This review is for my favorite Brooklyn Industries location on Broadway located in Brooklyn, NYC. Brooklyn Industries has been around for years and as a big fan I've been to every location. This is their last location that remains open. By the time I post this review it may be closed too! I've used their bags as long as my daughter and I have lived in Manhattan. They also had a factory located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Like the other cool brands they are closing all their stores. Their website is great at showcasing their usual styles we have come to love. Please shop online if you want a local business for handbags and accessories. When I got my first Manhattan job my daughter suggested I purchase a messenger bag to carry daily to work. She was familiar with the Brooklyn Industries brand. We went off to the store. They had walls full of bags. I carried that messenger bag so many years I couldn't look at it anymore. It had a lot of use left in it. I highly recommend the Brooklyn Industries traditional messenger bags. After a while they developed a new style of bag. My daughter and I got on a kick again and purchased a couple bags each. I found the quality deteriorated. The edges tore and colors of the material rubbed off with little wear. When a bag is $75.00 I expect a longer wear. When I saw the bags were not being made in Brooklyn I was sad. I still have one that's brand new. I'm keeping it as a Vintage keepsake. The style was very popular and it's comfortable to carry. It's got a lot of room inside and the pockets are in front. Outside pockets are one of my requirements to easily access my keys and metro card. I'm sorry we are losing the brick and mortar of this historic company. I'm sure you can get nice messenger bags online. I've checked out their website. Don't forget to read the labels. The messenger bags are a tourist favorite. read more

Brooklyn industries sold their bags with a lifetime warranty. Now under new ownership they will NOT honor the guarantee. This is ridiculous. If you buy from a business that guaranteed a warranty you are grandfathered in for that item. Consumer paid a premium for the bags because of the lifetime warranty. DO NOT buy anything from Brooklyn Industries because the item will tear or break very soon after purchase & Brooklyn Industries will do nothing to help repair or replace. ZERO STARS read more

This review is for the company and not a specific store location. This company is awful. They are crooks and completely unprofessional. It is no wonder their business has suffered and they have had to close many locations. I purchased $100 worth of t-shirts as holiday gifts online for my family. After I purchased them I received an email stating I was being refunded for one t-shirt because it wasn't in stock. They need to fix their website so costumers don't buy items that are not in stock. I asked the company if they would wave shipping on a new order for one new t-shirt. The we're going to charge me $13 for shipping for one shirt, AND after I spent $100 and now had one less t-shirt to give as a present which was the company's fault. I must have been out of my mind because I spent the money for the new order with the overpriced shipping. $43 for a t-shirt! Keep in mind I live in Brooklyn. The shipping cost is outrageous. I received the items and one of the shirts was too small. They wouldn't refund me for it because it was on sale. If I was allowed to return it they would have charged me shipping! Plus the quality of the cotton is awful. Cheap and thin. This was a complete waste of money and time. This is not how you run a successful business. Brooklyn Industries will soon be out of of business guaranteed. read more

This is the "outlet" of BI and though the prices aren't necessarily outlet style, they do offer some great deals. For example, buy 3 sale items get 2 free. Great. I was with my friend and she had 4 items had 1 - we did the math, my new aqua blue/green dress perfect for a spring wedding = $40. To be honest I feel good about that price, I would have never bought it for the original $100 price tag which was completely over priced. The store itself is pretty small and I absolutely hated the dressing rooms with the "curtain" that didn't close all the way. Overall a solid spot and if you're in the area definitely check it out, not necessarily worth going out of the way for unless you absolutely love BI clothing/bags and that's your jam. read more

An outlet...for hip clothes? I thought the idea was spending $300 on jeans with holes...that someone else ripped? Does not compute. I kid, hipsters, I kid. Oh mama this store is pretty awesome. I was looking at apartments in the Williamsburg area, and just didn't feel cool enough to live in any of them. That was when I decided I had to go native. I bit the bullet. I bought some jean shorts. I mean, jorts. I would never buy jean shorts. Be serious. That said, I am something of an outerwear collector, and given that it isn't exactly the season for winter coats, and this is an outlet, I may have purchased a sicknasty jacket for next to nothing. Let's see you call me a yuppie now, you awesomely minimalist loft dwelling bastards! (As for the ambiguity in that sentence given the shortcomings of the English language, let me make it clear that the apartment itself is awesomely minimalist, not necessarily the denizens. I see your Aveda shampoo, faux scruffy guy.) The only downside of this place is that because it's an outlet, it doesn't necessarily have the vastest of collections. You could probably thoroughly browse everything in menswear in fifteen minutes or so. read more

I had high hopes for this place is which probably why I was a little disappointed by it. It's in the ghetto part of brooklyn right near peter lugers. You come here for steak or cheap BKI clothes, that's it. The store itself had a modest selection of men/women/accessories. I guess, coming from CA, when I heard the word "outlet", I had visions of a huge warehouse full of all kinds of stuff. Prices were decent and the staff are super friendly. I went to the BKI store on Lafayette later in the afternoon and they seemed to have a lot of the same sale items at the same prices as the outlet store, so I prob won't be trekking to brooklyn for this store again anytime soon. read more

