I really hope they've gotten their act together by now. We went there a while back and it seemed like they had everything figured out - a shuttle from the subway, gaming out back (although mini-gulf was not yet open), a great summery outdoor dining set-up, just one thing missing. I won't bore with the details of my visit, but let it suffice to say that when won't accept names on the waitlist for 2 hours, and meanwhile tables are open and empty, it's a really bad sign. At night, they get super crowded, and apparently hold alot of their tables for their kickstarter donators, creating an artificially long wait. Sadly I had never heard of Brooklyn Crab before this past Monday. I attended a company luncheon here this past Tuesday and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The staff was very friendly and attentive the setting was under a tent in the backyard and the food was Delish! We had the calm chowder, shrimp cocktail, big bowls of lobster, crab legs, corn on the cob and potatoes dessert was key lime pie. From what I could see the place is a fun night spot to come and enjoy it seems to have miniature golf and lots of other fun lawn games. I will definitely have to return. If you love seafood and like to have a fun time while eating and drinking you need to check this place out. read more

I was very excited to come here because I had been craving crab for like a year....my boyfriend and another couple decided to come here on a Saturday evening. The wait wasn't too long but that was about the only good thing. We got sat at table right next to the dishes area so every time the busers would drop off dishes it was like a loud boom!! Over and over again :-/ The waitress came and took our drink and appetizer order. It took a while to get our drinks and my friend's drink never came all together. We ordered mussels, peeled shrimp and calamari. All were decent but nothing to write home about. The waitress never really came back to check on us to make sure that everything was ok which was annoying because we were missing napkins and needed water. For the main course we all got Snow Crab. I asked if I could substitute the corn for something else because I am allergic. The waitress said that she would give me another coleslaw (woopie....side eye ). Mind you the snow crab bucket was 34 dollars each, when we got it, it was luke warm, the crab was kinda just thrown in the bucket and the two mini coleslaws were all the way at the bottom. Point blank: The crab was mediocre, not much meat at all. I asked for garlic butter, I got plain. The waitress who was no where to be found didn't give us the shell crackers so we were all just sitting there looking at each other for 5 minutes until finally a bus boy came with them. We kept trying to get our waitresses attention but that was like trying to call Jesus. One of my friends meal didn't come, which was weird because we all ordered at the same time, and my other friend ordered french fries, which she forgot. By the time the french fries got there, they were cold. The coleslaw tasted like moth balls.....like honestly, I don't know if something was wrong with it or whatever but it tasted nasty. So basically I paid 34 dollars for a skinny ass crab with no meat. No thanks. For four people it came out to 250.00 dollars!!! Like what? We could have gone somewhere else and all gotten steak for that money. I left there still hungry because I didn't eat the gross coleslaw and the lack of crab meat. I was pissed. NOTE: I don't like giving bad reviews, I really don't. I have worked in restaurants and was also a line cook, so I know how it goes. I know that its not easy but this was an all around fail. My boyfriend was pissed because he knew how much I wanted to eat crab and it was a total bummer. I think that they need to get a handle on their staff and be better organized but I also think that the food is pretty mediocre and NOT worth the money. Came for drinks on Sunday night. The kitchen was already closed (it shuts at 9, but the bar stays open until midnight), but it was a pleasant time. Draft beers are in thee $4-6 range, and the surprisingly good pina coladas are only $8. The location is excellent and with the breezes off the water and view back towards Manhattan, it's a great addition to Red Hook. That said, I could see some of the things that have led to so many complaints here. There was confusion about the shuttle - even after one waiter confirmed it would run until midnight, it had stopped when we left at 10:30, and there was a mixture of professional and inattentive service at the bar. I would come back here, not for the mob scene of the weekend dinner hour, but maybe half an hour before the kitchen closed for an appetizer or two, and more beer. read more

It was just steamed dungeness, snow, and king crab with Old bay poured all over it heavily handedly. This was kinda of expensive as well, for an underwhelming amount of crab. Where's the boil? The redeeming factor was the fish and chips. Hot flakey cod with a great batter and a side of delicious fries. I would highly recommend this to any one. Place has a great, fun vibe with 3 floors of fun (multiple corn hole set up). However, the food is overpriced and beyond mediocre. The snow crab roll had a weird texture (due to the super shredded pieces, instead of decent sized chunks) and the crab tasted "waterlogged" and basically flavorless. For $18, you get a small roll and a platter overpowered with the amount of chips (chips took up 70% of the plate). My friend got the grilled octopus and he had to send it back because it was barely sliceable due to it being way overcooked. The second try was less rubbery but still overcooked. read more

