the waitress never came back to see if everything tasted as we expected or to see if we needed anything else (refills, more napkins, etc.). It took way too long to get the check meanwhile there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant by the time I was looking to pay. No goodbye or "have a nice day" from anyone upon leaving. I will not be back to waste any more money here. read more

My husband and I just returned from living in NYC for the past 4 1/2 years and were blown away by a new restaurant in Webster. We have been 3 times for lunch and tonight went for dinner for the first time. EXCEPTIONAL! AND they just got word that their liquor license is ready for pick up (Greg is going tomorrow to get it). The sous chef, waiter and owner do whatever they can to make you feel comfortable. The restaurant is clean and decorated nicely with art,soft lighting and music. We began the meal with Caesar salad with homemade dressing, wonderful balance. I had the dry Sea Scallops over risotto and a lemony sauce on the bottom of the plate, I didn't read the entire description, sadly, but it tasted as if there was grated lemon rind with something elsein it that was delicious. My husband had the best beef bourguignone he has ever tasted (I agree) with root vegetables. The flavors in each entree were just right, melt in your mouth right! Wonderful presentation, too. We split a perfect dessert; homemade Vanilla (yes, as in vanilla bean) Creme Brulee, an ideal way to end this wonderful meal! This restaurant is as good if not better than most of the high end restaurantswe dined at in NYC. I also love the fact that the menu is not huge, but something for everyone and thus everything is done well. read more

I have posted this review on several other web pages as I want to spread the word for this very special place. Dinner was incredible. Four people in our dinner party. We wanted to try everything. The Shrimp and Crab Cake appetizers were wonderful. The dinner salads were ample, fresh and flavorful with dressings that were just right. The Chilean Pinot Noir was perfect. We had a dinner guest who is Vegetarian and she was very pleased with the Vegetable Penne Pasta. I had the Portabello Mushroom encrusted Salmon on an Arugula/Artichoke Risotto Cake. Pork Tenderloin dinners rounded out the meal for the remaining two guests. And wait we could not resist trying dessert. The Crème Brulee and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake both provided a great ending. We never order dessert. So glad we did. High quality food, prepared with care and served perfectly.Service is impeccable. We have visited several times for lunch since Brimont opened and happy we finally made it for dinner. We will be back again soon. As an aside, I tend to order the same thing at a favorite restaurant. What is so fun for me is that I can't wait to try everything this most excellent restaurant has to offer. Thank you for a wonderful meal and great experience. My husband and I were looking for a non chain restaurant. It is a small place with the bar and some tables downstairs and more tables upstairs. The waiter was attentive. Spoke to the chef about some dietary concerns and he seemed great. Gave us suggestions on the wine which we really enjoyed with r meal. We started the meal with garden salads ....fresh and good. I had the salmon which melted in my mouth.....it was delicious .....some grilled veggies (per my request) dh had the chicken french special which I tasted and it was juicy lemony and also very delish......he had risotto with his dinner which he enjoyed. All in all I would recommend this place. Too bad we r just visiting from out of town as it would become a regular place for us! read more

I really wanted to like this restaurant. Webster needs more fine dining establishments. Unfortunately this isn't it. I ordered the strip steak with demi glace. And the ceasar salad. The ceasar salad was weak at best. Not a lot of flavor. I ordered the steak medium, but was delivered something just short of shoe leather. It was well done. I should have returned it but being the nice guy I decided to eat it as is. Thankfully the overpowering demi-glace covered up most of the steak flavor. I wasn't expecting fillet from a strip steak but the meat was overly tough and full of gristle. We left feeling bad that we had paid so much for such low quality. I've had better food at family diners. The only redeeming quality was the service. Everyone was very nice. Maybe Brimont Bistro was just having a bad day. Unfortunately we'll never know as we won't be going back. Save your money for a high class restaurant like Remington's. Same price, high quality. read more

Last week, my husband and I visited Brimont Bistro for a special night out. We wanted an excellent meal in a casually elegant setting and Brimont fit the bill perfectly. The mellow background music offered a relaxing atmosphere. The wine list features many Long Island wines including one of my favorites raely seen in this area, Sherwood House White Merlot. For starters, I chose the Duck Confit on the appetizer menu - truly wonderful. My husband chose the homemade vegetable soup which featured loads of fresh vegetables in a delicate flavorful broth - no over-salty canned soup base here! Even the seasonal greens salad, which we shared, was special - fresh, crisp and perfectly dressed with homemade roasted onion balsamic vinaigrette. For dinner, I rarely order a chicken dish but I just had to try the Coq au Vin and I am so happy I did. With moist tender chicken, enhanced by mushrooms, pearl onions and bacon and in rich espanole sauce, it's the best I've ever tasted. My husband had the roasted vegetable pasta with chicken, another super flavorful hit. With ample portions, we enjoyed our leftovers for lunch the next day. We will be back - with friends. read more
