I am not usually a steak person. Usually, I get the salmon or a chicken dish. This time I decided to try their T-bone. Oh. My. Goodness. I was in love. Great flavor. Cooked medium well upon request. Tender. It is 16 oz., so its a good portion. I ended up taking some home. Win! I will definitely be ordering another or perhaps I will try the Porterhouse next. Every single item was filled with flavor and the presentation was gorgeous! I certainly wish they had one in Memphis ... but then I'd be as big as a house lol. I had the worst service ever Briquettes Montlimar Dr. I place a called in order got to the restaurant waited behind this lady with a huge order never once was I acknowledge or even given a second thought. Then this lady walks up to the bar and all of the sudden receive service when it is clearly a sign that says pick up orders are pick up here where I was standing. I said excuse me and told them I have been waiting and was here before her the manger Chad told me its a lot of pick up orders and to hold on someone will be there shortly and the waitress proceeded to take her card and run it. Of course they start you off with cheddar and garlic biscuits that melt in your mouth. The steak was cooked perfectly to what I ordered and the sides where delicious. On my last night of vacation, I wanted to make sure I went out with a bang and what a bang it was. This place appeared to be your typical steakhouse but it far exceeded my expectations. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. A guest in my party was not satisfied with their pasta and the waiter took it back and replaced it with no problem. I had the Portabella mushroom chicken. It included 3 grilled chicken breasts smothered with mushrooms, asparagus and provolone cheese. For my 2 sides, I got loaded garlic mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese casserole. Let me tell ya, it was DELICIOUS! They also started you off with complimentary cheddar biscuits. The biscuits were a tad on the dry side but that certainly didn't take away from my experience. I even had to get a carry out because I couldn't finish it all. Give them a try! read more

Ate here today with a group of nine people. The guest of honor had been told by some former co-workers that this is a great place. There was a Christmas Party going on in the party room when we arrived and at least two other large groups (all on a Sat night). The place was packed most of the time we were there. I arrived at about 5pm. We had a minor problem with some of our group being late and they wouldn't seat us until at least half of our expected party had arrived. Guess that's understandable. The place is dimly lit so your warned if your peepers don't work all that well or if you wear glasses like I do. The place is casual so you could bring the family or, with the dimly lit ambience, a date. Some in our party did not eat but had appetizers that we all shared. I tried the Spinach Artichoke Dip, Chicken Nachos and Onion Rings. The Onion Rings were the best I've ever tasted, they weren't greasy and the breading wasn't heavy. The plate of nachos was huge and could almost be a meal if you added a side salad. I thought the Spinach Artichoke Dip was just ok but I heard someone else in our party say it was nice and cheesy. It seemed a bit 'loose' to me and could have been thicker. Maybe, I'm just too dang picky. I'm not a fan of the types of plates they use to serve the food because with our party and the size of the table things seemed to be quite crowded. The plates are pretty and do look classy but the rim around them (they look like white picture frames) is a bit annoying if you have a lot to them on the table. My zuccini was served on it's one smaller plate and with everything else on the table it was a tad annoying. This would be a good point to mention that they bring out a basket of biscuits to the table (we got two) which were ok but nothing special, ours were a bit dry so they might have inadvertantly left them in the oven too long. I had the Top Sirloin, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Zucchini. My food was good but my steak was just a little bit too salty. I wasn't a fan of the dab of butter they put on the mashed potatoes because they didn't really need them. The potatoes had absolutely NO lumps in them and could have used a lot more garlic. They were good and while the texture made me think they might be instant they did NOT taste like they were. The Grilled Zuccinini were good but had a bit too much butter/oil. Everyone else did seem to be happy with their food. We brought our own dessert which they held in the kitchen until we were ready and they brought it out which a bunch of restaurant plates and silverware. We were preparred with our own but they were great to provide it. Some in our party ordered drinks and if I hadn't been driving alone I would have had a few too. They had a few daquiris (at least one was a virgin one), watermelon margarita and moscato wine. I heard someone say the moscato was very good. The drinks seemed to go down quite smoothly and I heard no complaints. The servers were attentive. I think one of our servers was a bit new since things got a bit confused when they took drink orders and again when checks were divyed up. Still they were great with our party even though not everyone ordered an entree. The place seemed loud but given the number of people in the place at the fact they they had at least four groups it would explain it. Parking appeared adequate especially since they place seemed packed from the time we got there until we left. read more

