We came to Broken Spoke Tap House shortly after opening. As excited (desperate, really) as I am for a new restaurant/bar experience in Las Cruces, I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I ordered the New Mexico flight of beers, which are not individually identified on the menu. The server could not tell me which beers were what and so I began drinking them without knowing what they were. The fourth one - I have no idea what that was - maybe a cider? - but it was awful to the point of being undrinkable. You would think that if they were going to do a flight they would choose beers that would be generally palatable to most people. Then, my friend and I ordered hamburgers. To say that they were unremarkable is being kind. The meat was dry-ish and under seasoned. And, I ordered sweet potato fries but was served regular fries and was just told at the time the server put them on the table that sweet potato fries were not available. ??? I'm hoping they get it together and don't become another restaurant failure in Las Cruces. I'm rooting for the but skeptical. read more

Very poor service no matter what time of day you go. I've given this place multiple tries since I like the location and the surrounding bars. I've never had good service the 5+ times Ive gone. Servers take to long and are rude and unapproachable. One visit was so bad we asked to speak to the owner/manager and the server told us they would be right out, they never came. One this same visit the server brought us out 4 wrong drink orders, who they themselves didn't even know what table the drinks did belong too. Food takes about 45 minute to come out and expect them to have something wrong or be missing something you asked for. In the past they've forgotten my sides or one time forgot to add chicken to my order. Seems like the servers only care about talking to each other in that corner by the kitchen and bathrooms. Sad since this place has a lot of potential but the service really brings it down. read more

I hate to post bad reviews about places, but I just had to on this joint. The manager was very disrespectful when we complained about service. We complained about the beer being warm and about the table that we got, it was dirty. He never apologized and instead he told the waitress to cut me off. My friends and I were freakin surprised when he did that. We decided to pay our tab and leave with causing drama. read more

Super yummy food! & great atmosphere (: (bourbon pecan pie is a must)! always busy and happening and very friendly staff. They also have live bands on the weekends (depending) which are super lively and lead to an overall great experience! Favorite brewery in town! read more

My wife and I have been here 3 times in the past month, with mixed results. First visit (a couple days after their official opening) we had a few 5 oz. samples of beers, while conversing with the bartender, who was just learning the ropes. He was pleasant enough, knew about most of the beers, and provided great service. We had the pretzels (which is actually just one big pretzel) with beer-bacon cheese sauce (which was thin and insufficient in volume to last for even half the pretzel) - decent, but not great. Best thing about the visit was the beer menu listing about 70 beers on tap and in bottles (organized by beer type, and easy to decipher) and the selection of dark, tasty beers (we both hate wimpy light beers and over-hopped beers). We were then hoping for a better visit next time. Second visit (a week later) we went for lunch and, of course, beers. When we got the beer menu, it had changed - beers were organized in alphabetic order by brewery (??!!) - no thought given to beer type, so it was a struggle to find beers within the beer types we preferred. Ordered the first beer after 10 minutes or so of reading (the only one of its type on the menu), and they were out. After another 5 minutes of reading through the beer menu, I found another beer of a different type, and they were out of that, too (??!!). Clearly they have an issue with their beer supply/supplier. Finally found another beer that they had in stock, and then ordered lunch. We wanted to try the pretzel with beer and bacon cheese again, BUT THEY WERE OUT! This was 1 hour after they opened, so there's no excuse for this. Then ordered the tuna tower. The tuna was supposed to be tossed in their special poke sauce, but it came out sans sauce, and the material on the base (some sort of grain mixture) was so dry that it was hard to choke down. Also had the grilled apple/brie sandwich, which was just a slice of apple with some cheese (not brie) slapped on it, and had barely touched the grill - couldn't finish it. Then watched as a pretzel went by to a table behind us - WHAT?? Had another beer and left, thinking we'd wait a few weeks to see if they could get their s*** together. A few weeks later, went again for lunch and, again, they were out of the first beer I ordered, the food we ordered was sketchy, and the tortilla soup I ordered arrived as we were preparing to leave, and was clearly from a can, definitely not fresh-made (all of the meat was glommed together in the bottom of the bowl, and the broth was oily). Service was horrible. Enough said....... I hope they do get it together, as Las Cruces could use a good taproom. read more

Great beer list! Food ok. Two different dishes their meat did not have any seasoning. Give them time and it should get better.

