This is a nice neighborhood bar located in Franklin, IN. There is free street parking available within a reasonable walking distance from the bar. The bar has a historic nostalgic feel to it and no one under 21 is allowed in. I really enjoyed the staff. They were friendly, welcoming and helpful. You will find a small dining area with a bar with seating inside. The dining area booths are reserved for parties of two or more. So, I ended up sitting at the bar. They do have a digital juke box that had music playing throughout the bar. There are also televisions above the bar to watch. The bar has a limited menu, that includes tenderloin, salad, grilled cheese, chicken tenders, and poppers. But all you need to know is that they are known for their burgers. So, I ordered a burger with fries. It was prepared fresh and took about 15 minutes to have ready. The fries were good and the burger was juicy, tasty and delicious. It definitely lived up to the hype. Being that it is a bar, they have the full spectrum of adults drinks and also have a wide assortment beer and signature cocktails. Stopped in on a Friday night after hearing good things and wanting a quick bite. The food menu here is pretty short, which was exactly what I needed. Jalapeno poppers were pretty good - a lot more cream cheese than jalapeno, and it was a long shred of jalapeno so you got the pepper in one bite and cream cheese/breading in the rest. Pork tenderloin was pretty good, just not particularly memorable. Onion rings were good, but a little overcooked (same with the poppers.) Service was excellent, all things considered - it was a pretty full house for the small space, and people were moving to larger tables as they became available so I'm sure the wait staff was doing the best they could. I'm not a big bar guy, so I can't compare to many. Overall the experience was all right - not bad and probably great if this is your scene. We were looking for a local bar to grab some lunch before we started browsing the shops along Jefferson Street. We walked in The Grill and both said "Oh it's dark in here" just like we like our bars. This is a quaint, laid back, small town bar with a small basic menu with appetizers (mini tacos, cheeseball, poppers, mushrooms) and limited sandwiches (burgers, tenderloins, ham & cheese, BLT, chicken tenders, chicken salad), a full bar and a juke box for tunes. We didn't take advantage of the junk box because we were enjoying the variety of rock and roll playing while there. Everyone from the bartender, cook and server was fun and friendly. The drinks and lunch arrived timely and service was great. They have a limited number of draft (4) beers on tap. My husband had one of (can't remember the name) but he did not enjoy. It was a beer he'd had before but couldn't explain why this one wasn't appealing. He ordered the grilled tenderloin (option of breaded too) which was served with chips. He thought the sandwich was fine but very bland and would have preferred with some type of seasoning (Cajun). I ordered the hot ham and cheese melt on wheat with a side of onion rings. The grilled cheese sandwich was very good with thin slices of ham, tomatoes and dill pickles just as I requested. The onion rings were on the edge of being overcooked but still edible for me. I'm not an extra crispy, or heavy batter, type of person which is why I always warn the server. Horrible service. Terrible experience from the start. Sat down and the rude server threw a coaster across the table at us. She took our order and never came back to the table until 50 minuets later I had to wave her to the table to give us our checks. She never came to check on us or even see if our food was ok. She then came to the table with no receipt telling my guest and I how much we owe. The guest I was with gave the server cash to pay her bill and tip. A six pack of Yuengling. But, according to the bartender they can only sell "DOMESTIC" carry out. I don't know how the oldest brewery in the county is A. Not considered domestic, or B. sold as carry out at an increased price. What the actual fuck, I thought businesses WANTED customers? Well, that it I'm all done. That was the last chance. Bottom line is, do yourself a favor, go to Greeks Pizzaria or Jeff Street Pub, or just the liquor store. It's not worth the frustration. I wish I could give it zero stars. First time caller! Great service in this local watering hole. Stopped in on a Thursday evening while passing through Franklin for a bite to eat. Definitely a popular place on a thutsday. The waitress was very friendly and quickly got us a couple of beers. They were called "big ass" beers and they sure were. Nice and cold as well. I was in there about a month ago with a group of friends and could immediately feel the rude unfriendly vibe from the bartender. I have been here 3 times. The food is always nice and the service has been bad once. When the older women are bar tending the place is stellar. Beer selection is ok but not wide. They have a hell of a Saturday special on mason jar drafts. The fried mushrooms are nice as well as the cheese balls. My burger was delicious and my buddy had a tasty tenderloin. We stayed on the one bad night until shifts changed and the next bartender really redeemed the service quality for us. I wish they had 3.5 stars. As far as bar food goes this is above average. Menu is different some nights (taco night, fish, etc.) it is a dive, but the cook station is right behind the bar--if it wasn't up to snuff, you'd be able to see it.
