I tell everyone about Broadway Heights and that they have to go to Chico just to have one of their sandwiches. They have the best bread in the world. Bread, to me, makes the sandwich. And it is the best. I love the Turkey Italiano and the Club is also quite tasty. They have the best soups. The tomato basil is by far the best I have ever tasted. They changed up their clam chowder, but still a hit out of the park. So please, if you have not eaten here, do so. You will regret that you didn't start sooner. read more

The bread is so good I could sleep on it... seriously. So soft, so fresh, so warm and good... My friend begged me to come here so many times and it just never occured to me since I was pretty satisfied with my daily slice of Celestino's but when I did I wished I had been more than just twice in my whole four-year-college-career at Chico... The last couple of times we went it was mediocre, but we thought we'd give it another shot since at one time it was WAY better. Had Tomato Basil soup, a Caesar, and the Mahi w/rice, veggies and mashed potatoes. Soup tasted like it came out of a can, salad was bad, and the entrees were luke warm and had zero flavor. It tasted like the lunch lady at the school cafeteria made our dinner and put it under a heat lamp until we got there. If I didn't know any better I would have thought it came from Hometown Buffet. Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Chico! The food is consistently great across the board. Every sandwich I've had has been amazing and the tomato soup is the best I've have ever had. The greatest thing about Broadway Heights is that its great food in a casual and fairly inexpensive restaurant. Normally I would expect to pay more for cuisine of this quality. Best.Sandwiches.Ever. I like the California, and the BLTA. This is the type of place where you like all they have to offer, but once you found YOUR sandwich that's all you will end up eating every time you go back. Other things I love about this place: 1) Their raspberry lemonade (always adorned with a mint sprig) 2) Eating during farmers market in the summer and people-watching all the weirdos. 3) The pirate chef 4) The oh-so-amazing artichoke heart-spinach dip with their foccacia bread. Had lunch here today with a big group and I was pleasantly surprised... the only problem was that everything everyone else got looked so good that it made me second guess getting what I got =( For apps we got the cheese torte and the spinach artichoke dip... only regret is that there wasn't enough to go around.. not a portion problem- just that we didn't order enough! Most everyone got sandwiches, I think there were a couple salads in the mix as well. The Salads looked ENORMOUS and the sandwiches were really big as well. I got the California which is sprouts and cheese cucumber and some other veggie goodness with a yummy dijon... a few tried the cyclone, another the chicken pesto... I don't think anyone was disappointed. We also decided to get a little bit of dessert... as if we weren't full enough, but we ended up getting a lava cake, fudge cake, and the tiramisu to pass around the table for a couple bites. I can't say I was a fan of the lava and fudge cake (the others were) but the tiramisu was AMAZING. I don't come here that often, but there are a few memorable things about their food.... -The focaccia bread is delish. It's fluffy and crispy and makes everything on the menu taste 200 percent better than if it were on some generic french bread. I love getting the sandwiches and eating them open-faced, then dipping the leftover bread in the tomato soup.... -...which leads me to the tomato soup. Simple but yummy. Mmmm. I haven't had a tomato soup that tops this yet. -I forget exactly what it's called, but it's the appetizer sundried tomato torte thingamajig. I had it once a long time ago and remember loveloving it. I'm not a big appetizer person, though, which is why I haven't had it since. Although the food is yummy, there are a few downers.... -I always get a half sandwich and the tomato soup now because one time I made the mistake of getting the soup and salad and it was bland. I have never had a salad that tasted more like grass (not even real grass, the kind you use to fill Easter baskets) than that one. There goes me trying to be healthier... -The service is lacking. The restaurant setup might possibly be an explanation (it's divided by an "inside" and "outside", with the "outside" still being indoors), but most of the servers I've had seemed uninterested and inattentive. -Kinda pricey for what you get, but, still not "that" expensive. -Takes FOREVER to get your food, even when there's no one else in the restaurant. But, I'd rather wait a few more minutes for crisp focaccia bread because that crunchy texture makes it sooo worth it. read more

