Hertz Agent First name I believe Mike, last name not provided. During the week of July 19th I attempted on four different occasions to rent a car from Hertz within the Kansas City, Mo area by going on the Hertz App and making my bookings / reservations. Despite receiving confirmation of reservations for each of the bookings, each morning I would be contacted via text message, canceling the confirmed reservations made. With slated pick up at Hertz Car Rental located at the Westin Hotel, KCMO. Finally, after the third day of having my reservations canceled, I decided to book at a different Hertz location, so I choice Hertz Lee's Summit, located on East Langsford Road. Again my rental was confirmed via a confirmation email. So a 35 USD uber ride off to the location I go, only to be met by this disheveled, face and neck covered in either prison or gang tattoos, missing teeth so when he spoke spit continuously flew freely from his mouth. As a tiered Hertz Member with over 50 nights of car rentals with Hertz alone for just the first half of 2026, I must say that I was somewhat taken aback by the less than polished appearance that you grow to expect from Hertz employees. But not wanting to judge a book by it's cover I observed without comment. Without asking how could he help me, or saying good afternoon, He asked very LOUDLY if I was doing an insurance rental? To which I stated no. I gave him my name / confirmation Number to which he replied: You don't show, you have a rental here. Yes, I understand that the grammar used there is incorrect, but this was exactly what and how he said it. He then would spend the next 3 to 5 minutes searching the system, while searching the system he was talking to himself I guess about "this not being his store, that his store was in gladstone MO, that he was just filling in because the lady called out" again not sure whom he was referring this information too, but maybe he just had a need to say something, I'm not sure. He then said full-size car that I was confirmed for at $231 for the week wasn't available, even though there were plenty of full-size cars visible right there on the lot, I didn't say anything as perhaps those vehicles were pre reserved. He would then state that he would put me in an Infinity Q something, but the price would now be almost $400 mind you each time that he spoke SPIT was flying everywhere, so I did my best to mind my distance and tried to limit as much as I could, even the need of Juicy Mouth Mike having to speak at all. But when I simply questioned the difference in price from what was confirmed, the Spiting employee really had a lot to say, at that point SPIT was flying at a rate that was hard to dodge completely. The Employee I believe name Mike became very GANGSTER like in his demeanor, and stated that if I didn't want the car, then I could go elsewhere. To which I stated, I have no choice but to continue with this rental. Mike then like a Jack n the BOX bounced up from his chair, coming around his desk Spitting while telling me to get out of his store that he wasn't going to rent to me because, all i was going to do was to leave him a bad review, he was saying this over and over as he quickly walked towards the entry / exit door, and yes SPITTING with each word spoken. As I followed him outside of the office, he would quickly stop in his tracks, spin around to YELL in a threatening manner, while taking an aggressive physical stance "You had better stop following me" it was very clear that Mike had become unhinged, and yes It pains me to say that, I think it was between him trying to say Stop & Following that I would take a direct hit right in the face from this flying spit. Now of course anyone witnessing this type of behavior would intimidate. As for me, I mean I wasn't really intimidated as much as I was frighten not by his unprofessional behavior / meltdown, no I was terrified to death of the spit that was freely flying from his mouth landing on me yet again. But me being who I am, I couldn't help but to push back verbally at his attempt to assert dominance over me, at this point Mike quickly shifted his demeanor and became the victim and stated that he was telephoning the police to have me escorted off the property, he then stormed back into the office leaving me outside in the safety of being out of range from the arsenal of spit that I had just witnessed. At this point I ordered an uber, while waiting for the uber arrival the Lee's Summit Police showed up and was totally professional about the entire incident. So back in the Uber by this time the fair for the return was $40 so I spent $75 dollar and the only thing I had to show for it was Toothless Mike spit flying at me. In the mean time they sent me over to Hertz to pick up a newer model fiesta to use for work and school until I got my car back. The inside of the store could use some dusting and cleaning, but the staff were really attentive and friendly. Thanks again Ford and Hertz for working together to ensure my satisfaction during a stressful time! Also, Silly me ended up forgetting my garage door opener inside the borrowed Fiesta but they kindly handed it over to a service Rep in Ford to wait for me. There were no other customers in the store, we asked if he could help us with finding another store that could meet our needs & he stated,"We don't have Wi-Fi!". So rude & hateful, it disgusted me he works in customer service! I'm thankful for the ladies at this location, they were a pleasure to work with & we bought 2 beautiful recliners! He said about 200 miles which is not even close. Finding Tesla charging stations is a nightmare. So, I called and asked to have the car swapped when I got back from my first business trip. I was told no cars were available but call back and over the weekend. Again, no cars. Called again on Monday and finally, we can swap you out. Drive over to the facility after fully charging the Tesla only to be told I now need to pay more money. What a joke!!! I took it back to Budget and she threatened that because I hadn't closed the contract at Avis, I would be charged for every moment that the car sat on her lot at Budget. I tried to get the keys back from her and she wouldn't give them back, she even closed the sliding door on my face when I insisted she give me back the keys. Completely unprovoked, she escalated our exchange to an aggressive state that I haven't experienced before with a person in a customer service position. I even considered calling the police because she withheld a key for a vehicle she said was still in my possession. It resolved with her doing her job and accepting the car and closing the contract - but this was after an hour of driving back and forth between Budget and Avis on Noland Rd. It was so unnecessary.
