Waited 10 minutes at the bar to place my drink order, only to be told to go ahead and find a table and someone would be there shortly to help me. After waiting for 20 min for someone to come, I left. I get it all restaurants are recovering from the COVID scam. After a two year hiatus from bike night I returned 5/12/22. A friend was already there for a while and had not had anyone say a word to him. We hadn't talked for a long time so we had some catching up to do. 20 minutes later I realized we still hadn't seen anyone and one in our group went inside to make sure they were serving outside. The bartender gave him menus and confirmed they were serving on the patio and said she'd get a server out there. I had already decided that at the 30 minute point I was leaving. During this time a server came and went to the opposite end of the outdoor seating. Looked our way but never came by. I know it was 30 minutes because I received a text right when I sat down. So I leave and go to Puchini's a couple of miles away in Carmel also. I get a text from the friend I left there as my server at Puccini's was taking my order. He said the server was just taking their order and he had his fingers crossed. I can count on one hand the number of bad reviews I've posted. This is the place to be on St. Patrick's Day! As an Irish Pub, they not only provided the Guinness beer and a variety of other green beers, but they also provided Irish food, including Irish potatoes and Shepherds pie, which was delicious! To top that off, they played traditional Irish folk music which made for a fun atmosphere to dance to. Thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will definitely return again soon! read more

They have a draft table where you pour your own beer. In Indiana, that is rare. This may, in fact, be unique to the state. Not sure, but they did tell me that. In Ireland, this concept is ubiquitous. I remember enjoying this at Clancy's in downtown Cork after the barman let me pour my own pint of Beamish (Cork's very own stout, better than Guinness) and keep the glass! Coming here reminds me of my pub crawl in Cork, for it was a fantastic time with pubs that often looked like this, though a bit less "Industrial Dublin." The draft system is not hyped enough. This is SERIOUSLY some of the BEST beer poured in the state. The Guinness is a marshmallow cloud that takes you on a journey over the rolling, verdant hills making one content as a lamb on a high meadow. Oh, check out their awards atop the shelving. Voted the best pint of the black stuff in North America by Guinness the company itself. Guinness actually cancelled future contests due to the domination of this pub in Indy's own backyard. Other awards include best pint in Indy, best burger by ESPN and Indy's only 5 star rated fish and chips. (Right up there with 9 Irish Brothers in Lafayette, IN) They rock the local beer and craft beer and the owner has his own brew venture called Danny Boy Beer Works that is sometimes available. It is tasty and I can't wait to try more from this once it is in full swing. Nice Irish whiskey selection as well. Midleton Irish Whiskey will ravage you with its perfection. Service has been great at times and meh at times. Don't go on St. Paddy's Day for it is chaos and getting a drink can be a chore. Irish sessions and other live music is to be had. read more

