One bite and you're knee-deep in a foggy forest thinking you hear Bigfoot weeping quietly from joy. Of course the prices are high. You're in a town where the beach views are free and everything else makes up for it. The real gamble is who hands you your scoop. Some of us got generous lumps the size of a toddler's fist while others looked like they'd been served a sample. Such is life in a democracy. The lines wound throughout the store, but it moved along at a respectable clip. People were smiling. Sugar does that. She loved caramels and would use them to make homemade caramel popcorn quite often when I was a kid. My favorite Halloween snack was her caramel popcorn balls!