The waiter recommended to add on the spicy mayo and it was delicious. The service was quick and efficient. I was really happy with my sandwich and soup. Numero uno sandwich in Chico. Hands down. I spent 4.5 years in Chico, dined out 10+ times per week and they got my dough at least 3-5 times PER WEEK. Why not 5 stars? For the kind of restaurant they're trying to be (swanky jazz playing, great service/presentation, fresh ingredients and INCREDIBLE sauces), you absolutely cannot--under any circumstances--charge for a "side of sauce". Ranch, BBQ, or whatever other incredible offering they have (Blue Cheese/Cesar--hands down best in Chico/Garlic Parmesan), I think it's quite distasteful. Apps: SPINACH DIP---I refuse to order spinach dip from any other establishment. EVER. Trust me, you'll be converted too. Entree: Now, if you love garlic: Turkey Italiano with 2 sides of Gar Parm (one container for each half of the sandwich!). Sauce runs down your hands, but it's a TBO (taste bud orgasm). The atmosphere is just hokey. Old tables and chairs. Chipped plastic glasses. It could be so nice but the effort just isn't there. The food is their redeeming quality. The tomato soup is wonderful. I have been here 3 times now and really like their focaccia sandwiches. The Thai Chicken sandwich is off the hook. Try their pasta salad as your side dish - you'll thank me later. I have also tasted their Greek salad, which has fresh spinach, feta cheese, olives and rice pilaf - yum. In the summer, they have strawberry shortcake that is house-made and is like a party in your mouth! The building that it is in (Phoenix Building) is historic and is built of brick, which is exposed on the interior walls. This upstairs restaurant affords a nice view of Broadway and W 3rd Streets that you can enjoy as you dine (there is an elevator). Easy parking in the garage right behind the building. The sauce is soooo good, a little spicy and sooo savory! I've had the pleasure of enjoying several meals at Broadway heights, each savory. Prosciutto Caesar salad is perfectly peppery + pairs so nicely with any of their brick oven baked pizzas. The lofty location hosts comfortable natural sunlight, and the building itself has a character all it's own. The only reason I hesitate to give Broadway a five star rating is due entirely to their wait staff; I hope to be clear in that I've never been treated poorly, though I also haven't felt that my business was of any urgency either. The last waitress who waited on my seemed borderline annoyed by the questions I'd asked, questions such as, "how large are your pizzas?" Thank you, Yelpers, for a great suggestion. The atmosphere is very chill, and the upper-story setting makes for some excellent people watching during your meal. We started out with Spicy Thai wedges, which are basically Broadway Heights' fennel pizza crusts cut six ways and served with some light toppings and a delicious Sriracha-based sauce. It was an appropriate portion, and very tasty. For our early dinner, my girlfriend got the prosciutto Caesar salad, and I ordered the Thai prawn salad. I can't speak to the Caesar salad, though my girlfriend really seemed to enjoy it. The prawn salad was a large portion of greens with a unique, and very enjoyable, vinaigrette. The medium size prawns were well-cooked, juicy, and spiced well. The dash of sesame seeds was a great addition. Our server Adam facilitated the whole affair perfectly, being neither too present, nor too distant. He was on top of refills for both water and iced tea, and he was very professional. I look forward to eating here again! One note: We dined in the main dining room in the late afternoon, and did notice only one of the very large windows is equipped with a blinder. It didn't affect our experience, but it may be helpful for others to know ahead of time that the late afternoon sun could be an issue. read more

So let me start off with the food - I ordered the avocado and turkey with a Caesar salad. The food was amazing, the bread really sold the whole meal for me and not to mention the portions were huge! The meal was about 12 ish bucks but like I said the sandwich fit the price, but you can order a half if you like which is also cheaper. Now to the service - the waitress kind of disappeared and didn't really bother to even fill our water cups up more than once during our whole meal. I don't know if it's because we had 2 children (well behaved children) that she just didn't care about our table but we did watch others who came after us receive their food and drink orders before us. We were sat in a far corner too which felt a little off. She just seemed snotty and had a natural bitch face to her that matched her attitude; sorry but a bad attitude is a bad attitude! It almost felt as if we bothered her buy asking for water or more napkins...simple things that if you're a waitress you should be use to hearing. I went here for lunch with my husband. I ordered the turkey club without mayo or mustard. It came out with both.The staff was really nice about fixing it, and very quick. It was so big I couldnt bite it without the whole thing falling apart. I only managed to eat a quarter of it. Not bad, but for a 10 dollar sandwich I wish it had been amazing. I left feeling like a chump. The views of Chico were rather pretty, so I am rather tempted to come back another time and split a sandwich with my husband. Broadway Heights is probably my favorite restaurant in all of Chico. I've been coming here since it was called Jasco's. The turkey avocado is my favorite sandwich. Their main dining area is cool because it overlooks Broadway Street. If you're lucky you can sit near a window and people watch. The staff are very and professional. There's a convenient parking garage right behind the building. On the weekend parking is free. Broadway Heights is also conveniently located right above Jon & Bons Yogurt Shoppe. :) read more

We have been patrons of this restaurant for YEARS. The food is exceptional every time. My favorite by far is the ceaser salad with prosciutto AHHHMZAINGGGG!! Tonight I felt compelled to write a review though because our service was above and beyond. Bayleigh went out of her way. She was very busy as tonight we have our sweet hometown parade and she still took the time to listen to each of my 3(!) children's special requests. I always take my picky eaters here! They do substitutions for everything and they're always super nice about dietary restrictions. They have local art hung up all through the dinning room which is nice. It always feels kind of cozy there. I always get a soup and sandwich! So yummy! The bathroom situation is odd. First off I'd like to say that I have been coming to Broadway Heights for years now, actually I've been eating there since it was just Jascos. Broadway Heights has evolved from a little pizza/sandwich shop to a beautiful restaurant where you can have an amazing dinner. They have created a dinner menu that is as good if not better then any of the upper end restaurants in Chico. I was very satisfied with the quality of the food, the quality of the service, and the cleanliness of the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and made us feel we were her only table. She took care of us from the second we came in until we were walking out the door. As for what I ate, I have been getting the ribs lately and they are to die for. WOW!! They're amazing! The mashed potatoes, and mixed cheesy veggies are excellent too and are making my mouth water just thinking about dipping them in the extra barbaque sauce. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT!! I really, really like this place. The only problem is that so does everyone else in Chico. Going there usually takes 2-2.5 hours. I tried to go there on my 1 hour lunch break once and was horribly, terribly late getting back to the office. I now only go when I know I have a good chunk of time. The food is delish. Fresh bread, yummy sandwiches, and okay-ish service. As I said, it takes forever, but that seems to be the kitchen, not the waiters. Great food! You can order directly on their website and pick up (they're upstairs at 300 Broadway). Staff was so friendly at pick up! I got the roasted veggie sandwich with a side salad. Salad was very fresh and crispy and sandwich was delicious on focaccia bread. The garlic aioli included is to die for. I am looking forward to trying more items on their menu.
