Brows are my thing -- the beauty maintenance I take the most seriously outside of maybe my hair-- and I had an incredible brow specialist in LA that I trusted deeply. I kept hearing little bits of BIG praise through friends-of-friends about Brows by Ash, and eventually booked an appointment. Fast forward a few years later, and Ash has become my go-to for monthly brows and lip waxes. She is beyond professional and, in my opinion, the best brow specialist on Oʻahu -- hard stop. What I appreciate most is that she truly listens. She cares about the look you're trying to achieve, supports your brow goals, and will always give her honest professional opinion when needed, which I value so much. Her work is consistently precise, natural, and tailored to your face. Beyond that, she's just a joy to be around -- personable, funny, kind, humble, and clearly someone who takes immense pride in her craft. Her studio is spotless, beautifully designed, and always has great music playing in the background, which somehow makes the entire appointment feel calming and elevated. And as an added bonus, her adorable pups usually greet you at the door, which honestly just makes the whole experience even better. I literally don't let anyone else touch my brows except for her since she's the best I've experienced on the island. She offers eyebrow shaping/ waxing, brow tinting, brow lamination and lash lifts and tint. Ashley is extremely thorough, super friendly and easy to talk to and plays great music! Everything is pain-free and you know she knows what she's doing. Her prices are great for how much work she puts into tweezing and waxing every little hair. The space is conveniently located on the second floor of the PanAm building so there's plenty of parking and it is really easy to find (follow signs for PanAm building annex) and is really cute and super clean! Ashley is really meticulous and wipes and sanitizes everything before each client. Keep in mind she is usually booked for weeks so book in advance on her website. She posts frequently on Instagram whenever she has a rare opening so make sure you follow her too! It's honestly such a relaxing experience I look forward to it every time!

I chose Yuriko and would not go to anyone else because: Artistry 1. She is an artist. Her work shown in photos is even, smooth, enhancing, and natural. Her color choices are good. I'm cautious about anything permanent, I trust her. I get compliments on my brows and eyeliner. So far, 5 people have asked me for her contact info. 2. She individualizes each person's procedure and listens to what end effect is desired. She noticed that I raise my eyebrows a lot in conversation, so adjusted my eyebrow design to work with it (so I wouldn't look shocked/crazy). 3. I'm not a stunner, but Yuriko has helped my face look like a put together version - AND I don't have to do my brows or eyeliner daily. Experience 1. Yuriko has years of experience and training from both Japan and the US. 2. She continues to keep up with industry standards and products. She goes out of state for training, product shows. Professionalism 1. Yuriko measures, consults w you, explains, and we agree on what's going to be done before she starts. 2. She's warm and approachable. e.g., I am comfortable telling her I need more numbing cream during the process. 3. She provides pre-and post-instructions before the procedure. 4. When that day came around Lily numbed my lips and started. Everything was fine until she started talking about her personal life. It honestly started to get very annoying and awkward because she also talked about these old men that she was seeing and doing more with. I was disgusted wanting to walk out but couldn't. Also my lips has developed a severe reaction where it tingles and it keeps drying up. I'm awaiting on a test where they had to punch my lip to get skin. They say it may have been from filth which the place is cute but there's garbage, cotton tips everywhere! I'm now worried if the needle was clean! Save yourself and go somewhere else that's safe! It's not worth it especially when I paid in full. The vibe was okay at first but seriously too much information to a complete stranger! I'm glad I didn't pay to get my lashes done!

I am not the most sociable person, but talking to her is like talking to my best friend. She is really one of the few who takes a deep interest in your life and will remember the things you've mentioned in the conversation from the last session. She goes the extra mile to make sure you're doing okay even outside of work. She needs to get a job in counseling/therapy because, girl, you're so good at giving advice to someone who needs a lending ear! I don't know what it is about Kalei, but we need to protect her at all cost. Not only is she GREAT at the work she does on my eyebrows, she is the most humblest, open-minded person I've ever came across in my entire life.. a really rare piece of jewel! With that being said, I'll upload a before/after pics of my eyebrows once it grows out. I'm surprised I've never done it yet, but I'm really amazed by Kalei's work. Because I do not come in frequently, I typically see anyone who is there (I understand that is my fault, and now I am aware that I shouldn't just go to anyone). However, every time I have been here, I have had wonderful experiences. I came in today to get my brow done before the new year. I went into Hawaii Threading (Keʻeaumoku location) around 2:26 PM. The lady who took me (I didn't get her name because she didn't introduce herself) finished my brows in 5 minutes, and that isn't an exaggeration. When I left, around my brows were very inflamed, which had happened before, so I thought nothing of it. However, I didn't notice until I got home that my brows were extremely uneven. First off, the shape of both brows is different. One of my brows has way more hair than the other but is shorter, and the other is very thin. She did "trim" my brows, but the hairs are uneven. I'm very disappointed with the results and wish I'd gotten her name, because this is unacceptable.