My absolute favorite restaurant in Mobile. We eat here at least once a week and we are never disappointed. The food is perfectly prepared, the service is quick and friendly, and the prices are very affordable. Our favorite server at lunch is Chris... she always greets us with a smile and takes excellent care of us. I recommend the steak and pork quesadilla as an appetizer, rotisserie chicken for your entree (with grilled zucchini and sweet potato casserole as sides), and the Apple Brown Betty for dessert. Also the Briquettes pasta, Parmesan chicken, steaks, and prime rib are all wonderful. I can honestly say that there's nothing I've tried here that didn't meet or exceed my expectations. My husband and I went to Briquettes to celebrate his birthday on a Saturday night. The service was fantastic, and everyone looked like they were very attentive. Every server I saw had a big smile on their face the whole time - its evident that they love their job. We ordered two appetizers, the crab cakes and the Asian shrimp, and split a porterhouse entree. The crab cakes were the BEST I've ever had in my life, period. Tons of crab, NO breading, a light sauce and just enough tomatoes to compliment not overpower... And FLAME GRILLED. it really took it to an entirely new level above what I've had before: fried, pan fried, or baked. The flame grill adds an incredible, warm heartiness that you need to taste to believe. The shrimp was also very good, it was a sweet and spicy Thai sauce, but wasn't too sweet. I hate the stuff that tastes just like sweet and sour sauce. The porterhouse was an epic meal in itself.... It's a good thing we split it! It was seasoned perfectly and cooked perfectly. The filet was particularly nice and tender. The sides we ordered, broccoli and onion rings, were kind of standard. They give you 4 onion rings for the side. Service was slow, bread was cold and slow to arrive, and not only was my steak mis-cooked, it was even the wrong cut! Steaks are not consistent, a few weeks ago they were the best and tonight I had the same, a bone in rib eye. It was gristly and fatty all the way down the bone. Could not cut it off or eat it. Meat 1 inch out from the bone was raw instead of medium. Side salad and baked potato was good. Onion rings were very good. Crab cake appetizer was very good. Server Chris was very good. Hands down the best steakhouse in town. Good environment for date night. The ribeye is about the best I've ever had, pair that with grilled vegetables and you have my favorite steak meal in town. We had a party of 10 for a Friday night, so we used Briquettes' "call ahead seating." Called the day before and wasn't told there'd be any major problem, but when we showed up at our scheduled time at 6:30 p.m., we were told it'd still be 45-50 minutes. This wasn't going to work since we had a few young children in for a family reunion of sorts. But try finding a place in Mobile that can seat 10 on a Friday night without any notice. I eventually emailed Briquettes about the problem, but heard nothing back. So now we're to Yelp. My biggest issue is lack of communication. If we were told the day before when we called that it might be difficult seating 10 during a prime time, I would've understood and gone to Plan B. Instead, we were in a mess on a Friday night. Note: I had been to Briquettes before and loved their food - hence why I wanted to take a party of 10 there. I think the food is terrific at reasonable prices. But this experience really soured me on the place and I'll go elsewhere for steak. read more

How can I say this.....ummmmm better than any other steakhouse I've been to. Better than Mortons better than any other steakhouse I've eaten at period. My go to steakhouse. Bread is warm, beer is cold, steak is always cooked perfectly, philly eggrolls are on point, atmosphere is great. I may prefer the Montlimar Dr location to the Schillinger Rd one. I love they opened on Sunday for Mothers day and Fathers day.....but what about all the other awesome eat out Sundays.....like NFL Sundays, and First Day of the Week Holidays.....that's reason to open every Sunday. read more
