BRT always has friendly bartenders and are always willing to put on whatever game I came to watch. The food is pub food and it's not bad at all. The drink specials are great. They have darts and pool. It's just a really solid spot to grab drinks and watch some games. One time they had a pretty bad live act on but they kept the house music on in front so it wasn't a night ruiner by any means. I really genuinely think this is a good bar. Here on a Friday night, couldn't get service, food was over an hour wait, and the place was less than half full. Clearly a staffing issue.

Since the renovation, the Broad Ripple Tavern is one of the better places in Broad Ripple. This place, unlike many other Broad Ripple bars late in the evening, isn't f slammed with a bunch of aholes (you know the other bars i am referencing). The food is very good and the atmosphere is even better during the late afternoon, early evening when you can grab a chair by the garage door windows. read more

I like the tavern, but not enough to make it my regular spot in Broad Ripple. Its usually pretty barren in there on the weekdays and on the weekends it seems like this place has trouble getting crowds in the door. It's not like its a bad place to hang out, i dont know why it never seems to be very packed. I like the pool tables in the back, and on monday nights it's free pool all night. They have decent food and pretty standard beer and alcohol specials throughout the week so going on the right night can make it a pretty cheap hang out spot. Give it a try, its not the greatest place you can go in broad ripple, but its certainly not the worst by a longshot. read more

I actually like the Tavern--which really surprises me. The greatest aspect of the bar is its size. There is plenty of room for pool and enough room to spread out. It is not nearly as loud as other bars in the area--which probably also has to do with the size of the place. There are usually specials. If you are looking for good beers, don't go here. Well we went on the CCA bar crawl and we're having a blast till we got to BRT. The door guy was a straight jerk. Sent us to another door and that when things turned. The other door guy I think he said his name was jimmy made it better he was super friendly and told us about the "the Jello shots they may not be yummy but are very effective" won't ever forget that. Bartenders where awesome and the photo booth was superb. We will come back soon the chicken fingers are WOW great honey mustard. read more

Came here on a Saturday night around 8 to watch some basketball and have a few beers. Beers were cheap ($4 24 oz domestics) and the atmosphere is nice. You have the bar up front with some booth seating and tables, with lots of tvs, as well as a nice back room where the games are, darts, pool, etc. The food was delicious. I highly suggest their buffalo chicken wrap. It's a little dark and maybe not the cleanest place you'll ever visit, but it's your perfect tavern to go watch a game at. read more

Kind of like OPTs, but bigger. They have pretty decent food here, too--cheese sticks are a combination of large breadsticks and mozzarella sticks, A.K.A., tasty. There's ample seating in the back, where the television screens are, and a darker, more sociable atmosphere at the front close to the bar. I have been here 3 times and I don't know why. If I am going for just a beer and I am sufficiently....relaxed....and have been served enough to not care...then I am just fine at BRT. But if I am trying to have a little food and some drinks at the beginning of the evening, then this place drives me bats%^& insane. I ask for a menu, it never arrives. I borrow one from the table next to me, prepare to order, but the server tosses my drink on the table and walks away too fast for me to shout "I would like to order!" The server comes back 10 minutes later and reluctantly takes my order, not realizing I don't have and never did have a menu. Food arrives, but a coca-cola my friend orders never arrives. The floor is sticky early on, probably from not being mopped the night before. The last time I was there, they had only 2 servers in the entire place during an IU game. Another friend complained to no one in particular that the fish n chips used to be good but were no longer any good. The quality is sinking. The bottom line: I think it is mismanaged. It drives me so completely crazy to be there, that I need to leave and have a drink elsewhere to relax and have a good time. I might go back a 4th time just to be sure, but I am guessing I will regret it. read more

The drinks come fast here. There is usually a place to sit other than peak hours. The food is a step above bar food. I have had some pretty good stuff here and the staff are all very friendly. Jukebox, pool tables, lots of tvs, windown seats to watch passer-bys. read more

I came here on a Friday before it got busy. I was starving so I ordered the bloody mary pizza. The pizza took over an hour to come out. The waitress visited 5 or 6 times between my order and receiving the pizza and kept saying...it's coming soon...I promise. I have a few drinks before the pizza came! Also, when I requested drinks, they were out of a lot of beverages including the special. I don't think that you should tell the customer what the special is if you're out of the drink. read more

I agree with Chris M. While I'd rather go to the BRT than any other place on the strip (OPT's is a close second), I never quite feel comfortable here. The bartenders are nice enough, the atmosphere is laid back enough, but there's just something about it that wouldn't make me a regular. Agreed regarding the renovation. New seating and a new menu make the Broad Ripple Tavern more cozy than before. The large garage-door-style windows are great on a summer day and in the winter they have two fireplaces. BRT is basically two different bars - on the weekends the kids play and during the week there isn't a lot of bass kicking but instead (generally) classic rock and contemporary hits making for a laid-back atmosphere. They also have lots of TVs so my buddies and I come here for games we want to watch on the projection screen. read more

