Despite the appealing restaurant ambiance, our experience at Brix Tavern in Keizer was disappointing. We had high hopes, but started off with the two old fashions we ordered lacked volume (I understand this drink is usually sparely poured), as seen in the attached picture, even with 5 ice cubes in each it was a sip maybe two at best. They were overly sweet, syrupy, and had an overpowering taste of liquid smoke. Additionally, our main dish order was served incorrectly twice, though we understand that mistakes can happen. When we finally received our burgers, they lacked flavor, but the tomato basil soup was delicious (it was the saving grace). Despite the cool aesthetic inside, we won't be returning to Brix Tavern and won't be recommending it to others. Hopefully, the restaurant will make some changes to improve the overall dining experience. read more

Well put together restaurant, very aesthetically pleasing. Lots of seating options (outdoor tables that are covered, a cute, cozy couch sitting area, bar seating with big comfy stools). The menu is chock-full of variety. Standxs out dishes were the house salad with hazelnut, tomato basil soup (best I've ever had) and the salmon. We went Thursday night. We have never been to Brix before. Nicole gave great recommendations. We started with the Brix chips . My husband ordered the Prime Rib and I ordered the Halibut tacos. The tacos are so delicious and filling, not fishy and cooked to perfection. The prime rib was delicious. Nicole made sure our drinks were always full and table was I clear of dirty plates. We can't wait to come back and try more off the menu. So happy to have this slice of heaven in Keizer. read more

We'd happily return when we have more time to take in the full experience. A few things we've noticed over the years from our experiences with McMenamins: Many of their establishments introduce you to pieces of history you never really knew existed. There's often a surprising depth to the stories behind the properties, and even a quick visit can leave you wanting to learn more. Their beer can be very tasty and original, with a variety of offerings that feel thoughtfully crafted and true to their brand. As for the food, it generally lands in the realm of upscale bar fare, or perhaps bar food that wants to be upscale. Most menus are fairly similar from location to location. Don't get me wrong, the food is good and enjoyable; it just sometimes feels like it's presenting itself as something a bit more elevated than it actually is. The pricing tends to follow that same pattern, occasionally feeling a bit ambitious for what's being served. Service can be great, but it can also be hit or miss, and it's wise to be prepared to wait a little longer than expected at times. That said, the atmosphere and grounds at many of their locations are truly outstanding. You can wander the properties for quite a while at many of their locations and still not see everything. The level of detail throughout, both inside and out, is often absolutely amazing and is what really sets McMenamins apart.
