I have been meaning to write this review. We recently went for lunch on June 21st. It was for my husband's grandma's 101 birthday. The staff really made her special she was surprised and so happy with the surprise dessert. I would like to personally thank the manager and waiter that was accommodating us. I would have given this place 100 stars, if I could. The place itself isn't very cozy, it used to be a Bank, prices, moderate, like in any other average restaurant, BUT, with owners, who couldn't be more welcoming and pleasant, and stuff, who makes you feel at home and willing to accommodate you in every possible way, always with a smile, always with good suggestions. Kat, thank you for being so sweet and kind. And, of course, LIVE MUSIC! What a treat to spend an evening, with a glass of wine, munching on a tasty meal and listening to live music. We came to this place for a live jazz night. It's a classic nice and cozy setting. Beautiful inside out. We sat inside for the music. But they also have very nice outdoor seating as well with nice heaters, which makes the whole outdoor dining at night time so comfortable and enjoyable. Definitely can dress up for this place. Fig & prosciutto salad. Light and refreshing. Highly recommend! A perfect starter. Mushroom ravioli is always good. Can't go wrong with that. The blackened fish was really really good. I can only say amazing things about the Broadway Grill. We ordered the BWG Negroni and the Rainiy Days cocktails,  absolutely amazing! We started our epicurean adventure with the Mushroom Skillet,  and it only made our expectation of our main dish almost impossible to reach. We shared the Brodway Burger, and that expectation I mentioned was blown out of the park. First, we need to start at the quality of ingredients. The produce was fresh and excellent quality. The freshly ground beef from local butcher was perfect. Then, to combine the onions and beef being cooked to perfection, we felt if we had a taste of heaven. We had also upgraded the dish to onion rings, and trust me, I dare you to find anything comparable. To end our adventure, we share another BWG Negroni and the seasonal apple crumble that was topped with the purest vanilla ice-cream you could ever have.  The staff was beyond amazing, they provided the most attentively friendly service that made this visit truly special. When bringing the ambiance into the combination of the amazing food and service, you truly can feel relaxed and realize you have been transported to not only a special place but a special moment where you have enjoyment of the people around you and yourself. From the beautiful works of art, the decor, and the live music this place is not just special but a true gem. In town for business and was directed to the Broadway Grill. Definitely was taken back a bit with the price of the place as when we were told about it, and with a name like "Broadway Grill" we had all assumed it to be a blue collar, bar & grill burger joint. So when we arrived, we were surprised that it was rather opposite than they. So, wearing T-shirt, shirts, and a baseball cap...we were a tad underdressed. HOWEVER, no one looked at us odd, the staff was excellent and no one passed judgement on us low-pro traveling tourists. We all agreed "what the hell, let's stay" and we are glad we did. The entire area was open air with big beautiful windows with an upstairs and main floor dining option. They also had a beautiful outdoor seating area, which being from up north...that's where we chose to sit. All the staff were very nice, very professional and also had a sense of humor (which is always welcome with us). They did get really busy and the wait time was a little longer than normal but the wait staff kept us up to date on the delay and offered compensation for the wait. They had a local Jazz band play live indoors but was heard well outside as well. The band was good, but there was a weird part where the lead talked about some chick slitting her throat and wrist and slowly dying on the floor. Typically California hipster conversation...right?? Once our food came out, it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT! It was some of the best prime rib I've ever had and the way the cooked the Brussel Sprouts...I was lying on the floor...dying...very joyfully. I'm never one to order a dessert, but our humorous waiter talked us into it. The cake was delicious. And once we finished that we were served a complimentary dessert port wine. It was a great experience. Needless to say, I didn't eat anything the next day cause I was still plum full from that decadent meal. If you ever have the chance...don't let the prices turn you away. Splurge and enjoy the experience of the Broadway Grill. Upon returning home, my wife asked where the hell I had ate. We hadn't been to Broadway Grill in quite a while, but decided to return after my sister recommended it and we're so glad we did. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. I had the salmon, my husband ordered the trout, and our daughter had the power bowl. All three dishes were delicious and full of flavor. For dessert, we tried the Honey Cake, a thinly layered cake with filling between the layers, apparently popular in Scandinavian countries. It was both novel and delicious. A great way to end the meal. Service was excellent and the ambiance warm and inviting. We'll definitely be back again soon! 10/10 read more