I had a pretty good time at the Brockaway Public House. Although, it was a bit surreal. There were some high points, and some low points, but overall I had a good time. But wait, maybe I should 'splain... If you check out my review for the Stacked Pickle, you'll see that I was there with a drinking buddy who was looking to score. Well, he ditched me at Stacked Pickle for a ladyfriend, and so I wandered down to Brockaway Public House for a pint. It wasn't early when I got there, but it wasn't way late, either. Upon entering the establishment, there was a large group of folks in the 40-60 age range sitting at a big table and they had obviously been partying for a while. One of them, a rather portly guy, was wearing a small crown on his head. No one else at the table had any sort of costume or regalia on, and no one was shouting "Happy Birthday!" or "Long Live the King!" - he just had a cheap, plastic crown on his head. I noted this, but having lived for six years in Athens, GA, this was nothing. I made my way to the bar, and sat about one seat away from another guy, and more or less in front of the taps. There were two or three bartenders (mostly female if I recall) and I got the impression that one or both of the bartenders were a bit hammered. One young lady spied me, asked what I wanted to drink, and I ordered a Guinness. She rang it up, but then she disappeared - I mean, was gone for a while. I watched the other bartender make the Guinness, and then my beer sat there. For a while. Finally the guy who made it said, "who's Guinness is this?" and I said "I reckon that's mine, but the young lady who took my order is gone." He nodded and slid it to me. I drank three pints of Guinness while surveying my surroundings. Drunken older crowd up front with crown; table of six women and two men in back, all hammered, and guys obviously looking like they macked on a "girls' night out" crew. The guy that was one seat away from me also seemed to know a guy who was one seat away from him, at the end of the bar. Suddenly, one of the women from the "girls' night" table stalks up to the guy near me, and starts whispering fiercely in his ear. I get this vague sense that they are a couple, and it is clear from their fevered whispering that they are more than friends -- there is some jealousy on the wind, it seems. Angry girls' night out girl wanders off, and I kind of glance at the guy next to me, because I've just heard a healthy dose of his business. He smiles and shrugs, and introduces himself, and we chat for a second. He finds out I'm a college instructor, and he reveals he's a Ph.D. in Microbiology (or something very scientific) and I guess he works for one of the large pharmaceutical firms and he confirms he does but won't name which one, etc. We talk geeky academic stuff for a few minutes, and then my phone rings. Remember the drinking buddy who left me at Stacked Pickle with a ladyfriend? Yeah, he's calling. Ladyfriend is psycho - is hot for him, but won't go to her place (her ex is watching the house, she claims) and won't go to a hotel room (she knows all the front desk people and they'll tell her co-workers, or maybe her mom...), and so after making out in the car with her, he tells her this is ridiculous, and kicks her to the curb. So now he's calling me to see if I'm still out and drinking. So, he joins me at the bar. Before he joins me, there is this other guy about three seats down to my right, and he is clearly friends with the bar staff and good buddies with one of the female bartenders. I quietly drink more Guinness while waiting on my friend. He arrives. We switch to liquor. Microscientist dude has started talking in earnest with the guy at the end of the bar, and I more or less figure out that girls' night out crew got crashed by some or all of their boyfriends, and these dudes at the table sort of moved in on the drama trying to pick up some angry chicks, and the guys at the bar were trying to act like they didn't care. Yeah, I thought I was in a grown-up bar, too, but apparently it was "act like you're in high school night." Did I mention that these people had to be in their 30s? Did I mention the plastic crown? Yeah, okay, just checking. Anyhow, me and my buddy are drinking liquor and he's telling me about crazy, paranoid ladyfriend. We are officially drunk at this point. The guy who is three stools down and knows the bar staff kind of chimes in on our conversation, and begins to chat with us. All I can recall at this point is that this guy cannot be for real. If I remember correctly, and I'm not sure I do, he was ex-military special forces, a medical doctor, had been blown up or shot on his tour of duty, and maybe saved a bus load of orphans from a meteor strike, one-handed. At this point, my drinking buddy and I look at each other, bust out laughing, pay our tab and just leave. The Brockaway Public House? Such a cute Irish pub! Honestly, Carmel would usually be the last place I looked for a chill pub to grab a drink and "just hang out." A good friend of mine took me here to celebrate St. Patty's Day and I must say, I was very pleased. The drink menu was spot on and their fish and chips -- um, they just might be the best. SO GOOD. And I mean - so good. The pub is laid out in a way that most of the seating can be intimate. They have several tables tucked away in nooks and crannies. I loved the layout. Our service was great and the pricing made sense. All in all, a great pub experience in Carmel. Cool little pub with good food and their own locally brewed beer. They sell Danny Boy Beer Works on tap, a local brewery I had never heard of that they're associated with. What they do great: food! We got the hummus plate and fish and chips. The pita chips that came with the hummus were warm from having been recently fried (so we're not talking out of a bag/box chips) and the hummus was delicious. The fish and fries were all very yum. Not a fan of their homemade pickle sauce, but they serve it with house malt vinegar and ketchup, your bound to like one of the three! My wife and I bother ordered the Day Drinker IPA. Think if Stella decided to cross dress as an IPA. That's the Day Drinker. Light, refreshing, slightly hoppy, yum. The ambience is dark, comfy, and maybe just a tad too sticky for my liking. OK, Summary first. Do you like pubs? Pub food? OK, this is the place to go! Now for the adventure. It was a long day. I won't go into how bad work went... Just in case the boss reads this. He doesn't need to know. Anyway, I got it all fixed, about 3 hours after my planned stop time. Get to the hotel and hit up Yelp for close places to eat. I'm tired, it's late. I found a place close by. New to the area so I'm looking for close. Seems the roads were closed at the roundabout. Bummer. So a U-turn later I finally find the spot I picked. Oops. It's a hotel restaurant. OK, probably fine, but not what I'm looking for. So I turn around and head back down the road. I see this place on the corner that looks good and pull into the next road. WAIT!! Here's an Irish Pub. Hmmm... Sounds right. No point in going back to the place I saw. So I park and walk in. Not too busy. Seat yourself kind of place. That's cool. I grab the bar. Now for the meat of it. Good pub menu. Burgers, salads, good appetizers. I had the Fish and Chips and a pint of their Mac Daddy Ale (I think that's right). The food was hot, and great. The brew was excellent. Now there's more. I hear some music. Turns out there's a group of Irish guys drop by and play tunes in exchange for food and/or beer. Real Irish feel to the place. The barkeep Michael was super. Attentive, good attitude. Good conversation when appropriate. So all in all, I look for a place that makes me feel at home when I'm out of town. This place gets five stars from me simply for being independently owned and looking like a professional and well decorated chain restaurant. That and they have the best draft beer I have ever had in my life. Do yourself a favor if you like beer, go get a pint of Belhaven Scottish Ale from Brockway. The bartenders were cool cats that were very talkative and politely answered all my questions, and trust me, when I go someplace new, I have a ton of them. I can't speak to the food as of yet but I certainly will be stopping in for some grub soon. Very comfortable bar and restaurant. I didn't eat but rather stopped to get a fix of Alpha King. They have an excellent variety of craft beers on tap. The bartenders were very friendly and attentive to service. Cozy place for a pint and quality pub food. My husband and I enjoy a pub atmosphere - this one's an upscale Dublin mode. Love the roomy booths for groups, but seating isn't comfy: think wooden church pews. Maybe it's so we won't nap after our Perfect Pints. We've eaten more pub food than a person should and it's clear that Brockway has a chef on staff, not a linecook. Pub food tends to be limited in variety, but we choose Brockway's because it's high quality pub food done perfectly. The Shepherd's Pie is "done up proper" with lamb. The Fish & Chips (steak fries to non-Dubliners) are the best because the breading to fish ratio is balanced. No sogginess, no extra breading to toss, just crunch into flaky whitefish. Celtic rings are a mountain of crispy, featherweight breaded onions. Homemade potato soup's tasty, not pasty like other places. Haven't made it here for a late evening or game day with the crew, yet. Did enjoy ogling the high-end motorcycle show with my Harp in hand, though. read more

