This is my go-to restaurant in Plainfield. My wife and I love going here for a beer and gourmet burger. I love the garlic 3 cheese burger so much I get it every time. My family has been trying to support local businesses during the pandemic and decided to order from Bru Burger since we hadn't been in a while. As always they never disappoint! Ordering over the phone during the pandemic was very easy. We ordered for 6 people and each container was properly labeled so we could tell what was inside before opening it. All of our food was still hot when we got it home and each of the burgers we ordered were cooked at the requested temp. I had the gorgonberry pecan salad with salmon which is always life changing every time I order it! I don't know what it is about this salad but it's AMAZING!!! Often you get salads with too much or too little of something but that's never the case with this salad. EVERYTHING from the pecans to the cranberries and dressing are just enough and perfect! Usually one of my favorite places to eat. Tonight was very disappointing! We ordered burgers and onion rings. Wait was longer than usual, our waiter came by said yours is in the window will be up next. About 10 minutes later he brought out our burgers said didn't want these to get cold still waiting on your onion rings. Burgers definitely had been sitting not hot barely warm. About 10 minutes later he brought out a plate of burnt onion rings with burnt fries on it , 1 small cup of ketchup not even our own cup of ketchup. Said I still owe you more onion rings we told him we didn't order any fries he said it's ok they are free. All cold burnt and greasy! We both had our own orders that's how our side of onion rings should have came out with our own separate side of ketchup! We had ordered an appetizer at the start we had to ask for plates for that . No offer of refills on our drinks, we had him take the fries and onion rings back we hadn't touched them, of course he had never brought out the so called onion rings he stated he owed us. This is probably my favorite burger spot in town! I am a pescatarian, so one of my favorite items on the menu is the Ahi Tuna Burger. They have a variety of burgers to choose from as well as being able to substitute any burger or patty as well. So whether you are a meat eater, vegetarian or whatever you preference is, Bru Burger has something for every palate. Love the atmosphere here - it's less crowded than the downtown location so it's easy to relax and have a nice conversation. Of course, the food is always stellar. The menu is limited, but everything is special and carefully designed. Onion rings and fries are fantastic and I love the touch of the house made sauces and ketchup. Our server today was Dirk and he's waited on us before - he does a great job!! Very knowledgeable and relaxed - he doesn't make his tables feel hurried at all. This is one of the places my husband and I have had on the list of easy and dependable places for an impromptu date night. We love the food and even tonight it was great. But we sat at 7:45 and ordered our drinks with food quickly to follow. We didn't realize it was the Devour menu, but what we wanted was on it, so we both ordered from it. Our server had a trainee, which usually is a positive indication of an excellent service experience, but, alas, such was not the case tonight. The Devour menu has you pick your appetizer and entree at the same time. My husband ordered the Bru Fries and I had the sriracha Caesar half salad. While we waited we went through our initial round of drinks and the table next to us was cashing out. Our servers came and went from their table 4 times without a glance in our direction. Finally I asked if we could order another round as one of them began to walk away. It took more than 20 minutes for our appetizers to come. They were delicious. Once we ordered our second round of drinks, they came in an expeditious fashion. It was probably 20 minutes before we had finished our appetizers and realized it had been 45 minutes since we sat down and hadn't seen our servers since our drinks arrived. I had gone inside to ask for a manager to inquire about the delay when he came with the food as I walked back to the table. I told him I'd just asked for him as it seemed as though this was a very long ticket time and, for having a trainee learning the ropes, our server wasn't particularly attentive; I speculated she was doing her closing side work. The manager barely made eye contact and was shifting his weight in a manner that indicated he wasn't really listening and just wanted to go. He made an excuse that our server was new to being a trainer and offered neither an explanation nor an apology for how long we waited. As people who dine here on roughly a monthly basis, the subtext was that he didn't care. When our sever did come back after this, she then stopped by the table to offer dessert while we were just starting in on our entrees . She dropped a card from the manager and said "my manager wanted me to give you this" (a card for an appetizer or dessert) - still no apology or acknowledgement of how long it took to get our food. I served and worked in restaurants in high school, college, part time and during the summer for a while as a teacher, and during grad school. I understand that sometimes you forget stuff and make mistakes, but you have to tell people what's going on, be genuine, and pay attention to them. I can understand a server having a bad night, but acknowledge it. I'm not one to grab a manager at the drop of a hat, so when I do, act like you genuinely care. I don't care about the coupon- I wanted to know what was going on and some recognition that time is valuable. This isn't the standard of service I've come to expect at Cunningham Group restaurants and I really hope it was just an off night at Bru. read more

