I tried Flour Fresh Cream Donuts over the summer and was so happy to see that my school sold them on campus! It hit the spot for my craving but it was dry and cold. :( Definitely get them from the original location. The coffee here is hella mid (stay away from matcha at any location at all costs).

I've only had their korean donuts, which are from Flour. Although it's not fresh, they're still good, especially because I'm using a meal swipe. My favorite is the tiramisu. I liked the creme brulee, matcha creme brulee, and cookies and cream. The strawberry isn't my favorite.

This is my go to coffee stop when I need some caffeine. Whether it's just coffee, lattes, teas...this place gets me buzzing lol Their matcha is legit and does not have sugar mixed in like Starbucks! Norma is the best! She's always smiling and getting to know her customers.

As a UCLA student, I love coming here. I tend to have a lot of swipes, and this is one of the few places that an ASUCLA coupon will actually cover my full purchase. It is hard to hear in here, and I am hard of hearing, so I usually order via Post-It, and the staff have always been very friendly and accommodating about it. I always get a Chai Latte with oat milk & a plain croissant. The latte is delicious, and if you're really into well-made croissants you may find it disappointing (I'm sure they're not fresh made on-site), but I think it's delicious and hope you will too. I have no idea how much each of these things costs, and it may well be overpriced. I just know that I can get a large chai latte with a milk substitute & a pastry for under $9, meaning my ASUCLA coupon totally covers it. I'm taking summer courses and may not be returning to Bruin Buzz during summer, since I won't have a meal plan, but you will certainly see me here in fall.

coffee was absolutely delightful! I got an espresso and it tasted better than usual today. i wanted to give my complements to the chef and found out that ms. hoang, Emily hoang to be exact, was able to give the perfect blend of espresso! so good highly recommend (ask Emily to make it trust me on this one)

I was waiting for the UCLA Store to open up and was walking around Ackerman Union when I saw a sign that says "Now Serving Cupcakes." Ahh cupcakes! Woohoo! The sign showed that there was special filling inside their cupcakes. I knew I had to stop by once I completed my shopping at the UCLA Store. When I stopped by, I saw some vanilla cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes and what they called jelly roll cupcakes. The cupcakes are kinda small in size but I deifnitely wanted to try one. The jelly roll cupcakes were the cutest. Pink frosting with a raspberry on top. I decided to get one of those. The cost of the cupcake was $2.79 including tax. Tastewise the cupcake was ok. The main cupcake itself wasn't too moist. There was filling inside but it wasn't too much. It was raspberry filling. The frosting was ok but mostly sugar base. The raspberry on top was a gummy candy raspberry. Hmm I kinda liked the gummy candy raspberry concept on top of the cupcake. It was a nice touch. Anyways the cupcakes were ok. They're definitely not the greatest but it is kinda neat to see a cupcake place on campus :). I think they should make special blue and gold UCLA cupcakes That would definitely be cool :). Hmm and then maybe they could put a gummy bear on top (to symbolize a Bruin).... :)...hmm what do you think? :)

4 stars for their chocolate croissants, -1 because it's $2.90 for a pastry not made there. 2 stars for their coffee. Ordered a white chocolate mocha and it was so nasty. It tasted like medicine and kinda had a plastic taste. Asked them to remake it and one of the ladies really didn't want to so they just added more sweetener, asked them again and they ended up making me a mocha.

The thing I love most about Bruin Buzz is that it seems to be staffed almost entirely by aliens from outer space, who have found it their unhappy lot in life to have crashed onto this dismal planet, where they are forced, inexplicably, to make coffee for thankless undergraduates, (whose general appearance they have assumed, naturally, in order to make themselves less conspicuous). Never mind that they are unfamiliar with "coffee." Never mind that they have no familiarity with earth money, with its foolish denominations and ridiculous appearance. That's about all I can come up with to explain the friendly, blank stares of un-recognition when I order a regular cup of "coffee." (Would it help if I pointed to the sign, guys?) That's the only reason I can imagine for the smiling-but-shell-shocked demeanor on display as they sloooowly make my (occasionally correct!) change. The point is, imagining these scenarios in line does actually delight me, and Bruin Buzz has got the best coffee on campus -- so, four stars guys. I hope by the time your spaceship is fixed you will have the coffee thing down well enough to take some home and impress your friends.

Also, sometimes in the afternoon, the milk teas aren't available (when it's too late to brew more tea). The matcha here is creamy and earthy yet sweet. There are just two large tables outside, so you'll likely need to sit around strangers. Service is good, but a bit slow because of how small the store is. Keep an eye out for good deals!! They also gave me a cup of the coconut water used which was also sweet and refreshing. The barista was also super nice and you can tell that he enjoyed his job and interacting with the customers. The drinks were very good and exactly what you'd expect from a quality café. But the food presentation--wow! It completely exceeded my expectations. I honestly wasn't expecting this level of presentation from a café. The portions were generous as well, leaving us completely satisfied. I also tried one of their pastries that reminded me of a cinnamon roll. It was enjoyable, though as a professional baker and pastry chef, I felt the pastries were the one area with room for improvement. In my opinion, they seemed to prioritize elegance and originality over achieving the best texture and flavor. Even so, they were still good, and I appreciated the creativity. I arrived around 6:13 AM, 17 minutes before opening, after dropping a friend off nearby for her work at Trader Joe's in Westwood who starts @6am. Usually when I have an early work call, I go to Bluestone Café because of the ambiance I've experienced before as a former UCLA Student, who is now Recently Graduated Btw. I asked Angel if it was okay to sit and get set up while HE finished opening, I also offered to help if needed, and he was friendly and understanding, and I only set up 1 table because it was out of the kindest of my heart AND he was awesome. Not even 6 minutes passed by but, I could tell he's a solid, smile oriented customer service worker with a big heart. A few minutes later, at 6:22am Carol approached me and told me to leave, after I had just ordered because Angel was treating me with 5 star hospitality! The restaurant was not open yet, AND I completely understand that a business has opening hours, and I would have had no problem waiting outside if that had been communicated respectfully by the "owner." The issue was the way the owner of Bluestone Café, Carol, spoke to me as her claiming she's "the owner" because she knows people in the district? Ok carol. She raised her voice, treated me like I was a problem, and made me feel extremely unwelcome. I left upset because the situation did not need to be handled that way. Angel, however, remained kind and professional, and I want to make clear that this review is not about him. Angel provided excellent customer service. "I was a disturbance," allegedly though to Carol when I asked why she raised her voice at me like that. No where near was I about to counter her asking me to leave originally, just wanted breakfast before my call and I was willing to wait, Angel knows it... but Carol? Man, she's lucky I didn't give a WORSE review than this one. By the way, this is my 3rd yelp review in the last 5 years, so when I gave the option for her not to act so disrespectful, she turned it up 10x. Completely unacceptable to treat anyone that way, and trust me I know the homeless problem in LA is bad. Hello I was in burberrys and a UCLA sweatshirt with my Tumi Backpack labeled "CB" (my initials), and in my 1300 european shoes I bought also known as burberrys... anyways I confusingly and surprisingly stated "I mean should I leave a 1star review?" Because I was astonished that the owner was continually being so disrespectful, but Carol responded by saying "I'm just going to counter it don't worry, we'll handle it"... who's we Carol? Overall, I was very disappointed by how the owner handled the situation. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. Instead, I felt disrespected and embarrassed, and I will not be returning to this location because of CAROL. :) However, Angel, and your coworkers, YOU guys are AWESOME for real. Food is good as always.
