Brown Dog Deli was a complete disappointment! Ordered the Southern Charm burger. It was suppose to have pimento cheese, I could see it but couldn't taste it. Too small amount and I paid $12 for it. The tables are so close that you can't talk for your neighbor (1 foot away) talking. Really pricey for the type of food served. I won't be going back. When we were seated another waitress was spraying deodorizer because SHE said the room smelled?!? We asked our waitress if we could have another table in the other room. We were told, " this is the order we seat" and sat us down. Just a pure disappointment. If I could give zero stars, I would have. read more

This is my husband and I favorite restaurant in Carrollton. The "sin dip" is wonderful. They serve it in a small cast iron skillet. They truly know how to serve southern food with plenty of taste rather than blandness. We've tried several dishes and each dish has been spectacular. Collards and mac and cheese are a huge hit for side items! You will be pleased with the food. read more

5 star drinks, 5 star app, 5 star burger - the Southern Burger is a top 5 burger of all time. The cheese, collard and artichoke app was delicious. And the banana pudding was the best I've ever had. We drove from north of Atlanta and will be making the trip back soon. read more

I eat here often with friends and family, and our food and service have been consistently very good. I do recommend the place to visitors and friends for a unique food experience! I was disappointed because when I left my table I forgot my leftovers in my take home plastic container. I remembered them before I reached my car and went back in to find out the server cleared the table and threw them away. I believe it's common sense to at least hold on to them for a few minutes before discarding food that hasn't even been eaten in a plastic container. My new favorite spot. Love the southern twist on fresh food. Great combinations of flavors in every dish. We had the pork skin nachos as an appy. So good! I have been there once for lunch and once for dinner. My sister and I split the chicken and waffles and the shrimp and grits for lunch. I can honestly say that the chicken and waffles were perfect and it was the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. The service was fast and the food was amazing. When I went for dinner I found out that multiple things on their dinner menu aren't served anymore. I had to ask about three items before I found one they still make. I understand they are getting new menus but please at least go through the old ones and scratch out the things that aren't available anymore. I ended up having the jambalaya and it was awesome! The rice was cooked to perfection, the chicken and sausage were flavorful, and the sauce was delicious. For desert my mom and I shared beignets. You get four and they are served on top of a drizzle of honey. They were a little too full on the inside to be considered real beignets, but they looked and tasted great. There are some kinks that they need to work out but I will definitely be returning and I can highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

We've eaten here twice, once at the bar and once with a large group, and both times were great. We just stopped by for a drink the first time, but we were enjoying the atmosphere so much, we decided to stay for dinner. Cozy, but you still feel like you're out downtown. The food...ah, the food. So good!! We shared the pork chop that first night, with the geechee cheese grits, both delicious. The second time, we were with a group of 16 in the side room and they managed us beautifully. One of the specials was shrimp and corn bisque and hit the spot for a cold night! I decided to just get a few sides because that's what I was craving. Mac and cheese was the best I've had at a restaurant and the collard greens were, too. Oh, and we all shared some pork rind nachos, which I highly recommend. I always want to order dessert, but have been too full both times. The descriptions of the chocolate pecan pie and banana pudding, both with Brown Dog's own twists, make my mouth water. Brown Dog is a great mix of unique menu, fantastic food, and good drinks. They rotate their beers often and their cocktail menu is great. This isn't your rum and coke kind of bar. You have to step out and try the mint julep or their old fashioned, really good. The menu offers an amazing mix of southern comfort food and low country classics. The soups and appetizers are great. They have homemade chicharrons and duck fat fries for goodness sake. The sandwiches are out of this world and the pork chop and the steak frites are family favorites. Brown Dog is a great place to meet friends, take the family out for dinner, or just slide into the bar for a quick affordable lunch. The only problem I've ever had with Brown Dog is I'm not the only one who knows how good it is. It can be crowded and you may have to wait a few minutes to get in but it's worth the wait. Brown Dog is definitely not your run of the mill small town mom and pop. This restaurant would do well anywhere in the country that loves good food and a touch of the South. read more
