Went here on a double date during restaurant week, and did the 60 dollar dinner option. I have only heard good things about this place and was pretty excited to give it a try. Unfortunately my expectations were no where near met, I had an exceptionally below average experience. From service, to ambiance, to food quality everything was lacking in my opinion. The portion sizes were fairly small for a fairly expensive dinner, to the point where we were seeking food afterwards. One of my friends fried chicken came out underdone, leaving chicken juices and blood soaking up their dinner plate. The portion of the steak frites was underwhelming and looked nothing like the full dinner portion. What good moments we had at dinner, were lessened by the club volume music they were playing. For an upscale winery the music volume did not match our or anyone's expectations. Finally, our server was fine and that's it, after hearing about the undercooked chicken she took the plate and left, then returned and asked if my friend would like something else? Why not ask when taking the plate, why not try everything within your power to make the situation right then in the moment? Was the chicken removed from the ticket, no. Did the waitress seem to actually care that we were unsatisfied, no. I would try this place once again, but it would take a while, and I wouldn't do the restaurant week dinner again, we absolutely felt like we were played seeing the bill. read more

What I do love about this place is it's got a positive vibe and it's black owned. The staff for me are the highlight. Everyone is friendly. Black staff dressed in black and loving on black is something the black community needs. The flow of energy is great. The music is really good. A nice space for people on the Southside. I am warming up to the food. I've tried different items and each gets better. I still think there is room for improvement on the food line but it's good. I was able to check out Bronzeville Winery with my mom and our childhood friends. This black-owned restaurant was everything and more. The service although good and the waiter was so kind we had someone missing an item. However they fixed it super quickly. The food was great, I need to go back and try more I wasn't entirely hungry so I had the poached pear salad with grilled shrimp. I'm not a huge getting a salad at a restaurant but they may have made me a believer! We also had to have a couple of glasses of wine which was delicious and smooth. The energy of the place was contagious! I'm not sure if it was the vibrant colors or just bright personalities but the place as a whole made me happy. As this was a meeting where I haven't seen my friend and my mom's friend since I was a kid we had to take a picture and the staff was so nice to take a few and making sure they actually looked good! The menu showcases a few expected entrees, from salmon to flatbreads contrasted with the unexpected grilled watermelon steak. Dined in recently for their happy hour and I must say my experience was top notch. The ambiance of the restaurant is a vibe in itself, it's welcoming and gives you that community feel. My server was super nice and accommodating. She let us sample a few different wines. We ordered a variety of the HH food offerings with the lamp chops being the star of the show. I wish they offered them on their full menu. The food was flavorful, fresh and served hot (which is something I look for in a restaurant). The drinks were really good as well. I visited Bronzeville Winery for brunch with my boyfriend and what stood out to us the most was how friendly the staff were during every point of our dining experience. The vibes of the restaurant were also nice. I got the chicken and waffles which were the best chicken and waffles I have had so far. They came with some maple syrup and hot sauce that paired very well with the dish. My boyfriend got the shrimp and grits and it was the first time that we had tried it in general and they were amazing, definitely raised the bar for the future shrimp and grits dishes we may try. We also had a side of their beef bacon which was very delicious. We also got the flight of mimosas (I wish I remembered the different flavors) which was very delicious. The only thing that I did not like was that our server pushed the flight of mimosas onto us. I wanted to check the price before proceeding but got dismissed (and it also was not on the menu), did not let us say how many we wanted and proceeded to bring two flights when we could have shared one, especially since they were strong and we had to get on the road after. Both flights ended up being as expensive as our food. I wish I got to ask my questions before hand to prevent this from happening because only one was necessary but besides that I definitely recommend. Walked in for my reservation and was seated right away, everything else was downhill after that. Took 30 minutes to get cocktails, cocktails with no alcohol in them. That's like having a fashion show with no fashions, we'll just call this the She by Sheree of restaurants. Took over 90 minutes to get our food, not sure how they expect you to finish your meal within 90 minutes if it's not served to you within that time. Food was meh, owner walked in and did not acknowledge any of his customers, just came in to be seen I guess. Then they gave us a bill that had no comps (which were promised to us several times given the abysmal service) and still had the 2 alcohol-less drinks on the bill. However, we were told that in order for one to partake, we both had to, weird! Not sure that any other venues operate this exact same way. Warning to all plant-based diet eaters: The "Vegan Burger" is NOT fit for a vegan. The bun is a conventional ole' enriched and eggy bun. The alternative is a gluten free bun. But ultimately, there is not vegan bun offering on the "Vegan Burger." Yea, your eyes are not deceiving you. This means no one that runs this place knows what the word vegan means. Maybe this doesn't seem to be a problem to the restaurant, or non-vegan eaters. But even if you don't have a severe allergy to dairy or animal products, not having eaten those foods in an extended period will make it a painful and unpleasant experience the rest of the night and next day. Went on a Thursday night after work and there was a nice amount of people dining in. When we walked in I loved the dim cozy atmosphere and they had a bar as well if you didn't want to dine at a table. Our waitress unfortunately i can't remember her name but she was awesome ( she had locs). We did the sweet red wine tasting. Loved everything about this restaurant: the scene, the service, and especially the food. The vibe is affluent yet friendly, so you might want to dress at least business casual to visibly fit in. The service was accommodating, as anyone was happy to assist if you have a question and your server wasn't nearby. My gnocchi dish was one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a long time. The pasta-to-meat ratio (as it came with scallops and shrimp) was perfect, the cream sauce was rich and flavorful, and the veggies and garnish added a uniqueness to the dish that makes it hard to forget. I appreciated the complimentary sweet potato ribbons that replaced the usual bread that is served at other restaurants, as it was a nice, light snack that didn't fill you up before the main dish arrives. I can't tell you anything about the food, wine or cocktails here. We left after an hour of being served nothing. It took 18 mins for a waiter to come over and about 30 mins to just get water. I recently had the opportunity and privelage to venture in to Bronzeville Winery for the 2nd time in two weeks, and Chef Whitney McMorris can not and will not disappoint. A few close friends and I were sat at the Chef's table and the service was, again, of a top tier caliber truly unlike anything I've experienced before. Firstly, it must be said that the Chef immediately provides a warm and welcoming atmosphere that helps you settle into a night of fun, excitement and deliciousness right away. She brings a sense of style and grace that is all her own which makes for a brilliant vibe of familiarity and comradery that is quite palpable. You can tell she is veritably happy to see you. This feeling carries throughout the night as each team member you encounter shares this same sentiment. It makes you feel as if you are right where you're suppose to be in that moment. Our server Kha'Azra was highly knowledgeable and clearly enjoys what she does, as she was extremely professional, yet incredibly approachable. She truly was a joy, and each time she returned to our table her presence was something to look forward to as she ushered us through the night. Her cocktail pairings and recommendations were a welcomed addition to the wonderment we were continually feeling. With Chef Whitney presenting each course, every menu item left us in awe of her undeniable talent. We couldn't help being overwhelmed with curiosity and enticement as each course was served. The complimentary Sweet Potatoe Curls were simply delicious and showed an elegance that was a constant throughout service. The Brussel Sprouts, which are normally not for me, were by far the best vegetable appetizer I've had the pleasure of trying, with a sweet sesame glaze that begs to be bottled and sold. The Salmon was perfectly cooked and had so many flavor elements I just had to inquire again with the chef on each component, to which she happily obliged. The Watermelon Steak was impressively crafted and a jubilee to the tastebuds. With a smokey char on the outside so similar to an actual steak, and juiciness unlike anything you've likely tasted, you have to wonder just how she concocted such an amazingly cohesive dish. Everything on the plate leaves you blown away. The Filet Mignon, with a beautifully innovative garden made up of all sorts of delicious morsels and tidbits waiting for you to find is almost too gorgeous to eat. Almost. It is perhaps the most whimsical entree on the entire menu. These were just a few of the dishes we were fortunate enough to get to try, but everything was categorically flawless. Dessert was a delectable warm Peach Cobbler Pie (Justice of the Pies) served with coffee ice cream and paired with an Espresso Martini that went hand in hand like a match made in heaven. Amy, the general manager presented us with our final course and was without a doubt the cherry on top of the whole experience. You can feel the excellence and professionalism she brings to the table, and she too was such a delight to take in. It was the end to a perfect night. Without question, we will be back. The vibes were immaculate, the food was scrupmtious, and the service was good. Me and 2 girlfriends thoroughly enjoyed our Friday night here. The hostess inquired about food allergies as we were seated and water was poured for us right after. Big shoutout to our server, London, who was attentive, warm and helpful. We got to sample multiple wines from the menu before choosing our drinks for the evening. The decor was modern and the arms on the chairs had this fabulous detail to hold a purse! We had apps, drinks and dessert this time around. I will be back to try dinner with my husband. There are far more drink options than food at the moment, hoping they'll expand this over time.
