I'd love to say that Broadway Deli is 5 star worthy, but i just can't. Employees are wonderful, very sweet and passionate about their jobs. But the food, it's just meh. Suggestion - when customers ask for ketchup, just give them the whole bottle. read more

Nancy the owner and chef has 20 years of experience in this restaurant and once you are in the place (which is family run and ready to serve you a damn good meal) you know it! I visited my dearest friend Lynne in Maine and she brought us here for brunch. I had the fried egg sandwich with avocado and cheddar on homemade Bialy bread. Brunch potatoes are best if you order on demand. We ordered a plate of blueberry pancakes for the table and I probably ate most of it since I had to undo my jeans button before leaving. Service is great and the coffee is fresh and hot. I truly believe that it is time to give the "Mom and Pop" places in this world all the love we can. If you head to Broadway not only will you support you'll get a great meal to boot. PS: If you like the Bialy bread Nancy usually has a few extra fresh baked pieces by the register if you want to take one home with you. read more

I will start by saying the service is really good, and the people are really so, so nice. This was the second time I try eggs Benedict there and you know the saying, "hurt me once shame on you, hurt me twice shame on me"... It's clearly not the meal to have here. Poached eggs are rather hard boiled and are topped with next to no hollandaise sauce. It's a pretty dry meal, not what you'd expect from Benedict. I will say, had I complained, I'm sure they would have fixed it for me, I just did not have the time. I will be back because of the service, but I'll try something different. read more

My breakfast experience here was absolutely as mediocre as a breakfast experience could be. The hotel sent me there, citing it as a place that had a good full-service breakfast experience. Well, it was full-service. I was one of three tables in the restaurant. I asked for an omelet that came with a bunch of stuff (including salsa), and asked if they could put spinach in it as well. The salsa came out later because the chef forgot it; that doesn't bother me, cuz stuff happens. But the spinach never came; that bothers me. The food itself was just fine. Straight up diner-style food that was plenty tasty to pass muster. The folks were super pleasant, and while the place itself has clearly been around for a long time, it seemed to be clean and well-maintained. But there simply wasn't a single thing about this breakfast that was memorable. Honestly, not one. Quick side note: it's called a deli, but I can't see how that's even remotely true - at least not in the NY sense that we're used to. read more

Came here due to awesome reviews on Trip Advisor. Upon arriving, we were left standing awkwardly in the doorway while the waitstaff ignored us. We finally flagged someone down and got seated. Food took way too long to arrive and in the meantime, no one checked in for possible coffee refills. When the food did come, the waffles were way too dense and heavy, the potatoes bland, and all in all just OK. Had to flag down another waitress after waiting to ask for the bill, then 15 minutes later had to grab a different waitress to actually receive it. Come to find out, they had charged us an extra $1.50 for real maple syrup we'd never even ordered! We chose not to point it out so we could leave (had been there for well over an hour), but the complete lack of service astounded me. Besides that, the servers were really friendly. As residents of Brunswick, my wife and I have come to this restaurant a couple of times a year for more than two decades. While the wait staff has always been friendly and accommodating, our experiences have been rather ordinary regarding food and promptness. However, this past Sunday we decided to try it again and we were amazed at the promptness of service, quality of food, and attentiveness of the staff. The french toast was fantastic, awesome home made (not out of a can) corned beef hash, bacon cooked just right, and marvelous eggs Benedict. Not only were we happy, but the table next to us was amazed at their blintzes saying they were the best they ever had... This was an unexpected nice surprise. We were looking for breakfast in Brunswick on Sunday morning. Happened to walk by and just figured we'd give it a shot. I didn't even Yelp it first (gasp!) The staff were amazing right as we walked in, joking with us and with genuine smiles and greetings. We piled into a booth and enjoyed some coffee. The prices were great. I had French Toast and it was around $4. I did add some bacon and fruit which made it cost a little more. Meals were all very good. Cheese blitz was fantastic and also friend said his pumpkin pancakes were great. Will definitely try this place again. read more

