Love the place, our waiter Goose was awesome and recommend pastrami which the in-laws loved. He was also so on top of it with the drinks you couldn't be thirsty if you wanted to. I never go here enough, but their focaccia sandwiches are some of the most delicious "fancy" sandwiches I've ever had. Moroccan chicken, chicken ranch, spicy turkey - are all AMAZING! Their Caesar salad is also one of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is very laid back and somewhat hidden, which always makes me feel as if it's a true hidden gem. Came here because I "yelped" salads and this came up. Was in a rush and didn't want to spend too much time looking for a place to eat. Was a little weary at first, since it was a 4.2. I have to say this place has some of the best sandwiches I have ever had, seriously, just WOW!! The focaccia bread was so fresh and the veggies were grilled to perfection (I had the roasted veggie sandwich that includes artichokes and mushrooms and cheese). Oh, and how could I forget! Their Caesar salad is unlike anywhere I have ever had, huge healthy portion with a delicious dressing and plenty of homemade focaccia bread croutons plus freshly grated Parmesan cheese! I don't know why I always had a feeling that I wouldn't like the food there. Can't explain why I felt that way. So, when my luncheon group decided to eat there, I was not looking forward to it. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew that those negative feelings were bogus. There were a lot of items on the menu that appealed to me. But then I saw it. Any of their individual pizzas could be converted to a calzone! I loved calzones when I lived in NYC for a couple of years, but when I came home to California, I was never able to find a calzone that equaled those in NY. I ordered the veggie calzone and I was not disappointed. It was delicious! Everything was perfect. The bread of the calzone was delicious, moist and yeasty. I am waiting for delivery of another calzone for my lunch as I write this! It will probably also be dinner. Edit: They delivered a pizza, instead of a calzone. The receipt plainly stated "Make into a calzone". I tried to call to notify them and the rings timed out, unanswered, twice. The third time, someone answered and confirmed that I should have received a calzone, but that they made a pizza instead. He then instructed me to "not touch" the pizza and put it outside for the driver to pick up when he delivered the correct order. That took me aback. Usually, when a food establishment makes a mistake, they allow you to keep the incorrect product because of the inconvenience. It bothered me that the food would most likely be thrown out. What a waste. I was starving by that point! I took away one star because of this experience, but I still recommend Broadway Heights. read more

Stopped in on Thursday with my friend around 1:30pm for a late lunch. The restuarant sits a floor up from the city street and it's slightly tucked away inside one of those city plaza buildings on the corner of Broadway. You would probably pass right by this place in the daytime because the sign is only lit up at night but i had eventually found it. We were greeted fairly quickly and sat at a table overlooking the street. I had ordered a Tropical Heights and the Toasted Garlic Focaccia Cheese Bread to start. We ordered the Pesto Chicken Alfredo Pizza as our meal. I had put this entire order in together and did need some additional time at first to look at the menu. Maybe us taking awhile to choose made everything come out together but they brought it all out at once. Generally, the timing of the food doesn't always irritate me so I wasn't worried about it. I will say for the price of the food in my opinion it just wasn't worth it. They had a very extensive list of sandwiches and pizzas. I think each option took up nearly an entire menu page. Didn't think of this as one of those places that specialized in sandwiches and pizza but both of the things I ordered were indeed good. Just good though, not overally amazing in which the 8-10" pizza for $20 would be worth it. I feel like I was stuck in the late 70's or 80's the way the carpet and decor was still presenting itself. Honestly, this place has outstanding reviews and wanted to go out to a slightly "nicer" place, didn't expect overly too much but probably had a slightly bigger expectation of this establishment in my head. Especially when the prices were gearing you up for something that will come out plated maybe a bit more fancy than usual. So I just wanted to write an honest review (As I always do) but maybe I will visit again and try something different other than a unique pizza option. I also thought it was interesting that the pizza came out on a blue regular size kitchen plate. I think I have the exact same one at my house if were being honest. And theI've worked food my whole life and I like trying out new restuarants; I always try to give the benefit of the doubt to everyone working there. I think this guy has prime real estate in Chico and he should re-vamp a few things in