We attended a private party with about 80 guests. The restaurant is in an old bank building, so the ambiance is very cool. The staff was delightful and very attentive. They served about 9 courses of very flavorful and interesting dishes. The crispy Brussels sprouts are to die for! It's been years since I've gone there and I has some friends from out of town so decided to take them there. I had no expectations but I knew it was pricey. The service was average but the food was below average. Not just my plate but everyone's plate. Starting with the four pieces of garlic bread which were more like four slivers of something. Didn't taste like garlic bread at all. Didn't finish it. My friend agreed and was said it tasted funny. My pasta was not any better than a frozen food dinner from Safeway. Didn't have much of a taste but there was something off. I didn't finish it. My friend had the salmon. Said the fish had good taste but the mash potatoes were horrible. His wife had French onion soup. It was hard like a rock with too much cheese. Maybe we were there on an off night but for the price it's not even funny. Unfortunately I won't be going back. I'll start with a positive. The staff was friendly and attentive. The had live entertainment, which could have been toned down volume wise but she had a lovely voice making it palpable The decor was inviting however like a Venus flytrap, deceiving. The "4 piece" garlic bread was the portion of three fingers side by side (literally, when served I thought it was a joke and did the comparison) and tasted like cardboard. The french onion soup was coagulation of cheese, little flavor unedible. The salmon was favorable and cooked properly (a positive) but the portion size (palm size if that), for the price was not worth it ($33). The accompanying mash potatoes were horrible, with the consistency of instant packet brands. I was extremely disappointed. The staff and the salmon flavor kept this from being a 1 star. read more

Pleasantly surprised! Came here to for a bike ride from San Mateo and found happy here, tues-fri 2-5pm. Patio seating included. They have house wines, which were great for $6, beers for $5 (I think) and other snacks like fries, mushroom ravioli, onion rings, etc. It was a super nice day to be seated outside and our server was very nice and thoughtful. Live music was indoors, piano and guitarist, and they have live music a lot! Love the piano vibes. All of their seating currently is next to a window (which lines the entire perimeter). The bar is small but mighty. Fries were excellent. Wine and beer was plentiful. Mushroom ravioli was a bit bland but worth a try. Can't wait to be back. read more

This is such a great option for a quick lunch or a dinner. I like the outdoor seating and that they are very dog friendly. The food had been really nice each time I've been and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. It's pretty popular so it might be a bit loud for conversation but most of the times I've been it's been easy to chat and relax. The live music I've seen has been a bit more ambiance than performative but if your goal is to chat instead of listen and sing along then it's perfect. Location: Bookending the west end of beautiful Broadway Ave, it makes the perfect place to settle in after a stroll among the various small businesses. The huge towering building hides the classic upscale interior. The Entertainment: Live music fills the air 4 days a week and perfectly complements the classical interior. Our night was accompanied by smooth Jazz from a Cool Sax, Piano, Cello and Drum Quartet The Drinks: Enjoy a classic Margarita while soaking in the sounds, or choose from their massive wine list that carries everything from non-alcoholic to traditional Napa and European grown, along with Organic and Sustainability made wines. We loved their unique twists such as the Jalapeno Cucumber Margarita, which ties the heat from the former and the cool from the latter. The Food: With such a wide variety it's a good bet everyone can be happy. We highly recommend the Garlic Rye Bread and Crispy Brussel sprout starters, they're deceptively tasty and started off our meal on a high note. For the main course a had the Whole Grilled trout, a wonderfully fresh dish served with herb heirloom tomatoes, garlic young potatoes and grilled lemon. Stumbled on the Broadway Grill in downtown Burlingame and so glad we did! This restaurant was just amazing! We were quickly greeted by a friendly hostess who asked if we had a reservation, we didn't but she said no problem then asked if we wanted to dine inside or out, it was rather windy at the time so we chose inside and then she let us choose the table we liked best, which I really liked. The restaurant is quite large and was spotlessly clean and decorated wonderfully with a contemporary flair. You could smell the food cooking in the kitchen which was wonderful as it was just off to the left side and was open air, so the aromas of what the cooks were making filled the room. I also took notice of a blue & yellow ribbon tied around a vase of fresh flowers set at each table, symbolizing the Ukraine which I thought was a very nice tribute by the owners which didn't go unnoticed. I adore French Onion soup so when I saw it on the menu I immediately knew I would order it. Ron ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo w/ chicken and I ordered the Spinach Fettuccine with asparagus and heirloom tomatoes. I will tell you that traveling to Italy a number of times now, the Broadway Grill's got it down! The pasta tasted like it was homemade (so the restaurant can confirm this here if the wish) but I would swear it was. It was melt in your mouth good and even Ron, who I know now has been quite critical of American Italian restaurants, says nothing compares to dining in Italy. I will say that everything about this experience was sensational, however did notice that the overall bill was on the steep side, but considering the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, and the food quality, I din't mind. Went here with the gf. We got a garlic rye bread, french onion soup, squid