Totally disappointed in the service I received this evening, Saturday 12/14 about 5:20pm. Walked in with my husband and the woman (hair was in a twist out looking style with a hat on) barely acknowledged us the first 6 seconds we were there. I literally had to walk up to her for her to say anything. You would think walking into a business and someone that is behind a counter a few feet from the entrance would acknowledge your presence. That already had my eyebrow raised. Still I proceeded to look at what goodies they had. I asked for the banana pudding and told this rude and inconsiderate person that I'd take two. I then got a couple more bakery items and a cookie. then I went to the counter to pay. When she told me the balance I was looking at the chalkboard to the left of the register where the prices were. Instead of this person asking me what size in the banana pudding I wanted she just threw in the larger size. I asked her if the smaller size was available and she tells me that it's not because it's sold to other businesses (as if that's an excuse to use for this person not giving me the option to choose if I'd take the available size or not). After I was done she handed my card back to me saying "here you go" and walked off to help someone else. So dismissive and disgusting. I also noticed she happily greeted another customer that came in. I won't say that I won't patronize this bakery again because I love their banana pudding and mini sweet potato pies. I will say when I do choose to come back if she's in there I'll pass. There were some cookies and brownies on display as soon as I walked in and I wish things were presented a tad bit better, because first glance it seemed like there weren't many options. Upon full inspection, there were some other pasties and they also have ice cream, but still minus a star for presentation. When I enter a bakery or other sweets spot, I expected to see a display case sprawled out with treats, this wasn't the case. They never seem to be open during the day or at least always have a "we'll be back soon" sign. I pass it daily and struggle. When you are lucky enough to make it in, service is lack luster. You have to beg to be spoken to, let alone attempt to ask questions. If you make it past inquiring what flavors of cupcakes etc and settle on one -- guess what "they are reserved or sold to someone else" no apologies, no we'll have some more in an hour (you're a bakery, baking new batches should be a reasonable expectations). If you get through all that and manage to find them open (during the day), a flavor you want, patience to deal with the attitude. Cupcake was just blah, apple pie was old...... At that time it was called Cake Joy. Once I heard about the location I called so many times, but no answer. I called on different days and different times... still could not get through. So after work one evening I walked over there... CLOSED!!!!! I was pissed!!! Turns out they were transitioning to their new location and name as you see above. A week later I was finally able to taste the deliciousness. The first thing that caught my attention was the names and flavors of the cupcakes..... It made me want to try it, once I tried it....... LOCKED IN!! The dough was so light, and rich in flavor, most places let the icing do all the talking... BSS let the icing do the talking and the dough did the walking! Check out the website, they have so many different flavors, I honestly feel like there is not a Cupcake in the joint that will not please your palette. My daughter wanted to try this place a month or two ago and since then we have become regulars! She loves the cupcakes! They are so delicious. I don't eat sugar but I can smell and see how delicious they are. I have a very powerful nose. This place is the real deal. In addition they are friendly. They will sit and have a nice long chat with costumers. The baker serves costumers as well and engaged in a lovely conversation with me on how to get my daughter to eat vegetables. I've been coming to this bakery since it was called CakeJoy two doors down. The owner is the sweetest lady in the world, but it's not just the customer service that I come back for. These cupcakes are the best cakes ever. They're big enough to share, the frosting is always so creamy and yummy, the cake is always moist, and if you get a cupcake with alcohol in it, you will taste it! I love that there are new flavors to try every single day and I wish I could get text alerts for the flavor of the day but that might be a bit much lol. I get boxes of her cupcakes for every single occasion: birthdays, thank you gifts, break up presents, first date dessert options, you name it, I will find a reason to come here and everyone loves them. WOW! I've had plenty of desserts in my time but I may have reached the promised land. This is a new place near my Job and finally someone gets it right. The main selling point seems to be the cupcakes so lets start there, moist, good texture with good flavor that's not overly sweet. The butter cream frosting is ridiculous, especially the chocolate. I must stress that this is the best cupcake I've had so far, a very tough act to follow. Other highlights are the Honey Vanilla Cheesecake and cheesecake brownies were so good. I happened to walk in on a whim after getting food nearby. I bought a strawberry cupcake and a chocolate one and some banana pudding. The cupcakes were amazing and the banana pudding was great as well. My only negative about the experience was allergen information. I asked whether they had any desserts that didn't have eggs for allergy reasons and the clerk suggested banana pudding, however when I got it home I realized it had vanilla wafer crackers which do have eggs.
