I had an outstanding experience with Brothers Services and Carl Havelin. I recently moved into a home in Westminster and wanted a professional opinion on my 20-year-old roof, especially after having other companies quote me for a replacement. Carl called ahead, arrived on time, and was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. The biggest surprise? He told me my roof is actually in fantastic condition and does not need to be replaced right now. That level of honesty is hard to find and immediately earned my trust. He also took the time to help me figure out a strange noise in my attic, which turned out to be something completely unrelated to the roof. What really impressed me was that as he was leaving, I asked about another property I own in Finksburg that's currently on the market. We were about to have solar panels installed on our freestanding 3-car garage and were advised to have the roof redone beforehand. This is the third roof we have had replaced on one of the houses we have owned in the past 15 years, this was the best experience by far. I did some research on roofing companies and even spoke with a few roofers before we looked for an estimate. We were informed and knew what we wanted. The Brothers estimator/sales guy came arrived on time and was exceptionally polite and knowledgeable. The estimate was fair and we got on the schedule. Less than two weeks later, the roofers arrived and before the crew started the foreman explained the process throughly. They did what they said they would do, they finished when they said they would, and they were great! Best roofing experience that I have had! Highly recommended! read more

We had a roof leak, so we called Brothers Services (Hampstead). The estimator said it could cost $2,743.00 and probably take all day. The materials were minimal. We thought that was reasonable for a two man crew for all day, so my wife signed the contract. They came last week. It actually took less than three hours. If she had known it would be that amount for three hours, she would've called another company. So, if you want to pay almost a thousand dollars an hour for a two man crew, call Brothers. Called and set up an appointment for Brothers to look at my roof. I needed it to be replaced. Salesperson Mike was assigned to do the visit. The night before, he called and said he would be late. Not a big deal, at least he provided advance notice. Unlike other contractors, he did not prepare at all. Other roofing contractors showed up with exact dimensions of my roof from satellite and could provide pricing very quickly. To his credit, he did do a pretty thorough inspection though and I was looking forward to seeing his bid. It was promised later that day. I said I didn't need it until Monday. I still have not received it days later despite reaching out repeatedly. The lack of follow through was terrible. I just signed a contract with another roofer. They have done 3 roofs, attic insulation, replaced all the windows, shutters, front door, 2 storm doors, walk in shower and some electrical work. I may have forgotten somethings. Everyone we have worked with has been professional and we never had anyone pushy. We only had one problem and they were right out to resolve it. Now we do not have a big fancy house like on the commercials and we are not rich. We know good work and service when we see it. We are also believers in you get what you pay for. BUYERS BEWARE!!!!!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE!!!! Please be careful when hiring this company. Installers were nice. Company not so much. To summarize. My neighbor hired them to do a siding job. From the start it was suspect. The night before the job was to start I was asked by the homeowner to watch over the job while he wasn't home and to take his old aluminum siding they remove to the scrap for him so he could recoup so of the money he spent on the siding. He spoke to the salesman and was told yes you may keep it If you want to do it go ahead. They will leave it in the yard. When the installers started taking it I asked if they were supposed to leave it due to the fact the homeowner asked me to take it for him. They said no that they keep it on every job unless it's asked for. Umm??? I do believe it was. But no problem probably just no communication so When the homeowner called they were told that and I quote with zero exaggeration " they use that to feed their family's. They need it to eat". Wow!!! That's nuts. So many questions from that statement need to be circled back to by someone hopefully soon for the workers sake. Next as they were replacing the siding they blew his power at the power main in the front of the house. Instead of taking responsibility and eating the mistake cause they happen they decided to blame the homeowner for old wiring. And a grounding issue with the outside ground. He has had power for 20+ years no problem until hiring brothers to do a siding job. Had power all the way up till the day brothers came. It's been over a week and he still isn't 100% taken care of. They spliced the power line together and put electrical tape on it and left it like that. Open to all elements and animals. While it must b up to code they make box's and covers for them so nothing can touch them. Right now any animal can come up a nibble and poof no animal or electric. 