Who doesn't enjoy a good greasy burger? Or onion rings? THIS is the place to make it happen. A group of 12 of us graced Ouray with our presence for a friend-cation. Food is challenging in a smaller town but Maggie's made it happen. This was a fun spot to run upon. The signatured walls + great menu offered great options for everyone. The tables ranged from large to small so we were all able to hang and eat. The location is central Ouray and plenty of street parking nearby. Touristy vibe but that isn't a bad thing. Food was solid. You get exactly what you expect. The prices were fair. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We had a grea time. The fries are hand hand cut and Fresh. They regularly win awards for their amazing onion rings. Service is always fast and friendly, even when the line is out the door and down the street. Every time I visit Ouray, I always stop at Maggie's kitchen for a burger and fries. This time I got the blu cheese burger and fries and a drink. Their burgers are awesome, cooked to order, and the fries are good home cut style-thick fries. Of course the pricing is high, but everything is in Ouray. Expect to pay Around $20 per meal plus tip in Ouray for breakfast and lunch and much higher for dinner. The ambience is nice, busy and loud indoors, nice and relaxing outdoors on their patio that faces Main Street. I highly recommend, I saw a review on here saying they automatically added a large tip, I haven't verified if they did that to me but will for sure. It's self serve, you order your burger at the window inside, get your drink, pick up your order when they call your name. Also there's a burger bar area where you can add condiments, pickles, onions etc if needed. Their selection of creative burgers is fun and covers all the bases. This place really does have delicious burgers! We had an elk burger with coleslaw, as well as a green chili cheeseburger with French fries. Both burgers were large and had amazing flavor. The green chili burger reminded me of one of my favorite burgers I've ever eaten, in New Mexico a few years ago. It really hit the spot, and the French fries that came with it were also really great. The counter service was quick, friendly, and no-frills. The food also came out decently quickly and the toppings and condiment bar was really nice. Very disappointed in this local business. I went there today, ordered two cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings and a drink. $37 including tax. Fair enough for a local business. Now I'm back home and noticed this no service , 'call your name to pick up yourself' restaurant automatically gave themselves a $9.50 tip on my Apple Card. Automatically! Never asked. Never disclosed. They just gave themselves a 30% tip. We are a tourist community. We depend on local businesses to be ethical. The fact that they did this to a local is I guess doubly galling. We were visiting our son and his fiancée in Durango and drove up to Ouray for the afternoon. Maggie's Kitchen is apparently very popular, as evidenced by the crowd. We were fortunate enough to score a table; there is both inside and outside table seating, including down on the sidewalk, and counter style outside wood seating. You order your food and then bring it back to your table. They specialize in burgers, and we all had different ones. They were good and the fries were good also. Next door to the restaurant is the bar where beer is ordered. Kind of weird but the older guy serving made us wait a good five minutes or more while he counted his cash, and took longer than usual to pour three beers, in what looked like 12 oz mugs, for $8 a piece. Calling him Chuckles is being ironic. Ouray is beautiful and fun, and we're glad we came, and happy we tried Maggie's. read more

