Books Bar is like no other in Tahoe. Views, wonderful atmosphere, great food and a staff that wants to make your visit a good one. We had the turkey sandwich (fabulous) the smoked dry rubbed wings and the Poki Ahi tuna and of course drinks . All delicious! What was so nice is that the manager came around and checked on tables and was so knowledgeable about the food at all of the Edgewood restaurants along with suggestions on Items we might like at dinner. We were looking for a place for a late lunch snack and drink and were glad to find Brook's Bar on Yelp. It is basically the 19th hole on the golf course. You can walk out their back door and touch Lake Tahoe. So needless to say it is a beautiful location. The interior is also up to snuff with lots of beautiful wood and comfy chairs. Very lodgey feeling, but also modern with toms of flat screen TV's. We had the fries to start. They were crisp and not greasy. The dipping sauces were unique and a nice compliment to the fries. I had the mahi mahi tacos and highly recommend them. They are right up there with my favorite fish tacos in Houston. Fresh firm, flakey fish and a delicious sauce. The staff is fun and friendly and allowed us to make our own drink. Ask them for the "Mahem on the Mountain" when you are there. read more

We enjoy going to brooks for lunch and bring friends from out of town. We went and had lunch a couple days ago, the blood orange margaritas were delish! I ordered the wagu beef sliders, my mom ordered the calamari and our friend ordered the ahi poke. It took forever for our food to come out and when it finally did the expo person firmly started putting the plates of food on the table. I said I had that" and her response in a very bitchy tone was "well I don't know what everyone is having". Nice service. My sliders were awful, burned, super cold and had a smear of ketch up on the plate. The other items were mediocre. I felt like the food quality has dropped dramatically. It's a bummer because it's such a beautiful property. Definitely not 5 star service or food quality. Step it up Edgewood. read more

Brooks has become our new favorite! The views from the patio are incredible - lake, golf course, mountains. The food is exceptional - the Salmon Fish and Chips, nachos, ahi tacos, key lime tart, French dip sandwich, Mahi Mahi tacos - everything was fresh and flavorful. When i read that the Edgewood Resort at South Lake Tahoe was Travel and Leisure's top pick for the US continental resort I had to take a trip there and have lunch. What a beautiful place this was! Right on the lake with many places to just sit at stare out at the water. We decided to eat at the more casual Brooks Bar and Deck. They gave us a beautiful table overlooking the lake - it was an amazingly peaceful bright sunny day which made for a very pleasant afternoon. OK so now for the food.... - The Brooks Burger - sirloin. Dry (because sirloin does not have a lot of fat content) I ordered it med rare and it came out med well - not so good. I asked to substitute fries for the side salad which was very nice extra $2.50 - $18.50 in total - Sesame crusted Ahi entree $28.00 - not sushi grade tuna as there was cartilage throughout the pieces. In addition, the rice was very grainy like kind of left over - did not taste freshly made. For $28 at lunchtime - Ordered a bottle of the Wild Horse Pinot Gris - very nice The ambiance and service get all of the stars for me. I really wanted to love this place and I do just for the location. I would go for the view and cocktails - maybe a few appetizers. Just a side note, I saw a number of comments about Happy Hour so I asked the waiter if HH was served on the deck. He replied 'we don't have a happy hour now'. read more

Do yourself a favor and just go elsewhere. Very poor service with a limited menu. My wife and I sat for 25 minutes without even being approached for drink orders. Unfortunately, there were plenty of servers standing around and only 4 tables occupied at the time. It was so bad that nobody even said anything as we left. This was one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. We made a reservation at 7:30 for a dinner to celebrate my parents anniversary. When we arrived there were no tables available and we were sat at the bar. We sat at the bar for 45 mins and ordered two rounds of drink - at no point did we receive an update or an apology or a free round. Once seated we mentioned the wait and that we would like something compensated but the manager Omar proceeded to argue that they couldn't have done anything and we should have known we could have just ordered at the bar. At the end of the meal (which was armature) they offered free dessert which we did not want but then did not comp anything else. Omar continued to argue with us until we left the restaurant. I will never return nor recommend anyone visit this establishment. read more