The place itself is very nice, the service However is very poor. There is one server Laura who did very good at trying to pick up everybody's slack. We were there for over an hour got one drink and were not checked on again, we spoke to the manager (Eric) and not even he doing his job well. We had to talk to a second manager (Michael), after being here for almost two hours, we received our food which was already very cold. read more

First time being at Broken Spoke and I have to say drinks are really good here and that's probably the one and only reason we would come back. Food is alrightttt but it takes a very long time to come out and the service wasn't very good either, feels like they don't have enough people staffed it's 2 people on the patio running around ramped to get to everyone so that also adds on to everything taking forever to get to us. :) but overall cool environment for summer time the patio could use some fans or something to cool it off read more

I have been twice now and keep hoping they will get better as the venue is really nice. However food is mediocre and service is horrible. Waiting times are ridiculous... keeping my fingers crossed that things will get better and management does a better job. read more

Summary: Waitstaff was great, but the combo of prices and "bartenders" leaves something to be desired. Details: Two of us went here on a Friday night after realizing it had finally opened. It was busy but after we found a table we were met by a waiter pretty quickly. We ordered single beers each, but then the waiter returned and said it turned out they were out of one. So, since this place is being lauded for its expansive beer selection--and note, it ONLY sells beer, not mixed drinks--we ordered a flight. The waiter had to return empty handed again, and informed us that "because they were busy, the bartenders said they weren't doing flights tonight." What the heck?! At a place that only sells beer, the bartenders' only main job is to pour beer in glasses, and so this did not make sense and was really disappointing. In the end, we ordered another single glass, and while both beers we had were good, they were a little warm and a little pricey for the area. I don't think we will be returning unless there is some kind of special event; there are plenty of other microbreweries in town with a more chill atmosphere that is amenable to the customer who just wants to try stuff and hang out, which is what we prefer. read more

I wanted to wait a couple of weeks until I stopped in to check out this new tap house. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the holy grail shrine of beer on the wall! They have 62 TAP HANDLES!! This kind of selection is only found in larger markets like Austin, Houston, etc. Without a doubt the best draft selection in southern NM! I order a flight of four brews. The bartender, D'Andra wrote them down and told me about each one. Good job D! I ordered the shishito peppers. Very good. Then ordered the hatch attack burger. Melted cheese over hatch green chile. YUM. I asked about happy hour or daily specials. They were running two pint specials, Carlsburg for $4.50 and Monks dark ale for $5.00. Not bad for a European import and a New Mexico craft ale. This place has a great vibe with five roll up garage doors going out to a beer garden/patio. I saw a concert promotional poster on the wall, so I guess they do live music here as well. My husband, best friend and I decided to go to this establishment for a few drinks and dinner on a Wednesday night. It is sad how one rotten egg can ruin the reputation for a business. I do not enjoy giving a bad review, however, I feel that poor customer service is a huge problem. We arrived around 6:45pm in 100 degree weather and were forced to choose to sit outside on the patio due to the inside being full. At this point, we were not acknowledged at all so we sat outside on our own. We asked one server to help us put up an umbrella and she did but walked away after. We then waited about 20 minutes in the hot sun and again, were not acknowledged or even asked if we would like to place a drink order. I called out to a server and she ignored me so we chose to get up and walk out. We want to bring this to their attention because we own local businesses and would love to support local businesses as well. It is important to acknowledge customers and treat them as if they are welcomed. Most likely, we will not be visiting this establishment again. read more