I always take my niece out for a special breakfast on her birthday, but this year was more complicated. This complication was especially frustrating because she turned 18 this year. We did research and finally decided on Broadway Deli primarily because it was in the general geographic area we wanted to spend the day and because it was serving take-out on a Monday, a day on which many others were closed. It turned out to be a great choice. Not only was the food delicious, but the mother and daughter wrote a personal happy birthday note on her take-out container and cut 2 daffodils, wrapped them, and gave them to her with warmest birthday wishes. Over the last week I have struggled whether to make this post or not. That may sound over dramatic, but I am not the kind of person that likes to take shots at people/businesses online. However, the more I thought about it the more I realized for safety purposes I really should. Last Monday I ordered eggs and a chocolate milk from Broadway Deli and had it delivered to my office. Imagine my surprise when I took a large gulp of my milk only to find it was a giant cup of Maple Syrup! It was gross but also a little funny. I called the Deli and the woman sounded mortified as "the cups were next to each other". Now I thought it was a simple mix up. Maybe someone ordered pancakes and wanted extra syrup and the delivery driver grabbed the wrong cup. NOPE. I found out later that what I drank from was the OVERFLOW Cup. What is an OVERFLOW CUP YOU ASK? Well, in the kitchen there is the Maple Syrup machine, the overflow cup is placed under the nozzle and sits there all day (if not longer) to catch the excess syrup that drizzles from the nozzle. This means that someone in the kitchen walked over to the machine, picked up an UNCOVERED cup of Maple Syrup and either did not bother to LOOK AT IT, or thought Maple Syrup and chocolate milk look the same. Put a lid on it and set it out for consumption. While I initially thought it was funny, I started to wander if this happened, what other Cross Contamination is happening in this kitchen? What if that had been a cup of cleanser or other chemical, or if I was allergic? And why are to-go beverages for customers being placed next to the Maple Syrup Machine? Did no one see this coming? Anyway, while the woman I spoke with was nice and they later tried to break the ice by telling me I drank high quality maple syrup (about $20 worth) I can only hope they learned from this. read more

Ran across this place while searching for local diners and it looked like a good place to try for breakfast. We sat at one of the 2 pleasant outside tables. Our server was prompt and joyfully cheerful. Too bad the food and attention to customers couldn't be on par. We both ordered omelets both of which were burned. 2 slices of "home-baked" toast were included for which I got 1 small slice from the end of a loaf and the heal of another loaf neither of which looked or tasted home-baked. I felt like we were getting scraps. I haven't tried any other places in downtown Brunswick yet but I'm sure there are better choices. read more

Went here for breakfast with 2 friends on a Saturday morning. While the place was busy there was no excuse for our experience. I ordered coffee and an omelette and my friends ordered pancakes. 15 minutes in to our 45 minute wait for food we asked for more coffee, It never came. we were close enough to the pot that I got up and got it myself. When our food arrived my friends asked for syrup, it never came. They say there looking at their pancakes become even colder than they were when served waiting for syrup until finally they gave up after asking twice and ate a few bites dry. My omelette was terrible, cold, lacking in filling and just not good. We ending up leaving unfull and unsatisfied. There are so many great breakfast places in town they have got to better than what we experienced to keep me coming back. read more

Our recent breakfast visit was disappointing. Our server was very attentive and the place was clean but the problem is the mediocre food quality coupled with a very slow kitchen. The menu looks great with interesting items but what came to the table didn't live up to the descriptions. Omelettes and accompanying items were small portions and just not prepared well. Maybe an inexperienced cook but breakfast should not be hard. Also, even though the place was not too crowded it took about thirty minutes to get our order. Looking around it was clear that other tables were waiting similar periods and I guess the cook did everything in sequence. Our server kept the coffee coming, thankfully. We came here once before, food was good but the service was slow. We gave it another try since the place is nice. This time we waited over an hour for breakfast. I think they only serve each table every 30 minutes, since only 2 other tables were served before us. We will never go back to this place. I love it here! My fiancé and I have been for breakfast many times over the last few years and it has always been a good experience for us. They have vegetarian options and gluten free bread at no extra charge which is basically unheard of. The omelettes are good and they always have a bunch of different specials to choose from.
