Open at 9! It was a cool evening in Bandon and we were craving some hot food. We saw this place was open lateish and had vegetarian options. We got the tofu dish and the veg chow mien. I loved that they give a pot of complimentary hot tea in the beginning. So needed in Bandon weather! The food was huge a portion and yet we finished it all. Worse Chinese meal I have ever had and I have had some bad ones. Vegetables and meat must have been cooked a week ago. My grandson had Chow Mein and said it was uneatable. This was my second time. Stopped by to grab some takeout dinner on a Friday night as my friend and I were traveling through. Stepping through the doors, I was completely taken by surprise. It definitely looked and felt more like a lounge than a Chinese restaurant! There's a bar, a couple of pool tables, and even some slot machines in the corner. My friend and I ordered two combo dinners since it seemed the easiest. We got the house special ($13.50) which comes with fried shrimp, bbq pork, pork fried rice, pork chow mein, and sweet & sour pork, as well as combo #8 ($15), which has fried shrimp, beef broccoli, and pork fried rice. The food was ready in ~20 minutes or so. Everything was packaged nicely in small to go containers and fit snugly in the paper bag. We ate the food in the car on the way, as we were rushing to get to our accommodations for the night. My favorites were the fried shrimp (nice and crispy!) and the beef broccoli (beef was very tender). The fried rice wasn't bad as well. The only complaint I have about this meal with the pork "chow mein", which we thought were going to be stir fried noodles but was actually small noodle bits deep fried until they were crispy. We were warned... but of course, we didn't listen. Curiosity (and hunger) got the better of us, so we tried this place for takeout while visiting Bandon. Big mistake. The alarm bells started ringing the second we opened the bags at home. We ordered the classics: pork fried rice, wonton soup, beef and broccoli, and lo mein. Easy, right? What could go wrong? First off, the prices were outrageous for what we got. The pork fried rice was basically a bucket of plain rice with two lonely pork cubes tossed on top like garnish. The beef and broccoli? Imagine something so fatty it had already congealed by the time we got home, and then imagine it tasting sour. Sour. Beef. And. Broccoli. I still have questions. The wonton soup was just hot water with a few sad dumplings floating around like they'd been trapped in there since morning. The wontons themselves had the texture of wet socks, basically dough balls that disintegrated on bite. We powered through a few bites, but let's just say... food poisoning made a surprise guest appearance. It's been years since I've had it, but it chose the grand finale of our trip to make a comeback. It absolutely wrecked our last evening and day in Bandon.Should've listened to the locals. Should've trusted my nose when I walked in and it smelled like old fish. Should've taken a hint when the only other patrons were about a hundred years old, reminiscing about the Vietnam War over egg rolls. Moral of the story. Steer clear!! Learn from our mistake. I loved this place! All of our food was amazing and the veggies tasted very fresh. The coconut shrimp was unlike any I've seen before and has this amazing sweet sauce on top. The people let us in 5 minutes before they closed which was so nice. Also the tea we got when we sat down was probably the best tea I've ever had it was so good I didn't even need to put any sugar in it when I usually do. They have a lot of seating but we were the only ones there because it was very late but yeah it's a really nice place they got some music going and I hope I can go back! read more

I live near San Francisco and frequently eat Chinese food. Since this is a rural area in Oregon I didn't expect the best Chinese food (or any food really since most options are quite limited) but decided to try it anyways. Upon walking in, we saw several people eating and we were promptly seated. We ordered the lunch special which came with crab rangoons / "crab puffs" (which almost entirely lacked crab), egg flower soup which tasted like bland chicken soup with some egg mixed in (it was served with saltines). It was really undersalted and I ended up adding soy sauce then it was okay. We also got a potsticker appetizer. The meat in the potsticker must have been some kind of blend of pork and chicken and maybe beef (I'm not sure tbh) that was cooked for hours because it was completely dry and tasted very bland. The potstickers were also very oily, like more oily than KFC. Then our mains came. I ordered cashew chicken which just tasted like garlic and canola oil. The chicken was weird and there wasn't very much of it. Mainly bell peppers and celery. My friend ordered the general tso chicken which was clearly packed with sugar. The fried rice was pretty much the only good thing. We left having eaten a third of the food we ordered, and did not desire to take it to go. Overall I would say don't expect good Chinese food from this restaurant you're better off just going to Dairy Queen if you're passing through on a road trip. Was looking forward to some tasty Asian food. The reviews were mixed but some years old so I had hopes of improvement. I ordered, to go, the nights special of coconut shrimp with fried rice. When I opened the carton the shrimps were large and looked great. The sauce on the top looked thick and unusual. What a shock to find the sauce drizzled on top of the shrimp tasted like donut frosting! Thick and so sweet...not good. Maybe there was coconut somewhere but not on the shrimp as is usual. The fried rice was cook on the stove top and tasted of old oil. It was really uneatable so rice was thrown out. I miss good Asian food. Maybe they will take these reviews seriously and look up Asian recipe for coconut shrimp on line. Just a suggestion. read more

