Service was okay. Food was meh. The chicken and noodles were bland and runny. They came with mashed potatoes that were alright. They seemed to be copying some of the menu items and specials from Grindstone Public House, which is nearby. The bartender seemed to want me to leave as soon as possible. She wasn't very friendly. Although it's called Bar Ellis, there is more of a restaurant feel to this place, but I wouldn't recommend the food. read more

First time in Bar Ellis yesterday. We had a nice time and decided that we would go back here again. Our waitress, Skylar, did a wonderful job and made sure we didn't have any questions about anything and also offered us the happy hour menus since we were still within the window for happy hour. She did a great job as we did not want for anything. We ordered appetizers off of the happy hour menu. My friend ordered the shrimp and I ordered the ahi tuna and both dishes were excellent, I would order either one of them again. We both started our meal with a drink called Yes Chef, I thought this drink was just okay nothing spectacular. I liked the second cocktail that I ordered much better, it was Pucker Up, Buttercup. My friend though enjoyed the first cocktail better and ordered it again. I ordered the gumbo for my main and my friend ordered another appetizer of edamame and she said it was delicious. The gumbo was fine I probably would not order it again so next time I will seek out something different on the menu. We both ordered dessert to go and I have to say mine did not make it home! The wedding cake was moist and so delicious and had a raspberry coulis and filling. Definitely would get this dessert again! Like a lot of businesses in the downtown Noblesville area this bar and restaurant was in an old building that was really cool to look at, it was an old brick building. Our server, Katelyn (there are a million ways to spell this) was so sweet and knowledgeable. We ordered the chicken and noodles and a small chop salad and they were both perfectly executed. Bar Ellis is hands down one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in a long time! We've tried so many new restaurants lately, and honestly, we've been disappointed more times than not. The food is just okay, the service is lacking, or the atmosphere misses the mark. Going out to eat is expensive these days, so when you find a place that gets everything right, it's worth talking about. Bar Ellis got EVERYTHING right. We started with the spinach dip (the famous 10 West recipe) and the crab rangoon appetizer, and both were amazing. Then I had the beef tips, which were absolutely incredible. Without a doubt, the best beef tips I've ever eaten. Our server, Sean, was fantastic. He was funny, kind, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy taking care of his guests. Great service makes a huge difference, and Sean made the experience even better. The restaurant itself is beautiful. I love that it's two levels, and the outdoor patio is such a great place to relax & eat. The atmosphere feels fun, welcoming, and upscale without being stuffy. Another huge bonus is their happy hour. It's one of the best around, and the fact that they offer it on weekends is almost unheard of. And don't skip dessert! When Plan A Falls Through, Sometimes You Find Something Better Our original restaurant choice was closed for the month. Time for a pivot. My father-in-law works downtown Noblesville and suggested we try Bar Ellis. Little did we know, we were about to stumble into one of the best dining experiences we'd had in a long time. Walking through the door, I was immediately struck by the interior. Historic brick walls met comfortable, chic modern design. The space was warmly lit and welcoming, and fortunately, so was the team at Bar Ellis. The hostess seated us quickly, and Grant, our server, arrived moments later with drink menus and a genuine smile. Then came the real challenge: helping my non-seafood-eating wife find a gluten-free option she'd actually enjoy. After a thoughtful conversation with Grant, she made her choice. I followed, excitedly ordering the salmon BLT. "Is this one any good?" I asked. Grant's face said it all. I was in for a treat. He wasn't exaggerating. My sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. The salmon was perfectly prepared. The bacon was crisp and full of flavor. The bread was toasted just right, crispy but not too thick. Every element worked in harmony: the crunch of the bread, the tenderness of the salmon, the crisp bacon, all elevated by a dill mayo that tied everything together. I know it's "just" an elevated BLT. But it's the best one I've ever had. I was genuinely sad when it was over. It was one of those rare meals that left me wishing I could be hungry all over again. As we finished, I sought out the manager, Chamron. She greeted me warmly and asked how everything was. After sharing my compliments about the food and service, I asked about the story behind Bar Ellis. She smiled and told me about two sisters and a brother-in-law, a chef with a passion for exceptional food and desserts, who dreamed of creating a restaurant that was both classy and hip. Then she shared something unexpected: Bar Ellis transforms on Friday and Saturday nights from 9 PM to midnight. Friday features karaoke, Saturday brings live music, and the whole place shifts to a 21-and-over scene. Even the lighting changes, creating