Tried this place for the first time and was pleased with the pizza. You can order whole pizzas, as well as slices. I got the (I can't remember the name of it) honey with pepperoni and ricotta square pizza. It was so good. The other style of pizza looked too thin and I was worried it would be too greasy. I also got a small salad and it was very filling and delicious. The service was decent. The worker was able to answer any questions I had. There is NO seating inside so be aware of that. It's a grab and go type in spot. There's a small bar top along the wall that you stand and eat your food at. My coworkers did this as we weren't aware of the no seating. It worked out as there weren't many others who came in during that time or it could've gotten really cramped. Definitely willing to try this place out again. Brooklyn Squares has a monopoly on edible square pizza in Downey. Tried the Spicy Pepperoni Honey Deniro square and it was surprisingly good. When I say surprisingly, I don't mean to intend I figured it'd be bad, just the spice was surprising. If you're like me, millions of places serve things under the label of spicy and in reality, they consider a dash of pepper spicy so you're left with the unfulfilled itch of wanting to ingest something with some actual heat. Glad to announce, the spicy here was actually spicy. Flavorful sauce, good amount of cheese, topped with pepperoni, ricotta and a drizzle of honey, which I'm not a huge fan of this trend, but it ain't bad. It's not enough to ruin everything that's under the drizzle. Especially the crust - it's super yummy! Also tried a regular thin crust slice of the meat lovers pizza - good, greasy, salty, cheesy. Would probably not order again as one square slice was enough food to satisfy my big back. I did notice a lack of vegetarian slices readily available during my visit. Saw a picture of a spinach ricotta slice but they didn't have any during my visit. Wish they also offered a white pie - typically white sauce, cheese and ricotta. Thin slice pizza place staple if you ask me but sadly missing from here. You got the ricotta and cheese! You guys can do it! Spinach ricotta description is more or less the white pie but... spinach on pizza... nah. Service was OK - nothing huge, asked a few questions, got some answers, paid and that's it. Cashier was cool. It seemed to be more of a grab and go, which was expected, but a pizza by the slice place also offers some expectation that I'll be able to eat a slice at the establishment and it just wasn't really built for that. Bar isn't wide enough to even place your pizza box on it, hangs off. I don't recall if we were asked if we were dining in or taking to go, so maybe that was our fault! Had we said, dining in, maybe would've gotten our individual slices on our own plates but it didn't feel like that was an option - I'll ask next time and confirm! Price is honestly pretty reasonable - for 3 people, I paid $32. Got 3 squares, and 2 thin slices so almost a full pizza. Priced at around $10/person is great and appreciated - times are tough. Location is OK, small plaza so good amount of parking, but also pretty busy, just need to be aware of your surroundings a bit. Overall, was a good enough experience to want to come back! Brooklyn has been a place I've wanted to try for a while. I decided to go for lunch ; I wasn't aware it was a pick up and go type of place there is no seating. The restaurant is really nice especially being New York inspo and culture to Cali. The prices are really good as well my boyfriend and I got about 4 slices for a decent price. The pizza themselves there's a good amount of options. And the flavor is really good. I think because of so many option that you can receive as slices is good in a sense but it has its cons. They pizza were sitting out for a bit but they heat it up for you . I think that's were things got tricky cause silicon type square pizza is hard to warm up ; cause my pizza wasn't hot put it tasted really good. I also had a buffalo chicken pizza which I thought tasted really good but before I finish the pizza I notice the like grease film on the buffalo sauce likes it's been sitting for a while and unfortunately I didn't want to finish it. For context I'm not a big fan of New York style pizza so I ordered different menu items because I still wanted to give this place a try. I ordered a Classic Reuben (hot), they also have the option to get a New York style Reuben which has coleslaw inside rather than sauerkraut. To me it was pretty average, personally it didn't have any wow factor but brownie points for them not being shy with the pastrami. You do get a decent size sandwich for $14 but it was a difficult to eat and quite messy. The garlic knots were good. The mozzarella balls are good. Wait wow! Good pizza on this side of town finally!!!!!! As soon as I walked in I could tell this was gonna hit. But when I got my order and took my first bite...the crunch!!!! And the taste. Omg. I got the spicy pepperoni square which wasn't that spicy but it was delicious! I also got the pepperoni ricotta Deniro something like that. It was so good! They both had hot honey I believe but it wasn't overly sweet. This is a solid pizza place. Went here to try their New York style pizza after reading about it and was happy I did it. It's only a takeout and not a very big space, we ordered a large pepperoni. I constantly look for good pizzerias or slice shops around the 562 area, as they are few and far between. I found out about this place perusing Yelp. Last night, I decided to give it a try. With a name like "Brooklyn Square", you best believe my expectations are high. I go to NYC twice a year and have had the best of the best there. I don't necessarily expect it to stack up against the best there, but if it does a decent enough job, I'll be satisfied. I ended up ordering a plain slice (cheese), as that's the standard, and a pepperoni Square (I had to get a Square, right?). What I liked about this pizzeria is that it uses Grande mozzarella. That's the cream of crop when it comes to mozz. Already, they're on the right path. I also really liked the decor of this pizza shop. It gives off NYC vibes and I love that. It's in an unassuming area, right next to a Chinese take-out spot. If that doesn't remind me of Brooklyn and NYC, I'm not sure what does. The pepperoni square was decent. The part I enjoyed the most was the sauce. It was thick and a little sweet. What I wasn't a huge fan of was their hot honey baked into the pizza. It was overpowering and didn't let the other ingredients shine as much. When I ordered this slice, I didn't realize it had hot honey in it. I, personally, think hot honey is overrated on pizza. I wish they had a savory version of this slice. I would've enjoyed that one much better. This slice reminded me of a place in NYC called "Village Square Pizza", and that's a compliment. I also