I met up with my Mom to grab lunch here. Her and my Dad must have had two fantastic dinners because she highly recommended it. Located in the heart of Sandy Springs in the same unassuming strip mall as Breadwinners Cafe, I was thrilled to have been treated to Brooklyn Cafe today. The place was packed and this included the enclosed patio and it was 90+ degrees out. I think that says something in itself. The interior of the restaurant does not wow you, but it has a kind of a cozy, quaint little restaurant dinner spot. I ate like a fat kid all weekend, so I was wanting a salad. One of the specials today was the crab cake salad, with a shellfish allergy I could not order this, but it is what my mom got. She ate every bite and said she will get it every time she comes to lunch here moving forward. I went with the grilled chicken salad and I ate every bite too. It was awesome. It came with thinly sliced pieces of grilled chick, I think I tasted a bit of lemon juice on the chicken. The peanut dressing was just too good. Stopped here with friend after a visit to Northside hospital based on decent reviews. It was terrible! Sat us in a dank back overflow room near a door where employees were in and out the whole time with one employee wearing a backpack maneuvering a cart non stop between my chair and the table behind me. Said no tables or booths in front of restaurant were available because we didn't make a reservation on a Tuesday for lunch! But, when we arrived and left plenty of tables available in the somewhat nicer section up front. Food was terrible, cold grilled chicken Asian salad was lettuce a few peanuts and cold chicken. Fried tomatoes were the worst ever. Giving 2 stars because the server was nice. Reviews are way off here. Worst lunch ever! read more

My wife and I had a strong taste for steak one night and decided to try out Brooklyn Cafe. When we walked in, the aroma was awesome! You could literally smell the different seafoods and steaks being prepared in the back. We both ordered a strip steak and it was truly great! The steak was fully seasoned it really brought out the steak's flavor and it was the perfect level of medium well. Our server was excellent and provided great service. We stopped by early in the day to make reservations and request an outside table. The hostess, said yes, and said 6:15 pm is the time we can do that. We called friends and came back, only to be told they had our name, the time of reservation but no outdoor table, the only way to get an outdoor table, is to be on a handwritten special list, and we were not. The dinner hostess and the manager were rude, insulting, and full of arrogance. The explanations they each gave were different and made no sense. All they had to say was I am sorry or we are sorry. It appears - the afternoon hostess did not know the rules or did not know how to get an outside table. By the way, no one was in a mask, and they do not believe in social distancing. We will not go back. The manager and hostess have no customer service skills. read more

Went here two weekends in a row. First we went for lunch. Had the Reuben sandwich and the Fig and Walnut salad. Both were amazing! Reuben was one of the best I've had. The salad was outstanding! Next we went for only an appetizer and a drink. Had the Trout dip and it was sooo good!!! The wine list is great. Lots of fantastic wines to choose from. Husband had an Old Fashion, not the best but ok. Paul was our server today and he was great! Super energetic and really went far and beyond to make our visit fun and enjoyable. We will definitely be back again for dinner. Heard that the crab cakes are supposed to be wonderful. This place is always full, lunch or dinner, there is always people there. After 20 years we returned to Brooklyn Café. Haven't been since because of the distance. It was our favorite restaurant when we moved to Georgia. The restaurant got bought 15 years ago by two guys that injected enormous amounts of passion. Let me tel you something. We didn't want our meal to end. Likely the best meal we have had all year. I was a huge fan of this spot back in 1998. They had everything imaginable. Photos of Brooklyn bridge. A variety of menu flavors from the east coast with a southern flare. A nice clean deck/patio area that was void of truck exhaust and motor noise pollution. But it appears things have changed according to my experience. The patio area has now been converted to (BYOP) bring your pets. So there was a profuse experience of dog hair and stained urine along the patio area. I was a little shocked when I saw this but what made matters worse is a big semi truck was backed in unloading food but the driver had the engine running. While the engine was running there was loud motor sounds coming from the engine AND black smoke (pollution) emitting from the exhaust pipes. I decided to scurry down my food and get out in a hurry. It was not a good experience. Service was nice, but the ambiance was not balanced with the overall experience. It was actually sad. read more

This was a recommendation from my boyfriend's parents. The environment is odd for how "nice" this restaurant is. Retro diner tile floor with fancy menu/meal. The crab cakes were FULL MEAT, ZERO FILLERS, and soooo delicious. The lobster risotto had HUGE chunks of lobster not to mention 6 large shrimp. Great people, great food, great experience! Most of the staff have been there for several years and know their customers by name. The atmosphere is like being at a friend's house for dinner! Our server Georgia was excellent and very engaging while also giving us good space to talk . I got the NY Strip which was thick and cooked to a perfect medium rare temp. As good or better than steaks I've had at Bones and Little Alleys. My wife had the grouper which was also cooked perfectly and she absolutely loved it. Their wine list is excellent and the prices are very very reasonable. They have Napa Cabs and RRV Pinots in the low $50's that are $70"s-$80"s at any other restaurant. Kudos to the owners for fostering such a wonderful environment that's loved by both its customers and staff. Will absolutely be back! read more