Seating can take some time, and we went upstairs to the bar to just hover over a table that is first come first serve... we got one in 20 mins. We have been coming to the restaurant since it opened many years ago (we used to go to Alma, the owner's first place prior to their opening of Brooklyn Crab), but the food quality has increasingly deteriorated. The cold platter was good and the waiters very nice, but the rest of the meal was subpar. The crab cakes were very disappointing and the king crab platter was not worth 75 dollars. The crab was very salty, rather than sweet, and the cole slaw side is a miniscule condiment container. The atmosphere and views are great but at this point an over 300 dollar dinner is far too pricey for the quality. We are happy to spend that kind of money even eating on paper plates but the food is really not worthy anymore. It's a shame. read more

I adore this place. There's many cons to the many pros but as a general loved it. Loved Great outdoor/back area where you can play shuffle board, chill at a small rock park, FREE mini-golf to school your friends in. Small arcade section below. Great chill bartenders and wait staff (seriously, who lets us sit and chill at a table for 4 hours) Ok Food was just ok, nothing mind blowing. Clam chowder was pretty good, crab roll was equally good (except the mayo, could of skipped that). It's only ok because its slightly on the pricey side but overall enjoyed it. Bad Its. So. Far. Fiiiiinnally found my way over to Brooklyn Crab, and I've gotta say, judging by the reviews, I wasn't expecting anything great. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The food was really good! My party ordered a seafood platter, crab roll, clam chowder, crab legs, pulled chicken sandwich, mac & cheese, and everything I sampled was pretty tasty. When we were done eating, we went downstairs to play air hockey and corn hole, then hung out and sat by a few heaters (which were plentiful in numbers). Really awesome, unique place. A bit of a trek if you don't own a car, or want to pay for a cab- but I feel it's worth it. Where else can you eat outdoors on a deck with a view of Manhattan over the water and then head to the backyard to play cornhole and putt-putt golf?? My friend and I got there before the rest of our party so we sat at the bar to pass the time. We sat there for at least 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. It was hard to get the bar tenders attention again to order another drink and pay for our bill. But when we did get their attention, they were polite. The food was good, not great. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was a bit dry. It's served with BBQ sauce on the side, but I feel like it would just be a lot better if the BBQ was already mixed in. I had a bite of my friends crab roll, and that was really good. Our waitress was great (tall red head) and put up with a lot of crap as we were kind of a lively bunch, especially as the day went on the the drinks kept flowing. The menu was pretty mixed, they had some good drafts, and finger foods to choose from. I had the catfish which was good,and came with a side of collards and Mac. The bar has a couple of TV'S overlooking the water. The roof I'm told has a nice view. The frozen drinks were looking pretty good, I settled on a Belgian White that went very well with my meal. Went for two of our friends' birthdays and it was a great vibe/place for big groups. We were able to get a picnic table pretty easily when we got there around 2pm on Sunday. I arrived late for a farewell event, and we shuffled ourselves from the upstairs seating to the downstairs bar area. All I wanted was dinner at this point, and learned that you can only order oysters & shrimp (fried I think) at the bar. The trick is -- and it's only if you get the nice bartender -- to order food from the bar upstairs, come back when it's ready and then you can bring it downstairs. It's not technically allowed, so tip your bartender well. I personally wasn't going to order food & be anti-social, so was happy to bring my Crab Royale for one downstairs. The drinks are nice & strong. I loved the daiquiri's & pina colada's, and enjoyed the swirly green cups with long straws. I wanted to love this place, but honestly it's just not super convenient to get to without a car, and the food was just ok. Think I might have to visit once more, have a reservation for the tables upstairs and then re-assess. read more

We loved that there's plenty to do (mini golf, bar, raw bar, beer garden, etc) while waiting for a table and the seafood was fresh and delicious but the prices were high!!! The crab cake was perfectly seared but the market price was $38. Half dozen blue crabs market price was $42. The king crab roll was fresh but a little under whelming ($24). The fried shrimp basket $19 was awesome not just cause of price but it was perfectly battered and crispy. The daily oyster special was amazing ($33 for a dozen). The beergarita was pretty awesome as well! We loved that it felt like we were transported to Maryland with seaside and Statue of Liberty views. I would like to start of by saying: Joe's Crab Shack has nothing on Brooklyn Crab! (Or maybe because I haven't been to many seafood spots) My first time and definitely won't be my last time at this place was a few Sundays ago. My friend and I originally planned to go to Joe's but he saw this spot a few weeks back and wanted to try it - me on the other hand love trying new places as well (you never know if you don't try it right?). Not only this place is right in Brooklyn but right where there are other local (I'm sure) great restaurants too. I am willing to try each and everyone of them.  From the location, ambiance, vibe, crowd (very mixed crowd by the way - that I do love), to the food and drinks and of course the very reasonable prices.  It might be a little pricey for some but then again it's fresh seafoods - what do you expect? So worth it. The beverage I tried was the Rosemary Vodka Lemonade-yumm! Strong, good price and tasty. I had the lobster tacos and my friend had this huge platter (crab and lobsters and oysters)-sorta reminded me of The Bucket of Trash from Bubble Gum (if you've been there you'll know exactly what I'm talking about)-baically a combination of different seafoods in one platter/bucket. I tried some of his food and I should've had that (next time). I would definitely recommend this place for a large group, family (family-oriented), and a date with that special one.  They have outdoor seatings and indoors too -because it was during the summer time we sat on the deck - loved it. read more