42 years old I have never seen a taped up power main in front of someones house. Never!! The main power line is sheathed with thick rubber to protect it from elements and touching other metal. So how could a short come you ask??When the installer was removing the siding he must have nicked the sheathing while using his siding shears to cut the hole that the wire enters the house thru. so when he was pulling of the siding odds are the nicked power line touched the aluminum siding. Which is why he only got zapped instead of catching the full force of it. If it was old wiring or bad ground odds are other metal around the house would of been energized. I have lived next to him for 22 years and never been shocked at his house. Anyway instead of taking responsibility and fixing it cause mistakes happen they charged him more money and said it was his fault. Not only did they get him for the wire but a whole new panel as well. Great selling!! During they power surge multiple appliances and other electronics were fried. A microwave a kitchen light and a nest thermostat to start. That's all that's been replaced cause that's all the homeowner could afford to buy with his own money at the time. After that I was asked again to watch over the job while the homeowner wasn't home. The job is now pretty much complete and the poor man who by the way is a disabled vet still has no heat or ac. Odds are they blew something in the furnace area due to the power surge they caused when blowing the power main. All was good until they showed up. The man had power a microwave and heat and ac. I have left other reviews on other sites in hopes to get the word out to be careful. They have took advantage of this man. Instead of making it right they have taken to social media and other outlets to try and justify it and rebut my reviews to try and do damage control. If they had no responsibility why bother with me. I'm by far not the only bad review. I just hope someone reads this before they are the next victim. The installers were nice and competent. Nothing that happed was on them. Upper management seems to b the issue here and that's never a good business relationship to enter into. Mistakes happen and they are no problem as long as the company takes responsibility for it and not snake their way out of it. If you want you main power to look this (see photo attached) around your family and pets they are the ones to hire. Just be super careful doing any gardening. There are a lot of contractors in Carroll county that do great responsible work and pay their workers fair wages so they don't need to keep the trash to feed their family's. so please do your research so you don't get a company like sisters out to do you siding only to have everything but the siding b ruined. I purchased a older home that hasn't been updated in 60yrs. I asked Brother Services to come and give me a quote on remodeling the hall and master bathrooms. They did work for me before when I lived in Arbus (Baltimore). Now I'm in Bel Air, and the consultant said $100k was the best she could do. My bathrooms are small (most 4x10 and hall is 5 x12). We never discussed finishes, fixtures or anything. She took some measurements and just said one hundred thousand dollars. I told the rep at my initial call that my budget was $25k. We needed a roof replacement and had one of their salesman come out and "check our attic" just to let us know we needed a new roof. This was a salesman- not even a roofer. He came back a few days later with a binder so he could go over our options with us, and spent 45 minutes talking about and showing us Brothers' awards from 2011-2017. We were then quoted $35,000 for the roof, but were told we could save $2000 by "signing now". It felt like a sleazy car salesman experience. We decided to get other quotes and both companies came in at $21,000-$22,000 for the same quality shingles and service. We went back to Brothers to see if they would negotiate since we had already gone through financing with them, and were told "no, good luck". Complete scam. If you enjoy sitting and listening to a salesman talk about how many awards Brothers won in 2012, then this is the company to use. I'll start by saying this was my third experience getting my garage roof done. There were other good possibilities, but I finally picked a large company with a good track record because my first two experiences were so awful I needed all the standard things one should have in any job like a well explained and written contract, someone who answers the phone and has answers, someone who schedules and is in touch with the project foreperson and polite service from workers including reasonable arrival times and communication. At this time I am still waiting for the foreperson to return because ai have a couple of concerns. Generally, from the ground the job looks a lot better than the last company. The removed slates are replaced and I will look to make sure drainage off the sloped flat roof is good. There were two workers: one really skilled and the other a better communicator and who knew the company culture. The price is steep, but they had to undo most of what had been done to remove a torch down roof with a rubber roof and a previous roofer who drove nails through the wood as a conduit for rain (humor). There is a new metal front piece just above the garage door and Brothers puts framing pieces around the edges of the roof to keep water out. They also got me a new downspout to fit properly into the roof opening. If this site allows I'll add the final report after I speak to the foreperson. He returned for the final walkthrough. I would give this company zero stars if I could. I called them out to repair a leaky skylight, which they did, with a one year warranty. After eight months it leaked. I called them out and they told me I needed an entirely new skylight at some exorbitant price. So what about my warranty? If your patch job failed and I need a new skylight you should apply that towards the skylight replacement, right? Ha ha ha not a chance. They came out, Did another patch job, which leaked. I wound up going with another company who charged me for far far far less! And then they had the nerve to call me a couple days later to ask how satisfied I was with their botch job! And the Hussey argued with me when I told her I was dissatisfied!! Avoid this company like they were anthrax. read more

