Loved our experience here. I love how they are doing contactless ordering which allows you to enjoy conversation with friends and are able to order on your own time. The inside is so beautifully decorated and their menu is extensive with a lot of great options. We got the pierogis, pepperoni pretzel, and sausage sampler board. All the food was super good and the beers were all amazing. I'd love to come back just to try some of the other items on the menu. The only thing I wish they had is a flight so you could try more of their awesome selection of beer instead of getting full off of 2 .5L. read more

Holy Bronson Bierhall!!!! Talk about down right amazing!! I can see why this place is packed and poppin!!! I met my cousin and his crew here on a weeknight for HH and no idea what to expect and let's just say I was pleased!! As soon as you walk in, its a beer hall vibe!!! The bar here is spacious and open with plenty of seating. It can get a little crowded but have no fear there are other seats near!!! If sitting at the bar itself is not your thing, they do have plenty of high top tables let line the edges as well as a more modern version of communal picnic tables that you can sit at. The beer selection is nice with not only german beers (draft and bottle) but some local fav as well like the Port City Optimal Wit (that I am currently crushing on)!! If you find something you like do not be shy and go ahead and get that 1L which is $2 off during happy hour (cha-ching). Food is memorable as well, from the giant pretzel that you can share or the Grilled Bourbon BBQ Wings (my official new fav) that will have you saying forget the napkin because you will be licking your fingers trying to savor the flavor. This is also a great spot to catch the game as the have plenty of tvs around the bar area for your viewing pleasure. No beer hall is complete without games and Bronson has you covered with ping pong, shuffleboard and darts, I do believe. Plus, when the weathers warmer and they slide the garage doors up, you get outdoor seating as well as cornhole!!! A friend insisted we grab a beer after dinner and Bronson was the preferred place. Fairly busy on a weeknight. There are probably 20 different beers on tap, and many more by the bottle or can. The place resembles an old German or Czech Ratskeller and was a great place to share a table, good conversation with a good friend. This used to be A Town and they did a legit job renovating into a German type beer hall. They have lots of beers on tap and some okay happy hour specials, including $4 Narragansett cans (from NY not Germany but tasty beer). The food is pretty good, you can't go wrong with the pretzel bites or the potato chips as appetizers and I enjoyed the beef stroganoff as well. The food menu is a little limited but they have brats, schnitzel, etc. so they have the basics for German style bar food. They should add a few entrees to expand their menu. One annoying thing was the live singer around 7pm on a Thursday. He wasn't bad but it was so loud you could barely talk to anyone. I like having live music at places but this was a bit much and nobody seemed to really be listening to him, instead trying to talk over it. This area has been the Bermuda triangle for restaurants, hope they manage to stick it out and I'll be back here if they stick around. read more

Another great establishment in the DMV! Bronson Bierhall serves German-American food and beer in a tavern-like setting, and it is a great place to hangout with friends or co-workers on any given day. The restaurant layout is set up where all seating is long, indoor picnic tables spread throughout the restaurant, and you order food and drink from QR codes at each table. This creates an atmosphere where it's easy to meet people because on busy days because you can either stand at the bar or share a table with other people and chat. There are also a lot of TV's that are perfect for watching sports games. The beers are good and the smallest size of beer is 0.5L. I haven't tried much of the food here, but the Giant Munich pretzel is amazing. Of all the pretzels I've had, this one was the fluffiest, tastiest and biggest. This can be easily shared among 4+ people, and the best part is that the other pretzels on the menu are basically this Giant Munich pretzel but stuffed with either cheese, pepperoni, and even crab! I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be coming back in the future. It is worth noting: because this place is so popular, it can be fairly noisy and difficult to chat with friends. I've seen several places cycle through this location, and I think The Bronson is one of the best incarnations. It's a German-inspired beer hall that's got a sort of industrial yet polished vibe. Lots of televisions line the walls, making it a great place to catch a game. I was pleasantly surprised by the food. It's better than most bar fare. I tried the happy hour pretzel bites and schnitzel with fries. It all came out fast and warm with two dips on the side. The beer menu is also quite robust. The biggest downside was that it was pretty crowded and loud, but that's not unexpected for a popular new place around happy hour time. And as with anything in Ballston, be mindful of parking. I feel like it's time I should update my review for Bronson! This is definitely the go to spot for all things beer, sports, food, games, and just hanging with friends at happy hour! My husband and I visited earlier today for happy hour and we found a couple seats at the bar, there wasn't a ton of rush when we arrived around 4:45pm, but when we left around 6pm it was definitely getting busier! They have a great deal when you order a beer on tap you get $2 off during happy hour so we both got 0.5 liter of beer. We also ordered more food than we needed - the jalapeño cheddar Jack pretzel (spicy!) and the hand cut fries. Both items hit the spot since we were hungry and totally filled us up! Came here twice, once with coworkers for Happy Hour and once with friends in the evening. The beer was pretty good with a large selection of local beers. The ambiance during the day is pretty chill, and I like how they have a large outdoor section. During weekend nights, this place has more of a sports bar vibe. They did have live music, which was a plus, but this place gets so packed and loud that you can barely hear your friends. The food is pretty standard, mediocre bar food. My friends and I split a pretzel, and it was huge - even with 4 of us, we couldn't finish it. The M.A.C. was stuffed with mozzarella and pepperoni, which tasted like a pepperoni pizza. The first couple bites were really good, but it progressively gets greasier and heavier. The cubano also was ok, but nothing to write home about. The inside is open and light and has a bunch of picnic style tables to sit with big groups. There is also an outdoor portion when it's warm to play corn hole and jenga. We truly enjoyed this place. The outdoor seating was pleasant, esp for a chilly day (they had outdoor heaters and are dog friendly). The food was phenomenal - favorites were the variety of handmade sausage and the ginormous pretzel for sharing. A surprising delight was the Aslin Isolation DIPA. Holy cow, that beer was SO GOOD, and I'm not even a beer drinker by habit. It was too easy to drink fast, but happy in knowing it's a local brewery being supported, too. The weather was nice so we decided to check out Bronson's patio for a little people watching. The food was good, but be careful what you order. Portions are much larger than we anticipated so we way over ordered. Lots of leftovers! We ordered the schnitzel, sausage platter, tater tots and the jalapeño cheese pretzel. The schnitzel was good, but the potato salad wasn't authentic vinegar based like you would find in Germany. Still tasty. The sausage platter comes with 5 full size house made sausages. A little salty, but tasty. Our favorites were the bratwurst, smoked sausage, and Italian. The tater tots are really yummy, crispy and seasoned well. All of that said, let me go back to these pretzels, they come in several different flavors/varieties, but they are hot, fresh and HUGE. Bigger than a diner plate and can feed several people as an appetizer. The beer selection stays updated and not boring. They have an expansive beer menu to keep anyone happy. We had no problem finding either a German favorite or an IPA depending on the mood. My wife and I both had the Bronson Reuben which were outstanding. I went here during a warm winter day during COVID and sat outside. The atmosphere was great! They have generous seating with plenty of heating lamps if you're looking for a great place to enjoy a drink outside with friends on a cool evening. The beer selection was good and we ordered two of the on tap beers that are harder to find. The menu is limited if you're a vegetarian, but there are great options for snacks with your drinks. We had a jalapeño cheddar Jack pretzel, and it was delicious and absolutely enormous (the two of us struggled to finish it at happy hour). It was also actually appropriately spicy. It came with a warm beer cheese and grainy mustard. The only reason I gave it four stars was that the prices are a a little high for what you get, and the menu could use more meat-free options.
