However, after eating at Mandina's in Spanish Fort, I can honestly say their ribeye is the best I've ever eaten, nudging out my long time favorite Brennan's in the French Quarter which was my home for years. Mandina's is a restaurant from New Orleans where they have been in business there for 79 years. I'm old now so I can't drive to Mandina's in NOL anymore. However, my dear friends took me to Mandina's in Spanish Fort as a surprise for me for Christmas. It's even more wonderful than I remembered. I can honestly say it is my number1 favorite restaurant now. Steak night is Tuesday night , so if you go, get the rib eye with the garlic butter and you will feel like you died and went to heaven. Also if you love blue cheese dressing like I do, I've never had dressing that was that good. And the garlic bread is divine. I have Crohn's disease so I don't eat that much bread, but this bread was so good that I ate about 6 pieces. I can't rave about Mandina's enough. I left so happy and full, and now I can't wait to get back there as soon as I can. I can't see to drive through the tunnel anymore, but when I finish with my eye surgery tomorrow, I'll take an Uber to get there again. read more

My husband and I just left this location highly disappointed and disgusted in the lack of professionalism and good customer service by our sever and the manager which of whom never introduced themselves. Our server had an attitude the moment she walked up to our table and mind you she never introduced herself. She got my order wrong so I asked for a manager and he came to our table and he never introduced himself (I guess this is common practice at Briquettes), but told us our server name was Gabby. He asked me what I wanted him to do about my order which I thought was strange since he is the manager. He told when she comes back she is going to introduce herself and needless to say when she came back, she did not introduce herself. The manager was the one who brought the sandwich back to the table. The sandwich was horrible and I was ready to go. My husband and I are regular customers at this location, but after this experience, not anymore. read more

I eat there every week for lunch and more recently I've added dinner once every other week. I love the food. It's a great local steakhouse with fresh local food. Plan ahead because they do get busy and you may have to wait a few extra minutes to get the quality food. I just wish they had better paper towel dispensers in the bathroom. read more

I took my daughter to this restaurant for her birthday dinner October 12 I am just getting around to writing it, because yes I have time today. The food at this particular restaurant is delicious, I will not take that from this establishment, however the service is piss poor the waitress that I had when I was at the restaurant had a racial bias against me she was extremely nice and sociable with though Caucasian clientele however my group we're all of African dissent she did not want to serve us, she did not come check on us, she was not friendly as she waste a considerable amount of water on me. My group consist of six individuals so in her mind she was guaranteed a 18% tip which means she did not have to cater to us not one bit. I did not know if it was a gathering of six or more that the server is guaranteed 18% gratuity or else I would have requested another server, when I asked her about the gratuity she got an attitude with me and walked away I then ask a bus boy to speak to the manager, it took the manager 10 minutes to come to my table to address my issue, and he also Was ok with the attitude and then informed me that no one else complained about the service so it must be a (us thing) mind you we were the only diners of African dissent in her area. I told him I did not agree with the 18% tip for the piss poor service that the waitress had provided, he begrudgingly took it off of my bill I will not frequent this establishment again not because of the food but because of the service and management read more

I have been staying right around the corner from here since Sunday. I've been searching for a nice, clean, reasonable place that has steaks to write home about. Well, I found this place the day before my departure!!! I am probably the pickiest person in the world when it comes to customer service (former server myself), atmosphere, quality of food, etc. Briquettes definitely gets an A plus in all those areas!!! I had a 10 oz. Ribeye (that was beautifully seasoned and juicy), a loaded baked potato (perfectly cooked), and a side salad that was very fresh and delicious! What an incredible meal and great customer service. We got two orders of wings and one came with 5 and the other came with 3. We looked kind of funny but we had so much other stuff, we didn't say anything. About 10 minutes later, the manager from the kitchen came out with 2 more wings. Awesome experience! Came here for my birthday with one of my girls! Awesome. Very large steak portions so yeah you will be full! The sides are delicious. My friend enjoyed the Parmesan crusted steak medallions and the sweet potatoe casserole and I had the Kansas City steak with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled zucchini. I asked server what type bread did a sandwich come on and she didn't know. I ask maybe french she said "what does french bread look like"? This was my first clue.I watched people that came in after us were getting their food so at 12.00 I asked the manger if could he get our food. He goes to kitchen and comes back to say food is on way. Food was ok but lack of service and empathy from server and manager ruined it all.Our lunch came with a dessert and we asked twice for it. Our server never brought it, We asked twice for to go box also. So we left as we were getting in car the manager comes out with our dessert. We have eaten at other locations before and enjoyed food and service but never again at the Montlimar location. She was sweet but seemed a bit overwhelmed, the place was busy but not super busy. She forgot to bring lime for my beer and part of my dinner order. Unfortunately, the steaks came out mixed up--twice. My friend ordered rare and I ordered medium well, but they came out opposite and we had ordered different steaks. My husband's was rare and came out well done, too. The head chef ended up cooking my husband's steak the third time and it was perfect. What a wonderful surprise to enter a restaurant late after a movie and have a delicious meal served by a professional server. The food is excellent at all the Briquettes in Mobile but this remains our favorite because of the staff. Julia who served us last night was professional and pleasant and seemed to be proud of the food she was serving. The sweet potato side is unique in this area and definitely must be experienced. we were a moderately large group but this did not phase her in the least and help appeared to speed the service as if we were a party of two. They obviously handle larger groups because of the way the bills (split every which way) did not phase them and were accurate. Hanging on the wall is a diagram of exactly how they cut up the cow to get whatever cut you are eating and paintings of cows who by their look (sad and guilt producing) makes you wonder were they related to the meal you are eating (just kidding). This is clearly the best of this type of restaurant in Mobile and it appears they maintain the quality in whatever branch you visit. A 5 star rating. Keep it up! read more

While staying in West Mobile, we came across this place on Yelp, and thought we would try it out. We are so glad we did! We loved this place. The staff was very warm and friendly, doing everything to make sure we enjoyed our meal and experience. Stacey (with an "ey" ) did a fabulous job taking care of us. The steaks were perfect, especially the bacon wrapped filet medallions with Parmesan crust, and my wife said her broccoli was the best she's ever had. Also apologizing. Bottom of chopped steak was burnt 1/8" couldn't eat. Just weird. Love eating at west mobile restaurant, but have had more than one problem at this location. I was given a check which included tip and wasn't told. We were spending a lot of money here on a biweekly basis. They lost our business with this last stunt. Overall, solid place. The bartender was nice and the steak was above average. Not outstanding, but better than Outback. I would go back and eat there again. The only thing I didn't like that much were the wings. If you want a unique wing, they may be good, but if you want a traditional wing, these are not what your looking for. The service was fast and super friendly from the host to the server. I order the 1/2 sandwich (sliced ribeye) and soup (Tortilla). The sandwich was wonderful. The soup was not. My family and I visit both locations of Briquettes. It is our favorite Steakhouse. The service is always top notch and it doesn't matter if it is 2 or 40 of us. We always receive excellent service. I am impressed with the steaks. They are not overly seasoned, they are always cooked to perfection, and just have a great taste. The atmosphere is classy. A friend recommended this place. I had to give it a try, just so I could tell her my husbands is still the best.... Man, he got a run for his money. We both agree that if we could get this steak back home it would be our go to when we wanted a ribeye!! The onion rings are mouth watering and the service and atmosphere were top notch.