Is zero stars an option? I hired them to do a repointing of my chimney. Months later it was scheduled but with the caveat that the estimator got the square footage wrong and it would cost more. Then when they arrived to do the job, I was told that the whole chimney had to be knocked down and rebuilt. You think that the estimator would've been able to notice that? Or did they purpose wait so it would get that bad? Or is it that bad? It's hard to tell when the job changes so dramatically and it's not like they uncovered problems as the work unfolded. Now trying to get my deposit back for the repointing that has morphed into a rebuilding of my entire chimney and looking for a company that is up front and honest. If you find one, help a girl out... My wife and I called 4 other home improvement company's before we called brothers. The "gentleman" I spoke with made it seem I was wasting his time with our project. He gave me a ridiculous quote of $70,000 for a 14x16 bedroom addition. He gave me this outrageous quote by looking at my house from a satellite view and not having anyone come to my home. The other 4 company's we got quotes from were all under $40,000. So unless you want to get ripped off by this company than go right ahead a hire them. What a great team of people to help through a stressful time... any home improvements seem to be overwhelming! They take the stress out!

After having a great consultation, I was left in the dark no contact even after reaching out to them, but once I received a call From Grant I was told I had problem with my contract so I reached out to the individual that I had a consultation with, Once the appointment was set the crew arrived and didn't show up with all my material the project manager was great and called Grant and told him the order was all screwed up the didn't have the ply wood I paid for in advance and didn't include the smart vent system I just paid additional $700, So the project manager said itwas going to be zero out the smart vent for me to have it free and I said well great but I also need the money back I paid for the plywood not received another $200 after that conversation I was told to talk to grant and he said he will refund only the wood money and the project manager miss spoken and that my order was done wrong so I confirmed again with project manager and he stated I was suppose to get that money back, so afterwards, I was suppose to get gutters installed, Grant never told me it was going to be done on different day so wasted time off work for whole day, then project manager checked the schedule and said I wasn't even on schedule, afterward I was told Grant will call which he never did so I had to call several time then I called his manager never received a call back then called back another time and his manager put me on the schedule just for grant to call and cancel the appointment on the day of appointment after sending him a message. Once my gutters where put on I can home to see all the downspouts was done at different heights so I sent pictures to Grant and he stated he didn't see a problem, and sent the old project manager out that noticed right away it was done wrong read more

We scheduled an appointment for a consultation to do a full master bathroom remodel, had the appointment for almost 2 weeks, both of us left work early to make the latest appointment offered only to get a rude call canceling the appointment an hour before. We were told they don't do homes like ours. We have a modular home, rancher, built on a block foundation, studs & drywall,ect. The finished project was outstanding in appearance and the area was meticulously cleaned afterwards. Recently, I once-again contacted Brothers Services to receive an estimate on the replacement of my main roof. The Residential Consultant assigned, Mr. Dave Rentsel, met with me and professionally outlined the project's details and answered all my questions. Mr. Rentsel personally pointed-out areas of concern during his inspection, and provided a detailed explanation of my roofing needs. Mr. Rentsel, was not only knowledgeable of the trade standards, codes and requirements, but further displayed a level of professionalism, character and honesty. Called Brothers to come out for a roof replacement . The gentleman showed up on time looked at job said he would get back to me the next day . I called them because they were offering 30% off . The next day he called to meet me . He gave me a price of 36,000.00 for a 39 square foot replacement and with the 30% off was still almost 25,000.00 I told him he was crazy and they are ripping people off he told me the 30% was to get people to call I told him his company should be ashamed of themselves , buy the way other quotes were 14,000.00 to 16,000.00 please stay clear of this company read more

We had a water stain in our shower (not related to plumbing, etc.) and called Brothers Services. Doug Meckley showed up and immediately diagnosed the problem. He clearly and completely explained what Brothers could do for us including the time line for the completion of the project. We got more than I expected included cleaning out the gutters and reinforcing them. They even removed an old satellite dish that was on the roof. Doug made me feel that Brothers is completely trustworthy and reliable. We will definitely call on Brothers to replace our roof when the time comes. read more
