This is one of those places that I really want to like, but every time I'm there it's not good. Our server, Jason, demanded our drink order, slammed down some waters, then brought 2 coffees with spoons in the cup. I don't understand why they put a spoon in the coffee. I like my coffee black, therefore, there is no reason for a spoon to be in the cup. Now, I have a wet spoon that I need to do something with. Ask for extra napkins, get a weird look... Decided to try something different than eggs for once, ordered Belgian waffle and side of bacon. When our food is delivered, the plate with the side of bacon on it is perfectly centered on my waffle, to make it easier to carry, I guess. NOT OK. I could have waited a minute for the bacon. Gross. Took the waffle up to the counter and just asked for eggs. The atmosphere is very loud, even during slow times, thanks to a very loud staff. We no longer sit at the tables near the counter, because it's impossible to have a conversation over the loud staff conversations. I think Jason thought he was charming, he even mentioned a "rapport" with my husband and I. We didn't agree. He was demanding of our orders, rushed us, and was overly familiar at times (called me "love" after the waffle incident - not cool). Oh, and did I mention Jason almost hit me me picking up menus. The other server, that brought the waffle and bacon, almost hit my face with the hot coffee pot while reaching in front of me to warm it up. I have used all coupons for this place. I cannot go back. Like others have mentioned, it's ridiculously dirty, their practices are unprofessional, and its just an uncomfortable place to eat. I'd rather go to Village Inn. So I guess next time I'll just stay home. read more

I thought BBD was great. My wife and I went for lunch and I had an awesome sandwich! I think the only reason it was considered a sandwich was because it was on toasted bread. Sitting outside on the sidewalk was fun. The employees wear street clothes so don't be alarmed if your aproched by a stranger. It's a bit expensive for breakfast or lunch but Brookside by Day is a great place to try at least once. I'm sure I will go again. read more

I know BBD has a lot of pull with longtime Tulsans because its a spot with so much nostalgia. Even so, I don't find the actual dining experience worth the memories it provokes. You could make a much better breakfast at home. Servers are often rude or negligent, and the food is nothing to get excited about. read more

The food was amazing 7/5 stars!! Our waiter was incredibly handsome, as well as charming, and let's not forget humble. His name was David, and I will never forget the amazing time that we spent together on the patio. It was magical. I would highly recommend his service to anyone. read more

Apparently this place is a big deal for breakfast/brunch on weekends. During a recent Tulsa visit, the fam decided to hop in. It was SUPER busy (like big city tourist trap busy), but we waited less than 5 minutes. Our server was stretched thin, so it took us a while to get our drinks and place our orders. They were all standard items (sandwiches, soups, breakfast), and they were okay. That's it. The entire experience was just okay. I would call it mediocre, but that probably sounds a bit harsh. The entire experience just left us indifferent, and wondering if somehow we missed the point. I wouldn't object to a return visit, but I wouldn't go if I had much of an alternative. read more

I've been going to BBD since before I can remember, and I've never had a bad meal there. It's not gourmet, but the biscuits and gravy are good, the home fries are great, and the scrambles are usually pretty decent. The lunch menu isn't bad either - I especially like their burgers and egg salad. However, to the folks who say they think people must go there for the atmosphere, I'd say that's true to some extent. Not because BBD is cutesy or bohemian or whatever, but because everyone working there is super friendly and because many of the customers are regulars. For example, when I come in to visit from out of town, they greet me by name. It's a great neighborhood diner for that reason more than any other. read more

Breakfast was good and our waiter was great, but I will never return to this restaurant! We walked in and we're promptly greeted with "Good morning! Have a seat where you'd like". Our party of 6 moved some tables together, as there were none set up for a party more than 4, and sat. A lady, which we assume to be management, told us to gather our things and move to the table directly behind us. We must not have moved as quickly as she liked because she added, "you'll need to move if you want to be served". Had we not been under a time constraint we would have gladly gone somewhere that would appreciate our business. Had a decent Saturday morning breakfast here. It was really crowded and there was a bit of a wait. The lingering people waiting and servers and others rushing in and out made me feel like I needed to hurry up and eat. In fact, I am pretty sure I overheard a manager talking loudly (on purpose so others could hear) about how if people would hurry up and eat, they could seat all the people waiting. Our server was nice enough, and the food was good. Biscuits tasted fresh and homemade. I am not really interested in going back due to the atmosphere. I much prefer The Savoy if I'm going ot wait that long for breakfast, and the food is better anyway. read more