We came here with a small group and got a deck table. Our waiter was Lilly and she did a really good job of paying attention to us without being overwhelming. I got the chicken sandwich (by Lilly's recommendation!) and it was glorious. The sweet potato tots were pretty bomb too. We had a reservation and showed up on time, got told there were a few parties that needed to be seated ahead of us - grab a seat at the bar. We own here in South Lake. We came here on New Years Day. This restaurant must have used all the great staff on New Years Eve. We had a large group of two tables. We ordered drinks, 4 bottles of wine, steak, and fish. We had to wave waiters down and ask busers multiple times to find our waiters. We had no drinks or water for 30 minutes while we waited for desert. We went to ask the waiter for help and then went to talk to the manager. There was very little concern or understanding of situation. We will not return. read more

We've been here several times for brunch buffet, really for the creme brûlée baked French toast, a mimosa and of course that lake and golf course view! Very nice place to spend the afternoon. The amazing view and atmosphere are the best reasons to go, but you will like the food too. It took a little while to get a waitress, but once we did service was very good. She gave us a good tip on the Mojitos. One Mojito was about $8 but you could get a whole pitcher for $19, well worth it. read more

Although my expectations for this restaurant were admittedly low, my family and I were blown away upon visiting. The view on the deck is beautiful and allows you to enjoy a perfect sunset as you dine. Our waitress was very hospitable and performed exceptionally. These were all icing on the cake, as the food was where this establishment truly excelled. We started with the gochujang cauliflower, which was a smash hit with the entire party. The gochujang sauce and crunchiness made for an excellent and flavorful beginning to our meal. The entrees were also delectable. I was pleasantly surprised by the quinoa salad with salmon I ordered. It tasted so fresh and delicious, with a variety of complex flavors complementing it nicely. My father ordered the burger, which he enjoyed. The beef was high quality, well-cooked, and seasoned to perfection. My brother ordered the lobster roll, which he was disappointed by. My mother ordered the Greek salad with seared ahi tuna. She was delighted by it and specifically loved the tuna. Finally, my sister got the veggie wrap, which she liked. Overall, this was definitely a great experience and surprise to say the least. Honestly not one to write reviews but for this, it's needed. We were bounced between the bistro to the restaurant to the bar due to a miscommunication with the hostess at the bistro. We ended up at the bar and explained our situation to which they could care less about. So when waiting at the bar we asked about any open seating that wasn't reserved, so we could take a seat while waiting for a table. The two at the front were unnecessarily rude in "explaining" the set up to us. When we finally got seated and got our food, everything seemed to go smoothly. But towards the end of the dinner, both people that had ordered the fish tacos ended up getting sick. When one of them stepped out due to physically getting sick, we explained that the food may have been bad to the waitress - who seemed to have cared less. I would hope that if someone got sick from food prepared there, they would be a little more concerned. Anyways, heads up for the snobbery, rudeness, and fish tacos. read more

Beautiful view and excellent food. We thought about eating at their fancy restaurant (which is BEAUTIFUL), but our budget decided we should eat at the casual sister restaurant. We were able to sit at an outdoor table with absolutely incredible views. We had a fantastic firecracker salad with chicken satay and a fantastic ceviche'. Both orders were huge and we were glad that we hadn't ordered another entre'. We had a bottle of champagne and loved watching the most amazing sunset. Our server was so sweet and very attentive. Definitely a go to when we visit Tahoe. Our last visit has definitely been my favorite, which meant its time for a review. Cozy ambiance. Food is phenomenal, especially this last visit. Started with the Brussel sprout app, The panchetta makes all the difference. I got the grilled cheese and the bf got the steak dish. So much cheeese and flavor. The Sourdough was crunchy and soft at the same time and worked really well with the brie/other cheese combo. Steak cooked perfect medium rare, the sauce/seasoning was amazing. We were too full for dessert but I saw the brownie on another table, might have to start with that next time. read more

