Fantastic beer selection! They had Old Rasputin...no one carries that around here. Lots of local beer, full bar, bar food (but decent not all fried bar food). Music wasn't too loud so we could visit while we munched and drank. Here's the kicker. Service randomly sucks. Our waiter disappeared into the kitchen and stayed there much of the evening. We had to track down someone else to take our drink orders when we were ready. He had no clue what beers were on tap. We paid with a $100.00 bill. Change came back $10 short. Manager took care of the money issue but didn't seem at all interested in knowing how bad the service was. Look, I get it everyone has to learn their job. But usually a bar staff person will at least know what beers they have, know what a vodka gimlet is and be able to count change. You can't learn ANY of that if you hide in the kitchen all night. We'll be back but likely sit at the bar. At least people will notice you need a refill there. read more

Took an hour for drinks to come out. When food *finally* came out it was raw. Not sure who our waitress was but I wish I did so I could mention her by name because she had a horrible attitude. She had a sash saying birthday girl. When we showed up she was sitting at a table and we didn't know she was suppose to be our waitress for the first 20 minutes. All in all, we spent 2.5 hours trying to get a few drinks and pay our bill. We will not be back. Atmosphere was okay, the amateur boxing was cool. read more

An absolute pleasure eating here! We stopped in on our way to Austin and loved it so much that we had to stop on our way back to Phoenix. The food is incredible. The chef came out to greet us and make sure we were enjoying our food, he gave us a sample of his ST Patrick's dish (bangers and mash with Guinness gravy-- WOW) Nick was our bartender both times. He was AWESOME and the manager (didn't catch her name) was also so sweet and friendly and accommodating!! We will certainly be back next time we are in town!! read more

My family used to love coming here...Business lunch once a week, the choice to go for drinks after work. Recently, there was a question about drinks removed from the table by the server before we were finished. Easily fixed. No charge for the unfinished drink, right? Actually not what the establishment chose to do. We asked for reimbursement, and the staff became rude. I'm sorry about that as we'll no longer patronize. I read some of the more critical reviews before my first visit but I was still hopeful. I really love trying new beers and I was not disappointed! This place is really a jewel and while I understand what some experienced regarding the service, some of that is to be expected when you have a place like this which depends on young waitstaff who may not be able to know everything there is to know about the 70+ beers the Broken Spoke offers. They were training someone new the night I was there and she did a good job. But if you know what you like or even if you want to take gamble and try something new you are certain to find something you will enjoy. The menu is limited but they more than make up for it with the choices of beer. I had the tortilla soup and a hamburger which were both great and everyone else was happy with their orders too. For my first beer I was surprised to find a Delirium Tremens. This is one of my favorite Belgien beers and I've never seen on tap here in the US. PERFECTION! I also tried the Breckinridge Vanilla Porter which I will definitely order again. The manager asked us if it was a special occasion and my wife and I were there celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary so she comped us a free desert. We got the bourbon pecan pie which was amazing. It's a shame how the service quality seems to be such an impossible area to improve. From the get-go this place's best feature is the location, but that's about it. Staff not knowledgeable about the beers, seems annoyed when you ask something; literally not able to even tell you the slightest thing about the beers, or make a proper recommendation. I have the highest regard for service folks especially in those strange days and I am an avid tipper when deserved. But - the ignorance and rudeness of the staff and the manager - seemingly too cool to serve patrons is an absolute turn-off. Much better places in town to grab a good beer and some food. read more

Four of us met for lunch at the Broken Spoke Tap House for lunch today. Maybe, after reading other reviews, we were lucky but our service was good. Two of us had the chicken sandwiches with sweet potato fries, one of us, believe it or not, had the bourbon pecan pie and ice cream and I had the Broken Spoke burger with bacon and beer cheese, tomatoes and onions. My burger was very good and no one else was complaining about their selections. I was told that the dessert was great. Will return. read more

One of my fave breweries out in cruces. Only come here for the beer. Not much of a good selection. And that's one of the reasons why I did not fully give this place a five stars, I'm not too impressed by the food. Basically tried the burgers (which I would recommend more than anything in the menu), their pretzel (cheese flavor, I was not feeling it), ahi tuna (hmm... I've had better somewhere else, plus expensive for such a small size ) and their nachos gave me a stomach ache. But in the other hand, really good brews. Prices are affordable , love the ambience and definitely love the outdoor seats. Dog friendly and on the grass they have free cornhole games. read more

On a chilly Las Cruces night, we decided to visit Broken Spoke. We have seen how fun it looked in the warmer weather, never made it. What a wonderful visit. The interior is cozy, wood covered walls, really welcoming. Felt a bit like a ski lodge. People laughing, enjoying great food and delicious beers. I had the chopper salad. Very fresh, dressed well with tons of goodies: pumpkin seeds, garbanzo beans, kale, cheese..yummy! Very satisfying. The pretzel was so good! Fries were crispy and light. My husband and his son had avocado tacos and the carne tacos. Also, fresh and flavorful. We had the Raspberry Dynamite by Steelbender. Great choice. Cannot wait to go back!! read more

If you can't master a taco I'll question your entire menu but that's just me. I ordered their $2 tacos )Tuesday special (beef/chicken). The presentation is beautiful and that's about it. The corn tortilla was clearly not heated up enough to where the tortilla broke with the first bite it almost felt like they took them right out of the package and served them. The beef was "ok" seasoned but the chicken was bland as ever it's quite unfortunate. They have an extensive beer menu which I didn't try (work hours) but perhaps they got that going for them (hence the 1 star). Came here for drinks on a Friday night and had a wonderful time on their spacious open air patio. The staff was on point, the specialty cocktails were nice, and the atmosphere was relaxing and fun. This is the type of venue that people travel to Austin for, but this is in Cruces! We will definitely return to this 3 venue complex. read more

