Favorite items include: each kid got 2 items, husband has to get a bit of taffy, mini Reese's pieces, some specialty chocolate, and some butter mints. This is a very fun place to go to!! You can actually see taffy being made!! If you go in the door where all the windows are you can watch people make taffy, Carmel apples and sometimes Carmel corn! And they have all different kinds of Carmel apples, not just the basic apple with caramel over it. Some have Oreo cookies and Butterfinger pieces. And I couldn't have even counted how many flavors of taffy they make in house. It's definitely a great place to go in Cannon Beach!! read more

Bruce's Candy Kitchen is such a cute store. The young ladies working there are super nice and helpful. Just know going in, it's not cheap but most of us shopping in there were probably tourists and how often do we get a chance to shop in this type of store. It's in Cannon Beach so I'm sure that makes it a tiny bit more expensive. I did not get any taffy but they had so many different yummy sounding flavors. You also get to watch them make some of it. We spent about $20. I'm a Dots fan so I got some watermelon flavored. Also got some little coconut almond haystacks and some mint cookie malt balls. The haystacks were ok but the malt balls were delicious. Nice minty flavor and the malt ball was nice and fresh and not hard like some I've tried. Fun little beach town candy / toy shop. Everybody was really nice and welcoming. It's by the beach so of course a lot of taffy. They have a few other candy stations like jelly beans, powder, bagged candy, etc. It would be nice if they had an even bigger selection to diy candy bag. read more

We LOVED this candy shop! So cute, and plenty to choose from. They have a window were you can see them making the salt water taffy, and a taffy bar. Lots of stuffed animals and trinkets to purchase. I'm not happy. My mother is a 77 year old who has trouble walking and standing. She order sugar free candy at the counter and then the lady behind the counter told her she can have it when she is ready to leave and pay. I also was standing there and her tone was quite rude. Then we checked out and got home and was given the wrong items that we paid good money for. I am very angry. I will call tomorrow. My mom used cash because she doesn't have credit card. read more

And right outside the window is freshly made taffy for you to taste. Now usually I'm not really a fan of taffy but freshly made and warm and it was a nicely sweet and tarty lemon flavored taffy I could't resist. Sure enough. I bought a bag of assorted taffy. A Cannon Beach landmark for centuries . Almost . It's just normal procedure to visit for candy. You can't get fresher salt water taffy . Made right there . Most , if not all chocolate treats you see behind the counter , are $33 a pound. Obviously inflation has hit . But I believe the candy and the experience are worth it. read more

We have known about this place for many years. We just always missed them when they were open. This time we were able to see the taffy machine in action and we explored the cool candy store. My youngest daughter was super excited and we let her pick her candy - sour strawberry ribbons. She made a good choice. We also picked a large assortment of the taffy to try later. There's something about the beach, the sand and the water that makes me crave a little sugar. I must not be the only one, because Bruce's Candy Kitchen was hopping with customers-even amid the social distancing/COVID pandemic stuff. Upon entry, there is a table with hand sanitizer and signs throughout reminding people to keep their distance from each other and asking everyone not to touch products unless you plan to buy them. Most everyone wore face masks-all the employees did, too. Now, on to why you're here: the candy. Yup, there's lots of it. Every sugary delight you can imagine-bins of candy or individually packaged. Novelty toy items to t-shirts. There's even caramel covered apples, which I'm kicking myself for not trying. The employees are friendly and check-out is relatively quick. This is a fun stop after (or before) a day at the beach to get your candy fix. It's right on the main road, so parking can be a little limited. But if you're patient, or willing to walk a block or two, you're sure to find something nearby. It may not be a bad idea to walk off some of that sugar, anyway. read more

I came here because of all of the Oregon YouTube mentions. It is totally worth the trip! The salt water taffy was amazing! This was hands down the best salt water taffy I've had in my life. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because my husband's popcorn was stale there has to be better quality control with that, especially for $6 per bag. The workers were friendly and the restaurant had a huge variety of candy! They even label which taffy contains dairy which was a huge help for me considering I have dietary restrictions! Bruce's is your typical tourist town candy shop with a bit inflated prices (I don't knock-- they have to make a living!) and the giant taffy turner in the window during peak tourist season. We happened upon this place during a little self-guided art walking tour with my 7yo and 9yo. After a bit of walking, I was happy to oblige. There's a free taffy basket at the entrance and a bunch of throwback candies, popcorns, taffies, you name it. Bruce's Candy Kitchen has been a fixture in Cannon Beach for over 50 years. Many of my friends reminisce about going there as kids and now take their children. I've been popping in and out for 19 years, ever since I moved to Portland and frequent Cannon Beach several times a year. While the pink and white stripes draw me in, I continue to have sticker shock over the extremely high prices! Just 3-4 tiny pieces of rocky road will set you back $10. Yes, all "touristy" places charge a premium, and most pay it because you are there and it adds to your experience, but since I don't consider myself a tourist, I just can't justify paying almost $28 a pound, double what most places charge. The store is jam packed with candies of all types. Old school nostalgia candy, a wall of individually dispensed flavors of Jelly Belly, an area dedicated to superhero themed candies, always popular with the kids. The counter by the register houses the homemade chocolates like the aforementioned rocky road, peanut butter cups, caramel turtles, English toffee, haystacks - be prepared to pay a lot! The caramel candy apples, many drizzled with chocolate and nuts, are more affordable at $7 per apple. Huge "saltwater taffy" bar where you can fill your own bag of the flavors you prefer. That includes some with a distinctly Oregon taste like Marrionberry and Cannon Beach Sea Salt. My friend always buys a large bag to keep on her kitchen counter for friends to enjoy. Of course there is cotton candy and fresh kettle corn, the scent intoxicating. You can see into the kitchen and watch them make the taffy and candy apples. When I'm with friends, especially those with children, I walk in and enjoy checking out the variety of candy, get nostalgic over candies I remember from my childhood, but leave empty handed. read more

I've been coming here for years...like since I was 8 or younger. For the young crowd, the wall of jelly belly is a hit. As you get older, you explore a more refined palette in the salt water taffy selection (way better than east coast taffy sorry not sorry). Eventually you explore the homemade chocolate selection like turtles, malt balls, and sea foam. But when you're old like me you still come back every year for their unique selection of licorice from around the world. read more

Bruce's Candy Kitchen is an absolute must if your in the Cannon Beach area. This is the real deal! They have more then just real their homemade real salt water taffy, like other kinds of candy, and toys. Me and my family were in the store when one the owners/managers (don't remember which or if there is a difference) was around and they were very friendly, and chatty. Very welcoming environment. Same with the employees. One treat is watching through Bruce's huge windows the (salt water taffy men) not sure what there official title is make the salt water taffy with cool machinery. It's fascinating! Big kudos to those guys!!! Price is great, and the taffy sssooo good! You can buy pre-made bags of certain flavors, or a mix. We prefer to custom make ours. There's different size bags, and the price is by weight. Flavors are amazing, just to name a few: cinnamon, peppermint, banana, and apple. I would estimate 20 some favors, and they do come out with some new ones. read more