Beautiful place! Turns out reservations are a good idea. We ended up getting a table outside but full sun. The view is gorgeous. I'd say the menu is a bit pricey. The food was good though, but for the price, there wasn't much. I order the turkey BLTA. The avocado was pretty much nonexistent. Good flavors overall but all the turkey was a ball in the middle of the bread. It took a really long time to get our food, so when the sandwich arrived cold except the toasted bread, I was disappointed. If you have the time, come by for a drink or bite but don't expect anything to be great except the view. read more

The Cauliflower appetizer sounds great but the cauliflower is hard to find and essentially absent under a thick overdone gochujang sauce. Steak tacos are bland and extremely underwhelming. Avoid the puttanesca at all costs. The French dip was good but at $25 you're paying a $10 premium for the view. In a world of so/so service, this place is a stand out! It was a special 80th birthday celebration dinner for my brother-in law. I made the reservation at Brooks Bar and Deck, and I let Omar the general manager know what a special night it was, and that my brother in law was a U.S. Army veteran. Omar the general manager was so kind and thoughtful, he really went above and beyond to make this a special night. JD was a wonderful server. The food was delicious. The French Dip sandwich and the Street Tacos were yummy. The specialty cocktails were on point, and the lemon meringue pie was divine. This night will not soon be forgotten. Love the Edgewood property!! Gorgeous golf course and expansive lawns! But this review is especially for the Brook's Bar and Deck. I called in 10 minutes before we went there because I wanted to get my parents to have lunch somewhere with a view of the beach and I'd never hears of Edgewood before (can you believe that?? But that's a story for another time) . Well, they don't really have a view of the lake unless you sitting on this specific chair in the right hand corner table of the restaurant, which is exactly where I happened to be sitting. :) But the vibe is fun and not at all stuffy. K ordered the Jamaican fish, mom and dad ordered the fish and chips and I ordered the tacos. Every single food item was awesome! And the fact that it sits on such an awesome property and yet does not bank on it's popularity to serve meh food is a good thing in my book. We shall be back! read more

I don't usually post reviews, be it positive or negative, but I felt obligated. When I made reservations online, there was no spot to request inside or outside seating. Since it was a beautiful day, my wife and I really wanted to sit outside. When I checked in with the hostess, when I told her we would like to sit outside, she said she had us for inside. Since only about 5% of the tables outside were occupied, I again requested outside. With all the available tables, she put us next to a full table that included a person in a wheelchair between the two tables. I asked to be seated five tables away and I could tell she was annoyed. When I asked if there was a problem, she said the waiter in that area was closing down his shift. I mentioned that we were only moving five tables away and I didn't think that would be a strain on our server! Then we tried to order a bottle of the only sparkling wine on the menu. After a ten minute delay, the waiter said they were out of the only champagne/sparkling wine listed. We then ordered a glass of wine and a beer along with our food, making it a point (3 times) that we wanted our 3rd item, the burger about ten minutes after we received our first two items. The waiter came back after a while to say that the beer I ordered was unavailable also, so I ordered another kind of beer. Both after the sparkling wine and beer being not available, he said the restaurant never tells him that things on the menu are no longer available. Poor experience. Not worth the money. Made reservations for 2:00 lunch and received a text message confirmation. When arrived they did not have us on the books and when I showed them the text the hostess pointed out it was for another date. I told her the phone reservation was for today and she didn't want to seat us. Another hostess weighed in and gave us a table. There was actually 4-6 open tables over the time we were there. Our drinks were over 10 minutes to get as it looked like a tournament crowd was just clearing out. Then after watching great food go by with waffle fries our French dips showed up with regular fries as the waiter said they ran out. The sandwich was the smallest dip I ever had and no where worth $25. Go to Sidelis or Divided Sky for a better, bigger French Dip and half the price with better service. Brooks was a Bust. read more

