I purchased a brisket plate with 2 sides. When I got home I was DISGUSTED!!! I immediately called them and told them the "pieces" not slices of meat were all fat! If they didn't have more brisket left they should have told me. Some people like "loose cut" brisket but it is not the standard. The person I spoke with said I could come back next day and bring the food back. I told her that there is no way I would pack around food from home to work then back to Missouri City location. I took pics of the food. When I got there I ordered food thru drive thru and told the cashier to get the manager. The manager (RAFAEL) would not honor my request because I didn't bring the food back. He told me "YOU COULD HAVE PUT THE FOOD IN THE FREEZER"..I told him that now I see why there were only 2 cars at the restaurant and I would never return!!! I made him give me a refund...and therefore the plate that was fixed for me either got thrown away or they served it to the next sucker. I stopped by Brookstreet Bar-B-Que for lunch with two of my coworkers. Located on the intersection of The Heights and Montrose, Brookstreet has a parking lot in the back. It's a converted house so you have two stories and a nice second-floor patio. Like most BBQ joints, you order at the counter and then bring your food with you as you're seated. I couldn't say no to the trio special which comes with sausage, brisket, pulled pork, and two sides. Plus bread and pickles. And an Arnold Palmer. I'm definitely big on BBQ and had high hopes for Brookstreet. It ended up just being average. The BBQ just didn't have the juiciness, complexity, and flavor of a spot like Killen's or even Truth which is located close by. My coworkers were in agreement. read more

The BBQ in my opinion is just as good as the other BBQ joints in Houston, and it is more competitively priced. For me, if I don't like the sauce, I will not eat at a BBQ place and I am glad this one hit the mark ... not too sweet or too tart, just right! The green beans were tasty, but just your basic green beans. I did not like the jambalaya and won't get it again, it literally was 99% rice with almost no meat. The husband got the 3 meat plate with lean brisket, jalapeño sausage and regular sausage. He really enjoyed all of it, and said the jalapeño sausage was especially good! Pretty decent spot for barbecue when you've got a craving but don't want to shell out too much cash. It's situated along a bustling stretch of Montrose near a ton of other restaurants and has a small parking lot. We got the pulled pork, St. Louis style ribs, and jalapeño sausage with Mexican style corn and potato salad as our sides. I wanted to try their brisket but they were unfortunately out for the day. The pulled pork and jalapeño sausage were good but didn't blow me away; my favorite was definitely the ribs. They were fall off the bone and pretty tender, and they were especially delicious slathered in their BBQ sauce. The potato salad was fairly standard. I was expecting their "Mexican style corn" to be more like elote, but it was more like corn in a cheesy sauce? I might just be ignorant and not know what the dish actually is, but it was really tasty! They also gave us a generous helping of pickles, pickled onions, jalapeños. We sat on their rooftop deck and it was a vibe with the perfect weather. Our whole spread cost right above $70 and fed 3 hungry people with 1 lunch's worth of leftovers. Simple and Sweet In 2016, I went to Texas for the first time and finally understood what good BBQ was supposed to taste like. Back in California, I could not for the life of me find anything comparable. Fast forward to now and I'm here in Houston for graduate school and on the hunt for some killer BBQ! After eating the food here at Brookstreet, I almost shed a tear from the delicious taste and from the memories of that first time. I ordered the 3 meat plate and everything is delicious but I really love the brisket. The brisket here is smoky, moist, and not overly salty. The BBQ sauce they provide is salty enough to make up for that. Poke the brisket with your fingers and you'll see so much juice it can make a puddle! The ribs are St Louis style and they are fall off the bone tender. The last item I got was the jalapeno sausage. It was tasty and you can see chunks of jalapeno speckled into the meat. The two sides I ordered was the Baked potato casserole and mac n cheese. They were alright but now that I'm reading other reviews, it seems like the elote is the homerun side here! I dug into my marbled brisket and it immediately melted in my mouth. I only wish the flavoring was all through the piece and not just the outer shells. I have had Brookstreet on my Bucket list and now I'm here. The sweet aroma smell of the QUE, while at the stop sign across the street had my taste buds racing. I ordered the Two meat dinner with ribs and sliced brisket. Along with their potato casserole and jambalaya. Let me start- everything was good; however, nothing was hot. The Barbecue sauce was two thumbs up . I was disappointed with the temperature of all the food, except for the roll. The ribs were very tender, I only wished that the brisket had been. And based on the sweet aroma coming from resturant I expected a little bit more seasoning-kind of blah. It's a great location and is easy to get to and they definitely smoke their meats in such a great way that it stops traffic- to me there is something missing (when you your food comes out lukewarm and your major meat are seasoned ok). Wednesday may 21 at 2:40pm , i go to pick up some food and this mid aged and sized hispanic woman is SOOO RUDE, doesn't even smile one bit, okay so i get the food and leave , and my windows were down in my car, yall have a wasp nest by y'all's barbecue pit and tree at the front entrance it's somewhere in the tree but 2-3 wasp immediately went inside my car, so i call back and it's the same woman that was rude but this time my girlfriend is the one that's talking on the phone , she asks to speak to a manager so we can let them know about the wasp problem , she says "ones not here right now ". i say "okay no problem is there a supervisor i can talk to ?" and she just hangs up the phone on me . then i called back using the same number 3x no answer, called from my number and i was put through with a nicer man that went to go check , he didn't see it but there's definitely wasp problems somewhere in the front . which is what i wanted to inform you guys about , but that lady working is so unprofessional. this complaint isn't even about the wasps it's about that employee being SO RUDE when im being polite and made it a horrible experience. read more