I can't help but be excited about finding a place that has delicious fried chicken for dinner (served Monday through Friday only). I try every place recommended for it's chicken and am usually underwhelmed but this place gets the prize. If you love fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy and vegetables you've gotta give it a try. I brought in the country band I tour with to eat breakfast after finding it on Yelp. I was concerned it might be a little hoity toity for them (I like fancy breakfasts myself), but they were cool with it. It actually has some cool punk memorabilia. The only thing hoity about it was some of the customers. Our server was attentive and down-to-earth and everyone loved their food. I've been going to this BBD since I started coming to Tulsa 5 years ago. Today was the best it has ever been. My eggs were perfectly cooked: over medium. The cheap, came in a bag pre-cooked, home fries were actually tasty. my patty sausage was good, the waffle was good and the biscuit was decent. Coffee is ok, but it's hot and they provide actual half and half. My 20 month old liked the scrambled eggs, pancakes and waffle. she is pretty picky. It seems like the same people have been working there since I can remember and they provide good service in general. read more

One of the yummiest breakfast places out there, Brookside by Day is a place I miss now that I don't live in Tulsa! Honestly I can't remember everything I've ever had there, but in the multiple trips that I've taken there, I've never been disappointed. They have a nice outdoor area to eat (or at least they used to!), too, that's great for watching people walking by on sidewalks. I highly recommend going to BBD for breakfast if you haven't been! I ate here for the first time today and sat on the patio since it was a super warm February day. It has a diner feel and isn't all that fancy. The service was good and the food was yummy. Wish I saw more healthy options, maybe turkey sausage would be a good start. I was driving back to OKC so no booze, but they had bloody Mary's and mimosas that looked yummy! I like Brookside By Day for its location. The food is pretty good but what you'd get from any other breakfast restaurant. They're always busy and it's very loud because of the people. So, if you enjoy having your breakfast in a very small and cramped restaurant, this is the place for you. Ive been here multiple times but after having been to so many other breakfast restaurants, I don't think I will come back after my visit last Monday. So this breakfast place is down the street from my new casa in T-town so the bestie and I checked it out. We were seated quickly and had quite a character for a waiter :*). We got omelettes as they are my breakfast food of choice. I got the #6...it had chicken, mushrooms, spinich and cheese I believe. It was a good omelette, not great by any means but better than a chain. The breaskfast potatoes were good. The biscuit and gravy were good too but the biscuit fell apart perfectly almost like they were made from a premade dough or something. It was about 20 before tip for the both of us for breakfast. Not bad but I feel a little pricy for the quality. All and all I will likely be back, it is good to have a mom and pop omelette option nearby. read more

I don't really understand why this place is so popular. Maybe it was better in the past and grew a following? Anyway, the food seems like something you would be served at boot camp. It's cheap looking and tasting, and very plain. The reason I gave it two stars is that despite being really crowded, the food came out incredibly fast. I guess that fits with my boot camp analogy! Gets by on reputation. This is one of those restaurants that have been around forever and no longer care about customer service. Their food is good. However , there is no host when's it's busy. You just have to write your name in a notebook. So you have no idea how long the wait is. I guess they think their so good you'll just wait forever. My wife and I enjoy coming here for breakfast after church. We especially come here for the patio ambiance. Been coming here for years even thought the coffee sucks the food and service is great! However today they lost our business when they told us the patio was closed. It was a perfect morning to sit outside weatherwise. So we left. The omelet was ok, couldn't decide which was worse the biscuit or the tasteless gravy, the grits tasted like they came out of a box that had been in the cabinet too long.