This was the only place open in Bandon when we went and there was no one in the restaurant. That should have been our first red flag, but we went ahead and ordered anyway. The pros: Lots and lots of food, which we felt bad about not eating, but there was no way we wanted to take it back with us to the hotel. The cons: All the food was extremely disappointing; not one thing was decent. The egg drop soup was very thick and tasted like bland chicken noodle soup straight out of a can. The crab puffs were fried tasteless dough with cream cheese, the egg rolls were fried tasteless dough with cabbage, and the main dishes were microwavable slop, which consisted of mostly chopped up veggies. The General Tso chicken was so bad that my son jokingly remarked that it was probably reheated from the last people that ordered it and didn't eat it. I can't believe that this restaurant has so many good reviews. Eat here at your own risk. read more

If you're looking for good Asian food in Bandon, OR, trust me, this 'aint it! I'm in town for a night, looking for spot to get a late supper. This is one of a handful of places open later than 6pm. Since it's an unknown quantity, I decide to get the Cashew Chicken. Usually a safe bet for a Chinese place, right? WRONG! About 1/8 of the dish consisted of actual chicken. A full HALF of the dish was taken up by stir-fried CUCUMBERS! Who the hell puts cucumbers in a Chinese dish like this??!! Nobody! That's who! The rest was carrots, broccoli, and a few other odds & ends thrown in as an afterthought. I'm neither a foodie nor a food critic, but at least this one dish was absolutely awful. While staying in Bandon we thought we would try this place to eat at and we were not disappointed. Their Pork Fried rice was a little dry, but their General Tso Chicken that my hubby and I shared was very good. It had a different flavor than I was used to, but very good. It was also very sweet. I also had the cabbage egg roll that was tasty. The staff was friendly and the place was very clean. We did not go into the bar/lounge so can not comment on that. We would go there again. On Tuesday night 11/26/24 I got takeout steamed rice and shrimp chow don from Asian Garden in Bandon. The food was not very warm and seemed different from the many times I ordered it in the past. I commented to my wife how I thought is was different and tasted off from the past. The next morning, Wednesday, I woke up to extreme diarrhea and threw up a few hours later. I called the health department and reported my symptoms. They said my symptoms indicated a case of food poisoning usually caused by improperly prepared food or not holding it at the right temperature. They said Asian Gardens was due for an inspection and they would see them within the next week. Last night, Thursday, I woke up and discovered I had pooped diarrhea in my bed. It is now Friday morning and I'm writing this setting on the toilet as I still have acute diarrhea. Haven't got much sleep due to this terrible experience. I think Asian Gardens owes me an explanation as to what went wrong. Did they have a new cook? Was the food reheated from the past? Did they let the shrimp set out for a few days before using? I have eaten their food in the past and thought it was of good quality and taste. This experience is so negative, I may never eat there again. My wife took a sample of the food back to show them and they said they would tell the cook. Haven't heard anything from them since. read more

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but if you're in the Bandon area and hankering for Chinese food this IS the place. We had dinner here tonight for Mom's birthday and it was truly outstanding. The place is clean, well cared for, comfortable, and the staff is outstanding as well. The food was excellent and the prices are very reasonable for what it is. Figure $20 a plate or a bit less and plan to have at least another meal from the leftovers. I had one of the deluxe plates which had shrimp, chicken, scallops, beef , pork, and lots of perfectly cooked veggies in a slightly spicy brown sauce that was well balanced and tasted very rich. Unctuous! (Layers of rich, smooth flavor) Their pot stickers are lovely and cooked properly, rather than being deep fat fried as so many places do now. They also don't over sweeten the sauces, which is a change from most Chinese places these days. Highly Recommended 10/10. It ain't terribly fancy, but (Oh My!) they absolutely nail it every where it matters. The total for 4 with a 25% tip was $110 in July '22.. and well worth every penny!! Not sure why this place gets a bad rap! The food has been quite good. Not sure about service as takeout is what we do here (COVID times!) so we can't comment. Best Gen. Tso's Chicken we've had in years (could use a bit of heat spice wise, but easily taken care of with home Asian spices)! The appetizer Fried Shimp is Awesome - Tempura style rather than the breaded coating style.... Yummy! ~ One of the things we live about Asian Garden is that the dishes we have ordered don't taste alike. They taste different as individual recipes should!! We will keep coming back here...