The brisket with their BBQ sauce was DELICIOUS! Great job on that, guys! THE PORK: I'm not a huge fan of pork from the start, but this pork was made extremely well, and the taste could tell! THE SAUSAGE: I chose to go with the jalapeño sausage (bc I'm a spici boi) & found it to be GOOOOOOOD!!!... but it could've used something! ONE OF THE BEST BBQ PLACES I HAVE BEEN TO! I wanted some good Texas bbq before we left Houston so i turned to Yelp for some very very helpful recommendations and Yelp did not disappoint. When you 1st arrive, it does not look like it will be much but I PROMISE you it's delicious. My mom and I both got a 1 meat plate. I got the Turkey with Mac and cheese and green beans. My mom got the ribs with jumblaya (idk i spelled that right) and the potato casserole. When I tell you, we left that restaurant as happy as can be with our stomachs full and happy...that would even be an understatement. The meat is so good and you can tell it's cooked slow over time because it has the flavor. The sides are also so good. My mom also got a pecan pie for dessert to have later at the hotel. Next time we are in Houston, we are 100% going back and I will definitely be trying their other options. Out of all the BBQ spots in the city, this isn't necessarily my favorite, but we went late at night and they still had probably 70% of their menu available which is always a maybe at good BBQ spots. Would definitely give it a try if you're in the area and looking for a decently quick barbecue meal. Like a lot of places in Houston, the establishment itself was at one point or another an old house, which isn't a positive or negative, I just think it's cool. With drinks the order came to 70+ The man serving the food kept getting the meats out of these clear plastic bags end cutting the dry ends off, the meat was cut very very thin, it was lukewarm and dry! The sides were ok, very watery but nothing impressive. Needless to say the location and presentation is awesome but we won't be back. Second night in Houston and needed to eat BBQ, since we ate at El Tiempo Cantina the night before. This place is awesome! Location is in Mid-town and near parks and seemed like there was a lot to do near by. All the food we ate was great! Brisket-juicy and tender. The bread for brisket sandwich was fluffy and just the right density. Ribs-very tender and seasoned just right. Jalapeño sausage-wonderfully seasoned, not too spicy and flavored very well. Mac-n-cheese-pasta cooked to perfection and not overpoweringly cheesy. Corn salad-very tasty. Mashed potatoes-a hit too dry for my liking, but flavoring was on point. So I settled for the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage, with a side of Mexican street corn. The brisket was a pretty lean cut, which went well with their tomato based BBQ sauce, which had a twinge of heat to it. The sausage was pretty good- jalapeno flavor if I remember. I paired that with the BBQ Sauce too- I get sauced. Their sauce was the best thing there- I coulda drank it, and put it on everything. Everything. The street corn was not bad. It seems like it needed an extra kick to get it over the top- it called for more of their sauce. Things went well here! I was so embarassed that I dropped my credit card behind their register, and they had to fish it out. There's a perfect little slot that can only barely fit a credit card, and I dropped it so it perfectly slipped in there. Gah. They have a good selection of Texas beers here- and fun sodas too! The 4 meat plate was around $28 and we received maybe an ounce of brisket, a table spoon of pulled pork, the regular and jalapeño sausage, and two sides. The rib plate is much more worth the price as you receive 5 ribs and 2 sides for about $20. The sides also come in very small portions when ordering delivery, in house serving sizes look to be much more substantial. Overall good eats, but I wouldn't order delivery again. Ok Brookstreet.. I have to say.. you are the best BBQ close to home thus far. My all time favorite in Texas right now is Killen's BUT it's in Pearland and there's a line and they don't open pass 3pm! There's a drive-thru here for BBQ!! But there is a small space inside for dine-ins and a small patio space outside with a fan! Order at the counter while they weigh and cut your meat for you like most BBQ places! I had the two meat plate and opted for the moist brisket (they ask for your preference on moist/fatty or lean) and I got the ribs! The brisket was moist and perfect!! Yum!! It was cooked perfectly to my taste! But the BBQ sauce lacks its pow! I thought it needed more kick to it! The ribs were good but they lack meat on those bones! There was a good bark on them and there are pretty moist areas and some drier parts of the rib. Though I didn't think they were overdone - just smaller and could've been more meaty! I'm sad they only serve beef ribs on the weekends though. Overall, it's a good place to stop for legit BBQ in town! Where Brookstreet really gets me is when the things I don't expect to be there and definitely not that good are so delicious! The BBQ meats are great and all and really appreciate how flavorful and tender their Brisket is without being too fatty. But damn, the barbacoa tacos are so mouthwateringly yummy. A tender, decadent mound of meat on top of each fresh flour tortilla with a sprinkle of fresh cilantro and parlsey. Paired with some spicy salsas! We also loved the potato salad - a classic but often done so wrong in other places. This was slightly sour, in the best way, creamy and chunky, with fresh veggies inside - a nice, dense texture that is perfect after a fatty piece of meat.