[TL;DR] I've been for lunch and dinner. The lunch menu I would entertain as a modicum above affordable and a better selection overall. Had the lobster bisque and the awesome fish sandwich. The bisque was flavorful and tastes creamy. Interestingly though, it's not thick like usual bisques. Paired well with the fish sandwich, which is a filet of blackened Mahi Mahi. It had a discernible spicy kick but remained mild overall. Good stuff. Had my eye on my friend's turkey sandwich the whole time, despite that. That is something I have to sample the next time I'm in there. If you like tomatoes, the tomatoes served with bleu cheese and vinaigrette as a side looked like something you do not want to miss. read more

We happened to stumble upon this place while in the area. My man is from Brooklyn so when I saw we were only 0.8 miles away from the restaurant, it was a must try with a 4 star rating. Upon walking in, we noticed that it wasn't out crowd. The patrons were all older. I'm talking have kids our age older. We decided to stay anyways, because it was a Friday night and packed! Nothing like being in a crowded restaurant on a Friday, people watching. We were greeted by the hostess who said we had about a 20 minute wait, but after a few minutes a woman came to me and told me her husband was getting up from the bar and there would be 2 seats available. So, of course we scooped them up quickly. When we sat at the bar, we were in between a bunch of regulars. A lot of people had been coming there since before they had children. The couple to my right had tried everything on the menu and even had their names engraved on the bar. They gave their recommendations of what to try and we're uber friendly. They were a little tipsy but so nice to talk to. Jabari and I got a couple drinks a conversed with the people around us while waiting for food. I got the braised, boneless short ribs, mashed potatoes and carrots. Freaking awesomeness in edible form! Oh, my drink was nice and sweet but strong, too. My boo got the lamb chops. He said it was awesome sauce too. OK, he might not have said, "awesome sauce" but he said it was delicious. While we were eating, a man to our left finished his steak and was going to throw it away! Jabari was not about to have that... so he tried it. There was so much meat left I couldn't see how the man was just going to throw it away! Jabari ended up eating quite a bit while another patron tasted it and took the remainder home. The used their own forks.. ha ha. This place is definitely a great eatery. We've already decided to come back in the near future and try the great crab cakes everyone keeps mentioning. Space - I love the outside patio area. Super awesome. The inside didn't look too bad. My co worker had her pre wedding office lunch here and it was the perfect setting and atmosphere. Service - Really great. 5/5. Nice folks. Food - I forgot to take a pic of our app: the smoked salmon. This was really delicious. I didn't think I'd like it since it was smoked. I'm pretty sure I ate at least half of it ha. Oh. They do include bread and some sauce. The bread was oddly very good too. Wasn't stale or anything. Portion was nice and generous. This quaint corner restaurant at the end of a cute strip mall is something to really talk about. This is a wonderful place to go to for a nice lunch with friends and great customer service! Everyone from the host to the bussing staff were all happy to have us. We really enjoyed the food here. I opted for the special item that day which was a steak and mushroom sandwich. It was honestly a taste of heaven - loaded with a LOT of freshly made steak and some mushrooms on this amazing white sauce! I truly enjoyed this sandwich and my reaction was the same as everyone else on the table with their orders - trout and tomatoes and the awesome fish sandwich! Ordered the lamb chops and braised short ribs of beef. When I got the lamb it was still too bloody to consume. I sent it back and it came back basically raw in the center. It was worse then the first attempt. The waiter insisted and told me as a pregnant woman I didn't have to worry about consuming raw meat and that it presents no harm of consumed. Not want to cause a stir I decided to recook it at home. Neither dish came with sauce which it desperately needed to bring flavor. Almost all dishes come with mashed potatoes. This corner spot in a strip mall on sandy springs circle is nearly always PACKED. Regulars keep a neighborhood restaurant thriving and brings people in from out of the area equally. The menu is what I describe as white bread Americana. It is limited but still has something for everyone. Roasted artichokes and lobster bisque are both great to see on a limited menu but I was in the mood for good ol american red meat. That mood translated into my table getting a big fat burger and a classic reuben sandwich. A quite large burger, too large to finish but I tried. Juicy and flavorful yet simple and classic. It really hit the spot. The rueben suffered the same portion overload that the burger did which ends one way only: With a take out container. I am never too full for dessert and the sound of double chocolate cake rubbed me right. Large slice with two tiny shots of milk on either side. Adorably delicious. Attentive service, a busy bar and lively crowd makes it clear why this is a neighborhood favorite! read more

This place is truly a hidden gem. It's in a fairly indiscreet strip mall and just looking @ the menu doesn't really do this place justice. You really need to try it. Artichokes, Fish/Shrimp Tacos, and the Pork Tenderloin sandwich are my absolute faves here. In combination w/ the fries and you have an excellent meal.