enjoyed the cheese slice. The basil baked into the cheese was a good addition. I prefer a thinner foundation but that's just preference. My one critique of the cheese slice was how thin and small the actual crust (edge of the pizza) was. It was almost hidden. I enjoy eating the crust as it's the part of the pizza that really shows off how good your dough is. Unfortunately, it just tasted like hard bread. If Brooklyn Square really wants to take their pizza to the next level, they should consider making a thicker, more airy crust with a pillowy interior. Aside from that, I'm glad I went here and gave it a try. I'll be going back again to give it another try soon. The garlic knots had my name written all over them. Okay, hear me out. Imagine Costco sized pizza (18" inch for the round pies), but fancier and with a lot more options/customizations! When I heard this pizza spot was opening up a new location in Downey (their original location is in Pasadena), I knew I had to try it while I was in the area. So I decided to pick up one of their pizzas, but I couldn't decide between a few different flavors, luckily they do 1/2 & 1/2 pizzas even with different sauces! I love when pizza places do that and I was so happy that I did do that, because our household was equally split between which one they preferred. We got the Vodka sauce (my personal favorite), and the tomato base (also very good) on the other half. It was heavier than I imagined (but in a good way), the only way I can explain it easily is an upscale Costco pizza, and everyone I know loves Costco pizza, so if you're in that boat and want something more elevated, than this if for you. The service was very fast, they had the pizza ready a couple minutes before this sated time, on a Friday night too! The ambiance was charming, but it seemed more like a to-go place. They also have individual slices, but they only have one size pizza. However, they do also offer Square pizzas which are a different size and a little fluffier, I definitely want to come back and try that at some point as well. If you're in the area or passing through and like a good pizza spot, I would definitely recommend giving this a try! BBQ wings we're rich and tasty and mild wings had just a touch of spice so if you need zero spice they have a little. Would order all again hands down. Price is average for quality food. Girl at the register greeted me, super helpful during ordering, and very attentive as we contemplated what to get. Came here for the first time on Thursday and was back there on Sunday! I love their pizza. We tried the hot honey square pizza and the New York pepperoni. They were both delicious. Tasted fresh and made with love. The New York style crust is thin but has some bite to it. My husband's favorite was the square honey pizza. It had a ticket crust, nice crunch. toppings were so tasty! the little dollop of cheese on top was the bomb! I came to this place vesterdav because I saw it on Instagram. I got the regular pepperoni slice, the grandma pepperoni, fried ravioli, and lemon pepper wings. They also gave me some garlic bread. I can say the pizza was really good. The lemon pepper wings were mediocre; they didn't have much flavor besides a peppery taste. Good pizza spot! They replaced Leslie's Pizzeria, which we really liked! They got rid of one of our favorite pizzas but still have some of the others. The pizza was good, with great flavor on the dough. I wish it would come crispier though. We usually heat it up on our pizza stone in the oven to get it how we like. So happy Brooklyn Square opened up in Downey! It's tucked into a small shopping center on Imperial Hwy, but don't let the location fool you -- this place is a total gem. The pizza is incredibly good. You can taste how fresh the ingredients are, and the prices are honestly kind of shocking for the quality -- super reasonable. I tried the pasta too and it was amazing. Huge portions, rich flavor, and definitely something you can split or take home for leftovers. They really don't skimp on anything. The shop itself is pretty small, no place to sit, just a pick up and go. I got there around 6 pm and it was pretty packed. Pick up took about 10-15 mins after arrival. The online check in process is a bit unorganized due to how crowded and busy it was and it was somewhat difficult to get a staffs members attention. It was my first time trying this place and wasn't sure where to go for online orders since there's no sign indicating. I followed another pick up order who went straight to the back and called for a worker. Interaction with worker was very nice and polite. Service - 3/5. As for the pizza, flavor was great, very sweet. However, i selected "well done - crispy" option, and it didn't come out that way. The middle was doughy, which was disappointing. I saw this on my IG page, HAD to go... since eating pizza in NYC killed pizza for me here... so to find a NYC style pizza nearby was just what I had been waiting for. There is no dining in, I mean you could but there is no chairs and it gets very busy from what I saw and you wouldn't be able to stand there eating comfortably , while surrounded by people trying to order or waiting for their order. The cashier just looked like she didn't want to be there to be honest. Place is very small, not a sit down restaurant. Pizza slices get reheated as they are ordered, wish I had known. Pizza was very dry and tasted very bland. The most disappointing part was the cheese it was so dry and hard. I could only eat half of it and they also cut the slice in half, never had that done before. Saw a lot of social media marketing going back to when the Pasadena location first opened never had a chance to go to the original. I was in the area and said why not? I've been pretty obsessed with pizza. The last five years I've spent trying different spots around LA and OC and my pallet has definitely upgraded. I can't really eat Domino's or Pizza Hut anymore. I had a slice of pepperoni New York style and a Sicilian style De Niro. The De Niro was a four out of five pizza delicious I love the crusted edges the burrata or some sort of fancy cheese on top of the mozzarella and then the pepperoni cups are always awesome so they did a good job there. I would actually come back to order a full version of that fresh because it's almost guaranteed to be a five out of five pie. Unfortunately, The thin sliced pepperoni was mid at best. Nothing special about it, barely a tier above Domino's and Costco. I wouldn't spend my money on it again, stick to the square pies. read more

Since we found out about Brooklyn Square, we have been visiting it almost on a weekly basis. They offer a variety of delicious pizzas and sandwiches. I am huge fan of their buy a slice and they warm it up. It gives me a chance to try more than one flavor at a time...love it! So far, everything I have tried has been incredible!