Went solo on a Saturday evening - big stretch limo double parked in front, passel of formally dressed early twenty-somethings having a brew inside before heading off somewhere for more fun. More waitstaff than customers when I got there, took a seat in the bar area and was greeted immediately by a kilt wearing young male server, who very efficiently took my drink order (had a Ranger IPA, which was just dandy). I ordered the fish and chips based on other Yelp reviews. It was about the best fish/coating combo I have had here in the Indy area; three very nice perfectly cooked whitefish fillets, just the right amount of greasy. The chips were plentiful, if not distinguished, also properly cooked. As others have said, the place was quite loud, even with the small-to-moderate sized crowd present. I think the noise and the other negative, the lack of any cushioned seating, have a positive correlation (my butt is still sore - this is not a place I could sit for a lot of drinks without being pretty blitzed already). In the end, I would say the personnel at the restaurant were quite efficient, and also very friendly to regulars or those of the proper demographic - old farts such as myself are treated fine, but still feel like outsiders. read more

Nice authentically themed Irish pub place right off of the Main St.-Meridian intersection in Carmel. Great atmosphere for just hanging out (a family member and I met here for lunch to catch up) or watching sports -- there are a good number of TVs. I could see stopping by here on a Sunday afternoon to watch some NFL action. Good selection of beers and hard ciders, including Harp (my old Irish standby) and Guinness, of course. The food is your typical Irish pub fare but I went with a cheddar cheeseburger and streak fries, which was very satisfying. My sister had the fish and chips, which looked good enough that I think I'll try it the next time I visit. The menu also offers dishes such as Shepherd's Pie and Boxty. Plenty of outdoor seating for the warmer months, too, and parking is plentiful behind the building. Great place with good service.... highly recommended and I'll be back. read more

