What a beautiful, wonderful place! The cocktails are magical, the wine is delightful, the potato skins appetizers are to die for, and everything is served in a warm, relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You know this when you walk in and look up --- there is a soft ceiling light with a shade made of huge absolutely gorgeous white plumey feathers. Seriously! Just hanging there, from the ceiling, its eminence politely calling out, "Look at me! Am I not the most beautiful thing you have seen so far today? Come in a bit further and keep yourself quiet and a little bit humble --- all kinds of wonderful things are coming your way." This place is incredible! I'm kind of afraid of writing this because I fear that people will flock to it and wreck it for the rest of us. So be cool, people. Grabbed a togo order for the family last night and it was terrible! Ordered the Brookside Club and it was just plain sandwich bread - not toasted. Looked like cheap Wonder Bread and the turkey was gross lunch meat. Not worth 17.00 and looked like a cheap cafeteria sandwich. Fries were greasy and soggy. Potstickers were not cooked all the way. Crispy on the edges and undercooked in the middle. It looked like they were microwaved and they were all clumped together. Mind you, I live 5 minutes from this place so the food was immediately opened when I got home. Chicken strips were bland with greasy fries. After tip, I spent 70.00 for garbage food that ended up in the trash. Only positive thing about this place is that it's cute and the grounds are nice. Update: 11-1-25 Returned for the Halloween Bash last night, and were extremely pleased with the service and food. Service was great, food was brought out promptly and was HOT! We stopped in for a drink while we waited for test results for our pup who was across the street at VCA Vet Hospital. We needed a place to chill for about an hour. The small bar had quite a few customers, but we found two empty seats. We were immediately greeted by the bartender, who was friendly and welcoming. We ordered a couple of glasses of wine. The wine was good and reasonably priced (reverse sticker shock here). Definitely a neighborhood bar feel, with bartenders who are happy to engage in a bit of small talk. This place is across the street from the library so my husband and I dropped in for happy hour. They don't have a drink menu OR a happy hour menu. We ordered a couple vodka tonics and I had one with blood orange vodka. The waiter (we sat in the bar area, not at the actual bar) did tell me the blood orange vodka was not on HH and I appreciate when they do that. I couldn't taste the blood orange so on round 2, I got the regular vodka. We ordered taquitos and beef nachos which were half orders on HH and both were good. Crispy taquitos with a salsa that was a bit spicy. The service was okay, we did have to walk up to the bar for round 2 but overall it was an easy experience. Would probably go back for some HH vodka tonics if I wanted a quick drink. read more

Under new management....... Haven't been here in years, so we came back. The service was terrible. Just atrocious. They took orders after ours that were served before us. Then when we asked about our food, we were spoken to rudely, and when our food finally came we were rudely told "Here's your food!". By that time all three of us had lost our appetite. Our server, Melissa, was exceptional. She went out of her way to make sure our seating and food were great. She did not disappoint! She made our drinks herself and re-seated us away from a loud band which we were grateful for. Everything was exceptional. We have eaten at Brookside about 3-4 times now, and she recognizes us every time. Makes us feel special. I cannot imagine how they could run this place without her. Brookside Restaurant and Bar has a convenient location near Folsom Blvd. There's a patio seating out back that's like sitting in someone's back yard. The interior is like a sports bar with lots of wood. I stopped in for happy hour twice and discover they have great drink deals. The beer is as low as $2.50, and you can swill cheap margaritas for $3.35. Be careful it's easy to drink too many at those prices. The food and service are decent but I go for the cheap drinks. I like this spot. It was my 1st time going (Sat 4/27), and I enjoyed myself. Drinks are pretty good, and the food is decent as well. There were a few minor hiccups in the beginning, but Dustin (bartender/server) was on top of everything. They had a live band going on outside, which was cool, and Tanya (server/bartender) is super lit. I definitely loved her energy. I'll for surely be returning. I hear they have a lot of great events coming up over the next couple weeks, I have to get back on my Facebook so I can follow them and see what they're cooking up for the upcoming weeks. Friday night at this restaurant is really hopping with a live band and lots of partying folks...! We had a group of 12 and the staff was really overwhelmed by the volume of people overall and perhaps had one too many servers trying to service our group. Orders were incorrect ~ eg. gal ordered burger with salad and got fries; slow ~ drinks took so long, most folks went to the bar to fetch their own; and the prepaid gratuities were an unbelievable 33 - 40 %...!!! My total bill was $9.00 w/12 % (??) tax added ~ gratuity was $3.00...!! Folks who paid by credit card were charged an additional fee to use their cards ~ percentages varied. They seemed to think no one would check the final balance they signed for...!! My drink order (at the bar) was a Sea Breeze ~ simple: vodka, grapefruit juice & cranberry juice ~ it came in a small, PLASTIC glass, made with orange juice, for $10...!!! Since I was not opening a tab, I was practically ignored by the two bar tenders...(???) Apparently they don't offer a happy hour any longer (we were there at 5:30 PM) My usual order of calamari was excellent..! Requested a bit more sauce than what came in my tiny PLASTIC cup and never saw it at all...!! I will go back if my group has another TGIF there.... definitely ordering beer in a bottle ($ 7 - $8, I'm told) at the bar and requesting extra sauce at time of ordering..!! Came here for my first time and ate on their patio section. What a beautiful view of a rose garden and their newly remodeled patio from what the waitress told me. From the service and great food this place is a must. Everybody was very welcoming, polite and attentive. Ashley The bartender made amazing drinks. I felt welcomed and comfortable taking my entire family for lunch. We happened to run into some old friends there, which was a nice surprise and elevated our experience. They had a nice outdoor patio with plenty of space to have a big party. They had multiple TV's inside with all the NFL games on. We had a horrible experience tonight. We have been going to the past 4 months almost every Friday. Just to get out. Tonight the food was overcooked. We told the waitress and the owner came out and argued with us. He told us it was not. We disagreed. He told us it was a "f**king waste" and walked away from us. My BF went inside and told him it was not ok to speak to us like that. The owner continued to argue and we basically said we will never come back. Came here on a Friday, October 6, 2017 for dinner and drinks. We got lucky and came when they were about to play live music so we sat outside to listen. The seats outside were wine barrels were not very comfortable and were dirty, but you cant expect too much from outside seating. Anytime you have a Friday night, you can expect staff to be busy. On this night they must have been pretty busy because our waiter wasn't around too much and had to be reminded on a couple things but again they did seem pretty busy especially inside at the bar. Our food was pretty standard and the drinks were pretty good. As it is close to the house I bet we can be sure to come back and enjoy some music while the weather is still so nice. Being close to the house and on Friday after a long day at work, dealing with $%^&#@, this was a nice place to unwind. Music was good and atmosphere was pleasingly ... I ordered the appetizers among the drinks. I can't complain about the food, being it was pretty much bar food. However, we will be giving the restaurant side a visit soon I do recommend this place to unwind on a Friday night. read more

