As I was heading to NOLA for an assignment, my friend and I met up with another friend here for some gluten-free BBQ and southern eats. Upon entering, we started with a round of drinks, mainly old fashioneds. It's an oldie but a goodie for all of us since we're pretty basic. Had a smoky scent to it; that would be the theme for the appetizer round. It complimented the homemade pickles that accompanied the waters they served us prior to receiving our adult beverages. For appetizers, we ordered a side of the crispy brussels sprouts, the smoked wings, and the smoked queso. Sprouts had some peppers and candied bacon mixed in and topped with relish. Tasty although they could've done without the relish. The wings are tossed in a smoky guajillo sauce and drizzled with a white bbq sauce. Of course I was all over this given my love for white bbq sauce. The wings had nice tenderness with the meat and the guajillo and white bbq sauces mex well together. The smoked queso had some brisket mixed in; it had a slight kick to it with the spice and smokiness was apparent in taste. We were very happy with it and it was the favorite of the appetizers. As for entrees, I went with the slider trio (pulled pork, pulled chicken, chopped brisket) with a side of cole slaw. The pulled chicken was probably the best of the three; the pulled pork was solid too, I'm not a fan of brisket being chopped but the brisket pieces did have balance of fattiness mixed in for flavor. The cole slaw complimented the sliders well. My friends ordered the turkey and fig sandwich and the Q1 plate (pulled pork & pulled chicken); both got cole slaw as the sides. They also ordered a side of mac & cheese. They both finished their dishes; the turkey and fig sandwich got praise from my friend; maybe next time I'll get that. The mac & cheese had an intense cheese flavor; I don't mind it but beware as some may consider it too rich for their taste buds. We had efficient service as our server was available and made sure we had sauces/utensils when the new courses came out. A solid BBQ/Southern restaurant, BRQ is a cool one in my book.

We were back again on July 9th for moms birthday. We brought along a couple friends with us. They absolutely loved the atmosphere, the food and the service. They said they will definitely be going back and they will be bringing their friends too. I had the smoked pork tenderloin with Tasso cream sauce and mashed potatoes. OMG! Absolutely amazing. Melt is your mouth. Mom had the ribs again. Our friends ordered the pulled pork quesadilla and the chicken Quesadilla it did not disappoint. We all shared everything so they could taste and they were blown away ! And the carrot cake was massive for mom's birthday. Unbelievable! Thanks again for another successful dinner.

We stopped in at BRQ Seafood and Barbecue, and it did not disappoint. Right off the bat, they brought homemade chips and pickles to the table, simple but a great touch, and both were excellent. My wife went with the BRQ Breakfast Burrito loaded with pulled pork, and she loved it. I ordered the Q2 combo and went with pulled chicken and ribs, plus pit beans on the side. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone good with great flavor, and the chicken was spot on, moist without being greasy or dry. I also got to try each of the four barbecue sauces, and they all had their own unique kick. Service was friendly and quick, and the food really speaks for itself. If you're looking for solid barbecue with a little extra flair, BRQ is worth the stop.

I had a delicious lunch at BRQ the other day. The service was good. I love figs so I had to try this sandwich. Smoke turkey and fig sandwich. And it was so good! Can't wait to go back and get it again. I love the pickles and chips they serve you while you wait for your food. The inside is very nice too!

This place is so cute! Good service and the food was pretty good. I think the sauce flight makes a hugeeeee difference on the flavor of the meats. The Mac and cheese is very cheesy, which I love. The breakfast burrito is yummy, as are the onion rings. The grits are super good too, but they were very runny/liquidy so keep that in mind. I literally HAVEEE to go back asap to try the famous giant carrot cake! My jaw dropped when I saw another table order it.

Brie and crab empanadas-$18. Really good if you like blue crab. They don't Play! It's stuffed full.

No expectations, bc this was my First time. They bring you delicious homemade potato chips and sweet pickles for an addictive snack for starters. You have to pay $$$ for tiny bottle cokes. As far as BBQ goes- I'll say this, it's "pre-sauced" and a tad greasy. It's ok. A little salty. Carrot Cake - 1000%!! I'd go back for that!.

This is by far one of the best places to eat in Lafayette. It's not your typical BBQ joint. It's upscale and classy but also laid back and comfortable. I try something new every time we visit and the flavors do not disappoint. The wait staff is always so friendly and helpful if we have questions. They always bring me a little extra of their house made pickles, I can never get enough. Today was exactly what we needed and everything was super delicious.

this place has the most amazing food our waitress Kelsey is the bomb. She is so sweet and so tentative they need to give this girl a raise.

I didn't actually visit the location. We had BRQ as the catered meal at work. I was able to try their brisket, coleslaw, and white meat chicken. The brisket was good but the chicken was amazing. I didn't even look for barbecue sauce. The coleslaw was actually some of the best I've ever had. The staff was so courteous. Overall it was really good food. I'll definitely be a patron vote that I've had it. The chicken alone will keep me coming back.

I going often to have drinks and do some work at the bar. The bar team is the best! My favorite Olivia as I followed her from a previous restaurant and happy she's now in my neighborhood. She will lift your spirits like no other. Food wise, their crab cake and cheeseburger are 2 of my go tos, delicious!

Perfect place to have a work lunch and come back to the office with no energy. Lol! Food is amazing, my coworkers come specifically for the salads. I've never had to wait for a lunch table and the service is always on point.

I got the happy hour margarita which was okay but they I tried the Ghost margarita.( if I'm remembering it correctly) I should've been getting that drink from the start omg. The presentation alone made me love the drink. The ice, the tajin, omg it was good. I decided on the beef short rib and wasn't disappointed. The short rib was so tender, very flavorful. The dish was a bit on the oily side for me, more gravy would have been nice. Beside that I loved this meal. My date had the seafood pasta with shrimp and crabmeat. They give you a decent amount of crabmeat. He enjoyed his food so no complaints! I'll definitely be back.

We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

We didn't have a prefixed menu, so we got to order whatever we would have liked from the regular menu. There was such a good variety of options! I got the Brussels sprouts and boudin dip to start. I highly recommend both of these as the portion sizes were huge! The Brussels sprouts were burnt and balsamic like, which is my absolute favorite. The boudin dip came with so many crackers and was delicious. For my meal, I got the chicken paillard. It was good but the portion was very small compared to the appetizers in my opinion. The chicken was very moist and flavorful. It filled me up because I had two appetizers, but I don't think it would be enough for me without having something to go with it.
