Under new ownership, Clara and her team have brought a whole new energy to D&R. From the moment I walked in, everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely excited to have me there. Customer service like this is becoming rare, and it really stood out. One thing that surprised me was the size of the space. The photos online made it look like a tiny hole-in-the-wall bagel shop, but it's actually much larger than expected with plenty of seating. Even though it was busy and crowded during my visit, the line moved quickly and efficiently. As for the food, I came hungry. I tried the Korean BBQ on a sesame bagel, corned beef with mustard on an everything bagel flat, The Kyle on a blueberry bagel, a jalapeño bagel with cream cheese, and a pretzel bagel with cream cheese. I also sampled the buffalo chicken wrap, a hot coffee, and a caramel macchiato. The Korean BBQ was easily one of the most unique bagel sandwiches I've had and a standout menu item. Everything tasted fresh, portions were generous, and there are plenty of creative options you won't find at your average bagel shop. I've seen older reviews mention a lack of coffee options, but that's no longer the case. The coffee menu has been expanded, and the Iced caramel macchiato was a pleasant surprise! I also loved how they had Pepsi AND Coca-Cola PLUS Snapple! If you haven't visited since the ownership change, it's worth giving D&R another shot. The combination of friendly service, creative menu options, great coffee, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it feel like a completely reimagined local favorite. However, I have developed a dairy allergy within the past 4 years that was confirmed recently. I am prescribed epinephrine. When I visited home I went out to eat here twice. On both occasions I informed staff of my allergy. The first time, I asked for toast as a substitute for pancakes/french toast since they have dairy in them. Regardless I had a reaction both times. The first time I dismissed, as it seemed everyone was well intentioned and mistakes happened. The second time, I had received my toast with butter on it. I asked our server and she told me they hadn't put anything on my toast, I was sure they had, as I could see the butter as well as more on the plate itself. She took it back and gave me plain dry toast. Nonetheless I still had a reaction. The server was kind, however, I didn't appreciate someone attempting to tell me that there was not something that was indeed there. Especially when dealing with a food allergy. I likely will avoid dining here in the future as it is not allergy friendly. For those who do not have food allergies, this is a great option.

After about 15 minutes, the cashier asked my wife to come over and my wife paid for our meals. My hot Italian sub was pretty good, but pretty much every Italian sub I've ever had was better. So I don't really recommend that sammich. Our fries were cold. I should have asked for fresh fries, but I assumed everything was made to order. Nope! My wife didn't comment on her sammich, which means it was just average. Well, I guess I've seen what I needed to see. Jersey Mike's, DiBella's, and Jimmy Johns do this sub thing better.

Not a big deal for most people, and somebody may have just misunderstood or loaded the machine wrong, but either way my order as confirmed on my receipt was not what I actually received. Next time, I will be testing the drink in the drive thru so that I can actually get what I ordered instead of driving home and being out the money.
