    Chipotle Chicken Cobb Salad

The food is AMAZING!! Cobb Salad with chipotle chicken and blue cheese. YUMM. Chicken pot pie is a masterpiece!

    Happy hr cheese burger

Definitely disappointed. The food/price ratio is ridiculous. We were originally going to take out but after starting an order told us we can't take out on happy hr. So we decided to stay. I got the happy hr bacon Mac and cheese and it was luke warm and a very small portion for 9.50. The bacon didn't taste like bacon and not a lot plus no breadcrumbs. The sauce was very minimal. My husband got the cheese burger and this was the saving grace. Cooked to his request of medium rare and very tasty. The tots were well cooked and not oily. Great burger for 9.50. We shared a fondue plate and were not impressed. The cheese came out in a ceramic dish that kept no heat and by piece 3/4 it had started to congeal. The bread tasted fresh and had good flavor. I don't think it was worth the 12.50. We had drink that were also 9.50 for happy hour and thought they were very basic. I got the rose 75 and he got a crushed basil drink. Nothing to rave about Service was amazing. They were very attentive and came by frequently to check on us. The restaurant it self has great seating and I love the modern look of the place.

Brix Tavern just opened this last week so my expectations were a little low since I know how things can go as a restaurant is getting off the ground. I was pleasantly surprised by everything at Brix during our first experience. The parking lot is ample and we were greeted and seated right away. The dining room is quite large and the indoor/outdoor patio is perfect for the unpredictable Oregon weather as it can be closed off, or opened up. Our server was friendly and our party of four enjoyed the evening! We shared a pepperoni pizza, to start, just so we could try it. The crust was chewy and crusty at the same time, the pizza sauce had fantastic flavor with a distinct basil flavor that I liked. The pizza was the perfect size for us to each have 2 small pieces. For our meal my husband and I shared the Chicken Cobb Salad and split the Classic Burger. I liked everything about both BUT for the price it all seemed a little too small. We had the tots as our chosen side and they were in a small white bowl. In my opinion, they should forego the esthetic of the bowl on the plate and add more tots, especially since the burger is on the smaller side. We all know how inexpensive fries and tots are, as a cost for a restaurant, and they would have customers who feel full and like they got a better deal. Drinks, too, were pricy. We're in Keizer, Oregon, guys...not an upscale Portland restaurant. The best value was the Brown Bag Beer my husband ordered. Bartender's choice, no hints as to what you may get. Literally served in a brown bag, this was my husband's favorite experience of the dinner. The dishes they serve were a wide variety so everyone in a group should be able to find something they could enjoy. This isn't some place we will visit on the regular because we don't see the value (price vs product) but if it's suggested by friends we will be happy to return.

Service was excellent. Surf n turf portion seems small for $39 but taste was great all around.

You choose what you want and order at the counter and they give you a number. Then they'll bring it to your table. I enjoyed the rice bowl. The tofu seemed to be fried and the sauce on it was spicy. The miso Moon coffee thankfully did not taste like miso, lol. My friend had an espresso and said it was terrible, very sour. Everyone else at our table seemed to enjoy our food, there were a lot of burgers and fries being ordered at the group. They have my daughter's favorite sort of salad, with blue cheese and steak. Sadly, they were out of salmon the day we visited. Would definitely consider coming back if I'm in Salem again.

And that's saying a lot. You do not want to know of the torture. Suggestions: 1st: If you want to have a steak on the menu, at least serve the cut that is on the menu. 2nd: if you're worried about food cost, do something pounded, and marinated, OR do a small trimmed cut that is excellent quality, and serve it with a lot of mash and veg, and that bordelaise sauce (which wasn't bad). 3rd: Meatloaf

First impression walking in was much better than the previous spot. Pintxos staff skips the bombastic side eye upon entry and actually greets you whether you're new or a regular. Seems like the bare minimum, but surprisingly nowadays, you don't see it consistently enough. Kudos! The main bartender was friendly and welcoming, and helped us out with the menus and let us peruse a bit. The owner was nice and friendly as well. Their bar staff was attentive in general. The drinks were solid and the food was good. The albondigas were a little too salty for my liking, but the flavor was there. They seem to care about the product they're putting out to serve their patrons, so that is definitely appreciated. Check it out and support them. They seem like cool people and the food and drinks? We came in for brunch and the Breakfast Sally (their breakfast salad) was hands down one of the best brunch dishes I've had. Unexpected, perfectly balanced, and something I'd come back for specifically. Cocktails were just as strong--the Mambo #6 was a standout, and my boyfriend loved both his old fashioned and the breakfast skillet. Everything felt thoughtful without being overdone. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in Salem.

Music was excellent; audible but not intrusive. Comfy chairs. Lower lighting, well placed. Service was excellent, friendly and fast. I think our server's name was Mikayla; a gem. Attentive and observant but never intrusive. Drinks: my old fashioned was absolutely perfect and my husband's margarita was fine. Appetizers: beer cheese was well balanced and a bit runny, which I prefer over the library paste version some places serve. The elotes dip was a standout, mildly spicy, with lime in the cilantro, and warm, crispy chips. (Whatever is in their seasoning for chips and fries should be sold separately -- I wanted to try it on everything.) We probably should have stopped there, as the portions were abundant, but our mains were amazing. Smash burger was insanely juicy, nice and onion-y with a few Crunchy Brown Bits around the edges. The roll was fresh and tender, with a good crust; flavorful, not just a shingle. The fries were the best I've had in Salem. Get the garlic-thyme upgrade; you won't regret it. My ribeye was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately they were out of both compound butters, apparently due to a busy Friday, but everything was well seasoned. The vegetable of the day was roasted Brussels sprouts with a sweet-and-salty sauce, almost like kettle corn; amazing. The outer leaves were caramelized without being burned, and the hearts were tender but not mushy. Crispy fried onions were perfect. Fried potatoes were fine, and enriched by their placement between the steak and the sprouts. The diners who came in before us were all smiles when they left, so it wasn't a fluke. Can't wait to come back!