I was here quite recently on a Saturday night and the crowd was sparse. (We ate there because we easily got a table after trying our favorite Brugge, which was on a wait.) After strolling through Broad Ripple we decided to try this place because we haven't been in a while, and nobody ever goes there anymore. It was hard to find anything on the unimaginative menu, but opted for a salad, which was gritty, limp, and over-dressed. My boyfriend got a sandwich, which was supposed to be hot, but it was quite the opposite, like it had been sitting for awhile. One high note: our waitress was friendly and peppy. We moved to the bar after dinner so the BF could catch some of his game and it took a while for someone to wait on us, even though it was not crowded. The ONLY thing this place has going for it are the bathrooms, which are nice and roomy, but alas, no TP. The food is incredibly ho-hum - the same crap churned out in Hoosier restaurant kitchens everywhere. Bottom line: You can find this same boring bar in any BFE town in Indiana, including the dolts behind the bar, who were rude, like they wanted to be anyplace else but working. Hello?! You're in the service industry. One guy kept leaving the bar to go cheese it up with his girlfriend and her friends, who magically did not have a bill. Try it if you want, but why would you? The same place is right down the street. Or across it. Or around the corner. read more

Sat at the bar for 15 minutes, waiting patiently to buy a drink for my friends and I. The bartender (dark haired with tattoos on her arms) took care of people to my left and my right, who came in and sat down at least 10 minutes after I did. It was like I wasn't even there. I explained my situation to the head of security and he pretended like he cared, but he obviously didn't. I will never go back and I will never recommend this place to anyone. My husband and I were invited to join a pool league and our first tournament was at Broad Ripple Tavern, which we hadn't been to before. I was pleasantly surprised on the outstanding customer service from our attentive and super sweet server Nicole! We ordered a BLT w/ Cole Slaw and a Stadium Hot Dog...it was amazing and I've been craving their home made slaw ever since! Our next tournament is in a week and I'm looking forward to coming back! read more

Last week,at the Tavern, My husband and I enjoyed the Okla. State football game with the OSU alumni. Nicole was our waitress and she did a great job. My husband had the tenderloin steak sandwich that he devoured and I had the chicken fingers( hand breaded and not greasy) and the awesome fried pickles. It was a great place and great company, to cheer on our home team. read more

BRT, you make me so sad! My friend and I were heading out for a concert this past weekend and she had been raving about the burgers at BRT. I love meat in all forms and am a big fan of an awesome burger, so I was stoked to go! I was even more stoked when I saw they had fried pickles on their menu. When we got there we had about an hour until we wanted to be at the show we were headed to for the evening. What I immediately liked was that we were in a bar on the main strip in Broad Ripple that seemed pretty dive-y. divey. div-ey, whatever. I like dives, so this works for me! What I did not like was the smoky smell or the fact that even though it was 45 degrees out, they had two of the windows in the main area opened. Dude. It's cold and I'm not a tweeked out meth addict. Close the freaking window. Wazza matta, you? But I think, meh, whatever, it's smoky and cold but I hear the burgers are great. The waitress says she'll be back in a moment to take our order and I begin to peruse the menu. My friend uses the restroom, I people watch, window watch, my friend comes back, we chat. Next thing you know, 20 minutes have gone by and neither of us have ordered a drink, much less an allegedly delicious burger. Eff this place. I don't think the rating they have makes them worth going back for a second go round to see if it was a fluke. That was just phenomenally shitty service. The place wasn't even crowded, that's the kicker. So to heck with you, Broad Ripple Tavern! to heck, I say! read more

Some of these low reviews are funny. Broad Ripple Tavern was open & inviting, my boyfriend and I sat down without a problem on Thursday after asking what food they were still serving and being advised there was the usual bar food. And that it was! I honestly just wanted a Bloody Mary above all else, and that was out to the table within 10 mins of sitting down (and asking for a menu, and my boyfriend deciding on a beer). We ordered mozzarella sticks & chili and cheese fries, which were AWESOME. The chili was meat & beans chili, the REAL kind, and the cheese was melted perfectly on top, not that nacho cheese crap. My Bloody Mary was awesome, not over the top and with the perfect amount of spice. The food was greasy and filling which is exactly what I expected it to do while we watched the Thursday night game. Staff was friendly throughout and we even got a knowing "thanks for coming" and wave from the guy who helped us at the door as we were walking out.