ink pasta, burger, apple crumble. My gf also got the ginger ale and I got the vodka with blood orange soda. First off, the onion soup was great! Cheesy, and the onions were just right, and with the beef stew in the soup, the soup tasted more like a sauce, than soup. The garlic rye bread was soooo tasty. The cheese on top was great, and dipping the bread with the orange sauce that came with it, was even better. The squid ink pasta I got was okay; I liked how they gave me at least 7 pieces of shrimp, which was decent in size. The apple crumble was okay. Service was excellent. I appreciate the server where she engaged in conversation and was lively and complimenting my photography skills! Also other patrons nearby was pleasant with the servers positive energy too. Even though we were seated past closing time and the other employee also apologized multiple times sincerely that we couldn't order one more garlic rye bread Togo, since the kitchen fryer already was closed off, but he even made a suggestion for returning and see if we ordered even 10 minutes past closing time, then that appetizer might be possible to even make! The inside of the restaurant is super pretty, the menu offers a good variety, and the team is very friendly & professional! I organized an event there and the 15 guests were amazed! Especially because they accommodated the space & the menu to our needs! I went back many times to different times and occasions because they always make us feel comfortable! Restaurant ambiance was really nice. Learned it's located in the "old Burlingame" area vs the "new downtown" which was much easier to park at and much fewer people walking around. Restaurant has a really great rye bread appetizer. Which in hindsight is a statement I never thought I'd make but honestly it was really good and unique. They were cut like French fries and were so dank. Chefs kiss good. If you order it you won't want to share so get multiple :) Ordered the vegan spinach Alfredo pasta for dinner which was delicious. It appears to be the only vegan option but by no means was a consolation. It stood on its own feet like a proud real entree. I asked if they had tofu for protein and they said they only had beyond meat burger and offered to mix it into the pasta which was appreciated and also really good. DON'T BE SHY! TRY THE RYE! Last weekend I finally took my wife and daughter to BROADWAY GRILL for lunch and I have to say it was fantastic! While glancing at the breakfast/brunch menu I spotted an interesting entry. The Garlic Rye Bread. Sounds simple enough. Baked European rye bread strips, garlic, melted parmesan cheese and dill aioli. WOW! SOOO GOOD! A must if it's your first visit. We tried it with the soup of the day a delicious Red Pepper and Tomato. I had the Steak sandwich. Also delicious! House made Sangria and a cold Beer to wash everything down and an all around great experience. Prompt friendly staff and an owner that clearly has a passion for what she does. Thanks owner for responding to my complains. Want to call out that the owner might not have the correct memory. You said: "Customer above made reservation 10 minutes prior to arrival as staff check reservations prior to closing and there were no reservations at closing time (7pm). " This is incorrect. The reservation was made at 5:21pm the same day. Restaurant canceled our reservation at 7:18pm when we show up and refused to admit they canceled the reservation, blaming customer and Open Table for the reservation cancelation. Please refer to the pictures as proof. You said: "Staff tried to explain whole situation, but customer refused to listed and demanded to be served." Your staff blamed me for the reservation cancellation. I didn't demand to be served, I asked for an apology. You said: "We tried to explain everything and invite you back at any other time (and offering discount for your trouble), but that was not what customer wanted. They went on all platforms possible to share this experience to make sure that struggling business during the pandemic get bad review." You didn't offer discount for my trouble. I shared my experience because other customers deserve to know. I understand restaurant work is hard, and know you wanted a good review on yelp and google. Plus, your food is good too. If I were you, I would think more about why a long-time customer decided to never come to your restaurant any more despite of really loving your food? Came on a Sunday night. They have live music which was super fun and lively. Got the Brussel sprouts $12 which were crispy, nicely roasted. I also tried the French onion soup $10 based on other positive reviews. This was super flavorful, rich beefy onion soup with a submerged piece of bread at the bottom. A Fabulous Neighborhood Restaurant! Our birthday celebration at the Broadway Grill was a real treat! The setting is elegant; there was a great selection of appetizers, salads, entrees and desserts; and the servers were super attentive. Owner, Asta, also stopped by our table to wish us well. The Grill features live entertainment music on some evenings, and we were fortunate to be entertained by extremely talented vocalist Annemarie and her trio. She had a repertoire of over 100 songs for us to choose. Our birthday girl was thrilled to have Annemarie sing the birthday song for her! First time eating here and the last. I had a burger and fries ( $21 ). There was nothing special about it and on the small side. I had one beer which was okay, but what irritated me was there was about one and a half inches of beer still left in my glass, and the server was about to take it away. No no no. Let me finish it! I ordered a second beer and there was something at the bottom of the glass. Disgusting. My significant other had soup and a salad.