Visited Brooks on a Saturday afternoon, we were kindly welcomed at the door and seated immediately next to the large windows overlooking the beautiful snowy golf course and picturesque lake. Our server was very attentive and knowledgable, She gave great recommendations. We enjoyed the special of the day, fried mac & cheese balls which was served with a New Castle fondue. For entree's we got the Firecracker Salad, Street Taco's and the Grilled Cheese of the Day. We enjoyed every bite the day of and had enough food for lunch the following day. Ouch. Not so good. Was excited to visit because of the reviews and left realizing yelp (and trip advisor and google reviews) must be entirely BS. Those of you who dine out regularly already know this :) To preface, it's the Quarentimes, so expectations are lowered and we try and be as understanding and gracious as possible. The waitress was lovely, and explained as we were ordering ($14) cocktails that the dishwasher was broken so drinks were being served in disposable plastic cups. Ok. We'll go with that, flexible is good. My drink (lavender lemon drop) was tasty but (as to be expected) was warm quickly in it's plastic cup. My partner ordered a strawberry paloma which was fine (after stirring it as it wasn't mixed right) but nothing to write home about. NBD, still excited about dinner! Knew before coming we liked the looks of the appetizer menu better than the rest of it so ordered arancini balls (usually a personal fav), chicken wings (also, we are from the Buffalo NY area originally, so take that as you will), and the sliders. The arancini (4 golf size balls) came out first, and quickly (yay!), but were super disappointing. The breading on the outside was like a corn meal hush puppy, far too thick and unbalanced for what is (supposed to be) inside. The inside would have been super yummy except it ranged from luke warm to downright cold depending on the bite. And it was arranged on a plate with a thin drizzle of COLD marinara sauce. Um....wha? Basically just 100% never order this. The wings and sliders came out together. Wings....claim to be "smoked in piri pri and deep fried." No way. Like, zero chance these wings were deep fried. And served with "blue cheese sauce." That's funny. They mean Wishbone salad dressing. I can pretty solidly say I know what I'm talking about with wings given my life long love affair with them and half a lifetime spent in Western NY. Lies. All lies. The sliders were fine. Definitely the highlight of the food. Not much to say really, they were average sliders. Oh, the fried artichoke on the side with them was super yum. Yay? Hey can we go back to the wings for a sec? Did I mention they were $16 for 6 of them on a bed of dry noodles? And bottled salad dressing as a dipping sauce? Ate the arancini, half the wings, and 1 of the sliders and asked for a box to take stuff home. Waitress brought us 3"x4" tiny box to fit 3 wings and 2 sliders and sauce in...errr....we were just done and had a bottle of champagne waiting at our condo, so we shoved it in the box and squished it down. Aaaaaaaaand to top it all off (didn't really plan on mentioning it except, go big or go home right?) they ONLY allowed (complimentary) valet parking. 1. I see my car and can get it faster than you, totally don't need to shell out tip money. 2. Why the f**k do you think I want someone in my car, touching my steering wheel, in the middle of a pandemic? Seriously ppl, really stupid. At least give an option. Wish we'd left right when they informed us they had to park our car for us. Would have saved over $100 (the total cost of the night for 2 ppl to not eat crappy food.) As semi-locals (45 min away) we will definitely never return here or to any of the other restaurants at Edgewood. read more

This restaurant has it all - breathtaking view of the lake and mountains, delectable food, wonderful service, and affordable prices. Do try the steak salad. Hands down, the best salad I've had in my life! First off, they really don't give you skimpy pieces of steak - the chunks are thick, tender, and flavorful. There's even pieces of potato in the salad. My friends and I also enjoyed a pitcher of sangria with fruits. In fact, we got two of those! What also made our dining experience here a spectacular one was the natural beauty surrounding us.