I love this place, I've been twice. Once on a Saturday in the middle of summer and then this past Wednesday- when the weather was colder. Two different but great experiences. If you love cornhole and just games, generally, you'll love this place because it's super fun. The late June Saturday it was packed, not like Manhattan packed, but full - and we still had the opportunity to place games. Great location, a bit off the usual venues, great for a night out! Dinner here and then music and drinks in Sunnys Bar around the corner. You can see Manhatten and lady liberty from the roof terasse. We arrive around 8 ish and waited 30 mins for a table. was seated on a picnic table right by the busy stairs. my friend was worry they would spill something on her and believe or not one server did trip and spill food and almost hit my friend. that's not the cons here goes: Cons: service: Host had to check on us as our server was super busy, and still had to wait. meanwhile they sat another group sharing our picnic table and it seem they had their own personal server. Our food was forgotten, we were forgotten while 3 other tables were served and almost finished before we even got our food. by the time we got our appetizers (which consist of soups and raw oysters and some basic stuff) they were closed. (45 mins + wait and we had to ask about our food as the server was too busy, I blame this on management) Price: Bit pricey for the food except for the $1 oysters but yet they were tiny. I would love to review the food but as we were only able to get appetizers we didn't even have a full meal. so i can say the shrimp bucket was tasty but sharing with 2 other people because we were ignored sure doesn't fill anyone up. might be a nice place for a date for the view otherwise i'll go elsewhere. read more

We've gone to BK Crab three years in a row for my friend's birthday and we've always had an awesome experience up until last weekend. Here is the saga: we arrived at 12:30, right after the place opened, and started drinking right away. We ended up with about 15 people, all happily drinking and spending lots of our hard-earned money. Of course, drinking = need food, so we went to the bar on the ground level and tried to order fries. Nope, the downstairs bar said we can't order fries there. Try the upstairs bar. Fair enough, except that the upstairs bar says they're too busy and if we want food, we need to get a table. We wait ONE FULL HOUR for a table (and continue drinking and spending money in the meantime) and finally sit down and cannot wait to order our fried goodness. Waitress who shall not be named stops by and we order a big round of drinks. She comes by again and we start our food order; the first two of us order fries, the next two order fries and fried clam strips, and the waitress puts on a nasty face and asks if any of us are ordering entrees. We explained that we just wanted appetizers, drinks and a salad or two, and she said it's not their policy to allow people to sit at a table and not order entrees. We explained our situation and she began to argue with us and challenge our story and basically try to make us leave. At this point we're all yelling at each other so I quieted everyone down and explained that the downstairs bar told us that if we wanted appetizers, we had to go to the upstairs bar, and the upstairs bar proceeded to tell us that we had to get a table if we wanted to eat anything at all, so we did so. We weren't trying to screw anyone over. We were just trying to eat fries. That's all. Waitress storms off to get the manager, and then she and the manager storm back together to again explain that we're breaking the rules, it's not their policy, etc. etc. We said they have an issue with communication between bars and restaurant and the manager says they absolutely don't have an issue with communication. She was essentially arguing for the sake of arguing. At this point it's comical - we've wasted 10 minutes arguing. 10 important minutes that could've been spent putting our potatoes in the fryer so we could free up the table earlier. Finally, the manager oh-so-kindly allows us to stay at the table that we were forced into getting in the first place. Oh, and we are also allowed the great honor of ordering food at this food establishment. The light at the end of the tunnel is that sour-puss waitress was replaced by Kevin, a new waiter who was awesome and fun. We had a big birthday cake and Kevin got a piece because he was so awesome and fun. Two stars only because of Kevin (who deserves five stars himself). Go Kevin! read more

Delicious and great atmosphere. We went to ikea and decided to grab some lunch before going home. We heard about this place and decided to check it out. We were seated with no wait on a sunday afternoon but by the time we left there seemed to be a 20 min to be seated. We both got the crab roll and a beer with a shrimp cocktail appetizer. The shrimp were big and delicious! The crab roll was also very flavorful. We cant wait to go back for the dollar oysters on Mondays and Tuesdays. Need more tastings :) read more
