Okay; so this was a very hard review. For one; I didn't get what I ordered. I ordered chicken fettuccini Alfredo. What I got was Penne noodles covered in Alfredo sauce, and chicken. At first; I was surprised by the price $23 a plate for pasta? This had better be the best fettuccini Alfredo ever! However; I quickly realized that they serve you enough for 2 people. That definitely makes up for the cost and brings the price back down by half. So; was the dish good? Yes; on a scale of 4 out of 5, it was good. The biggest selling point in taste was the sauce. I was disappointed that they didn't use or have portobello mushrooms. Delicious!!! Love finding little gems when we travel and this is certainly one of them! Great evening of pizza, beer and axe throwing! Ordered 1/2 Brooklyn's Finest and 1/2 BBQ Chicken pizza, a dozen wings (medium) and salad-- they brought it next door (to the axe throwing room) where there was a great selection of beer on tap. As a northeast transplant, it's been a true struggle to find pizza that can hold a candle to my favorite shops back home, or even my LEAST favorite shops back home. For months, my wife and i felt like we'd never find anything close. But finally, during a drive to Irmo, we stopped into Brooklyn Express. It was truly a slice a home. The environment, the price and most of all the pizza. Had 2 slices of cheese pizza and a drink. (The special). My god! Real pizza at last! We will be back. Again and again. I am from NYC. I know pizza. This was a big disappointment. It was raw, like doughy raw. the outer edge was burnt but the middle was raw. We also had the advertised "fresh" fried mushrooms and broccoli cheese bites, these were not fresh but frozen from a food vendor, not good at all. When I asked for the sauce that comes with the mushrooms (ranch) the girl at the counter just looked at me like "Huh?" they gave me marinara sauce I waited a couple days to write this review, thought about it and realized that I threw away $56.00 on sub par pizza, it literally went into the garbage, all of it...I wish it could have been better. Momma Mia! I've been here a few times and I have yet to be disappointed. The staff is always in bright spirits and very attentive. I love the two slice special which includes a drink. Very good pizza for SC and especially in downtown Columbia. Ordering online was a breeze and the order was accurate although they did put complimentary jalepenos on hubby's side of the pizza with the cherry peppers that he did order and that was a nice touch. The 16 inch is a good size to order for two. The pizza was ready promptly and the cashier was really nice. I am not really a fan of oregano on pizza but this works cause they do not put too much. Ate here about a week ago. Most assuredly different under new ownership. Rje pizza is ok but not as good as previous owners. Maybe the crust is little different not much sauce either. The reheat of the pizzas that you have to choose is not very warm or melting of the cheese I do miss the previous owners read more

Having moved here from NY/NJ area we weren't expecting decent pizza in SC. HOWEVER, Brooklyn Express in Irmo, SC was a wonderful surprise. Their Margherita Pizza was one of the best ever even comparing pizzas from NY/NJ area. Generous mozzarella, caramelized onion with basil and fresh sauce on top of a perfectly yummy thin crispy crust. Brooklyn Express is AMAZING. We have had pizza here (2 slice and a drink special is on point!) but our absolute fave is the pizza rolls. My husband and I spent the day together for our anniversary a few months back and we went to Brooklyn Express. We split a Philly Cheesesteak roll and got the garlic bread (w/ cheese....of course). We were so full we could hardly stand it. THEN - they brought us a fried cheesecake because it was our anniversary. They are the nicest and seriously have the best pizza this side of Brooklyn. read more

I've given this place two trys. First time was just a doughy pizza. Deff not a New York style pizza. I made sure to ask for thin crust also. Today came again. Just tried to keep it simple with just cheese and some garlic knots. The garlic knots are good just was cold, and the pizza super disappointing. I asked for extra crispy, I got extra oil and a little burnt on the back but still not crispy still flimsy. Owner and the older cook super nice. Friendly. Just need to work on the pizza quality. NYC Pizza. That's what you get here. It's done right and it's done awesome. When u think NYC pizza you think a large slice you can fold with one hand and eat on your feet. It has a thin crust that is crunchy and chewy at the same time. You