Tried this place. Ordered the black bean burger on a gluten free bun ($2 extra) due to wheat allergy. The patty was a frozen veggie burger and food was brought out on a wheat bun. When I notified the server she was so kind, however the kitchen just replaced the bun so be cautious if you have Celiac or are highly sensitive to cross contamination. The upside is I was able to bring a mixed drink from another restaurant to the open patio since I can't drink beer. Service was great. Our server was attentive, kind, and personable. I can't believe how much Las Cruces has grown and how beautiful downtown is. I love checking out all the new places when I visit. Broken Spoke did not disappoint! We went twice during our trip. Great selection of beer and cocktails. The food is high quality and delicious. Our server Jacqueline was outstanding. Flank steak was a tiny bit more rare than I ordered but that doesn't bother me as I love rare steak. The seasoning was perfect. We had the The pecan pie and homemade ice cream for dessert. Since I have lived in LC for only 8 years, stating that the Broken Spoke is LC's first gastropub may be misspeaking. Before a climate change lecture I stopped in to this establishment located in a building complex at the southend of Main Street with the Visitor's Center and yet to open custom cocktail bar and bar and grill. I hope that the gastro portion pans out because having 18 IPA-like beers, 12 ales, 5 wheats, 11 lagers, 6 stouts/porters, and 5 hard ciders, one wonders IF this variety will cause the food menu shrink or become simply bar food so patrons will have something to absorb the alcohol. I tried their stuffed (bacon, pecans bread crumbs and parmesan) crimini mushrooms. The mushroom were marinaded in something tart which was a nice contrast for the tastebuds. As for the stuffing the only thing I could definitely distinguish was the breadcrumbs. The other side was chicharrones which were dusted a spicy powder and were quite tasty. However, the dipping salsa tasted like mildly seasoned tomato paste. The reason to come here is taste aforementioned extraordinary variety of microbrewed beers overwhelmingly from the West. One wheat beer I tried was from the Belgian beer brewer, Ommegang, which is INCORRECTLY listed as being from Coppertone, NY rather than Cooperstown, NY, home of the Baseball Hall of Fame. At server's recommendation, I tried Founder's raspberry wheat which was quite tasty. Here's hoping LC will support a establishment with such a large variety of beer. I think not, but I''ll be back to try their burgers and more of their beers. They have tasting flights of (4) 5 oz. glasses, but you can also get 3, 5, 10, and 16 oz. portions, 3 oz. is good way taste a variety of their beer selection without having to down 20 oz. of beer. As with many newly opened businesses in LC that serve food, my server brought my stuffed mushrooms in a skillet, but sans silverware or napkin. To wit, knowledge of proper service is often missing in LC. read more

Terrible place to go! Your car gets double parked and you can't leave then no one can do anything to help you out to find the other cars owners. The food is shit the managers are shit the security is shit the only bright spot is the servers who are as great as the management will allow. The owners should be ashamed of themselves. People are encouraged to shit on the hood of the offending vehicles rather than helping find the owners to move the car. No li es in the parking lot means it is a lord of the flies situation. Got to broken spoke in las cruces and waited 20 minutes to even see a server. She asked if I had been served or needed anything and I replied that I would like a beer. 20 minutes go by and I finally get my beer. She disappears and doesn't take my order. Finally comes back and asks if I needed anything else and I said "yes I'd like to order some food". I order my food and the cook brings it out, no silverware. Servers talking in the corner of the restaurant and I go to host stand to find silverware. Server comes and asks if I want another beer and I say yes and she takes the rest of my previous beer and is gone for 20-30 minutes. Nothing. Comes and asks if I need anything and I told her about the missing beer. I see the manager walking by and she asks about the service and I tell her. She grabs the tab (with my card already in it) and says "oh I'm sorry I'll take care of this for you" (me thinking she might take off the beers or something). Server comes back and sets the tab on the table and says "okay have a good night". The full tab was ran on my card... I go to the manager and say "so when you meant you would take care of this you actually just meant you would run the card" she says "oh yeah I just ran it for you"... horrible experience... horrible management. Came here shortly after they opened in April, for my birthday. The server was amazing, but she had a hard time keeping up with our drink order (2 people, we had 2 beers each) bc "the bar was backed up". We weren't in a hurry and the weather was great so I didn't mind. I had the kolsch and some delicious shrimp street tacos. We also had the giant pretzel which was good. We went back again over Easter weekend only to find that they had changed the menu and no longer had kolsch or shrimp tacos. I was disappointed to say the least. I ended up eating the Cobb salad (pretty good) and drinking ultra. Again, our server Bryan, was amazing but had a hard time keeping up with our order because... the bar was backed up. I caught a glimpse of the bartender too- she was frazzled and visibly overwhelmed. We attempted to come here again last night, after the brew fest downtown and ended up leaving bc it was so crowded. We couldn't even get to the bar to stand around and buy a drink. The bartender was again, frazzled and visibly overwhelmed and quickly just started taking the orders of people he knew. I was physically threatened by staff for peaking my head in during training. When I did dine there, the food was terrible, the beer like urine. You are much better off saving your money for dining in Mesilla. Why anyone would frequent this place unless like much of the rest of town they are among the walking dead is beyond me.