This is my closest neighborhood bar that I frequent more than I care to admit. The owners bartend and serve here so you are guaranteed to see a familiar face when you come in. My favorites from the menu include the buffalo wings, calamari, and burgers. Their happy hour is also awesome (I will attach a picture of the menu). They have the best "loaded" bloody Mary in Rancho that they serve on the 2nd Sunday of each month and live music on Friday night on the patio. The only thing I wish was that they had extra people to work on some of their busy days/nights because they can get kind of busy. read more

Frank holds this place down. I brought the family in for Sunday morning football and not only did Frank make bomb-ass drinks (try the flaming Lemon Drop) but he was constantly checking up on everybody in the restaurant/bar making sure that everyone was taken care off. Prompt to refill drinks and take orders, great attitude, and great vibe. The food was fantastic as well, especially the custom-made Honey Chipotle Wings and the Calamari. I will start with saying, if you are going here for drinks and a decent bar atmosphere you might be satisfied. With the happy hour my drink was well made and priced fairly. However that is one of two tiny good things I will be saying about my dining experience in this review. When we first came in it was not busy but not empty like some other reviews mentioned. The staff seemed friendly at first but after a little while it was clear they put customer satisfaction last on their priorities. Without going into too much detail about the specific staff I'd rate the service a 3 on a scale from 1 to 10. Frankly I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was there. We dined in the regular part of the restaurant and ordered off the full menu. We ordered the portabella mushroom sandwich, the so called "Sheppard Pie" and a to go order of the shrimp tacos. We also tried the bread pudding for a dessert. The portabella sandwich was a good start it looked well prepared and tasted decent. It came with sweet potato fries as a side that were ok as well. It's not bad for the price but not memorable in the least. The Shepherd pie was the kind of food you would see on kitchen nightmares if you know the reference. It was grizzly cheap steak swimming in a bland gravy with far to little veggies topped with ugly mash potatoes, cheese and a few tomato bits as a garnish. It was barely worth eating, however I was so hungry after the decently long wait that I picked around and ate what I could. The bread pudding was clearly either prepared well in advance if not frozen. They microwave it so the center is scalding while the outside is hardened and warm at best. They drizzle some caramel around it to add some looks to the dish but it does not help much. I've had better bread pudding out of a can frankly. Last but not least the waitress brought our order of shrimp tacos to the table, and as she walked up I noticed the to go box was sideways in the bag as she carried it. She set it down clumsily and walked away. We had to wait some more for our check for some reason so in the mean time I unwrapped the tacos to take a look at them. When I opened the box I chuckled a bit at the ridiculousness of the dish. The tortillas where laid out across the bottom of the box and then on one side all of the ingredients for them had piled in a giant ugly mess. Normally I would say something and send them back but honestly we were so uncomfortable at this point that we decided to cut our losses and get out of dodge. I did my best to re-plate the tacos and closed it up. The fun was not over yet unfortunately. The initial reason we tried this place was of course a Groupon deal which always makes trying new restaurants easier. I should warn future customers they do automatically add gratuity to the bill. So no matter how bad the service was we had no choice but to reward them. Bad business in my opinion. The whole tragic meal ended up costing us 32 dollars with the Groupon. Money that would have been better spent at any random chain restaurant for food that is far better. As a follow up I tried one of the tacos later at home and it was probably the worst shrimp taco I've ever had. The waitress dumping them all over probably didn't help. Good restaurants will respond to these bad reviews on yelp and try to make things right with the customer. This place does not strike me as the type to do so. Therefore this review is purely to warn people. FOR THOSE THAT DON'T LIKE TO READ: HAVE A DRINK AT THE BAR MAYBE SOME POTATO SKINS BUT OTHER THAN THAT DON'T EAT HERE! Am I stupid... I bought a groupon for this place thinking it was BrookFIELDS. OMG, why do these places have similar names? It tricked me. Well then I read the reviews for this place. I was hoping it would be ok. The inside of this place reminds me of a lodge or cabin. It's got a rustic country look to it. It's quite clean too. The service is a little slow, but they do try to be attentive to the guests. When we had an issue with one of our entrees, they quickly and without hesitation amended the issue. As for the food, everything was alright. It was like home style cooking, nothing super fancy. Overall, I wasn't wowed by the food or the place in general. Not sure that I would come back but that's just because this place is a little far from my house. I do think this place would be great to hang out and watch a game.