a darker, moodier atmosphere. The scratch kitchen stays open throughout, so you won't miss out on that incredible food. I'm usually too old to be out that late, but I just might need to make an exception to experience this transformed space and enjoy that delicious salmon BLT again. Bar Ellis is one of those places you can't stop eating until every bite is gone! Our table got a variety of appetizers, but I personally got the empanadas and crab rangoons and WOWWW! This is the 3rd time I've had the rangoon's and they keep getting the better. The empanadas were delicious, crispy on the outside and so savory inside. Although I was already already stuffed to the brim, I went for the carrot cake while my friends also ordered the peanut butter pie and wedding cake, all 3 were to die for. The mocktail I ordered was fantastic! Loved the flavor combo. Service was great! Our server was lovely, quick, and we were sat immediately even without a reservation. We had a great dining experience at Bar Ellis for our anniversary. There was rooftop seating (3rd level) that we reserved on open table. Service was excellent with plenty of staff to tend to your needs. There is also patio seating for anyone interested. Free parking was available in the garage behind the restaurant. We started with appetizers: jerk chicken wings with my wife getting a mocktail margarita and I got a draft beer. They have a good selection. We got ours from the bar on 3rd floor. Next up was entree: the crab stuffed salmon blackened, roasted red pepper beurre blanc, broccoli florets which was very delicate and tasty and such excellent presentation. My wife had the shaved steak sandwich with provolone cheese, caramelized onions, au jus on parmesan sourdough which she said was off the hook. Our group was super excited to try Bar Ellis. Unfortunately, the rudeness of what we thought was the staff - but found out she was an owner - ruined our experience. To start, they made our cocktails incorrectly. When we started to inform the lady delivering our drinks about the mishap, she cut me short and yelled out stating that our drinks were correct! She continued to yell that our waiter, Grant, had placed the order that way so that's how we got it! Then she stomped off. Never returned to apologize even after Grant confirmed that they were made incorrectly! We asked who the rude lady was that yelled at us. Grant told us that she was "just an employee". We found out later that no - she's an owner! We frequent many dining establishments. This experience was not worth our time or money. One of our guests was gluten free and the lack of knowledge from the entire staff was unacceptable. They forget one of the wing orders which took an extra 30/40 minutes to get and once received, there was no apology for their error or the time it took. They even over charged us for blue cheese and wing sauces with our chicken wings which was supposed to be included. We never questioned it as we couldn't wait to get out of there! We will not be back! Do better Bar Ellis!! Especially the owner that truly lacks experience in customer service!! I met some friends here for dinner recently and was happy to find a new restaurant in downtown Noblesville that I enjoyed. I tried the horseradish tomato soup (same as the one at 10 West), a salad and a lemon drop martini. The food was very good - I have always been a fan of it at 10 West and I liked their take on the lemon drop (with vanilla). The atmosphere was fantastic- I can't wait until it's warm enough to eat outside! Service was efficient and friendly. Overall a nice visit and addition to downtown. read more

Very fortunate to have this restaurant steps from where I live. Overall, it has a very cozy neighborhood vibe. I chose to sit up at the upstairs bars, partly because I wanted to give myself a little tour. I had been studying their menu for awhile. Was happy to see they have a mocktail menu since I am doing Dry January (but cant wait to come back to have an actual cocktail. They all look delicious) I ordered the Virgin Paloma. It was delicious. One of the best mocktails I have had all month. It did take awhile to get someone's attention to order some food. There seemed to be plenty of staff. I ordered the crab rangoons. I'm starting with dessert first. Cause that slice of wedding cake. Wow. The title fits it perfectly. A classic cake, elevated to perfection. Everything about it was spot on, the cake texture, sweetness level, amount of frosting and filling. Then we must talk about the vegan options - two entrees, two sandwiches, two appetizers, one salad. As a vegetarian, it's nice I don't have to just settle and order from a list of salads or sides, which is my typical experience at places like this. The vegan chik'n milanese was a good option. The lemon caper sauce brought it all together. Would like to try one of their sandwiches next time. We ordered a bunch of apps to share and honestly, they all slapped. The crab rangoons were my favorite, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, just so good. The smoked salmon pinwheels and bacon wrapped shrimp were also solid and had great flavor. I tried one of the Delta 9 seltzers while we were there. The flavor I picked wasn't my favorite but I've had them before and usually like them so I'd still give it another shot. My friend got the shaved steak and the portion was huge, definitely come hungry if you're going