I love Brooklyn Industries. I think that would likely be the main reason for me to head back to the Marcy Avenue stop anytime in the foreseeable future. Tucked in next to Peter Luger's, you can find Brookyln Industries. But not just any store (I submitted to have this revised...) - their OUTLET! Aw yeah. I was pleased to find they had quite a lot of clothing there and a lot of what they had either was currently in the store (with a hefty reduction in price, I might add) or must have just barely rotated out. I snagged a long tee/dress that was originally $69ish for $19. Love that reduction! There was a lot there available from $19-$39. Half of the store was women's - half men's. They had a few bags too (not a ton). Definitely worth trying out if you're a fan of their clothing! Sometimes outlet stores are a let down, but this one did not disappoint! read more

Where do I even start. This place is gold. Men's, women's , baby and even toddler apparel. And fantastic accessories! Fantastic winter coats out now for around $90 to sample fashion wear for only $10! Wonderful corner location! I got one of a kind winter leather gloves (I know I know it's summer and 95 out) for only $10. Anything from super casual to business chic will be in here just waiting for you. Brooklyn Industries - Huge sale right now everything from baby clothes to messenger bags - Men's Clothing Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

If you dig Brooklyn Industries, this would seem like the place to go. It is, but with a few caveats. The outlet's clothes run a little bit more out of season than your average outlet. There are a lot of items I've seen from stores over two years ago. That said, there are some deals to be had. In the men's dept, it tends to be mostly pants and t-shirts. There isn't a huge selection of buttoned up shirts and accessories, but I guess you get what you pay for. And a lot of the clothes arent at a huge discount. Maybe 15-20% off the rack rate, which isn't a huge savings given how out of season it is. You get lucky when you happen to find the one size left of a specific item and it's 50% off. I guess that's what makes it worth the visit. read more

In March I popped into this shop while killing time in Williamsburg. I saw some really cool stuff! I tried a few things on and almost bought a very cool silk blend blouse that fit my committment to only buy colors that look good on me and that I do not own. Unfortunately the guilt of not having any income AND the slight stain on the blouse put me off. The items in this store are SAMPLES and while most are in 100% perfect condition some have seen a bit of wear. Prices generally reflect this wear though. I spent a fair amount of time in the store for someone who bought nothing. I had an EXCELLENT conversation with Ashley who allowed me to leave my backback behind the counter while I checked out the rest of the area for the afternoon. When I returned Ashley gave me some recommendations to grab dinner before I took the bus back home to Boston...all 4 of her recommends sounded great and I took her up on one...hit happy hour at Paladar on Ludlow. Thanks Ashley - I appreciate your graciousness! I definately recommend this store to someone who is looking for that hip Brooklyn based design. Prices seem fair, selection is great, location is perfect - near enough at the foot of the bridge - and most importantly the customer service is top notch. (just for clarity, I don't expect store managers to act as chambers of commerce, but the graciousness and kindness I experienced will bring me back and have me recommeding this store to others I know!) read more

This is the Outlet of BI and they were having an addl 50% off sale while the regular stores were going addl 30%. They have older season stuff but it still cute. Checked it out while i was waiting for Peter Luger's. It's a little cramp and you have to look for your size all over. Not that bad though read more

How'd I just leave with $175 worth of clothes for $97? It's an OUTLET BABY, YEAHHHH. Granted, a lot of great stuff wasn't in my size, and the overstuffed racks made for some awkward browsing. But the discount at the register was worth it. Staff was super nice to boot. I'll be back soon! read more

Fell in love with this store. Loved the styles, loved the originality of a lot of their products, loved that it's all local. If you like Brooklyn Industries, this store has their stuff at a discount. The selection is hit-or-miss (which is true with any outlet), but I've scored some great deals here. That said, I've seen a lot of sale items at regular BKI stores at the same prices as the outlet items. And the dressing room is pretty crappy. read more

Not very friendly staff, the Spanish guy with rings at the register was a bit condescending when asked about the men's sale rack. The girl with the tattoos was not any better. It seems like the manager needs to send both of them to be train n how to greet and welcome customers. I guess they act like that because they are the outlet store so they don't really care about customer service. read more

I'm not the biggest fan of this place. Their clothes are cute, but you can get comparable clothes at Forever 21 for a third of the price, or you can go to Urban Outfittters and get stuff that's the same price but three times as nice. If I'm in the area and spilled wine on my shirt or something, I'll pop in and get something new. Then I'll be annoyed that I overpaid by about $30 for a cheap quality shirt, albeit one that will look cute that very night (afterwards, it is likely to shrink in the laundry). read more