The atmosphere and clientele differs from the menu price if I'm being extremely picky, but just about everything on the menu is incredible. My wife and I eat Bru Burger regularly, almost every week. Lately we've been going to the one on Mass Ave, but today we went here. The bourbon burger (which the wife gets every single time)bottom bun is so soggy it's hard to pick up. The fries are soggy as hell only 15 minutes after pickup. The fries at the Mass. Ave location stayed crispy for hours even as leftovers in open air. The onion rings were literally too greasy for me to eat and I had to throw them out as no one wanted them. I usually end up frustrated with this place. The food is okay, but the craft beer chalk board is a mess. Half the names listed are beers, while half are the names of breweries. A brewery name does me no good. I realize that taps sometimes rotate beers, but the beer name should be listed. Also, the bartenders have very limited beer knowledge. Great place to experience the famous Bru Burger without having to go downtown AND no wait. There is definitely a more suburban crowd versus urban crowd here. The service is great and quick. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable, and overall just super nice. Obviously there's a lot more space than the downtown location so you're not bumping elbows with the table next to you. We had a family birthday get together here. About 10 of us, including 2 young ones. From the reviews we had read I was tempted to move it, but didn't. Good thing! The staff was wonderful, responsive to our needs and very friendly The meals were great. Everyone was sharing with others and commenting how great their meals were. We had brought a birthday cake so the waitress brought out forks and glass plates, which we told her we brought our owns suggested save ours and use theirs. How kind is that? We have come to the Bru Burger in Plainfield for quite some time now, and my family and I decided to go there for dinner tonight. We were seated and greeted by our waiter and right away he asked if our party was the 6 person or 9 person party- when we were clearly at a table with 6 chairs. He took our drink orders (which didn't come out right) and whisked away. When he came back with the drinks he asked if we wanted appetizers. My husband and I barely answered and he walked away so fast that my other family members didn't even get a chance to order. This service continued poorly the rest of the meal. He did refill our drinks, but he was barely around and we could hardly get a word in when he was. Our food came out - all sandwiches had added tomato on them and had a side of black pepper mayo - and none of us requested any of that. The helper with the plates stared at us and said "Well, do you want the burgers still?" And our waiter said "They all wanted to add tomato". I said "No, none of us did." He didn't apologize. He walked away with my brother's plate and was gone for 10 seconds and came back with the same plate. The waiter had taken the tomato off and put the bun back on - we know this because he wasn't gone long enough and we accepted the sandwiches with tomato on them and peeled it off - so when my brother took the bun off of his burger it looked the same as ours. The waiter doing this was quite rude because of his initial defensiveness, COVID and he didn't take it back to the kitchen - not sanitary. The waiter literally was too lazy to do the right thing and the wait staff didn't make any attempt to make our order right. We really like Bru Burger, but this experience was awful and enough to where we wouldn't come back to this location. read more

The wait for seating was extremely long as well as once we were seated our drinks were mixed up several times and it took over 90 minutes once we were seated for our waitress to come take our order and turn it in after another 40 minutes we received our food which was all messed up again. In my opinion this Bru Burger is not anywhere near as good as the Mass Ave one. It is decorated nice, but the food and service was awful. We sat down and no one helped us for over 10 minutes not even to get water!! We then ordered and the fries are not the same as Mass Ave. they had different texture and not the crunchy goodness of the other location. Burger was ok. Really upset about service though. It took them 20 min after we had finished our food for someone to take our card. Disappointed in this Plainfield Location. will stick to Mass Ave now. read more

I would recommend getting a snack size burger and asking to have it done up with the toppings of the desired burger (they charge a little for this, but then you're still paying less than the regular size and getting a portion that you can really finish. I heard good things, but was not impressed at all.. seemed very hipster and I'm willing to bet my burger came from a frozen patty. It was very mediocre. I had the patty melt and would have rather went to a Wendy's or something. If you put the word burger in your name I expect more. The reviews I read that were good seem to all be from vegans and vegetarians which to me have zero credibility to rate food especially burgers. The atmosphere seemed suited for those that would work in a vapor shop.(deuchy). Also no one cares about your ketchup. If you made a good burger then we wouldn't need and ketchup or any of your other fancy toppings. I wouldn't serve Top Ramen with a homemade sauce.