I only live a few miles from here so it makes for an easy stop or takeout. The menu is small and I must say I really haven't tried anything other than the fish and chips. My wife always gets the salmon which she says is good. The Beer Battered Fried Cod is outstanding and so is the Guinness! I recommend these to anyone who longs for real Fish and Chips at Less than $10.00. I have been coming here on Fridays after work with friends who work nearby. We always have a great time. The beer selection rotates, which is nice. They offer Hendrick's gin, which is the best gin I have ever tasted. It makes one smooth G & T. Recently, we noticed their was a Menage A Trois bottle wine special on Friday nights. A bottle of decent red wine for $10 at a bar? We'll take it! Food-wise, they have very tasty food that helps sop up some of that booze. So i've been to not a few Irish pubs in Ireland and all over the world... Indianapolis certainly rates having decent Irish pubs---but in a posh strip mall? Well, the first time I cam here, they were having an honest to goodness wake. There was a buffet and musicians. Very surprising to see this in Indy! (No, the body wasn't there---there is only so much authenticity that the Indiana Dept. of Health will allow) They have standard pub fare here and a good selection of Irish and local beers. My Yellow Rickshaw made the last visit worthwhile. Service is never very fast there, but last night was even worse. We had to ask for our Guinness twice before they even started them. I know it should take a tick over 2 minutes to get a properly poured Guiness and they do it right there, but at least start them when they are ordered. I noticed one of the servers just kind of pushing people out of his way without so much as an "excuse me" and he never smiled.. the quality of their beer and whiskey selection keeps me going back. Let's start with my biggest problem: this place is too far from my house. I'd love to spend more time here. It has a great Irish public house vibe. The food is both pub and Irish. Of course, the beer selection is great if you like the Irish classics. I was lucky enough to be part of an event using the Guinness Perfect Pint Pouring table in the back room. This room includes a table that seats 6-8 with a tap for Guinness and a tap for Bass. It's fun to practice pouring a great pint of Guinness, and you never even have to leave your seat. read more

Brockway Pub - At the bar - Pubs Near Me - Carmel, Indiana

The Brockway Public House seems out of place for the surrounding neighborhood, but we liked it enough to go twice on successive visits to the Indianapolis area. It probably helped that it was within walking distance of our hotel both times. It looks like a classic Irish pub on the inside with a few modern touches. Prices were reasonable. The good: One of the best Guinness pours in the U.S. If you don't want Guinness, a good selection of local beers on tap Fish and chips are amazing The not so good...but in all honesty, they are nitpicky: Service can be slow but we would classify it as relaxed and unhurried. The view from the windows and/or outdoor seating leaves something to be desired, as you find yourself staring at Meijer across the street. Why did they have the windows open in 90-degree weather??? We definitely hope to pay a return visit...for the Guinness if nothing else. read more

It's an Irish-style pub with the decor, ambience, and menu you would expect. Located in wealthy Carmel in a strip mall, but that feel disappears inside. It looks comfy and established with lots of dark wood, wall items to look at, and several comfy eating nooks that give a feel of privacy to your space. Could be bigger, but I liked the coziness. Fish 'n chips were tasty! Liked the large chunks of flaky fish and beer-style breading was light and nice. Hubby had great Cobb salad, nice and crisp. Guinness and my cocktail were nicely done. Service was surprisingly friendly for Carmel and we felt truly welcomed, which I love! I finally got to check this place out thanks to my friend at DO317 who I won $50 worth of gift cards from. We decided to go on a Sunday evening after the Thanksgiving holiday. While they weren't busy, it looked like the aftershock of their major Holiday bash a few days prior had still not subsided. My initial impression was that this was more of a place to drink (a lot at that) rather than dine. The exterior and interior was lined with dozens upon dozens of empty kegs from the event that week. The table we sat at was filthy to start and food service was incredibly slow. Our serve brought out our appetizer and then a few minutes later brought out my partners main course but not my sandwich. He didn't mention anything about my dinner so I patiently waited. Eventually i flagged him down and asked about my Ruben. He said he needed to check and when he came back, informed me he forgot to 'push send' on my sandwich order so it just went in. No sorry, no attempt to accommodate or anything, just a woopsie!! We weren't in a hurry and my boyfriend was kind enough to share so we just shook it off. No discount or comp to our bill but since I was paying with gifted cards it didn't bother me. The Fish in the Fish and Chips were greasy and slightly burnt. I really liked the dill tarter sauce. My Ruben was seeping in grease but was otherwise flavorful and had a good crunch. My boyfriend was super impressed with the beer selection and quality of his brew. Our only observation was that several of the wait staff, bartenders and kitchen staff were constantly running outside for a cigarette. We were seated near the door so noticed this more than others might. Even when we left there were 4 employees out right by the front door smoking. My boyfriend and I left joking that it must have been one hell of a party earlier in the week to go through that many kegs and to leave the employees reaching for a cigarette every 10 min.