got your slice in one hand and your paper plate in the other, and do a head tilt as you go in for a bite. It leaves a puddle of reddish orange grease on your plate that can be mistaken later for a kid's classroom art project. If that's what your looking for, this is where you'll find it. Don't come here thinking your gonna get pizza hut or domino's... that's commercial pizza. This is the real authentic NYC stuff right here. Don't forget to pick up an order of garlic knots if your lucky enough to get some while their in stock. People love em and they run out cause they're that good. I come here as often as I can and my body allows. If you come at a busy time, expect a wait. That's how it is everywhere. Everyone is a diva nowadays and thinks they come first, and snap your fingers for what you want, when you want, and how you want... wake up folks, it don't work that way. This place is great and you won't be the only one there on a Friday and Saturday night! Don't get your panties in a bunch because they don't serve up food as quickly as Mickey D's. As a Bostonian, I was trying to find some authentic pizza instead of a chain. Read the reviews and thought I would give it a try. $26 for a large pizza and I couldn't finish one slice. Not sure what type of sauce they used, but it was awful. Nothing like I have ever tasted before, certainly never in Brooklyn/NY/Boston. The employees were very nice. But I would rethink the sauce you are using. May be a one off and if I went back, it might be better. But sad I am throwing away a $26 pizza after one slice. This is a nice little family run pizza a pasta joint that has great quality, service, good portions and flavor. I had a calzone that was big enough for two (lunch tomorrow), my daughter had the stuff shells, one grandson had the wings and the other had a small pizza that was big enough for two. I don't understand why the wings were so expensive, though. I heard there was a shortage, but 12 for $18 is a little crazy. Being a yankee transplant from New York I want to start by saying Brooklyn Express is an absolutely authentic NY pizza place. The crust is perfect, completely traditional. The sauce is amazing right down ro obscene amounts of garlic. When the crust is right and the sauce is right everything falls into place. Columbia has been missing true NY style pizza and being a self professed pizza snob I will say this place nails it. If you want something truly unique give the stuffed pizza a try. It's huge and thick and outstanding. We've been twice now. First visit were ate in house. Great food, great service. Second visit was takeout and although the pizza was amazing the service was very slow. It was Halloween night and storming and they were beyond busy. Most place average one or two pieces per slice, but this one has way more! It also had a nice thick layer of cheese on it and a good amount of sauce. Their dough was very good too. Finally!!! I have arrived. I have read and read the reviews. I ordered my pizzas for carry out. I arrived and had to wait a little longer. No biggie. I had a funny conversation with the son I assume. Younger boy running the cash register. We had a funny moment when my cc would run through. He had to plug it it and said "what does no dial tone mean?"...I got a good laugh and we talked about how long long ago...we had dial up. Back to the food. So I ordered 3 small pizzas. Pepperoni, Brooklyn's Finest and the primavera. I ordered the pepperoni for my kids. The pepperoni was generous, the sauce has a little spiciness to it, obviously my kids had no problem. My husband had the Brooklyn's finest. It was absolutely delicious, very very generous with the toppings. The toppings are actually a perfect size for a pizza. I am talking about bite ratio. Where you take a bite and literally half your toppings are dragged off and onto the floor. Not these pizzas. The toppings are perfect bite size. If you are a fan of a "supreme" pizza I recommend this one. Another delicious tip about this pizza is, once you bite a piece, you first taste the freshness of the sauce and the a little sweetness hits your palate. It is very pleasing. Not too acidic or bitter. Very smooth sauce. My pizza the Primavera, a veggie like pizza, was absolutely delicious, filled generously with toppings. Here is the sweet kicker. So I was a little worried about eggplant on my pizza , to me eggplant is mushy. HELLO PEOPLE....get ready for this....there were small squares of sweetly fried eggplant crunchies on the pizza. They were so yummy!!!!! So if you choose to visit this sweet pizza joint. Enjoy watching the family hustle back and forth, no one sits idle.