This was the best hamburger I've ever had in my entire life. Good size, quality meat, cooked to perfection. I'm dreaming about going back to Ouray just for this! Service is pretty simple, you go to the counter and place your order and wait for them to call your name. Then you head to a table of your choice and enjoy. We loved our lunch at Maggie's Kitchen so much that we came back the next day for lunch again. I had the hamburger and fries both days and my wife had pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw the first day and the grilled chicken sandwich and slaw the 2nd day. This place is crowded and the large tables and front porch pushed community! We sat on the porch both days and enjoyed watching the world go by! We ate lunch here yesterday! The food was overall pretty good, with a couple misses. The BBQ burger was HUGE! My son said he'd have to dislocate his jaw to get his mouth around it! The fries were similar to Five Guys, which is a very good thing! The coleslaw was exceptional as well. I love good coleslaw, and I am usually disappointed by what accompanies sandwiches at most restaurants. What could have been better: the onion rings were so close to being very good! The breading on them was light. They need to use SWEET onions and add a little more salt to the breading, and the onion rings would be stellar. The chicken fried steak was mid. My daughter said the white gravy on the steak tasted like the Pioneer country gravy mix you buy at the store. We did not care for the decor of the inside of the restaurant. There was handwriting scribbles all over the tables, walls, ceiling--everywhere. It just made the restaurant feel a little grimy. This is a must-stop if you're staying or driving by. Located right off Main Street, grab the first parking space since lunch time is prime tourist time. This place looks small but there is seating outside and upstairs which has covered picnic table area. The burgers are truly unbelievable and cooked to your preference right on the spot. The wait time from when you order and when it comes out of the kitchen is 5-6 minutes so grab a seat and wait for your name to be screamed....they really do scream your name. Best hamburger I've had in a long time! Maggies has counter service, and isn't big on ambiance, but the food more than makes up for that. I had a Mushroom Cheeseburger and it was moist and flavorful. My wife's Reuben was so big she took half of it home. The staff was terrific too. I went to the counter and asked if they has something I could use to wrap her leftover. The young woman pointed to the self-service counter where they had a whole stack of foil-backed paper more than large enough to use. Perfect. They have booths and tables large enough for groups, too. Maggie's Kitchen appears to be a staple in Ouray, Colorado. It is a burger and fries haunt. They are not fancy but really know how to make a great and flavorful burger. We have stopped here multiple times and have never been disappointed with the burgers. The line was long but moved well. The menu is chalked on the wall and they have dogs, chicken, rubens, venison burgers and the pile of onion rings that will feed a family of five easily. The burgers are the star. We ordered the burger with swiss cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms. The burgers are accompanied with a side of french fries. The fries were fair, a bit soggy and lacking salt. I wanted an order of rings but after seeing the size, I realized it was to much. The star was the burger, no surprise. The grilled onions with mushrooms and cheese was perfect. I needed a handful of napkins as it was juicy, NOT GREASY! Two things we noticed. You need a trash can on the porch so you don't have to fight through the crowd to bus your trash. I also think you could cut back on your portion size as we noted just how much food customers were throwing away as it was to much food. The atmosphere is loud, crowded and a great vibe. It is hard to have a quiet conversation here, but smiles are abundant. To make the experience better, take a seat on the front porch. You can enjoy a great burger and watching people strolling down the sidewalks. read more

What a great find, totally stumbled on the place after being rudely told pets were never allowed at Ouray Brewery (but they were at one time). Saw the signs on the front window that they were voted Best Hamburger several years in a row, so they have a lot to live up to. Dang they deserve that award. Really one of the best hamburgers I've ever had. Seasoned perfectly, over a grill I think as it had some smoky flavor, the Serrano chile pepper was great as was the amount of bacon! The fries were fresh cut and seasoned and fried perfectly. Seems like a family run restaurant with staff always buzzing about cleaning tables and taking care of customers. It's an order at the front type of place and then they call out your name and it was surprisingly quick. You put your own condiments on and take a seat indoors or outdoors. The outdoors is dog/pet friendly and it's right next door to Mr. Grumpy Pants Brewing which has a very small but excellent selection of beer. My only suggestion is at the soda machine where you can get water, there's a sign there that says the water from the soda machine is for humans only, and if you want water for your dogs, go to the bathroom to fill up. That really struck me the wrong way, and I hope they take that down as it can't really be that much of a cost to provide cold and filtered water for a handful of dogs that come through daily. It's just not worth pissing off a customer like me. Had I seen that first, I probably would not have chosen to eat here, which is a shame because I would miss out on that tasty burger and fries. There's just no need to be that anal about which being gets to drink water from the soda machine. I want to give this place 5 stars but that is such an unfriendly unwelcoming sign. Even if I didn't have my dog with me, it rubs me the wrong way.. Please consider just removing that sign. read more

The food was decent. My chicken sandwich was pretty good. The fries aren't my style. I don't like soft undercooked fries. Soda machine was good. All the fixings at the back table were good and well stocked. Decent selection on the menu board. The ambiance was very cool and unique and I liked it. Most of the employees were nice. So why only 3 stars... Besides the fries not being good there was one employee at the register who was extremely rude to me and everyone in my group. She had a bad attitude and was very snappy towards us and our questions. We all made sure that we didn't come back here during our big overlanding trip here in Colorado.