for that. Their menu has a ton of variety so I'm already planning to come back and try more. It has been a while since a restaurant totally knocked my socks off. Bar Ellis is a noblesville gem! We went here for my dads birthday dinner. We tried a few appetizers which were delicious. Everyone loved their cocktails as well. I tried the crab stuffed salmon. It was INCREDIBLE! I just got the side of broccoli but you're able to swap out for any of their sides. My husband got the Gumbo. It came with chicken and sausage and it was also very delicious. We got to sit upstairs. I think we saw that this place was a "rooftop" bar. It kind of is because it's on the second floor and with the warmer weather they can open up the garage door style patio doors, but it is a covered patio. Still great vibes though read more

I reserved a table of 4 at 7pm. When I made the reservation 2 weeks prior I requested to be sat in a certain area not a specific table though. The hostess was completely dismissive as take the table we give you or leave. It was my sister's birthday so we didn't have much choices if we left for a Saturday night. We sat down to order drinks and the bartender missed the mark in the Mule drink. It was all the taste of jalapeño to the point a different drink has to be ordered. So far not a good start to the night. We ordered empanadas as an appetizer and 2 were served in a plate with a side of salsa. They were very bland with no flavor in the filling. The puff pastry and the salsa were the substitute for the flavor. Entrees were Crab stuffed Salmon with Asparagus, tomato/horseradish soup with 2 cheese crostini's, 2 small crunch salads. The portions were on mark,Not too big not too small. Salmon was blackened and cooked to perfection. Salads had fresh veggies and the dressing complimented the dish. The soup is amazing however it was served more in the warm side. The server was sub par. Not too friendly, she was all business and didn't t see her much. That said on the 2nd floor in the screened in area, at dusk, be sure not to have a seat facing West, the sun is so bright directly in your eyes you can't see your date across the table. But I'll just stop my whining and bring my sunglasses next time. Now for the food. Well it wasn't anything mind blowing. It was ok. Daughter had a burger. Wife had seafood shells and I had the French dip. I'll just say I think the fries were exactly like the frozen fries you find at a grocery store. A Wonderful Early Valentine's Dinner Last night we went to Bar ellis with friends for an early Valentine's Dinner, which turned out to be one of the best evenings that we have enjoyed at BE. We went for the Sweetheart Swans dessert, which is one of Chef Bill's many signature desserts and my wife's favorite. But the real joy was the evening's special - a Seafood Pasta with Penne pasta, scallops, shrimps and lobster in a magnificent lobster cream sauce. Absolutely one of the best pasta (and seafood) dishes that I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. That's the Wonder of dining at Bar ellis - the food is always extremely good, the ambience great and you're always treated like friends even if it's your first visit; and then there's Bill's specials. Gotta go with the full five stars- this place was great in every aspect. The menu, food, service (thank you for taking such good care of us, Alex!) and atmosphere were all on point. Two of us ordered the Pork Schnitzel, one ordered the Walleye and one had the Blackened Grouper Taco special. First time going. My wife got a 5:15pm reservation, Saturday night. We got seated immediately. My wife got a Cool as a cucumber drink and really enjoyed it. I had a lemonade. She got a salad (mixed greens), I got the Tomato and horseradish soup. Both were excellent especially the soup. It was served with small grilled cheese sandwiches. The entree, my wife got the special which was a Pasta, with blackened chicken etc. I got a stuffed salmon with crab. Excellent, excellent. For desert we got the wedding cake. My wife liked it better than me. To me it was too sweet. Overall, it was an excellent experience. Service was great. After we got our food, the owner stopped by to make sure everything was good. There was not a good place to put my coat while I was eating and the space between the tables was super tight for me. The drinks left something to be desired. The blood orange whiskey sour lacked the punch of blood orange that I was expecting (both in color and flavor), and the slice of orange that was in it was not a blood orange. The old fashioned had muddled cherries and oranges rather than the traditional style of service. Having pulp in your drink is not always the best. The rest of the food was excellent... I will definitely be back, I just will come when it's less crowded and stick to water. read more

What a great addition to the Noblesville square! We loved everything from the atmosphere to the food and the service. Set in a historical building with exposed brick - we were seated on the second floor overlooking the activity on the street/courthouse. There is also seating in the alley and rooftop during warm weather....closed to adults only after 9 pm. We'd like to come back on a Saturday for the entertainment. The food was excellent - I had the Chicken Milanese (moist and delicious) and my husband had the special - porterhouse pork chop with apple chutney.... He loved it.