terms of how it looks in there and make it more up to date and then the prices would be justified. Such an odd place. You walk upstairs into some small building and book there's a restaurant. We only came in for drinks and appetizers because the vibes were so weird. They only serve wine, champagne, some beer and Korean vodka; such a limited selection for the area. Everything about this place is odd, but the hostess was such a sweetheart. Food was good, but it took a long time to come out (almost an hour wait). We were a party of six, however, there were three other tables in the seating area that were occupied; the rest were empty. After waiting a while, we politely asked if our food was almost ready, and our waitress admitted our food was ready a short time ago, but they became very busy with a larger party that came in and got distracted. They brought our food out almost immediately after asking to check on it. My sandwich was still nice and warm, so I don't think it was sitting on the counter long (I got the Spicy Italiano - very good!). Part of me wonders that if we never asked where our food was if they would have ever brought it out, but nonetheless, it was delicious! read more

5 stars for five reasons. 1. The food was amazing. I ordered the Almond Chicken Salad sandwich (it was the special of the day) and I've never had anything like it. The focaccia bread they use is toasted perfectly just around the edges and soft in the middle. You can tell it's fresh. The Almond Chicken Salad was so moist and made with actual little slices of almonds! For a side I got the roasted garlic tomato soup. It was creamy and with the fresh ground pepper it was amazing. 2. The atmosphere. Brick walls, high ceilings, and windows overlooking downtown Chico. I was sat at a table right next to a window that overlooked Broadway street. The whole place has the best local vibe. 3. The service. Super friendly, super attentive, and they were always refilling my drink. 4. Pricing. Pretty reasonable for their portion sizes! I very rarely leave a negative review, but it's either this, or march to the store, buy the supplies to make edible Mac & cheese, prepare said food, and throw it at the 'chef' in the hopes some of it makes it into their mouth. Everything I have ever eaten there was mediocre diner food for three times the money. The food at this restaurant is so poorly executed even Gordon Ramsay wouldn't attempt to turn it around. Never again. Update in response to MR. Scott S. I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America at Hyde Park, Napa with honors. I served as Sous-Chef in San Francisco at Alta Plaza, Elka's, Mission, and the Elite Cafe. I moved to Chico 7 years ago to get out of the crowds. I kept trying your restaurant because I was trying to give you a chance. I completely understand that a kitchen could have an off night. I didn't speak to the wait staff at the time because my dissatisfaction festered for a few days. Granted, my dissatisfaction culminated through other Chico establishments, and it's unfortunate that you are the last straw. That said: Someone should figure out where your chef went to culinary school, drive over as quickly as possible, rescue the students from the building, and weld the doors shut with the faculty still inside. That way we can all watch as each one prepares the first one to die in order to survive. This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in town (coming from a local). Located on the second story of the beautiful and historic Phoenix Building in downtown Chico, Broadway Heights offers delicious food, great service and a lovely ambiance. A visit here includes a bird's eye view of downtown as well as plenty of art on the brick walls. As a vegetarian, my favorite items are the salad, pizza, tomato soup and Focaccia bread. Try to save room for the decadent dessert, and if you can't, order some to go for later! I've had many date nights and casual lunches here and I hope to enjoy for many years to come! Kind a like my little secret spot that I since At first time I found myself up the stairs and being seated what is first of all totally obsessed with the unlike any other location incredible Broadway Heights view overlooking the center i'm downtown Chico so that as I said alone had me feeling a very wonderful way and I had no idea what was yet to come I had ordered a Ruben which was incredibly satisfying and has never not satisfied me as to this day is my main dish when visiting this divine and beautiful unique restaurant I personally think it is best when visiting it at the lunch hour for some reason it just has the best five at that time it's almost like you feel like you are back in there 50s you can smell the old building smell upon first entering downstairs but also a strong and absolutely delish ice cream shop aroma as below Broadway heights on the 1floor is in my opinion one of Chico's most incredible ice cream shops so highly recommend stopping in particularly at lunch and I'm absolutely confident that you won't regret your decision one bit, happy eating!!
